A Study on the Creative Design of Fiber Clips

Hsieh, Kuo-wei 22 August 2007 (has links)
The fiber clips is a device for holding an optical fiber which is enclosed in the ferrule, adjustment it to the optimum aligning position with respect to the laser diode and fixing it on the substrate of the butterfly-type laser module by the laser welding. It is hard for the extant saddle shaped clips to be manufactured and the result causes the unable mass production and the high cost. Otherwise, the packaging process has caused PWS of laser module, would decay the coupling efficiency of laser module. Aim at the shortcomings, the purpose of this study proceeds to the creative design of the fiber clips with the systematic engineering design and make a set of the manufacturing method by the pressing die to cause automatic mass production in the future. First, identify the basic characteristics based on an analysis of the patents and then get the conditions and trend. Second, find the function needs and elaborate the specification of design. Third, the use of morphological analysis method and design process is formulated to synthesize and evaluate the improving structure. Finally, taking the design cases will develop the embodiment design and prove the propose approach for the design process. Otherwise, it develops an improvement technique and adjustment method for PWS and wishes can reduce or improve the effects of it.

MTV in Brazil: the standardization of the culture on the world electronic media.

Luiza Cristina Lusvarghi 24 June 2002 (has links)
Launched in 1990, MTV Brazil represents the first enterprise in our country of a big international media company – the American Viacom Inc, the third largest in the world – which operates similar to the fast food chains. The brand, initially just a license to Abril Group, introduces the segmentation media concept on TV channels, even before the introduction of cable TV in Brazil. In 1996, Viacom adopted aggressive global expansion plans. MTV Brazil Ltda is created in a partnership with Abril. After 1999, MTV Networks adopted the slogan Thinks Globally, Acts Locally appropriated to the new expansion strategy. On a counterpart, the Brazilian MTV franchisee reformulated the programmee policy, focusing the non-musical shows in the schedule, in an attempt to increase regional audience. MTV format and the way the network develops, became the brand MTV in one of the greatest symbols of the enculturation imposed by globalization, in the search for a balance between the primary productive manners in the renowned Third World, with the high technology of the "Speed World". The question that emerges is how Brazilian market embodies this new technology taking MTV's Brazil trajectory and analyzing the real contribution of international brands for Brazilian media segment.

Exploring Molecular Interactions : Synthesis and Studies of Clip-Shaped Molecular Hosts

Polavarapu, Anjaneya Prasad January 2007 (has links)
<p>Molecular recognition via noncovalent interactions plays a key role in many biological processes such as antigen-antibody interactions, protein folding, the bonding and catalytic transformation of substrates by enzymes, etc. Amongst these noncovalent interactions, electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, π-π interactions, and metal-to-ligand bonding are the most prominent. Exploring noncovalent interactions in host-guest systems that range from small hydrocarbon systems to more complex systems is the main motivation of this thesis. The present study involves the design, synthesis and characterization of clip-shaped molecules as host structures, and an examination of their binding properties with a variety of guests using NMR spectroscopy. </p><p>Several clips with a hydrocarbon or glycoluril backbone were synthesized. The binding of cations to small, hydrocarbon-based clips suggests that binding is enhanced by the rigidity and cooperativity between the two sidewalls of the clip. Binding is also very much dependant on the solvent properties. </p><p>Glycoluril-based clips built with aromatic sidewalls provide a deep cavity for binding guest molecules. The binding properties of these hosts were studied with several guests such as cations, Lewis acids and Lewis bases. Lewis basic binding sites in the acenaphthene-terminated clip were dominating in guest binding. Complexation-induced conformational changes in the wall-to-wall distance were observed for this clip.</p><p>In contrast, for a porphyrin-terminated clip with metal centers, very strong binding to a series of Lewis basic guests of various sizes into the clip cavity was observed. Conformational locking of guests with long alkyl chains was achieved, suggesting that, this clip could be useful as a potential molecular tool for the structural characterization of acyclic molecules with several stereogenic centers. This porphyrin clip was also shown to bind substituted fullerenes in the cavity.</p>

Hardouin-Lerouge, Marie 04 November 2011 (has links) (PDF)

Expert System for Adaptive Flight Missions

Kühn, Vincent 02 July 2019 (has links)
High voltage transmission lines are used for distributing electricity and have to work reliably as it directly affects their performance. Therefore, inspections and maintenances are required in order to keep them working and to find damages as soon as possible. These inspections are still done by humans, which costs a lot of resources, as it is not only dangerous but also cost- and time consuming. This Bachelor's thesis proposes an alternative way of inspection that can be done by presenting an expert system that is able to help the flight controller of an unmanned aerial vehicle. The implementation is done by splitting the main objective into smaller scenarios, each building the fundamentals for developing further flight missions. CLIPS is the expert system programming language used in order to write scripts for each scenario. Tests to verify the functionality and executability of the implemented concept were done using three dfferent methods. The first test was made using a simulation, the next step was to use the hardware that is used in the field and the last test was to execute the implementation on a real copter.
