Bukartienė, Jolanta 19 June 2008 (has links)
Duomenų statistinė analizė atlikta „SPSS 13.0 for Windows“ programa. Rezultatai: Tarp kursų dalyvių buvo 149 moterys (73 proc.) ir 55 vyrai (27 proc.) iš Vilniaus (19,1 proc.), Kauno (19,1 proc.), Klaipėdos (8,3 proc.), kitų Lietuvos vietovių (53,4 proc.). Visi tyrimo dalyviai buvo gydytojai, 29–71 metų amžiaus. Pagal specializaciją jie buvo suskirstyti į 3 grupes: vaikų ligų gydytojai (33,3 proc.), šeimos gydytojai (19,6 proc.), gydytojai specialistai ir kiti (47,1 proc.). 87,7 proc. respondentų norėtų kelti kvalifikaciją nuotolinių būdu, jei persikvalifikavimas ir nebūtų reikalingas licencijai pratęsti. Kvalifikacijos tobulinimosi kursuose nuotoliniu būdu 66,7 proc. respondentų įgytas žinias pritaikė kasdieniniame darbe. 56,9 proc. respondentų visiškai sutinka, kad švietimo sistemoje reikėtų plačiau taikyti nuotolinį mokymą. Vyresniems nei 45 m. gydytojams ir... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Aim of the study: to evaluate the opinion of Lithuanian physicians on distance learning courses. Material and methods. Aukštųjų mokyklų dėstytojų ir padalinių vadovų informacinis ir kompiuterinis raštingumas / Information and Computer Literacy of University Teachers and Heads of University Departments

Steiblytė, Inga 16 August 2007 (has links)
The paper presents the results of a survey on information competence of university teachers and heads of university divisions. The aim of the survey was to discuss the main competences of ICT literacy: ability to use modern information and communication technologies, possession of information skills (information literacy) and managerial competence. The results make it possible to assume that the majority of respondents try to improve their qualifications through learning all their lives. One way to improve one’s skills is to gain ICT competence. The analysis of the results of the survey shows that many respondents would like to attend a course on computer literacy and free of charge. The results also show that teachers and division heads try to enhance their information literacy competence by making use of various forms of learning. In trying to achieve this they use both the traditional ways of learning and getting information as well as modern and up-to-date ways. The majority of respondents (teachers and division heads) have managerial skills which allow them to get and manage information and apply it in their professional activities.

Die effek van vroeë rekenaarblootstelling en rekenaarervaring op die leesvaardigheid van graad 1-leerders / Myrtle Erasmus

Erasmus, Myrtle January 2007 (has links)
The modern computerised era in which we live means that all areas of society are subjected to information technology. Children are increasingly exposed to and have access to computers, which necessarily have an influence on their education and development. Seeing that children are the most receptive group when it comes to exposure to new technology, this may have enriching effects on computer literacy, which is often considered part of general literacy. With regards to literacy, reading is one of the skills which pose a high challenge. It is also a key skill that opens the world of information, as most information is received through reading. Any reading stimulation via electronic or printed media that encourages learners to read is considered to improve reading ability, reading speed, reading comprehension and phonetic awareness. The aim of this study was to determine whether there was a correlation between early computer exposure and experience (both computer access and use) and reading ability of grade 1 learners. In this study a one shot cross-sectional survey design was used. Schools with grade 1 learners in the Umvoti district of Kwa Zulu Natal were selected to participate in the study - stratified sampling was used. The grade 1 classes were selected on the basis of random sampling. The selected classes (N=4; 85 learners) participated 'intact' in the study. The data was analysed using descriptive as well as inferential statistics (e.g. MANCOVA). / Thesis (M.Ed.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2007.

Usability and accessibility evaluation of the digital doorway

Adebesin, Tawakkaltu Funmilola 03 1900 (has links)
The Digital Doorway (DD) is a non-standard computer system deployed to promote computer literacy amongst the underpriviledged communities in South Africa. Since its inception there has been no usability evaluation of the software installed on the DD. This study investigate the applicability of standard involved two cycles of design research phases to develop a set of multi-category heuristics for evaluating a selection of interfaces and applications installed on the DD. The heuristic evaluation method was found to be an appropriate method for the evaluating the usability of the software as well as the direct accessibility support provided on the DD. As a triangulation exercise the heuristic evaluation was complementary role of using a combination of evaluation methods. / Computing / M. Sc. (Information Systems)

Informační technologie v odrazu výuky na 1. st. ZŠ / Information Technology in Reflection of Education on the 1st Level on Basic School

BATYSTOVÁ, Věra January 2007 (has links)
Annotation This diploma thesis in its theoretical part sums up didactic approaches which serve as a starting point for designing teaching methods and suitable presentation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to primary school children. The thesis deals with the impact ICT has on the development of pupils´ personalities with regard to innovative educational processes which are now at work in our schools. The thesis wants to propose and prove possible and useful approaches to ICT teaching at primary schools based on research in the current state of ICT teaching and in the computer literacy of pupils and on teachers´ own ``best experience{\crqq}. The hypothesis was that pupils in ICT lessons are able to work in pairs effectively and that the one with better knowledge of computers can help and give advice to the less experienced one in the pair. In the practical part of the thesis computer literacy of pupils in second and third grades of primary schools is checked with help of a questionnaire. On the basis of selected didactic approaches and analysis of the questionnaire answers a dyadic teaching method was designed and proved in practice. The use of dyadic method is one of possible ways to reach optimal results in ICT teaching at primary schools. The thesis proposes a teaching plan for a third grade of primary school. This teaching plan, effectivity of which was checked in practice and the outcome analysed, can serve as an inspiration for beginning teachers and help them to design their teaching plans for ICT lessons or for employing ICT in other subjects.

Web-based training in Public Administration in South Africa : principles and considerations

Van Jaarsveldt, Liza Ceciel 09 March 2004 (has links)
The use of information technology for the delivery for educational programs is growing rapidly worldwide. In the United States of America and Australia the number of higher education institutions which are making use of online education to teach Public Administration is constantly increasing. Surveys done by the National Association of Schools for Public Administration and Affairs (NASPAA) in the United States of America found heightened interest in distance education. In 1995 it was found by NASPAA that Public Administration was offered by 12% of higher educational institutions to students online. One year later the number had increased to 24%. The last NASPAA survey in 2000 showed an increase of 39%. It is possible for students in the United States of America and Australia to complete a Public Administration degree online. However, in South Africa the use of web-based training for the delivery of Public Administration as a science discipline is still under utilised. It was found that only six, or 20% of the higher educational institutions offering Public Administration to students in South Africa, made use of web-based training in 2002. This compares poorly with the United States of America and Australia. Due to distance, time and financial constraints it therefore becomes difficult for officials or students interested in government related studies, to travel to a university or even to take the necessary three years to study for a Public Administration degree. Web-based training programmes should provide the opportunity to address these problems. By redesigning the content of Public Administration courses to be completed on the World Wide Web, higher educational institutions in South Africa should be able to reach more students, than would normally be the case. Although South Africa is the best developed of all the African countries with regard to the use of information and communication technology (ICT), South Africa still experience some limitations. These limitations include access to computers, infrastructural development, telephone line connectivity, and in may cases access to electricity. / Dissertation (MA (Public Administration))--University of Pretoria, 2005. / School of Public Management and Administration (SPMA) / Unrestricted

Die invloed van die Internet op die integrasie van rekenaars by ’n laerskool in ’n lae sosio-ekonomiese gemeenskap in Suid-Afrika (Afrikaans)

Williams, Richard Henry 18 June 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this case study was to establish the influence of the Internet on the use of computers by teachers at a primary school in a lower socio-economic community in South Africa. The study investigates to what extent the use of the Internet as a source of information and communication motivated teachers to apply the computer for other purposes. A project was implemented to find answers to the main question: “What influence did the Internet have on the integration of computers at a primary school in a lower socio-economic community in South Africa?” During this project teachers were introduced to the Internet, and attended a five months’ course in computer training, offered once a week, for one hour after school. Special attention was paid to factors that influenced the use of the Internet and the computer. The main focus was on factors such as motivation, training, support, time, the attitude of teachers and their access to computers. Answers to how the Internet contributed to the use of the computer for educational purposes were also noted. In this study the training and support offered to teachers played a major role in their use of the Internet and the computer. Teachers wanted training on aspects that would be useful and relevant to them. They mostly needed support with the technical aspects of the computer and the software. Prior to the project the teachers’ computer skills were limited. By the end of the project their skills had improved, as there was a 42% growth in communication through e-mail, a 67% growth in searching for information on the Internet, a 50% growth in the use of the computer for school administration and a 83% growth in the use of word processing. Other factors that also played a major role in the successful use of the Internet and the computer were the policies of the school’s management team, specifically those policies that made access to computer technology possible. The study recommended that policies on the use of the Internet and the computer (acceptable use policy) should be in place. The study concluded that Internet skills had a definite influence on teachers’ use of the computer. / Dissertation (MEd (Computer-Integrated Education))--University of Pretoria, 2008. / Curriculum Studies / unrestricted

How South African Further Education and Training learners acquire, recall, process and present information in a digitally enabled environment

Miller, Pamela Ann 02 August 2003 (has links)
The aim of the research was to investigate how South Africa Further Education and Training learners acquire, recall, process and present information in a digitally enabled environment. To determine how a changing society and technology have influenced the way learners interact with information in an educational environment, recent changes in society and their influences on young people were examined as well as the traits of the generations with respect to character, family life, the future, peers and technology. This revealed that learners today need · material in visual format; · to find or create their own learning content; · fast access to learning material; and · learning material with long-term career value. It was also apparent that they are motivated by technology used in information transfer, are active learners and regard learning as a social activity. The methodology of case study action research was used. Note was taken of measures to ensure reliability and validity and applied to this research to ensure that the findings are valid and reliable as well as generalisable in South Africa beyond the confines of Pinelands High School (PHS). Two case studies observing the learners at PHS were undertaken:- creating web sites for the ThinkQuest web design competition and a building a web-based CV. The learners were heterogeneous and displayed a range of skills, ages, academic abilities and prior experiences. Many different management formats were employed, such as learning at a distance, in a contact environment, with examples and specific or open-ended instructions as well as different forms of motivation, time for the work in hand, etc. The major findings of the research were the influence of peers and importance of external motivation in the form of grades on the learners’ cognitive, affective and physical learning activities in the computer laboratory. Secondary findings indicated the importance of content, examples, instructions, time, mental state, classroom ecology, contact environment and software in the way learners acquired, recalled, processed and presented information. The research concluded with a set of actions that should be taken to ensure successful interaction with information in a digitally enabled environment. / Dissertation (PhD (Computer Assisted Education))--University of Pretoria, 2004. / Curriculum Studies / unrestricted
