Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) entered school environments to be auxiliary means to the process of teaching and learning. In most public schools, the presence of these technologies, which is represented by computers, happened with the setting of computer labs. Studies previously developed by several researchers of the educational field made it clear that the setting of computer labs did not guarantee that such tools were used to help students in their knowledge construction because of the disconnection with curriculum contents. Aiming at articulating the use of computer labs with the contents of Elementary School 1st to 5th year, this study, which had a qualitative approach with characteristics of an action research and used an experimental and participative methodology, purposed an intervention for the use of computers as helpers to the pedagogical process through a teachers’ continuous training during service developed with 24 individuals in a local public school of a small town in the countryside of São Paulo. As an outcome of this study for Professional Master Degree, we elaborated a digital book with suggestions for the work with teachers in computer labs. We verified that, even being insecure about using computers, teachers like such technology and showed themselves interested and participative during the training activities and, thus, contributed for educational computer labs to become knowledge construction places which are favorable to the process of teaching and learning.

Effects of a Fat-sugar Supplemented Diet, with and Without Exercise Training, on Body Fat Mass and Selected Cardiometabolic Risk Markers in Overweight and Obese, Sedentary Males

January 2016 (has links)
abstract: The winter holiday period has been highlighted as a major risk period for weight gain due to excess caloric intake in the form of fat and sugar. Furthermore, diets high in fat and sugar have been implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Exercise aids in the prevention of weight/fat gain, and prevents deleterious changes in cardiometabolic function. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of a fat-sugar supplemented diet, with and without two different exercise training protocols, on body composition, glycemic control and other markers of cardiovascular disease in an at-risk population of overweight and obese males. Twenty-seven, healthy overweight/obese (BMI >25 kg/m2) males were fed 2 donuts per day, 6 days/week, for four weeks, while maintaining their current diet. In addition, all subjects were randomized to one of the following conditions: sedentary control, 1,000 kcal/week moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) (50% of peak oxygen consumption), or 1,000 kcal/week high-intensity interval training (HIIT) (90-95% of peak heart rate). Supervised exercise training was performed 4 days/week on a cycle ergometer. Changes in body weight and composition, endothelial function, arterial stiffness, glycemic control, blood lipids and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) were assessed before and after the intervention. Body weight, lean mass and visceral fat increased significantly in HIIT (p<0.05) and were unchanged in MICT. There was a trend for a significant increase in body weight (p=0.07) and lean mass (p=0.11) in control. Glycemic control during the 2-h OGTT improved significantly in MICT and control, with no change in HIIT. Hepatic insulin resistance index (IRI) and 30-min insulin during the OGTT improved significantly after MICT and worsened following control (p=0.03), while HIIT was unchanged. CRF increased significantly in both HIIT and MICT, with no change in control (p<0.001). There were no significant changes in other markers of cardiovascular disease. The addition of a fat-sugar supplement (~14,500 kcal) over a 4-week period was not sufficient to induce deleterious changes in body composition and cardiometabolic health in overweight/obese young males. Exercise training did not afford overweight/obese males additional health benefits, with the exception of improvements in fitness and hepatic IRI. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Physical Activity, Nutrition and Wellness 2016

The evolution of internet resources has led to an increase in the flow of data, and consequently, the need for classification or forecasting models that support an online learning. The ARTMAP Fuzzy Neural Network has been used in several areas of knowledge, however, it is still little explored in real-time applications that require continuous learning. In this work, an ARTMAP Fuzzy Neural Network with continuous training is proposed, able to acquire knowledge along the classification or prediction. Modifications in the architecture and learning algorithm enable the neural network to activate training whenever necessary. To validate the proposed model two experiments were performed, one for forecasting and another for classification, using benchmark databases and compared with the original ARTMAP Fuzzy Neural Network. The results showed the ability of the proposed model to acquire knowledge along the presented samples in a stable and efficient way. Thus, this study contributes to the evolution of the ARTMAP Fuzzy neural network and presents the continuous training as an effective alternative to real-time applications.

Pacto Nacional pela Alfabetização na Idade Certa (henceforth PNAIC), as a continuous training programme, aims at promoting reflection about literacy process of Brazilian basic school students and teachers practice. Taking into account the aforementioned programme and its goals, the present study aims at analysing Study Counselor's practices regarding continuous training programme for teachers in charge of developing students literacy skills. In order to attain the goal of this study we attended and observed pre-service training programme for Brazilian Universities' trainers in which Study Counselors from Recife and São Lourenço da Mata participated, and we also attended continuous training programme workshops held by Study Counselors. We conducted semistructured interviews to two Study Counselors in additon to analysing PNAIC official document and guidelines. We voice-recorded the workshops, wrote down notes and also transcribed recordings in its entirety. We attended three seminars held by Study Counselors for teachers of both Recife and São Lourenço da Mata (II, III and IV), four meetings of Study Counselors for Recife's (IV, V, VI, X), and four meetings of Study Counselors for São Lourenço da Mata's literacy teachers (IV, V, VI, X). Data were processed according to Bardin's content analysis theory (2010). Results showed that Study Counselors are considered a fundamental element in PNAIC official document and guidelines because the programme proposal is to be delivered by means of them in the workshops, and Study Counselors are also in charge of making decisions, organizing and planning learning situations with literacy teachers concerning Portuguese language. Our analysis made evident that Study Counselors prioritized formative strategies related to theoretical aspects, such as scholarly articles study, as well as practical matters, such as those concerning students turning in assigned homework. When teaching strategies at workshops for literacy teachers, these strategies turned into "tactics" in order for literacy teachers to be able to apply them in a classroom environment. As far as classroom teaching practices are concerned, it was made evident that these became Study Counselors' study element for both analysis and collective learning in seminars designed for Brazilian universities trainers, as well as in workshops for literacy teachers.

This dissertation is aimed at proposing a Technology Distance Training programme for Lecturers at Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique. This matter is of relevance for us, on one hand, because we have noticed that although the Distance training Centre, the responsible body for distance education at UEM, trains teachers, some still face dfficiculties to handle Information Technollogy and Communication (ITC). This is more observed on the teaching platform usage. On the other hand, we have become aware of lack of joint effort among the CEND and the teachers to develop further initiatives that can improve teachers’ understanding level on disrance education aspects., for instance, internal training at Faculty level. As a consequence, it is observed that teachers are not committed on their attribute duties, especially on development of learning resources, though this is preconised in the guidelines. However, being this a qualitative research of a proposal that aims to improve the CEND performance to overcome the teachers’ challenges with ITC, the research based on the strategy of data collection, interviews and questionnaires. Both interviews and questionnaires were designed for CEND specialists and teachers. This is so because data collected from them will play an important role to understand the manner this institution handles challenges that teachers face. We are of the hope that, hereinafter, the Education Action Plan (PAE) will draw possible suggestions which, to some extent, will contribute to the improvement of CENFD specialists perception and/or technical conception as far as the ITC training programmes are concerned for UEM teachers.

Fortun, Véronique 02 December 2016 (has links)
The research that forms the subject of this thesis interrogates the contribution made by so-called e-learning spaces in the continuous training of teachers. More specifically, the research investigates the effects of ‘situated’ digital spaces and environments, known as virtual communities, on ways of living, practising and enhancing one’s training as well as embarking on a new professional work situation. Particular attention is paid to the use of situated digital technology within “interstitial spaces” where formal and informal modes of learning interact with one another. The conceptual and theoretical framework, taken from the ethnological branch of the sociology of uses, focuses on the concepts of community of practice and community-based practices. That framework sees the uses of digital technology as constituting unique approaches and everyday inventions based on these spaces and depending on the various elements (or logics) that facilitate or hinder the use of them. Distinct sources of data are cross-referenced within the framework of a research monograph, leading onto a study of two online spaces (one made available by the training organisation and the other using electronic messaging), also carrying out comprehensive interviews and analysing the institutional context. The results suggest the emergence of interstitial spaces which build upon forms of electronic sociability. These spaces are located at a midway point between the practices of training institutions and every day personal or group-based practices. The contributions of this research are in its establishment of a conceptual and methodological framework, as well as in the achievement of a greater understanding of the role of informal learning and digital sociability within the contexts of digital technology use and continuous teacher training.

Lantz, Nichlas, Malmström, Sebastian January 2020 (has links)
Background: A crucial part of rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease is to increase aerobic capacity. High intensity intervals are an emerging field in cardiac rehabilitation. Adhering to physical training has been shown to be quite hard for these patients. There is no systematic review of different training intensities for these patients that also include interventions towards changing and adhering to new training behaviors. Objective: Map out changes in VO2peak from high intensity intervals or moderate continuous training in cardiac rehabilitation and to see if theories or techniques for behavioral change was applied to maintain and increase adherence to physical activity. Method: This systematic review was done with the databases of PubMed and PEDro. The studies could only include patients with heart failure or coronary artery diseases. Articles were assessed for quality and given a preliminary level of evidence. Results: 11 articles were included; ten studies showed a significant increase in VO2peak. Three studies showed a significant increase in VO2peak between groups in favor of high intensity intervals. Some behavior change techniques could be interpreted by the authors, but no theories were used. Conclusion: This review could not conclude that one specific modality of training is superior in cardiac rehabilitation.

Boscolo, Dulcineia 29 August 2007 (has links)
This survey targets at getting to know the projects Environment Study, meaningful from the teaching and learning points of view, as deployed in Santana de Parnaiba public schools of Fundamental Education (5th to 8th degree). We analyzed the practical possibilities within public education\'s contextual reality giving a positive return to students\' formation. Quizzes and interviews with teachers and supervisors form the survey\'s main documents. The quizzes were presented to teachers of all branches of knowledge and after the analysis we identified and choose as study cases\' from among other projects\' two Environment Studies done by two lady teachers. The interviews with the two teachers gave us the opportunity to know about the project development, conditions favoring realizations and the results thus attained. We discussed how the Cartesian model of knowledge had influence over the industrial society, including what relates to the school institution and also the importance of dialectic thinking on educational practices. We also approached issues relating to teaching practices and linked to aspects of the schooling structure and continuous training of educators. We discussed about the importance of a Pedagogic Political Project and the curriculum vitae daily developed in schools. After the analysis of all information collected from the Environment Studies of both projects, we tried to know the types of pedagogic actions that might be focused on a meaningful learning at public schools. We analyzed the Environment Study as an alternative approach method, taking into consideration that as a principle all of the students\' subjectivities carry a collective work, an integration of disciplines and a critical learning. Finally, we came to the conclusion that certain pedagogical practices may daily strengthen the school space towards an understanding of reality in all its complexity and may also strengthen the formation of citizenship and the school\'s social function.
