Jongo e Teatro: leituras performáticas da festa / Jongo e Teatro: leituras performáticas da festa

Erika Regina Faria Coracini 24 March 2008 (has links)
This thesis describes the Jongo festival of the Tamandaré communitys of Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, Brazil. It discusses the festivals and analyses specific features, which are, at the same time, typical characteristica of theatre. The text describes the festival, its traditions and its embediment in the community, to finally reflect about its material manifestation, rituals, poetry, energy, presence and aspects of a game as well as its reflection in the population memory. Through the understanding of the festival, the traditional notion of theater is questioned and possibilities to incorporate features of the festival are being explored.

Since the literary narrative also says descriptions of the image of characters, environments and psychological states, took up the character Conchita, the novel La femme et le Pantin (1898), written by Pierre Louÿs, in an attempt to discuss the different representations of the female , resorting to mythology, painting, cinema and photography, mediated by the iconography and iconology, as well as key-caraters in the ocidental imaginary, arguing that such representations are part of the building imagery, not only the body, as also of desire and seduction. In this sense, the relationships between the filmic translations of the novel - The Devil Is a Woman (Von Sternberg, 1935), La femme et le Pantin (Duvivier, 1959) and Cet obscure object du désir (Buñuel, 1977) - and the interpretations of the context of the literary work of Louÿs, also refer to Lacan's psychoanalytic scholia and schizo-analytical Deleuze and Guattari, in order to problematize the affinities and incursions of desire within the representations of the female during the time covered in this work.

On the breast of river: lines that marry, heal and dance Kinship and corporality in the Mura of Igapó-Açu

Fernando Augusto Fileno 04 November 2016 (has links)
This work is a reflection about the mura social organization, from the study of one of the villages that make up the Indigenous Area Cunhã-Sapucaia, situated in the city of Borba (AM). The theme of the community construction and maintenance unfolds to the broader picture of multilocal relations that encompass the universe of other villages in the area, organized around the river Igapó-Açu axis, through lines that outline the political space. Line is a guiding concept of this dissertation, a definition of the relationship, it unfolds as a way of thinking as it expresses itself in different contexts. The mura village as a political and cosmopolitical area, provides the context in which we will accompany the body manufacturing process and the definition of mura personhood, key to the comprehension of the kinship and the socius.

In a world of many bodies: a study of objects and garments among the Wajãpi (Amapá, Brazil)

Camila Galan de Paula 12 November 2015 (has links)
This research addresses the acquisition and exchange of industrial goods by Indigenous peoples. Fieldwork was conducted among the Wajãpi (speakers of a Tupi-Guaranian language), in the state of Amapá (Brazil). The ethnographic enquiry lead to two investigative paths. The first chapter of this thesis researches the Wajãpi modes of appraising objects, as well as the criteria used by this people to judge things as good-beautiful (ikatuwa) or bad-ugly (nikatui). The separation of industrialized objects and those manufactured in Indigenous villages does not apply to Wajãpi modes of evaluation. Discussions on evaluation criteria of objects center on: (i) some of the objects sensible qualities; (ii) the relation between an object, its productive process, its producer and the raw material from which it is made; (iii) the distinction between original goods and imported goods, regarding products purchased in cities; (iv) the ease of use of certain things and techniques. The second chapter investigates clothing, focusing on Wajãpi regards to the use of garments acquired in cities and on Wajãpi comparisons between these clothes and other elements of body fabrication urucu paint, genipapo paint, fragrant resins paint, red loincloths and skirts, glass beads. Discussing with other anthropologists analyses, Wajãpi considerations on the subject of clothing are approached in some different ways. I follow their comparisons between the use of clothes and of body paint in the role of mediating Wajãpi relations with other peoples supernaturals in the division of the naturalism. I discuss the link between the use of certain clothes and the fabrication of adequate and beautiful bodies, focusing on the ideas of combinar (to harmonize, to match) and vergonha (shyness, reserve). The ideas of imitation (waã) and acostumar-se (-jipokuwa) [to accustom someone to] are also investigated. The imitation of non-Indigenous manners and the custom of using of their garments is described in regard to other imitation practices performed by Wajãpi people. Finally, I outline a first understanding of how the relations between leaders and followers compels Wajãpi people to seek certain goods. To this purpose, I discuss the ideas of fazer preconceito (to make prejudice), desigualdade (inequality), ciúme (jealousy), inveja (envy). Corporality and body fabrication are topics which pervades this thesis. Objects have bodies, their parts names parallel the parts of Wajãpi bodies and bodies of other peoples animals and plants, in the naturalistic division. Following other authors, I present data that leads to question the division between people and things, as an aftermath of investigating body fabrication the making of objects and of Wajãpi people.

Carne e tristeza - sobre a culinária caxinauá e seus modos de conhecer / Meat and Sadness - on the cuisine of the caxinauá and their manners of knowing

Ana Martha Tie Yano 26 February 2015 (has links)
Being great hunters, the caxinauá, peoples of speakers of a panoan language, say that game meat (yuinaka), when mixed with vegetables such as maize (xeki), macaxeira (atsa) and banana (mani) becomes the finest and most flavorful dish of their sophisticated cuisine. Eating well is to them an art: it gathers people, strenghtens the thought (xinan), brings joy (benima). In the course of my stay at San Martín, in Alto Purus, the oldest did not hesitate to praise the beauty (duapa) of person reputed for his or her generosity and hospitality - thus did they refer to those who are deemed wise, xinanya, gifted with \"good thought\" (xinan pepa). This work aims to reflect on some aspects of the relationships articulated about the act of preparing the food and offering it to another, viewing the caxinauá cuisine and their manners at the table as a privileged way of expressing (pieces of) knowledge and circulating them.

[pt] O SEXO NA PELE: SENTIDOS DO CORPO E DA PELE NA EXPERIÊNCIA BAREBACK ENTRE HOMENS NA CIDADE DO RIO DE JANEIRO / [en] THE SEX ON THE SKIN: UNDERSTANDINGS ABOUT THE BODY AND THE SKIN IN THE BAREBACK SEX EXPERIENCE AMONG MEN IN THE CITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO

VLADIMIR PORFIRIO BEZERRA 27 April 2020 (has links)
[en] This study aims to present the results of a qualitative research that considered a bibliographical and documentary review, as well as data from an ethnography carried out in the city of Rio de Janeiro, between groups of men who engage sex to other men (MSM) without a condom - also known as bareback sex. A literature specialized in gender and sexuality, epidemiological and behavioral bulletins, and the observation of small private male clubs dedicated to bareback sex constitute the field of this research. In the scope of this study, two discoveries stand out: a) the hegemony of an erogenous body that surpasses the sexual in the biological sense, and b) and the preponderance of the senses, especially the tactile sense, through values and meanings attributed to the skin.

Gestos feitos de tinta: as representações corporais na pintura de Almeida Júnior / Gestures made of paint: the corporal representation in Almeida Júnior\' s paints

Perutti, Daniela Carolina 12 December 2007 (has links)
This master\'s dissertation is about José Ferraz de Almeida Júnior (1850-1899), a painter born in Itu, mainly known for his regionalistic tematic paints. The main objective consists in understand how, through the corporal representation of the peasant and other characters, the artist is a product and a producer of a certain imaginary of São Paulo - exactly in a period when the discussion theme among the paulist elite is the affirmation of an identity for the state. Both in paintings about urban environment, and in those of regionalistic subject, it was possible to identify how the represented characters\' bodies and their relashionship with the physical environment express a series of ambivalences. In the paintings which the peasants are the protagonists; in one sense, there is an intention in valuing these characters and their way of life and; in another, the light and tonality of their skins make them very similar to the ambient which they are setted - composed by the solar light and the ground - as if both were maid of the same substances. In this sense, it would be possible to aproximate the Almeida Júnior\'s peasants to a series of deterministic discourses of the epoch that characterize the human being as a product of his physical environment. Besides that, throughout sucessives comparisons between the several painting genres produced by the artist, it was tried to understand why his representations were eficient from the simbolic point of view, since they were recognyzed by his critics as precursors of a modern art in Brazil.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Leonardo Brandao.pdf: 6343643 bytes, checksum: 3cfda7f1f63025834bf4386a2d16f9b2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-06-12 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This thesis aims to reflect on the development of so-called "California sports" and / or "extreme sports" in Brazil, taking as case study the practice of analyzing and skateboarding through a series of magazines published in the country between the 1970s and early 1990s. The starting point was the theory that the sport can be understood as a set of technical and organizational discourses of embodiment, and therefore being able to drive themselves to the most diverse forms of bodily experience (such a perspective is worked on the thesis by notion of power sports). We seek not only to investigate the different ways the skateboarding was co-opted by the sports universe, but also how he invented modes of spatial appropriation of subjectivity and experience that had little to do with competitions, ranking or income. The thesis we defend is that skateboarding is not trod the ways of a sportivization to result in a solid identity and which we could classify as sports. His practice was in an area of fluid and ambiguous boundaries, establishing dialogues with both the world of sports competitions organized as important to the counterculture youth movements, especially with punk rock. The restraints by which it passed in the mid-1970s, as he faced a ban in 1988, when former President Janio Quadros was mayor of Sao Paulo, indicate right, beside the existence of organized competition for a lot public, and sponsored by major companies such as Bank Itau, the existing imbalances in recent history / Esta tese tem como objetivo refletir sobre o desenvolvimento dos chamados esportes californianos e/ou radicais no Brasil, tomando como estudo de caso a prática do skate e a analisando através de uma série de revistas publicadas no país entre as décadas de 1970 e início de 1990.

The main purpose of this text is to identify and analyze on advertising vehicles, produced for foreign audiences, what are the speeches about woman bodies, which historically asserted the Brazilian woman stereotype. To do so, is used as primary source the advertising materials produced by Embratur (Brazilian Institute of Tourism), the official governmental institute that is responsible on promoting Brazilian tourism to foreign tourists as well as materials produced by companies that are related to Embratur. It s intent to unfold part of the historical construction of this feminine image and how the Brazilian woman image was linked into the tourism industry in advertising materials. Assuming that the cultural analysis of the female body emerges as an important issue in the field of humanities, the focus on body image can be viewed as a key element in discussions about the construction of identities, in a way to problematize the idea of a fixed and essentialized female identity, demonstrating that this stereotype is not enough to define the woman category nowadays / A presente dissertação de mestrado busca analisar o corpo enquanto uma construção simbólica, focando na interferência que a mídia impressa e os veículos audiovisuais tiveram nos processos de construção de identidade de mulheres na sociedade brasileira, reforçando estereótipos corporais e corpotamentais, tais como a sexualidade e a sensualidade exacerbadas.
