Servetus, Swedenborg and the nature of God

Dibb, Andrew Malcolm Thomas 11 1900 (has links)
Michael Servetus (1508 - 1553) and Emanuel Swedenborg (1688 - 1772) are both considered heretics. They share many concepts about the nature of God, especially their rejection of orthodox Nicene and Chalcedonian theology. This thesis explores their respective theologies relating to the Trinity and Christology, with speculation of what sources they may have had in common. While attention is paid to Ignatius, Irenaeus and Tertullian, particular attention is paid to Tertullian, whose work Adversus Praxean lays the foundation of Servetus' ideas and has much in common with Swedenborg's theology. In light of their similarity to Tertullian, the question is asked if Servetus and Swedenborg would have been called heretics prior to Nicaea. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D.Th. In the condition of exceeding population, they face obstacles to the development of their intellectual, biological and cultural capabilities; to the fairness in guaranteeing civil, political and social rights; to the quality of life in harmony and well-being, aim of human beings and to the utter fulfillment of their citizenship. The Methodist Community of Street People - CMPR has found its space at the beginning of the 1990s, while the Town Hall of São Paulo, in the turn of Mayor Luiza Erundina, promoted through the Social Well Being Municipal Office, the census to know who was, how was living and how the street population in the city of São Paulo was perceived. In this context, the Korean Ebenezer Methodist Church every Sunday offered assistance to the population serving bread, coffee and milk, and chocolate milk in the region of Dom Pedro II Park. It was established the partnership for the creation of CMPR through the awakening of public power and the participation of the Korean Methodist Church through the Korean Cafe. It was fundamental the willingness of Bishops Nelson Campos Leite and Geoval Jacinto da Silva, both from the Third Ecclesiastical Region of the Methodist Church, who started the work using the institution of philanthropic nature of the Methodist Church, the AMAS Social Assistance Methodist Association. Thus, with headquarters in Bridge Pedroso and due to geographical proximity, the CMPR linked itself to the AMAS from the Methodist Cathedral of São Paulo, acting in three dimensions: (1) creation of Co-Existence House, (2) Sheltering in the winter period; (3) Creation of the Hostel. The Action Plan designed by CMPR that consolidated the creation of the Hostel, dates from the transition 1994/95 and it had as its basis the Social Creed, the Plan for the Life and Mission of the Methodist Church and the Action Plan forwarded to the City Hall, in the light of the social aspect of the Methodist movement from John Wesley, establishing that the overall goal of CMPR would be the redemption of the citizenship of the people who constitute the street people. In this dimension, the thesis is structured into five chapters, included field research that has been conducted with employees and former employees of CMPR, with the objective of gathering contents to analyse the pastoral actions of the CMPR from the perspective of religious praxis, considering the philosophical and educational.(AU) / A população em situação de rua é um fenômeno urbano, agravado na contemporaneidade por fatores de ordem social, econômica, cultural que agrupa pessoas independentemente da idade, etnia, grau de instrução e gênero, em situação de exclusão social, impedidos à renda e suprimento de suas necessidades vitais, culturais e sociais.

La musique religieuse pour piano d’Almeida Prado / The religious music for piano of Almeida Prado

Bannwart, José 27 January 2011 (has links)
The problems of this thesis are centered on a cogitation deepened between the musical expression of a confession of Catholic creed displayed and defended by Almeida Prado and the apprehension provoked by a step which every researcher must undertake provided that he respects the Brazilian context principally on the multiculturalism. In the sense, the chosen directory consists of The Rosary of Medjugorje, Chorales, Sound Commendations and Prophecies. These four collections made the object of a research work which, at the level of method, became attached to the implementation of a detailed check on the presence of religious texts. These last were classified were classified from named writings and they were blended with another problems, that of the musical analysis, provided that this discipline participates entirely in the deciphering of the religious sense which it is necessary to grant in writings composed by Almeida Prado.Six musical categories in the service of an organization of poetic pronunciations were cleared from: themes, succession of piano gestures, repetitiveness, the juxtaposition of ideas, resonance, cogitation on the stamp. This hypothesis of reading was confronted with the reality of four elements deducted from religious contents and centered on a call to sources scooped out from the Bible, Catholic theology, religious inclination popular Brazilian, the personal devotion of Almeida Prado. This research would not know how to lose Brazilian context of view where religious syncretism accompanies cultural interbreeding. These so important data broadly contributed to the orientation of this thesis.

Língua e Discurso nas crenças culturais sul-pantaneiras

Dorsa, Arlinda Cantero 19 October 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T19:34:09Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 LPO - Arlinda C Dorsa.pdf: 628933 bytes, checksum: d51c22808506cb3f6400e9abf13e8a77 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-10-19 / This work is based on the socio-cognitive branch of the Critical Discourse Analysis, whose most important representative, since 1988, is van Dijk. It is also based on the theoretical notions of Discourse Analysis, derived from the French branch. Its subject is the study of discursive representations of cultural aspects shown by the pantaneiro - the men from Pantanal area in Mato Grosso do Sul State. The general goal is to contribute for Discourse studies in the Brazilian culture, analyzing its verbal expressions present in lyrics from South-Pantanal regional songs, from a basic text plus insertion of inter-texts and inter-discourses. In this sense, the methodological procedure consists in selecting and analyzing as a whole, local music lyrics, texts from History, Geography and Ethnography Discourses as well as interviews carried out with composers. The hypothesis that supports this research considers that the analytical categories - Discourse, Society and Cognition - extend themselves to the analysis of mental and linguistic representations while evaluative knowledge and cultural creeds; it also considers that the Come and Go migrations over large geographic areas guide the initiatives of the South-Pantanal man. Both hypothesis show to be convenient, since the evaluative knowledge forms are creeds imprinted in the social cognition, the cultural traits that dynamically guide, from historical roots, the building of new meanings in each contemporary period. The results from these analyses show that: 1. The lyrical inter-texts show themselves to be more suitable for handling regional culture values and, although the approached subjects are the same, because of serving different goals, the inter-discourses are diversified. 2. The History discourse originates from official documents, which bring in a linguistic form, the interests of Power; the Historiography handles with several different types of documents besides the official ones, and for this reason, they represent the facts focused on some cultural aspects. 3. The Geography discourse indicates that the semantic progression, derived from scientific discoveries in the Pantanal area in South Mato Grosso is opposed to regional traditional cultural knowledge, which is explicit in the lyrics inter-texts analyzed. 4.

Kritiken och verkligheten : Datorspel och litteratur och dess olika roller inom kritiken och verkligheten

Jonsson, Jim January 2011 (has links)

(Barend Jacobus), 1946- 17 May 2005 (has links)
This dissertation presents a contribution to measure the church order and ecclesiastical law in the Nederduitsch Hervormde Church of Africa against the Presbyterial-synodal understanding of church government. The latter forms the canonical outline of Biblical Reformative Theology as an indication of the theology currently practiced in the Nederduitsch Hervormde Church of Africa. At the outset a historical overview is given on the origin and development of the Presbyterial-synodal church government that was mainly shaped by Calvin in Geneva and later elaborated upon in Paris, and then further developed in the Netherlands. Reference is also made to the Algemeen Reglement of 1816, the 1951 church order of the Nederlandse Hervormde Church, as well as the 1951 church order of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Church of Africa. A description is given of what is understood by Biblical Reformative Theology as a revelation theology, which objectively assesses man as a sinner redeemed by grace through Jesus Christ. In this regard the church is willed by God and exists in eschatological expectation when Jesus will be everything in everyone. An exposition of Presbyterial-synodal church government calls attention to the church's existence from the beginning of time, founded by God, and it is therefore of a covenantal nature. Offices are seen as gifts from God to mankind to bring those who had been saved by Jesus Christ to faith in Him. Office bearers gather together in an assembly of offices to govern the church according to the Word of God. The church is a confessing church who confesses its faith with the church of all ages, as summarized in the ecumenical creeds and the three formularies of unity. Reference is also made here to the sacraments, ceremonies, church festivals and days of remembrance. The chapter concludes with a reference to church discipline as well as the relationship between church and state. Finally the church order and ecclesiastical law in the Nederduitsch Hervormde Church of Africa is measured against the previous definition of the Presbyterial-synodal understanding of church government. / Thesis (PhD (Theology))--University of Pretoria, 2006. / Church History and Church Policy / unrestricted
