Museu de Santo André e a difusão da memória cultural local / Museum of Santo André and a diffusion of the local cultural memory.

Rampazo, Rosimara Tanajura Barbosa 17 October 2018 (has links)
This work reflects on Santo André Museum Dr. Octaviano Armando Gaiarsa cultural memory information dissemination, an equipment responsible for the promotion, safeguarding and local cultural collection dissemination. It is proposed to observe the Museum as cultural space responsible for the promotion and local memory dissemination, committed to diversity and local identities, with the record of the changes in the landscape and the interactions among city residents. In a contemporary context to information that has changed the dynamics of knowledge construction and ownership of the cultural heritage, with the virtual space shaping aspects of everyday life and producing cultural shifts with tendency to homogenization in global transmission of cultural patterns. However, the technology can also allow the cultural manifestation of historically excluded groups and minority, favoring the autonomy of the subject site and your inclusion in the global world. Thus, the initial hypothesis of the research considers museums of city as privileged spaces of knowledge about memory and local history, in favor of experimentation and other forms of socialization and citizenship, able to provide experiences in different cultural practices that promote interaction between the diverse audiences of the city. A space with diverse sources of information: promotion, collection, selection, organization and access, with the potential to inform, update, meet, study and investigate the situation in which the citizen is immersed as a producer and heir to the cultural legacy of the society. The research addresses the reality of the Museum and your relationship with the city there represented, including terms such as culture, information, globalization, memory, cultural heritage, among others. Developing a descriptive overview and a dialogical analysis of issues, based on information for understanding and design analysis of urban exposure, given that he synthesizes goals such as privileging memories and local cultures, promoting cultural diversity, strengthening the sense of belonging and identity in the construction of knowledge about local history. The research demonstrates the relevance of the initial hypothesis and confirms the relevance of the Museum of Santo André as a cultural reference in the region. However, it points out the vulnerabilities in your performance challenges in contemporary, in particular, for the virtual space, which extends the boundaries of the city and links the appreciation of local culture with your potential to relate to a globalized culture, well as links to preservation of current virtual heritage cultural legacy. Also demonstrates insufficient structural conditions, guidelines, budget and some actions of the Museum in order to ensure, in accordance with the current legislation, a continuous and independent process of promoting, safeguarding and dissemination of cultural heritage. And points out weaknesses in the design of urban exposure claims resulting from your condition quota since no supports in a political project of cultural heritage. Therefore, one concludes that it is essential to the city, a political project with a view to the recognition and appreciation of the local culture whose strengthening also favors its relation with the influential globalized culture. Contemporary context that shows culture and information as fundamental forms of expression of human existence.

A preservação do patrimônio cultural urbano: fundamentos, agentes e práticas urbanísticas / The preservation of urban cultural heritage: foundation, agents and urbanistic practices.

Lino, Fernanda Noia da Costa 30 June 2010 (has links)
The present study deals with the preservation of cultural heritage provided by the State through the exercise of urbanistic activity. More specifically, it analyzes the foundation, agents and practices admitted by Brazilian legal system to reach the goal of preserving, to present and future generations, certain cultural values existing in the cities. The expression urban cultural heritage was adopted in this study as comprehensive of historical and architectural monuments and aggregations taken in an isolated manner - whose cultural values are most easily identified in their physical and material structures as well as of the built and humanized environment of cities (made up of parks, squares and other spaces used in practices and social events), which carries cultural values of immaterial nature, relevant for the ability to provide welfare and quality of life for city residents. As a starting point of this approach, it is briefly mentioned some legislative history pointing out that official concerns with the protection of cultural heritage existed since Antiquity. Next, this work examines the evolutionary reasons given for conservation, as well as the notions of cultural heritage adopted by the main international documents that deal with the issue. It also analyzes the innovations made by the Brazilian Federal Constitution for both the legal concept of cultural heritage and for urban discipline. Deep attention is also devoted to the agents that, according to the Brazilian legal system, are in charge of acting on the preservation of urban cultural heritage or even legitimated to do so. Finally, it also investigates the main urbanistic instruments available to achieve this task, suggesting with proper foundation, that the preservation of urban cultural heritage should be conducted in a planned manner, dispensing na urbanistic view to related issues.

Co-Created Destination Branding for Creative MICE Tourism: Building Synergies with Cultural Heritage Assets

January 2019 (has links)
abstract: This study develops a Creative MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions/conferences and Exhibitions) Tourism Destination Branding Model (CMDBM), and argues for co-creation and synergies between MICE and heritage resources in a popular business destination. MICE tourism can be enhanced through co-created offerings by adding innovative value to MICE tourism experiences. The proposed CMDBM framework aims to help determine how a destination can develop a co-created MICE brand through collaboration with key stakeholders to better meet potential MICE travelers’ other touristic interests and cultural values. The research project was undertaken in collaboration with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and several heritage institutions in New Orleans. The study adopts both qualitative and quantitative research designs to explore the destination brand strategy. The qualitative data were acquired through interviews with relevant stakeholders to analyze the use of destination branding strategies and understand existing and potential synergies with heritage institutions. The quantitative portion measures MICE attendees’ perceptions of the co-created value of enhancing MICE destinations with cultural heritage appeal. NRPA Conference attendees’ responses provide a practical understanding for stakeholders. This research provides both practical and theoretical insights for the tourism industry for destination communities, and has salient conceptual and theoretical implications for the academy. The study confirms that MICE tourism, collaborating with cultural heritage assets, can enrich MICE travelers’ travel experiences. The destination brand strategy was identified with supportive cultural heritage resources and an appropriate destination brand framework of MICE tourism was proposed. As confirmed by MICE attendees’ evaluations from the case study, it extends the literature on destination brand, destination brand awareness, destination brand experience, destination brand personality, and destination brand equity. The empirical exploration of MICE destination branding has been handicapped in existing literature by a lack of conceptual marketing perspectives. This work will lend credence to the important aspect of business destination marketing and stresses building synergy and adding value to MICE tourism experiences. As destination marketing programs become competitive, especially in the context of equitable distribution of monetary benefits across different stakeholders, creating synergies become crucial in the destination. A co-created brand strategy can help make destinations more competitive. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Community Resources and Development 2019

Degradacija i zaštita materijala nepokretnog kulturnog nasleđa / Degradation and protection of the imovable cultural heritage materials

Vučetić Snežana 26 May 2017 (has links)
Ovaj algoritam bi u budućnosti svoju primenu mogao naći u predviđanju pona&scaron;anja razvijenih sistema na drugim supstratima čija je poroznost poznata, čime se skraćuje vreme projektovanja desalinacionih sistema za druge objekte.</p> / <p>The research approach to cultural heritage degradation and protection, presented in this thesis is a holistic one. It involved establishment of methodology for the investigation of original historical materials, the simulation of the degradation processes on laboratory prepared model substrates, as well as the development of novel materials with cleaning function for degraded structures. The thesis encompasses a detailed diagnostics of the medieval Baĉ Fortress, processing (manufacturing and artificial weathering) of brick model substrates with the characteristics similar to the investigated historical materials, and finally, the development and application of clay poultices which were the basis for the design of bioactive systems for the reduction of nitrate salts. These newly developed systems present a combination of moderately efficient clay poultices that are used as a carrier for bacterial culture Pseudomonas stutzeri. These bacteria had a role of increasing the cleaning capacity of the developed clay poultices. The results of the investigation of the efficacy of the developed systems showed that the use of P. stutzeri suspension (directly applied or mixed in the designed poultices) leads to a significant increase of the cleaning capacity of the developed poultices and to the formation of highly efficient bioactive systems for desalination of nitrate salts. Apart from laboratory application, the most efficient newly developed bioactive system was applied in real environmental conditions on the north-eastern rampart of Baĉ fortress, by varying the application procedure (one-step, two-step and three-step application). This system showed more positive performances in real environmental conditions of application compared to the expectations based on laboratory investigations. Based on all the experimental data obtained within laboratory investigations, an algorithm (mathematical modelling of artificial neuron networks) was programed. The developed model could find its application in the assessment of the application parameters of the developed systems on other substrates with known porosity. This would greatly decrease the time needed for the design of desalination systems for other objects.</p>

O Brasil segundo o IPHAN: a preservação do patrimônio cultural brasileiro durante a gestão de Gilberto Gil no MinC (2003-2008) / Brazil according to Iphan: the conservation of Brazilian cultural heritage during Gilberto Gil\'s administration of MinC (2003-2008)

Paiva, Marcelo Cardoso de 17 May 2019 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is the role played by the Institut of National Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) in the development of public policies for the conservation of Brazilian cultural heritage during the administration of the minister Gilberto Gil\'s ahead the Ministry of Culture (MinC). Its goal is to investigate if the considerable broadening of Iphan\'s institutional activity corresponded to a greater share of responsibility with other groups involved in the conservation field and to social involvement of the various \"constituent groups of the Brazilian society\" as states the Federal Constitution of 1988. To do so, Iphan\'s role is analyzed under its institutional, social and conceptual aspects seeking three specific objectives. The first one is the definition of the Brazilian cultural heritage conservation field and the evaluation of its vertical and horizontal institutional impacts upon Iphan, caused by minister Gilberto Gil\'s cultural policies, by other agencies of the Federal Government, by state and municipal public authorities and by sectors of civil society. The second is the identification of social agents and their agencies for legitimizing, contesting or reassuring values in play in the conservation field, including social groups and communities that presented demands for or against the protection of cultural assets by Iphan and also the very public agents of that compose the institution\'s personnel. The third is the survey of the \"heritage supply\" generated by Iphan throughout Gil\'s administration of MinC, evaluating the extensions and limits of the policies implemented by the agency starting from heritage values, representations and roles produced by the institution\'s heritage engineering. This thesis is a result of a PhD research accomplished with the support of an agreement between São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), by means of a PhD scholarship (case n 2014/26158-2) and an overseas research residency scholarship (case n 2017/20853).

Englöf, Anna January 2019 (has links)
This paper analyses – via a case study of Gabriel Djurklou’s Ur Nerikes folkspråk och folklif – the late 19th century regional Swedish cultural heritage discourse, which in the context of nationalism aimed to define an identity and evoke a sense of national kinship. The study focuses on how the use of history served to establish a conception of Swedishness based upon a specific, symbolic idea about the landscape; an idea that included aspects of both culture and nature. Michel Foucault’s theory of power and archaeological method is used to illustrate how the discourse selectively composed an idealistic national image by including certain objects and excluding others, how it determined which relational positions its subject could take in regards to other subjects and the discursive objects, and how subjects were created through a process of objectification. The idea of national identity embraced the rural landscape and peasantry, and it was spread via textual descriptions of the regional landscapes. The paper concludes that the discourse gained and exerted power through its texts, and the analysis illustrate specific ways in which history was used to evoke the sense of kinship by creating an idea about national identity.

The Impact of Contemporary Tourism Development on Colonial Built Heritage: Case Study of the Portuguese Legacy in Macau, China

Chaplin, Robert Ian Chaplin, ianchaplin@gmail.com January 2007 (has links)
The hypothesis put forward in this thesis is that tourism can be the agent for the sustainable conservation and development of the valuable legacy of colonial built heritage by capitalizing on its tangible and intangible assets. The key variable is the recognition of the intrinsic value of both iconic and non-iconic properties and sites that constitute the extrinsic value of the cultural attractions of the tourism destination. The research problem is concerned with assessing the impact of contemporary tourism development on these attractions and identifying the issues affecting preservation and realization of asset potential. The research aims to support the collaboration between tourism professionals and cultural heritage stakeholders committed to resolving issues and problems for the destination identified within the stages of the tourism destination's life cycle of evolution (Butler, 1980).

Persson, Jenny January 2009 (has links)

Konst. Stigma. Identitet. : - En inblick i tatueringskulturen. / Tatoos over time and continents : – as art, stigma and identity

Ellwyn, Troen, Dahl, Jenny January 2010 (has links)
Genom att titta på hur tatueringar, tatuerare och de som tatuerar sig porträtteras i populärkulturen ämnar uppsatsen utröna hur man ser på tatueringar idag.</p> / <p><em> Tattoos over time and continents – as art, stigma and identity</em> explores by a litterature study  the cultural significance of tattoos’s throughout history.</p><p> Tattooing has been practiced by mankind all over the world for thousands of years and evidence also suggests that tattooing was practiced in ancient Greece and in Rome. Many different cultures have used tattooing for a wide variety of reasons and given the tattoos their great cultural and social meaning. Tattoos have been used to mark prisoners, slaves and other stigmatisiced groups, but also as a sign of status and a mark of identity and heritage. Is it possible to find similarities in different tattoocultures, presented in literature, despite differences in both time and place?</p><p> This thesis also explores how tattoos are presented in the field of popular culture today by analyzing two reality-shows: Miami Ink and LA Ink.  The thesis seeks to investigate if some of the ways tattoos have been presented in history can be seen in the way they are presented in popular culture today. The thesis analyses how the tattoos, the tattoo artists and their clients are portrayed in popular culture in order to investigate how tattoos are seen today.  <strong></strong></p>
