Testbänk till styrenheter via CANalyzer och Arduino : - En studie om systemutveckling

Syftet med arbetet var att undersöka möjligheten att utveckla en testbänk som kan underlätta felsökning och testning till fem olika ECU:er. 93 utgångar, bland annat DAC:ar, digitala- och frekvensutgångar finns med i kravspecifikationerna. Dessa utgångar styrs utifrån paneler i CANalyzer med hjälp av programmering i Arduino och CANalyzers egna språk CAPL. Testbänken visar goda resultat och har fått positiv respons från företaget, den levererar de förväntade värdena på samtliga 93 utgångar med en felmarginal på max 3%. Det finns begränsningar med att bygga denna typ av testbänk kopplade till komponentval, tid och resurser.

A arquitetura do Sistema Humanitário Internacional no século XXI está em expansão. Não somente os recursos aportados têm crescido, como também o número de atores envolvidos como doadores, tais como organizações internacionais governamentais e não governamentais. Os países são os maiores provedores de assistência humanitária, e este grupo também apresenta ampliação. Tradicionalmente, os países membros do Comitê de Assistência ao Desenvolvimento, da Organização para Cooperação e Desenvolvimento Econômico (DAC/OCDE) são os atores mais antigos do sistema humanitário contemporâneo e os que mais aportam recursos. A literatura recente, contudo, aponta para a emergência de outros países doadores de fora do grupo, que estariam trazendo mudanças na governança internacional do sistema. Os estudos sobre os doadores \"Não DAC\" carecem de dados precisos, sendo, em sua maioria, baseados em estimativas. Esta pesquisa visa a aprofundar os conhecimentos sobre a atuação desses doadores, valendo-se de estatística descritiva de dados primários de organizações multilaterais do sistema humanitário da Organização das Nações Unidas para se poder mais bem compreender o grau de participação financeiro que os doadores \"Não DAC\" agregam ao sistema. Além disso, o estudo apresenta uma análise de como o Brasil age como doador de assistência humanitária internacional. / The architecture of the International Humanitarian System in the 21st century is expanding. Not only the resources contributed have increased, but also the number of actors involved as donors, such as international governmental and non-governmental organizations. Countries are the largest providers of humanitarian assistance, and this group is also expanding. Traditionally, the member countries of the Development Assistance Committee of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD / DAC) are the primary actors in the contemporary humanitarian system and those who provide the majority of the resources. Recent literature, however, points to the emergence of other donor countries outside the group that might be bringing changes in the international governance of the system. Studies on \"non-DAC\" donors lack accurate data and are mostly based on estimates. This research aims to deepen knowledge about the performance of these donors, using descriptive statistics on primary data from multilateral organizations of the United Nations humanitarian system to better understand the degree of financial participation that \"Non-DAC\" donors add to the system. Furthermore, the study presents an analysis of Brazil\'s actions as a donor of international humanitarian assistance.

On High-Speed Digital-to-Analog Converters and Semi-Digital FIR Filters

High-speed and high-resolution digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are vital components in all telecommunication systems. Radio-frequency digital-to-analog converter (RFDAC) provides high-speed and high-resolution conversion from digital domain to an analog signal. RFDACs can be employed in direct-conversion radio transmitter architectures. The idea of RFDAC is to utilize an oscillatory pulse-amplitude modulation instead of the conventional zero-order hold pulse amplitude modulation, which results in DAC output spectrum to have high energy high-frequency lobe, other than the Nyquist main lobe. The frequency of the oscillatory pulse can be chosen, with respect to the sample frequency, such that the aliasing images of the signal at integer multiples of the sample frequency are landed in the high-energy high-frequency lobes of the DAC frequency response. Therefore the high-frequency images of the signal can be used as the output of the DAC, i.e., no need to the mixing stage for frequency up-conversion after the DAC in the radio transmitter. The mixing stage however is not eliminated but it is rather moved into the DAC elements and therefore the local oscillator (LO) signal with high frequency should be delivered to each individual DAC element. In direct-conversion architecture of IQ modulators which utilize the RFDAC technique, however, there is a problem of finite image rejection. The origin of this problem is the different polarity of the spectral response of the oscillatory pulse-amplitude modulation in I and Q branches. The conditions where this problem can be alleviated in IQ modulator employing RFDACs is also discussed in this work. ΣΔ modulators are used preceding the DAC in the transmitter chain to reduce the digital signal’s number of bits, still maintain the same resolution. By utilizing the ΣΔ modulator now the total number of DAC elements has decreased and therefore the delivery of the high-frequency LO signal to each DAC element is practical. One of the costs of employing ΣΔ modulator, however, is a higher quantization noise power at the output of the DAC. The quantization noise is ideally spectrally shaped to out-of-band frequencies by the ΣΔ modulator. The shaped noise which usually has comparatively high power must be filtered out to fulfill the radio transmission spectral mask requirement. Semi-digital FIR filter can be used in the context of digital-to-analog conversion, cascaded with ΣΔ modulator to filter the out-of-band noise by the modulator. In the same time it converts the signal from digital domain to an analog quantity. In general case, we can have a multi-bit, semi-digital FIR filter where each tap of the filter is realized with a sub-DAC of M bits. The delay elements are also realized with M-bit shift registers. If the output of the modulator is given by a single bit, the semi-digital FIR filter taps are simply controlled by a single switch assuming a current-steering architecture DAC. One of the major advantages is that the static linearity of the DAC is optimum. Since there are only two output levels available in the DAC, the static transfer function, regardless of the mismatch errors, is always given by a straight line. In this work, the design of SDFIR filter is done through an optimization procedure where the ΣΔ noise transfer function is also taken into account. Different constraints are defined for different applications in formulation of the SDFIR optimization problem. For a given radio transmitter application the objective function can be defined as, e.g., the hardware cost for SDFIR implementation while the constraint can be set to fulfill the radio transmitter spectral emission mask.

A Modular Approach to Hardened Subminiature Telemetry and Sensor System (HSTSS) Development

Programs have developed expensive monolithic systems to meet the needs of specific programs, but they often require extensive redesign for use by other potential users. The tri-service HSTSS Integrated Product Team (IPT) determined that a monolithic “one size fits all” approach has technical and fiscal risks. Thus, a modular approach to system development has been adopted. The HSTSS IPT is flight qualifying commercial microelectronic products designed for environments similar to that of munition interiors, and is developing microelectronic components required to complete a subminiature system. HSTSS components can then be integrated to support the form factor and measurement needs of any given user. In addition to offering a flexible system to the user, the HSTSS lends itself to upgradability (modernization through spares).

Syftet med utrustningen är att använda denna för att underlätta vidare utveckling av organisk elektronik vilket är ett av Acreo AB:s forskningsområden. Istället för att till varje ny komponent eller system utveckla ett nytt testsystem kan denna modell användas på ett generellt sätt, vilket sparar värdefull utvecklingstid. I avhandlingen presenteras först de krav som utrustningen ska uppfylla följt av några förslag på lösningar. Därefter väljs ett av förslagen och en grundläggande implementering genomförs med hänsyn mot kraven. Slutligen innehåller rapporten förslag på hur vidare arbete med modellen kan ske.</p> / <p>This bachelor thesis describes the developing of a model for combined steering and measuring equipment. The purpose is to ease further developing of organic electronics, which is one of Acreo AB’s research areas. A test system is needed for every new component or system developed. Instead of constructing a new test environment for every case this equipment will be a general solution that will save valuable developing time. This thesis will first present the requirements followed by some proposal solutions. Thereafter one proposal will be chosen and an essential implementation will be done with consideration of the requirements. Finally the thesis contains suggestions on how to further develop the model.</p>

Digital-To-Analog Converter for FSK

<p>This thesis is one part of a overall task of designing a module for frequency shift keying (FSK) to be used in an Ultra Wide Band (UWB) system. The FSK system has a Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) and Digital-to-Analog (DAC). The DACs differential current signals are directly fed to a RF (Radio Frequency) unit that generates the UWB RF signal.</p><p>The focus of this thesis is on DAC while the DDS is developed in VHDL as another thesis work. This thesis demonstrates a low-power, ultra wide band 10 bit DAC with an update frequency of 24 MSPS(Mega Samples Per Second). The DAC uses a L-fold linear interpolation architecture. It includes a 16-tap voltage controlled delay line and a 10 bit binary-weighted DAC with a time interleaved structure. The linear interpolation technique improves the attenuation of mirror components and also reduces the glitch. This helps to relax the analog filter requirements and sometimes an off chip capacitor is enough as low pass filter. The attenuation of image components is doubled in decibels(dB) compared with that of conventional DAC.</p><p>In this work various DAC architectures are studied. The current-steering DAC is chosen due to its high speed and high resolution. A binary weighted architecture is chosen to reduce the digital circuits. This helped in reducing the power consumption. The design and simulation is done with help of Cadence. The layout is done in Cadence Virtuoso and the DDS is integrated with the DAC. The chip is to be manufactured in 130 nm CMOS process.</p>

Time and statistical information utilization in high efficiency sub-micron CMOS successive approximation analog to digital converters

In an industrial and consumer electronic marketplace that is increasingly demanding greater real-world interactivity in portable and distributed devices, analog to digital converter efficiency and performance is being carefully examined. The successive approximation (SAR) analog to digital converter (ADC) architecture has become popular for its high efficiency at mid-speed and resolution requirements. This is due to the one core single bit quantizer, lack of residue amplification, and large digital domain processing allowing for easy process scaling. This work examines the traditional binary capacitive SAR ADC time and statistical information and proposes new structures that optimize ADC performance. The Ternary SAR (TSAR) uses the quantizer delay information to enhance accuracy, speed and power consumption of the overall SAR while providing multi-level redundancy. The early reset merged capacitor switching SAR (EMCS) identifies lost information in the SAR subtraction and optimizes a full binary quanitzer structure for a Ternary MCS DAC. Residue Shaping is demonstrated in SAR and pipeline configurations to allow for an extra bit of signal to noise quantization ratio (SQNR) due to multi-level redundancy. The feedback initialized ternary SAR (FITSAR) is proposed which splits a TSAR into separate binary and ternary sub-ADC structures for speed and power benefits with an inter-stage encoding that not only maintains residue shaping across the binary SAR, but allows for nearly optimally minimal energy consumption for capacitive ternary DACs. Finally, the ternary SAR ideas are applied to R2R DACs to reduce power consumption.
