Hybrid Beamforming Design for Full-Duplex mmWave Relaying Systems

With the tremendous growth in the mobile data traffic, the demand for highdata rate is increasing rapidly, and higher frequency resources shall be exploredto alleviate the congestion in the overcrowded spectrum, thus, the millimeterwave (mmWave) frequency resource ranging from 30 GHz to 300 GHz has beenrecognized as a nature fit for the fifth-generation (5G) and beyond network. Tocompensate the severe path-loss in the mmWave band as well to realize theefficient transmissions by applying the low-cost architecture, it is of intereststo investigate the beamforming schemes with large-scale antenna arrays andthe full-duplex (FD) relaying strategy, which are indispensable in the operationof directional signal transmission and the efficient spectrum utilization inthe mmWave transmission, respectively. However, the self-interference (SI)occurring between the separate antenna arrays is the main impediment inrealizing a FD wireless node while considering the simultaneous transmission andreception.This thesis project aims to design efficient hybrid beamforming algorithms toimprove spectral efficiency and eliminate SI. The orthogonal matching pursuit(OMP)-based hybrid analog-digital beamforming design, and the alternatingdirection method of multipliers (ADMM)-based schemes are explored to improvethe spectral efficiency and eliminate the SI in this work. On the deflection of s32003 stainless steel beams

Presented in this work are the results of twelve flexural tests conducted on small-scale coupons to establish the load-deflection behavior of UNS S32003 (ATI 2003®) hot-rolled duplex stainless steel flat plates. All specimens were tested as simply supported beams loaded at the midspan. Test specimens had nominal width and thickness of 1 in. and 0.25 in., respectively. Four different span lengths of 4 in., 6 in., 9 in., and 12 in. were investigated. Analysis of the results showed that the non-linear deflection behavior can be estimated reasonably well by adopting the conventional deflection equation pertaining to an assumed linear elastic material, but after replacing the modulus of elasticity with a secant modulus corresponding to the maximum tension strain resulting from the applied load.

This thesis discusses on results of experiments carried outwith austenitic, duplex and super duplex stainless steels andTi-6Al-4V. In these it has been seen that the heat cycle duringwelding or weld simulation has a great effect on the propertiesof thematerials. The properties are related to the resultedgrain size after processing, as well as, to the chemicalcomposition of the material. The thesis discusses on the grainsize resulted after hot processing and how the properties areinfluenced by it. Also, it has been seen how large grain sizeinfluences the fracture toughness of the duplex stainlesssteel. The CTOD values become so low that an alternativeproduction method should be used instead of casting. The thesisdescribes the behavior of grain size in the hot processing ofTi-6Al-4V and impact toughness resulted by various weldingprocesses. The thesis shows correlation between grain growthbehavior of metallurgically different materials, i.e. duplexstainless steel, Ti-6Al-4V and quenced and tempered low alloysteel. Very high cycle fatigue of duplex stainless steels and stress intensity calculations

Very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) is generally considered as the domain of fatigue lifetime beyond 10 million (107) load cycles. Few examples of structural components which are subjected to 107-109 load cycles during their service life are engine parts, turbine disks, railway axles and load-carrying parts of automobiles. Therefore, the safe and reliable operation of these components depends on the knowledge of their fatigue strength and the prevalent damage/failure mechanisms. Moreover, the fatigue life of materials in the VHCF regime is controlled by the fatigue crack initiation and early growth stage of short cracks. This study was focussed on the evaluation of fatigue properties of duplex stainless steels in the VHCF regime using the ultrasonic fatigue testing equipment. The ultrasonic fatigue tests were conducted on the cold rolled duplex stainless strip steel and hot rolled duplex stainless steel grades. Two different geometries of ultrasonic fatigue test specimens were tested. Considerable attention was devoted to the evaluation of fatigue crack initiation and growth mechanisms using the high resolution scanning electron microscopy. The fatigue crack initiation was found to be surface initiated phenomena in all the tested grades, albeit different in each case. The second part of this thesis work was the development of a distributed dislocation dipole technique for the analysis of multiple straight, kinked and branched cracks in an elastic half plane. Cracks with dimensions much smaller than the overall size of the domain were considered. The main goal of the development of this technique was the evaluation of stress intensity factor at each crack tip. The comparison of results from the stress intensity factor evaluation by the developed procedure and the well-established Finite Element Method software ABAQUS showed difference of less than 1% for Jacobi polynomial expansion of sixth order in the dipole density representation. / <p>Article III was still in manuscript form at the time of the defense.</p> / Very high cycle fatigue of stainless steels

Avaliação ultrassonográfica ao duplex Doppler colorido da varicocele / Doppler sonographic evaluation of varicoceles

INTRODUÇÃO: A varicocele é a dilatação das veias do plexo pampiniforme do testículo. A associação entre a varicocele e a infertilidade é diagnosticada em 20 a 40% dos homens inférteis. Atualmente, o estudo ultrassonográfico da varicocele é realizado com o paciente na posição supina antes e durante a realização de Valsalva, levando-se em consideração o diâmetro das veias (> 0,20cm), e a presença de refluxo maior que 1, segundo ao estudo Doppler espectral. OBJETIVO: A) Propor uma nova metodologia na avaliação ultrassonográfica da varicocele. B) Avaliar a concordância dos achados no exame ultrassonográfico com Doppler colorido dos vasos dos plexos pampiniformes e as alterações no espermograma na infertilidade masculina. C) Avaliar a correlação entre o diâmetro de um dos vasos dos plexos pampiniformes e as alterações no espermograma na infertilidade masculina. MÉTODOS: Foram examinados 266 pacientes, provenientes do setor de reprodução humana do Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade de São Paulo (HCUSP), por meio de duplex Doppler colorido, inicialmente com o paciente em decúbito dorsal e posteriormente, após 5 minutos de espera, na posição ortostática, realizando as medidas dos diâmetros transversais dos plexos pampiniforme nas duas posições, tanto em repouso como em Valsalva. Ao estudo pulsado foi considerado refluxo patológico apenas quando persistia por mais de 1 segundo, com uma velocidade superior que 2 cm/s. Estes pacientes também foram submetidos a analise seminal. RESULTADOS: Em relação à metodologia de realização do exame, observou-se aumento no diâmetro do plexo pampiniforme apenas com a variação da posição de cerca de 18% à direita e 5,9% à esquerda, bem como aumento na detecção do refluxo venoso na posição ortostática, de 23% à direita e 6,8% à esquerda. Observou-se também correlação direta entre as alterações no espermograma com o refluxo venoso, 65% à direita e 86% à esquerda, o mesmo não ocorrendo com o diâmetro do plexo pampiniforme. CONCLUSÕES: A) O exame de ultrassongrafia com Doppler colorido deve ser realizado na posição ortostática, após um período de latência de no mínimo cinco minutos, com condições ambientais confortáveis e manobra de esforço. B) Houve concordância significativa entre o refluxo venoso nos plexos pampiniformes e as alterações do espermograma. C) Não há correlação significativa entre o diâmetro de um dos vasos dos plexos pampiniformes e o espermograma / INTRODUCTION: Varicocele is the dilatation of the veins of the pampiniform plexus of the testicle. The association between varicocele and infertility is diagnosed in 20 to 40% of the infertile men. Currently, in the ultrasound study of varicocele, the diameter of the veins is carried through with the patient in the supine position, before and during the Valsalva maneuver, taking the diameter of the veins consideration (> 0,20cm), and a more than 1 second bigger presence of reflux according to spectral Doppler study. OBJECTIVE: A) To consider a new methodology in the ultrasonographic evaluation of varicocele. B) To evaluate the agreement of the findings in the colorful Doppler ultrasonographic examination of the pampiniform plexus vases with the alterations in the spermogram in masculine infertility. C) To evaluate the correlation between the diameter of one the pampiniform plexus vases and the alterations in the spermogram in the masculine infertility. METHODS: 266 patients from the reproduction sector human being of the Hospital of the Clinics of the University of São Paulo (HCUSP) had been examined, by means of colorful duplex-Doppler, initially with the patient in dorsal decubitus and later, after 5 minutes, in the orthostatic position, carrying through the transversal measures of the diameter of the pampiniform plexus in the two positions, in rest and in Valsalva. To the pulse study reflux was considered pathological only when persisted for more than 1 second, with speed superior to 2 cm/s. These patients were also submitted to seminal analysis. RESULTS: Regarding the methodology of accomplishment of the examination, an increase in the diameter of pampiniform plexus was noted only with the variation of the examination position, about 18% to the right and 5,9% to the left, as well as an increase in the detection of venous reflux in the orthostatic position, 23% to right and 6,8% to the left. It was also detected a correct correlation between variations in the spermogram and the venous reflux, 65% to the right and 86% to the left, the same not occurring with the diameter of pampiniform plexus. CONCLUSIONS: A) The colorful Doppler ultrasound examination must be carried through in the orthostatic position, after a period of latency of at least five minutes, with comfortable environement conditions and effort maneuver. B) A significant accordance between the pampiniform plexus venous reflux and the alterations of the spermogram. C) It does not have significant correlation between the diameter of one of the pampiniform plexus vases and the spermogram

A produção economicamente viável dos aços inoxidáveis duplex, pressupõe a utilização de sucatas e retornos de ligas contendo altos teores de elementos como Cr, Ni e Mo. O aproveitamento destes materiais pode entretanto, introduzir na composição química outros elementos não previstos pela norma do material sendo produzido. Este trabalho estudou a influência do Nb na microestrutura e nas propriedades mecânicas do aço inoxidável superduplex fundido SEW 410 W. Nr. 1.4517, bem como sobre as etapas de fabricação de um produto fundido. Os teores de Nb estudados foram 0%, 0,2%, 0,5% e 1,5% (% em peso). Foi dado ênfase às microestruturas e propriedades no estado bruto de fundição, após tratamento térmico de solubilização e finalmente, após envelhecimento das amostras solubilizadas. Foram utilizadas diversas técnicas de avaliação microestrutural: microscopia ótica, metalografia quantitativa, microscopia eletrônica de varredura e de transmissão, análise química de microregiões com microssonda eletrônica, ensaios magnéticos via ferritoscópio e ensaios dilatométricos. Os ensaios mecânicos realizados foram: dureza, ensaio de tração e ensaio Charpy. A análise dos resultados demonstrou que o Nb causou uma sensível alteração na microestrutura e nas propriedades mecânicas da liga, dificultando o processo de produção de uma peça fundida. / To produce duplex stainless steel in an economic way it is necessary to use scrap and process returns containing high Cr, Ni and Mo contents. This procedure can result in an unexpected alloy chemical composition with some elements not included in the material standard. This work studied the Nb influence on the microstructure and mechanical properties of cast super duplex stainless steel SEW 410 W. Nr. 1.4517, as well as the influence over the fabrication process of a casting. The Nb contents studied were 0%, 0,2%, 0,5% and 1,5% (weight %). Emphasis was given to the microstructures and mechanical properties in as cast condition, after solution heat treatment and finally after aging of previous solution heat treated samples. Several microstructural analysis techniques were used: optical microscopy, quantitative metallography, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, chemical microanalysis using energy dispersive spectrometry, magnetic phase detection using feritscope and dilatometry. The mechanical testing realized were hardness testing, tension testing and Charpy impact testing. Results analysis demonstrated that Nb caused an appreciable change on microstructure and mechanical properties of the material, making difficult the fabrication process of a casting.

Contribuição ao estudo da integridade superficial de um aço inoxidável super-duplex após usinagem. / Contribution to study effects of the turning operations in the surface integrity in a super duplex stainless steel.

Este trabalho teve por objetivo estudar os efeitos da operação de torneamento na integridade superficial do aço inoxidável super-duplex ASTM A890 - Gr 6A. O foco do trabalho foram as operações de acabamento, porém também foram realizados alguns estudos com operações de desbaste, ambas utilizando planejamentos fatoriais completos com 2 níveis e 5 fatores. Os ensaios foram realizados em centros de torneamento com ferramentas de metal duro e tiveram como variáveis: a geometria da ferramenta / classe da pastilha, avanço, profundidade de corte, velocidade de corte e utilização ou não de fluido de corte. As respostas estudadas foram: análise microestrutural óptica e por difração de raios-X, medição de forças através de um dinamômetro piezoelétrico, rugosidade superficial, micro-dureza, tensão residual através de difração de raios-x e estabilidade dimensional. Os resultados não mostraram alterações microestruturais no material mesmo nas operações de desbaste que foram as mais severas. As outras respostas foram correlacionadas com os parâmetros de corte e a melhor combinação destes foi encontrada para a obtenção da melhor integridade superficial. O menor avanço (0,1mm/v), a menor velocidade de corte (110m/min) e a maior profundidade de corte (0,5mm) obtiveram os menores valores para a tensão residual, a menor rugosidade e o maior valor de micro-dureza. A correlação entre as respostas foi bastante difícil de ser estabelecida, uma vez que as interações tiveram grande influência nas análises, porém para algumas combinações estas correlações se mostraram possíveis de serem estabelecidas. / The objective of this work was to study the effects of the turning operations in the surface integrity in a super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) ASTM A890-Gr6A. The focus of the work was the finishing operations but some tests in rough operations were carried out. A complete factorial planning was used for both, with 2 levels and 5 factors. The tests were conducted on turning centers with carbide tools and the main input variables were: tool geometry / tool material class, feed rate, cutting depth, cutting speed and the cutting fluid utilization. The analyzed answers were: microstructure analysis by optical microscopy and x-ray diffraction, cutting measurements by a piezoelectric dynamometer, surface roughness, micro-hardness, residual stress by x-ray diffraction technique and dimensional stability. The results do not showed any changes in the microstructure of the material, even when the greater cutting values were used. All the other answers were correlated with the cutting parameters and the best combination of cutting parameters was founded for the best surface integrity. The smaller feed rate (0,1mm/v), smaller cutting speed (110m/min) and greater cutting depth (0,5mm) provided the smaller values for the tension residual stress, the smaller roughness and the greater micro-hardness. The correlation between all the answers was very difficult to analyze because there was great interaction between the factors, but for some data groups it was possible.

Processamento de aço inoxidável dúplex por extrusão em canal angular

The processed material was heat treated at 1000° and 1200°C during 7.5, 15, 30 and 60 minutes, in order to evaluate the recovery aspects and recrystallization steps of the severely deformed duplex steel. The die was manufacturing from SAE 1045 steel (cemented, quenched and annealed) and heat treated and the plungers from tool steel. The extrusions were conducted at room temperature, using a universal type mechanical test machine, according three different pressing speeds: 1.5, 6.0 and 12.0 mm/min. The processing stress increase continuously during extrusion by friction forces between sample and die walls and very high pressing stress level was reached. The results show the increase of stress according to increase of speed processing. For 1,5 mm/min processing speed, the second pass could be done with maximum reached stress close to 3GPa. The friction forces promoted a very heterogeneous deformations process along the samples sections with increase of hardness from 257HV (start material) to 575HV (highest deformed point). This effect was observed by grains morphology and orientations changes after processing and along the sample dimensions. In the as heat treated samples surfaces two distinct structures type formation was verified with small surfaces positioned with well defined angles near of 90° and 109° between itself. The region with 90° between surfaces show a lot of cubic form structure probably as a consequence of dislocation pile up annihilation on the surface of body-centered-cubic phase (ferrite). In this crystalline structure, the slip system occurs mainly in the {110} planes which have 90º between then. In another side, the slip planes of face-centered-cubic structure slip systems (planes {111}) make 109º angles between then and consequently, dislocation annihilation on the surface may result in structures with this angles on the austenite regions. Sample surface observations detected “roof like” morphology with a well defined near 109º structures which suggest the dislocation annihilation on austenite. Another structure detected on the sample surface was the cold induced martensite. The preliminary evaluation of recrystallization of some processed and treated samples, at 1000°C for 7,5, 15 and 30 minutes identified located points of recrystallization in the grain contours. With increase of the time of heat treatment from 7,5 to 15 minutes, increase of recrystallization nuclei was detected, whereas after treatment of 30 minutes verifies increase of the size of crystals formed without expressive increase of the number of nucleis. / Este trabalho tem por objetivo processar um aço inoxidável dúplex de estrutura austenítica-ferrítica, tipo UNS S32205/S31803, através da extrusão em canal angular (ECA) e caracterizar o aço processado. O princípio da ECA está baseado na aplicação de uma deformação plástica severa, a uma temperatura relativamente baixa, sem nenhuma mudança nas dimensões da seção transversal do material. A matriz utilizada na extrusão foi construída a partir de um aço 1045, cementado e temperado, e os punções de aço ferramenta. A extrusão foi realizada a temperatura ambiente usando uma máquina de ensaios mecânicos, em três velocidades diferentes de aplicação da pressão de extrusão: 1,5, 6,0 e 12 mm/min. A tensão necessária para realizar a extrusão aumentou continuamente ao longo do processamento, atingindo valores próximos 3GPa. Isto é devido, principalmente, à força de atrito entre o corpo de prova e as paredes o canal da matriz. Os resultados também mostram que o aumento da tensão atingida durante o processamento está relacionado à velocidade de processamento e número de passes. A força de atrito promoveu grande heterogeneidade de deformação ao longo das seções das amostras com aumento de dureza de 257HV (material recebido) para 575HV(ponto que sofreu maior deformação). Este efeito foi observado pela morfologia e mudança de orientação dos grãos ao longo das dimensões da amostra processadas. Após o processamento, algumas amostras do material foram termicamente tratadas a 1000° e 1200°C por períodos 7,5, 15, 30 e 60 minutos. Na superfície das amostras processadas por 2 passes de ECA, a temperatura ambiente, com velocidade de 1,5 mm/min. e posterior tratamento térmico a 1200°C por 60 min, foi verificado formação de dois tipos de estruturas distintas com pequenas superfícies posicionadas com ângulos de 90° e ângulos próximos a 109° bem definidos entre si. A região de 90° entre as superfícies mostra uma estrutura predominante de formas cúbicas, provavelmente em conseqüências da aniquilação de empilhamento de discordância na superfície cúbica de corpo centrado da fase ferrita. Na estrutura cristalina, o sistema de deslizamento ocorre principalmente nos planos {110}, os quais têm ângulos de 90° entre si. Por outro lado, os planos de deslizamento da estrutura cúbica de face centrada, {111}, formam ângulos próximos a 109° entre eles e consequentemente, a aniquilação de discordância na superfície resulta em estruturas na região da austenita. A observação da superfície das amostras detectou uma morfologia semelhante a um telhado (“roof like”) com estruturas com ângulos próximos a 109°, os quais sugerem a aniquilação de discordância na austenita. Outra estrutura detectada nas superfícies das amostras processado por ECA com 1 passe a velocidade de 1,5mm/min. e posterior tratamento térmico a 1200°C durante 60 minutos, foi a martensita induzida por deformação a frio. A avaliação preliminar da recristalização de algumas amostras processadas por ECA com 1 passe a velocidade de 1,5mm/min., e posterior tratamento térmico a 1000°C por 7,5, 15 e 30 minutos identificou pontos localizados de recristalização nos contornos de grão. Com o aumento do tempo de tratamento térmico de 7,5 para 15 minutos, aumentou o número de núcleos de recristalização, ao passo que após tratamento por 30 minutos foi verificado aumento no tamanho dos cristais formados sem expressivo aumento o número de núcleos

Orientador: Vicente Afonso Ventrella / Resumo: Os aços inoxidáveis duplex e superduplex são materiais muito importantes, tanto economicamente, quanto tecnologicamente. Esses materiais possuem uma microestrutura binária, composta de 50% ferrita e 50% austenita, combinando resistência à corrosão com resistência mecânica. A soldagem a laser desses materiais faz com que ocorra desbalanceamento entra as fases da microestrutura do metal de solda, havendo formação excessiva de ferrita, e assim, perdendo suas características de resistência à corrosão e propriedades mecânicas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo aumentar a proporção de austenita no metal de solda através da soldagem à laser Nd:YAG pulsado, autógena e dissimilar, dos aços inoxidáveis superduplex UNS S32750 e superaustenítico AISI 904L, sendo este um material rico em níquel, elemento gerador de austenita. A soldagem foi feita em uma junta de topo, variando-se a taxa de sobreposição do cordão de solda em cinco condições, de 50% até 90%. A energia de pulso foi fixada em 30 J, com potência de pico de 3 kW, largura temporal de 10 ms e frequência de 3 Hz. Argônio puro foi utilizado como gás de proteção, com vazão de 15 l/min. As macrografias mostraram que a redução na taxa de sobreposição gera áreas sem solda, além de porosidades. Não observou-se formação da zona termicamente afetada macroscopicamente visível. A fratura no ensaio de tração ocorreu no metal base superaustenítico, exceto na amostra com 50% de sobreposição que fraturou no metal de solda. O ensaio de microdureza... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Duplex and super duplex stainless steels are very important materials, both economically and technologically. These materials have a binary microstructure, composed by 50% ferrite and 50% austenite, combining corrosion resistance with mechanical strength. The laser welding of these materials causes imbalance between the microstructural phases of the weld metal, with excessive ferrite formation, losing its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The main goal of this work is to increase the austenite proportion of the weld metal, through an autogenous and dissimilar pulsed Nd: YAG laser welding of the super duplex stainless steel UNS S32750 with the super austenitic stainless steel AISI 904L, which is a nickel-rich material. The welding was performed in a butt joint configuration, controlling the overlapping rate in five different conditions, from 50% to 90%. The pulse energy was fixed in 30 J, with peak power of 3 kW, temporal width of 10 ms and frequency of 3 Hz. Pure argon was used as protection gas, with a flow rate of 15 l/min. The macrographs showed that reducing the overlap rate generates large weld-free areas and porosities. There was no sign of macroscopically visible heat affected zone formation. The tensile test fracture occurred in the superaustenitic parent metal, except the 50% overlapping sample, that fractured in the weld metal.
