Význam lidského kapitálu pro Dánskou hospodářskou politiku na příkladu podpory vysokoškolských studentů / The importance of human capital for Danish economic policy on the example of subsidized higher education

Tyburcová, Iva January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis addresses the tertiary education in Denmark. Education and investment in human capital are the key factors for economic growth nowadays. This thesis describes a system of education in Denmark, focusing on tertiary education. It analyzes the indicators that are related to higher education. Among these indicators are length of study, the amount of earnings according to educational attainment and unemployment. These indicators are presented in an international context and are compared with the values of countries in the European Union and countries belonging to the OECD. This thesis is focused on the Danish tertiary education mainly because in Denmark, college students are viewed differently than in the Czech Republic. Students at universities in Denmark have the option to receive subsidies and loans that are available to everyone. As a result, Denmark ranks among countries with the highest expenditure on education relative to GDP. In conclusion, the thesis evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the system in Denmark and also comes up with proposals to improve the system.

The burka ban - liberation or oppression? A discourse analysis of the Danish ‘burka ban’ from a gender equality perspective

Have, Benedikte January 2018 (has links)
This thesis concerns the recent debate about the so-called cover ban in Denmark, which has been known in media as the ‘burka ban’. The ban involves an illegalization of covering of the face that does not have a justifiable cause like weather conditions. Through a discourse analysis of media articles the aim of this thesis is to identify which arguments are represented in this debate. The material for the analysis is found in the two major Danish newspapers; Politiken and Berlingske. The analysis is inspired by the theories of Norman Fairclough. The theoretical framework of the thesis is centered on theories regarding gender equality and feminism, and the analysis focuses on the discourses of these topics that are reproduced in the debate. The results show how the discourse of gender equality is the most prominent in the debate, and it shows how this discourse is naturalized. Within this discourse, there is an element of liberation of women, and this liberation is presented as the goal for all women. Furthermore, only the majority has access to this discourse, and it is not possible for the minority to negotiate it in any way. I discuss how the debate can be seen as an expression of the discourse about Islam in Denmark in general, as well as how the ban can be seen in a context of objectification of the female body.

Marketisation of Security

Bjønness, Martine January 2018 (has links)
Entangled in a context of increased use of private military and security companies globally, this study sets out to investigate the motivation for Denmark to use private military and security companies (PMSCs) for maritime security in parilious international waters. This study examines the decision making process taking place in the Danish Parliament in 2012 prior to the passing of Law 116 The amendment of the Firearms Act and the Act on Warfare, etc. that mandated the shipping industry to hire PMSCs for armed protection of their vessels. A critical discourse analysis has been applied in order to understand the discursive mechanisms present in the political debate prior to the adoption of the law. The analysis shows that a neoliberal market discourse of necessity, efficiency and competition informs the parliamentary debate on international maritime security and pirate threats. That is, the protecting of the Danish industry and trade are found to be a first priority whereas personal security of the employees, the pirates, and control over weapons are only secondary. The findings indicate that in the political discourse, security has become subjected to a marketlogic. Thus, security is referred to as security for the market more than for the population. The thesis argues that this change in thinking about security needs a critical public debate in order to make sure that issues of security stay within the political sphere.

Arkitektens roll i byggprocessen : En jämförande studie om skillnader mellan Sverige och Danmark / The architects’ role in the construction process : A comparison study on differences between Sweden and Denmark

Hed, Max, Lans, Sofie January 2019 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to compare the architect’s role in Sweden and Denmark. As geographical neighbors the countries differ a lot when it comes to innovative architecture. This may be due to several different factors, but with the combined impact, the roles in practice will be affected during the construction process. The aim of the essay is thus to describe and see what distinguishes the architect’s role in the construction process in Sweden from that in Denmark based on three selected categories:  The construction process and its contract forms  Economy and time  The view on the architects’ role Method: The methods that will be used is literature studies and qualitative interviews. The interviews aim to explain the architects’ role and how they interpret it. The literature studies aim to present a clear purpose, provide a necessary factual background and design a relevant theoretical framework. Findings: Architectural qualities are neglected when the architect in Sweden lacks economic arguments and rarely gets to be as involved as other actors during the process. In Denmark, architects are more often given a more anchored role in the projects, which contributes to them being able to argue for the architectural qualities even during production. Implications: Through further education in construction economics and project management, the architect could play a more influential role in the construction process. The client should engage the architect in the early stages of the projects and in orderto maintain the original intention, the client and the contractor must understand the importance of architectural qualities. Limitations: The study was limited to investigate and compare underlying causes of the role differences with regard to the structure of the construction process and the contract forms, economy and time and the different actors’ views on the architect’s role for the architect as a consultant and not for architects who act as builders

Vládní přístupy v boji proti násilnému extremismu a radikalizaci: Komparativní analýza Spojeného království a Dánského království / Governmental Approaches Towards Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalisation: A Comparative Analysis of the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Denmark

Haringová, Ingrida January 2018 (has links)
This thesis compares counter and deradicalization policies of the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Denmark. Both countries have one of the oldest policies in Europe and are characterized as different, even opposite, and therefore were chosen for the comparative analysis. Thesis assesses concrete policy initiatives preventing radicalization mainly in prisons, schools, on the Internet, governments' deradicalization initiatives; initiatives addressing foreign fighters, the extremist ideology; and other approaches in preventing radicalization. The comparison is based on the theoretical-analytical framework of the most prominent theoretical approaches towards explaining radicalization. Through the comparison, the thesis explores, sometime subtle, differences and similarities of both approaches and links them together with theoretical explanations. The thesis highlights many possible policy responses to one phenomenon, corresponding to many theoretical explanations behind it. The comparison has shown similarities and differences between the two policies and correlation between the definition of radicalization and extremism and certain policy objectives and programs. It is structured into four chapters, the first one is theoretical introduction into the concept of radicalization which creates an...

Zobrazení severského státu blahobytu v žánru nordic noir: případ Dánska / The depiction of Nordic model of welfare state in nordic noir: the case of Denmark

Michalková, Dominika January 2019 (has links)
Nordic noir is a distinctive component of the current Nordic cultural export, which has become increasingly popular in recent years not only in Europe. One of the main characteristics of this genre is the description of tensions between the seemingly insignificant and peaceful social climate in the Nordic environment and the murders, racism, inequality and other malfunctioning mechanisms that occur beneath the surface. This creates an ideal spare for criticizing the welfare state. Denmark, as a representative of its Scandinavian model, is also one of the countries where nordic noir has spread very quickly. Therefore, this master thesis will be devoted to analyzing the criticism of the welfare state in the Danish series The Killing in order to demonstrate socio-critical tendencies in the aforementioned genre. It will further examine how they are approached and what specific aspects are subjected to criticism. The work aims to contribute to the current debate by presenting specific examples based on a detailed analysis of the selected case.

Staden med flera tungor : En jämförande studie över Visbys influenser 1200-1600 / The City of many tongues : A comparison between Visby's influences 1200-1600

Hägneryd, Rasmus January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to see how three different places in Europe have made their mark on some of Visby’s profane buildings and how it compares to the archaeological material. The three places of interest will be Germany, Denmark and Sweden and the historical period will be around 1200–1600. This will be made possible through comparing buildings with respective country that had a role in the city’s history. The buildings and the archaeological material will also be compared to see if they tell the same history. The location of cities the buildings and material will also be analysed to see how they are connected. To help with this the theory of this thesis is based on Bourdieus thoughts on habitus and how it can affect the mind of people. The thesis will only focus on profane buildings and not on others like churches or Visby’s town wall. The period will be through the 13th century to the end of the 17th. Germany, Denmark and Sweden are the three mainly countries that this thesis will focus on. Other places like England may be referred to if they have a very strong connection to the material. The results of the thesis showed that Germany had made the biggest mark on the cities profane buildings and archaeological material and they both showed the same history. Via the location of the material it was clear that the place that showed most of the influences was on Strandgatan and Visby’s main square and the space between these two places.
