Od neutrality k alianci: Dánsko na cestě ke spojenectví s USA a ke členství v NATO: Příspěvek ke studiu dánské zahraniční politiky v letech 1945-1949 / From Neutrality to Alliance: Denmark on the Way to the Alliance with the USA and to the Membership in NATO: Contribution to the Study of Danish Foreign Policy in 1945-1949

Hůrská, Jana January 2018 (has links)
The topic of my diploma thesis is the Danish foreign policy between the years 1945 and 1949 and its relation to the Danish national identity. The main research question is, if and how the Danish national identity influenced the state's shift from the traditional neutrality policy to the North Atlantic Agreement. To understand the national narrative I use a discoursive analysis of selected sources, mainly the daily press and political speeches intended for public. I focuse not only on the image Danes had about them selves, but also on their view of the other agents of the international relations - mainly on the Soviet Union, the United States and the North. The Motives of Aid Donors : A comparative study of the aid allocation of Denmark, Norway and Sweden

Forsudd, Carl-Magnus January 2009 (has links)
This essay seeks to discern the motives of the aid allocation of western governments. The aim of the essay is to find differences between three highly similar aid donors: namely Denmark, Norway and Sweden, by doing a comparative case study according to the most similar case method. The research has been conducted by analyzing material from two ministers of each government, the Foreign Ministers and Ministers for International Development, by using a motive-analysis method. Social constructivism and structural realism have been used as a theoretical explanation. These two theories have been helpful in understanding how International Relations work. The results showed that although the three countries were highly similar, they showed some crucial differences in their motivation for aid allocation, especially in the case of Denmark. Theoretically, this could be explained by social constructivism, i.e. that the states have different priorities and experiences.

Staten till resten av landet : Utlokaliseringar av myndigheter i Danmark och Sverige

Fredin, Joel January 2018 (has links)
This study investigates differences in approaches to public sector relocation reforms in Denmark and Sweden, using a comparative public administration research design. These countries are both part of a Nordic administrative model, but important differences in their respective administrative traditions exist. Previous research on public sector relocation shows a varying array of arguments and approaches to such reforms used in different European countries over time. Building on the experiences from such research, the study aims to map how public service relocation reforms are conceived and designed. The objects of comparison are a Swedish relocation reform from 2005 and a Danish relocation reform from 2015. The respective approaches in Denmark and Sweden are found to differ on most of the studied variables. Using neo-institutional theory, explanations for these differences, and the few similarities that are found, are attributed to path dependency, mimetic isomorphism, and the internal logic of the reforms themselves. The differences in administrative traditions are not found to have impacted the reforms.

One committee - two institutions? : The Committee of European Affairs in Sweden and Denmark

Adnerhill, Therese January 2008 (has links)
In order to have some say and to scrutinise the government all member states of the EU today has established an institution within their national parliaments, the Committee of European Affairs. This institution, however, has very different rights and regulations depending on the country it is established in. This study uses two rather similar countries, Sweden and Denmark, and investigates what differences and similarities the two committees show. By constructing a comparative case study of four units of analysis, the governments and committees of European Affairs in Sweden and Denmark, the formal and informal power relationship between government and committee in each country were studied in order to determine similarities and differences and whether the committee had an impact on the governments’ EU policies. Further they were compared, assessing whether the Danish Committee of European Affairs was more powerful than its Swedish counterpart because of its legal basis in an EU document. The theoretical framework was built on empirical institutionalism and Lukes’ first and second dimension of power. The similarities and differences were accounted for and compared. In conclusion, the Danish Committee of European Affairs has more formal power than its Swedish counterpart but regarding informal power the Swedish Committee of European Affairs has a slight advantage. Both committees have an impact on the way their government handle negotiations with the EU. Keywords: formal power, informal power, the Committee of European Affairs, Sweden, Denmark

Renewable electricity generation in the Eurpean Union : Best practice, drawbacks and future challenges

Fleschurz, René Patrick January 2007 (has links)
This paper gives a general review on renewable electricity production in the European Union based on the example of Sweden, Denmark and Germany. It gives the answer to the question which forms of renewable electricity production are competitive in Europe and why. Furthermore it describes how and why renewables are used in different member states of the EU. This review is based on existing literature on the subject, statistical data of national and international organisations and departments as well as recent articles in journals and newspapers. As a result it becomes clear that there are different boundaries to the use of renewable electricity production in the EU due to specific demands for an economic use. But even though these demands are met, the success of renewable electricity production depends on several factors like the historic development and the supply of fossil resources, political support or external events such as the oil crisis. It also becomes clear that the use of renewables can cause environmental problems (hydropower) or problems in the field of security of supply (grid stability). One can draw the conclusion that countries with a continuous support system in the past are performing well in the objective to increase the share of power produced by renewables and serve as good example for countries lagging behind in this goal.

De la richesse pour les dieux ... et pour la reproduction sociale : les dépôts non funéraires de l'âge du Bronze en Europe / Offerings for the deities... and for the social reproduction : Bronze Age hoards in Europe

Blitte, Hélène 22 July 2015 (has links)
This PhD thesis is mainly concerned with the European Bronze Age hoards (2200-800 BC). These hoards of metal objects have a high variability in space and time, as far as their content and frequency are concerned, which leads to several questions. The primary aim of this study is to show that these hoards are offerings for the deities and made to strengthen an unstable social reproduction. My argument is developed following two research axes, the first one focusing on the content of the hoards (statistical analysis) and the second one on their repartition in the landscape (spatial analysis). The use of an information system (a RDBMS related to a GIS) is at the core of this thesis. The main results of the five chosen regions are compared and then repositioned within their regional context, in order to tackle the social meanings of the hoards. A hierarchy of the hoards is highlighted and a diffusion of the practice from east to west is shown. To conclude the study, a window is open on the exchange networks.
