A produção de sentidos no Barracão = discurso, inclusão e subjetivação / The production of meanings in Barracão : discourse, inclusion and subjectivation

Santos, Vinicius Wagner Oliveira, 1984- 03 June 2012 (has links)
Orientador: Cristiane Pereira Dias / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Estudos da Linguagem / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-20T01:49:53Z (GMT). Pretendemos, com este trabalho, sustentar a posição de que o discurso da inclusão é essencialmente contraditório, na medida que ele próprio produz os sentidos da exclusão / Abstract: This study aims to understand the functioning of Digital Inclusion discourse in Project Barracão: Eldorado dos Carajás, an extension project in the segment of Art and Culture, aiming at the social, approved by Ministry of Education' s announcement and implemented by Urban Studies Laboratory of the State University of Campinas. The research starts from the theoretical perspective of Discourse Analysis of the French type, based on theoretical concepts and ideas of Michel Pêcheux and Eni Orlandi. Other authors also collaborate with our theoretical framework, like Félix Guattari and his thoughts on subjectivity and Michel Foucault's thoughts about knowledge, power and politics. From an analysis of project activities, we seek to understand the functioning of Digital Inclusion discourse in the process of subjectivation and individualization of subjects by State. We Develop such theme starting from the following questions: how the discourse of Inclusion products meanings in Barracão? In which way(s) this works in the process of subjectivation and individualization of subjects by State, assuming the constitutive contradictory nature of digital inclusion discourse? We will be dealing with many concepts of discourse analysis, like mistake, contradiction and things-to-know, so that to be focusing on the statements / words produced during the workshops, especially on the computer workshops that took place in November 2011, and in addition, the questionnaires that were used there in the activities. The main objective of this work is to support the view that the inclusion discourse is essentially contradictory, since he, himself, produces the senses of exclusion / Mestrado / Divulgação Científica e Cultural / Mestre em Divulgação Científica e Cultural

By studying this policy, we sought to identify who were the people who discussed this issue, why they did it, it how done, who participated, finally get behind the scenes of these discussions that preceded the conception of this public policy. To find the relevant actors who participated in the design of public policy of digital inclusion in São Paulo’s, state there was realized a literature getting up about the subject and several contacts were made by e-mail and / or social networks, seeking names of those who participated in this discussions that leading the deployment of digital inclusion program at São Paulo’s state. Before the confirmation of the involvement of those actors, there was made an invitation to them participate in the work through an interview. The entry of the issue of digital inclusion was a slow and gradual process that started since the take office of Governor Mário Covas for his first mandate (1995-1998). The use of computerization by the government was in it’s foressen government’ plane in 1994 as a way to modernize the administrative machine and bring near the state citizens. The need to create a digital inclusion program for low-income citizens would have access to the internet should, above all, the e-government initiatives promoted by the State that was by intent to deliver public services to citizens through internet. At the beginning of the 2000’s internet access was a privilege for few. Hence that, the need to think in a policy that promote the digital inclusion of these people. That was the main reason for the government to assume that the issue of digital inclusion was a problem to be solved. And definitively entered at the government's agenda and subsequently giving rise to Acessa São Paulo.

The main purpose of this research is to investigate how the digital literacy is seen in the adult education. In the last few years, all the official documents and the theoretical studies in the pedagogical field have been proposing for this teaching modality a new configuration, which grants to the adult education the responsibility of giving not just the formal school subjects but also all the access to the material and social assets that have been denied since then. The computer and its features is one of the things poor youngs and adults have the right to have access to throw the adult education. In this research, we analyze the practices of reading and writing using the computer as a tool. All the analyses are based in a theoretical research we made which brings first a contextualization of the adult education and its new pedagogical configuration. After, we discuss the studies concerning the multiliteracy and digital literacy relating them and the concept of digital inclusion. In a third moment, we present a revision and a discussion about the researches that show the use of new technologies of information and communication in education, in general, and in adult education in particular. The research shows that the school could be the space where these students have access to the computers. Besides, we realize that in adult education the use of computer is more effective in the technology learning. The results show that youth and adults present some specificities in their interaction with the computer that must be considered during the studies of this technology in this particular group / Mestrado / Linguagem e Tecnologia / Mestre em Linguística Aplicada

Inclusões digitais em uma área rural : uma etnografia de jovens e computadores / Digital inclusions in a rural area : an etnography of young people and computers

What is conventionally called digital inclusion consists, in fact, in a variety of concepts that converge to the pressupost that access to these technologies can bring a real improvement in quality of life of those who use it. It¿s arguable that access to a computer (and internet) allows this improvement; nevertheless the conditioners for that to occur include issues from the quality of the technical equipment utilized till the user¿s skill when interacting with that machine. According to CGI (Comitê Gestor da Internet), dwellers from countryside areas, low income and level of education represent, in general, the most extreme case of digital exclusion. This study utilizes the Actor-Network Teory (ANT) and it¿s ethnography¿s tools to evidence some of these conditioners trough my experience in a rural area located in the countryside of Sao Paulo. To reach this purpose, I ministered ten classes about basic subjects of computers and data processing to high school students in a public rural school. The goal was to comprehend how these populations access digital networks in rural areas, how they utilize these technologies and which are the conditioners that characterize digital inclusion in this area. Besides that the combination of low per capita income and geo-localization of these areas comes to be strongly related to digital exclusion, individuals with who I¿ve had contact showed to be very creative to dribble the absence of internet access.Based on Mol (2002), the findings of this study suggest that many actors - whether governments, companies, NGOs and even technologies ¿ enact, each in its own way, a multitude of digital inclusions. Similarly, each individual enact uniquely its relations with digital artifacts / Mestrado / Politica Cientifica e Tecnologica / Mestre em Política Científica e Tecnológica

Análise de fatores que influenciam o uso de serviços de governo eletrônico no Brasil / Analysis of factors influencing in the usage of electronic government services in Brazil

Marcelo Henrique de Araujo 04 October 2013 (has links)
This scientific research aims to understand how the individuals\' use of e-government services (e-gov) is influenced by different \"location of access to the internet\" and their usage capabilities. For this purpose, the microdata from ICT Households Survey (developed by Center of Studies on Information and Communication Technologies - CETIC.br) for the years of 2007, 2009 and 2011 was used, featuring a longitudinal study. For the processing and analysis of the data, descriptive (median, frequency distribution) and multivariate (Correspondence Analysis, Binary Factor Analysis and Binary Logistic Regression) statistical techniques were applied. The theoretical basis of this research is based on the Capability Approach developed by the economist Amartya Sen. The results of this investigation states that for all social classes the use of e-government services is strongly related to the following usage competencies: e-mail, e-commerce (search for products and services) and financial services (consultations). These capabilities are favored by the Internet access preferably at \"home\" and \"work\", more than on the other location of access to the internet alternatives such as lan houses (paid public access centers) and public telecenters (free public access centers). These results provide evidence that public policies that promote access to the internet preferably at home environment (with other actions that encourage the development of internet usage competencies) are more effective in promoting an increase in the use of e-gov, than efforts to redefine the role of public access centers (telecenters and lan houses), so that they become a point of access to e-government services.

January 2020 (has links)
A prototype of the proposed model was evaluated along with four other mouse models, being one standard, two vertical ergonomic and one horizontal ergonomic by means of performance tests – Fitts’ Law test – (time X number of errors), perception and usability (pleasantness, aesthetics, complexity). The sample consisted of 40 subjects divided into two distinct groups: a) Experienced Elderly Group (EEG, n=17); b) Inexperienced Elderly Group (IEG, n=19) who had some or no experience using a desktop and mouse respectively. Results showed the prototype made a positive difference in the average wrist extension angle well below the second best average angle among the other tested models. The results obtained using Fitts’ Law test showed that the proposed mouse model interferes in selection time, movement time and number of errors, considering the mouse design, format, and dimensions. Problems to execute the prototype mouse project, mainly its weight and button which was difficult to click, affected its use and results, causing its performance to be low during its use in both elderly groups (EEG and IEG). There was an exception regarding movement time in the EEG group, where the prototype obtained an average time below one of the models and very close to the time o... Är det nödvändigt? Måste man kunna allt det här? : En studie om de faktorer som påverkar äldres digitala inkludering / Is it necessary? Do you have to know all this? : A study of the factors that influence the digital inclusion of the elderly

Mann, Filip January 2021 (has links)
Digitalization is a topic that is constantly relevant and it does not seem to be declining. In order to be able to participate in society today, high demands are placed on citizens to be able to use the internet and manage digital devices. But it is far from everyone who has the ability to live up to the demands placed on them, especially the oldest in our society. They end up in what might be called digital exclusion. The purpose of this study is to try to find out what factors people, who are older than 65, believe contribute to the digital inclusion of the elderly. Previous research has concluded that people older than 65 years suffer a higher risk of ending up in digital exclusion. Therefore, it is interesting to try to find out what factors people who are 65 years and older believe can either be the basis for or increase the digital inclusion of the elderly. In order to find out which factors people over the age of 65 believe contribute to the digital inclusion of the elderly, a qualitative research strategy has been applied. Seven interviews were conducted with people aged 65–84 and the people had varying experience of using digital devices. The results show that several respondents feel digitally excluded and that they do not feel part of the development that is taking place in society. The majority of respondents use e.g. not mobile bank ID and that it is an important part of being able to take advantage of most of the e-services offered today. It has also emerged that there is a lack of educational opportunities for older people to develop their digital skills. A consequence of this is that those who do not have experience of using digital devices are more often dependent on a close relative having the opportunity to help them cope with their digital everyday life.

A study of adult learners' satisfaction and engagement in online courses using web 2.0 technologies and the impact on their digital literacy

Daniels, LaMetrius 30 April 2021 (has links)
This study examined the perceptions of satisfaction, engagement, comfort, and confidence level with Web 2.0 technologies as learning strategies in online courses, as well as differences based on gender, age, race, income, and a correlation among these factors and digital skills. The researcher survey design was used for this study, and was sent to all adult learners enrolled in an undergraduate degree-completion or graduate program. The population of 2,100 adult learners was asked to participate in the study, and 134 adult learners completed it. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were conducted in order to address the research questions. The analysis consisted of one sample t tests and analysis of variance (ANOVA) in order to determine the level and differences in perception of Web 2.0 use and correlation. One sample t test indicated that respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they were satisfied, engaged, comfortable, and confident with Web 2.0 technologies. There were no significant differences among participants based on gender, age, income, or race in their overall satisfaction. When looking at individual survey items, results indicated that a female's comfort level in virtual meetings in online courses was significantly lower than males. The findings also showed that the Hispanics and other ethnic race groups' comfort level using social networking sites was significantly higher than that of the Caucasian and African American participants. However, the Caucasian groups' comfort level was significantly higher in social networking sites and instant messaging than that of African American groups. Moreover, both Caucasian and African American participants' confidence levels were significantly higher using Web 2.0 technologies at work than Hispanics'. Additionally, the study checked for correlations among digital literacy, satisfaction, engagement, comfort, and confidence, and positive correlations were found. An increase in confidence and satisfaction was associated with an increase in engagement, and increases in satisfaction were associated with increases in comfort. To summarize, most adult learners can learn and acquire digital literacy skills based on their satisfaction, engagement, comfort, and confidence in using Web 2.0 technologies in online learning. Digital literacy skills are needed for adult learners to participate in a digital and global society.

: Study of governmental e-services for users with functional diversity

Unéus Mattsson, Evelina January 2022 (has links)
In the world's rapidly increasing digitalisation, the need for digital community services is great. The problem is that these e-services are not available to all individuals, which they should be according to the Swedish law of accessible digital public service. Previous research states that user-generated information is the future of government e-services. A social group that needs to be investigated further are the functionally diverse, who face an increased risk of ending up in digital exclusion.  The purpose of this study was to investigate the usefulness of a Swedish authority's e-services from the point of view of users with functional diversity. For a potential improvement to be achieved in the user experience, I believe that the tools for evidence-based studies in this area need to be sharpened and specified in relation to the target group's requirements. Through usability tests, the study subjects have examined the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's website and e-services. Following the test, the study subjects underwent semi-structured interviews to find out their deeper perceptions and experiences about the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's website and e-services, as well as their use of digital community services.  The results show that the students are partially satisfied with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's website and e-services. This is because their services and information are more easily accessible to the study persons digitally and because they generally feel confident in the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. However, the results also show that two out of five study subjects cannot independently use the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's website and e-services, which means that they are digitally excluded from these. The study subjects express that there are conceptual difficulties, lack of reading aloud functions, tiring reading, and difficulties in finding the right information.  It is concluded that The Swedish Social Insurance Agency needs to continue further developing their accessibility in accordance with the requirements of the law of accessible digital public service, as not all study participants perceived their website and e-services as useful, nor did they fulfil all steps in the inclusion work against digital exclusion.

Addressing Digital Barriers : A Case Study: Exploring how adults with mental health disorders perceive digitalization and the digital divide

Ersgården, Emelie, Sinha, John January 2023 (has links)
Digitalization has posed challenges for individuals with mental health disorders, creating a digital divide that hinders their integration into the digital society. This case study delved into the experiences of members at the Fountain House in Lund, a group of people diagnosed with mental health disorders. The study aimed to uncover the digital barriers they faced, thus contributing to the discussion on digital inclusion and the divide. Through extensive research, the study examined the digital divide comprehensively, emphasizing the role of social sustainability in achieving digital inclusion. Barriers such as missing skills, technical, external, and individual were meticulously analyzed. Based on these findings, a prototype was developed to bridge the digital divide and foster digital inclusion. The study's efforts in addressing digital barriers at the intersection of digitalization and mental health disorders offer insights into the digital divide and practical strategies for achieving social sustainability in the digital age.
