Kratz, Ricardo de Andrade 14 March 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2015-03-05T13:56:58Z (GMT). To promote learning object reusability it is necessary to provide the normalization of its contents so that they can work appropriately in any e-learning system. The normalization alows easy reusability, portability of created contents, standardization of processes of creation, and management of learning objects. However, to normalize an existing E-learning environment it is not a trivial task and it requires adequacy either of the learning contents and the e-learning system, once the whole architecture is modified, being necessary though to separate the content from the structure. This research proposes and implements an architecture caled Adequacy Factory which is capable of promoting the interoperability of educational contents and the adequacy of educational resources for Learning Object Reusability, respecting the SCORM norm by using technologies such as Soft-ware Agents, Meta-Data (SCORM), and Web Services which make use of autonomy mechanism, interaction, invocation, access, and reuse of services

The present work deals with the transition process from engineer to teacher in higher education, specifically in civil engineering courses. The problem of this research emerges from the training context of the engineer in the baccalaureate course, or even in postgraduate courses that do not aim at the training of teachers, which motivates us to investigate how the engineers face the challenges of teaching. We intend, with this research, to understand the professional path of the engineers who become teachers and to investigate what are their conceptions of education and the pedagogical knowledge that they construct in this process. For the development of the qualitative approach research, we chose semi-structured interviews with three engineer-teachers who teach in Civil Engineering courses, in different institutions of the Baixada Santista, which has a total of seven institutions that offer this course. The choice of interviews with a licensee, a master and a doctor is based on the assumption that, depending on their academic background, they may have systematized the pedagogical skills and knowledge they consider relevant to teaching, and can contribute more effectively to purposes of this research. Initially, a bibliographic review was done on the articles and papers published in the theses and dissertations database of CAPES, in the Journal of Education in Engineering and journals of the SciELO electronic bookstore, as well as in the annals of the previous editions of the Brazilian Conference on Engineering Education - COBENGE , concluding this phase with a research on the CAPES website, in the curricular areas of the master's degree courses in civil engineering, in order to identify pedagogical disciplines offered in them. In the next step, we organize data that we consider relevant to the history of the engineering courses, based on the studies carried out by Bazzo and Pereira and Valente, and discuss the current curricular guidelines. The analyzes of the manifestations of the teachers-coordinators interviewed were carried out with the theoretical contribution of renowned researchers in the area of Education, among them, Pimenta and Anastasiou, Almeida, Nóvoa, García, Sacristán, Masetto and Gaeta, and Franco. The qualitative research data collection method used semi-structured interviews, based on the studies of Ludke and André and Szymanski and analyzed the content of the interviews based on the studies of Badin and Franco, concluding with the importance of the institutions to improve the continuous formation for an improvement the professional development of the engineer-teacher in the teaching of civil engineering.

Modelo de programação da produção nivelada para produção enxuta em ambiente ETO com alta variedade de produtos e alta variação de tempos de ciclo / Leveled production programming model for lean production in ETO environment with high variety of products and high variation of cycle times

Paola Stefanelli 17 January 2011 (has links)
Lean Production has played an increasingly important role in the transformation of organizations for market competitiveness. The production leveling appears as one of the most important characteristics of Lean Production. The production environment with high variety of products, production typology Engineer to Order, with high variation of cycle time is becoming increasingly significant in today\'s market and has the same needs leveling production environments in which traditionally applied the concepts of Lean Production. This paper proposes a programming model of the production level for the kind of production environment cited and describes an application using the method presented in a glass company for civil construction.

Customization-based interaction in ETO

Käkelä, Nikolas January 2019 (has links)
Customization is an important way for suppliers to offer value to customers and to be competitive. There is a variety of methods suppliers can adopt to offer customization. What they have in common is that some form of interaction between customer and supplier is required as customization is based on involving individual customers in specifying a solution to be produced. This can be achieved, for example, by allowing the customer to choose from components or values that have been defined in advance, later to be assembled or put together according to the customer's wishes. As the possibilities for customization are clearly defined in advance, the supplier can rationalize their procedure to capture customer needs and propose an appropriate solution. This differs from cases where the customer is already involved in the development, design, or engineering stage ± so-called engineer-to-order (ETO) scenarios. Here, the customer is not bound to predefined possibilities for customization, which means that the interaction required to define the solution can extend beyond that required when customization possibilities are predefined and thus limited. In this thesis, customization-based interaction in ETO is investigated, both with the intention of improving the understanding of interaction in this context as such but also to offer ways of explaining how some approaches to customization have implications for interaction that differ from others. The result of the research consists of an account of how interaction is manifested in ETO and how different approaches to customization can be understood to clarify their implications for how solutions are defined.

Safety evaluation of converging chevron pavement markings

Pratyaksa, Prabha 09 April 2013 (has links)
Chevron pavement markings have seen rising interest in the United States as a means to reduce speeds at high-speed locations and improve safety performance. In Atlanta, there are two freeway-to-freeway ramps where chevron markings are being used. A previous study analyzed before-and-after speed data at these ramps and found only a modest reduction on overall vehicle speeds. However, a cursory crash analysis indicated that the ramps had crash reductions of over 60%, suggesting that safety benefits exist even though vehicle speeds are not significantly affected. This research aims to evaluate the safety performance of chevron markings on the two ramps in Atlanta, GA in order to quantify the potential impact of the treatment on safety and to understand the mechanism by which the treatment influences safety. This thesis begins with a literature review covering topics in human factors in safety, past uses of different types of pavement markings, and methods in using crash databases and police reports in accident studies. Next, the thesis presents an in-depth before and after analysis of crash data from crash databases and police reports provided by the Georgia Department of Transportation. And finally, the thesis concludes with a summary of findings and a discussion of further research needs. The results verified that there were 73% and 61% crash reductions in the two study ramps. Chevron markings appear to have benefitted all types of crashes and that they are possibly serving as a warning to drivers of potential upcoming hazards. Unavailability of a number of police reports and errors in crash databases were limitations to this study, and ultimately, new sites should be selected carefully and further studies need to be performed to better understand the treatment's benefits.

Integrering av iläggsskiva i matbord / Integration of a table leaf to a dining room table

dos Santos Cardoso Olsson, Johan, Karlsson, Marie January 2009 (has links)
This report covers the result of a final thesis in Product Design Engineering, in partial fulfillment of the Product Design Engineering program held at the University of Skövde. This report describes a project that was carried out in conjunction with Lundbergs Möbler in Tibro. The objective of the report is to convey the design process of integrating a table leaf into a Lundbergs dining table. The report will also present the product as it goes through the whole design process from idea, materializing in a prototype and concluding to a final concept/product. A pre study displays an overall view of product handling and current market solutions of today's table leaves, where handling issues and ergonomics of table leaf usage is illuminated. The information from the pre study has determined the feasibility of the project and has also been utilized as a foundation for a project specification upon which further product development can commence. With the information from the pre study as a foundation, the idea generation phase could begin. Different creativity methods are used to bring forth several innovatory ideas that can be utilized in improving the product. These ideas were improved on and evaluated to result in three different concepts. These concepts were then presented to Lundbergs Möbler who went through them and decided which concept to go forward with. Conceptual matrices were then used to steer further development of the product. When the concept was developed to satisfaction a CAD-model and a physical prototype has been built from the specifications and measurements from the CAD program. The prototype demonstrated the function of the mechanism that had resulted from the project. The prototype that resulted from integrating a table leaf in a dining table gave a functional mechanism that could be taken into production.

Aircraft Parametric 3D Modelling and Panel Code of Analysis for Conceptual Design

Tarkian, Mehdi, Javier Zaldivar Tessier, Francisco January 2007 (has links)
<p>Throughout the development of this report there will be a brief explanation of what the actual Aircraft Design Process is and in which stages the methodology that the authors are proposing will be implemented as well as the tools that will interact to produce this methodology.</p><p>The proposed tool will be the first part of a methodology that, according to the authors, by integrating separate tools that are currently used in different stages of the aeronautical design, will promote a decrease in the time frame for the initial stages of the design process.</p><p>The first part of the methodology above, that is proposed in this project, starts by creating a computer generated aircraft model and analyzing its basic aerodynamic characteristics “Lift Coefficient” and “Induced Drag Coefficient”, this step will be an alternative to statistical and empirical methods used in the industry, which require vast amount of data.</p><p>This task will be done in several steps, which will transfer the parametric aircraft model to an input file for the aerodynamic analysis program. To transfer the data a “translation” program has been developed that arranges the geometry and prepares the input file for analysis.</p><p>During the course of this report the reader will find references to existing aircrafts, such as the MD-11 or Airbus 310. However, these references are not intended to be an exact computer model of the mentioned airplanes. The authors are using this as reference so the reader can relate what he/she is seeing in this paper to existing aircrafts. By doing such comparison, the author intends to demonstrate that the Parametric Model that has been created possesses the capability to simulate to some extend the shape of existing aircrafts.</p><p>Finally from the results of this project it is concluded that the methodology in question is promising. Linking the two programs is possible and the aerodynamic characteristics of the models tested fall in the appropriate range. None the less the research must continue following the line that has been discussed in this report.</p>
