This paper describes the Swedish reconnaissance squads in the engineer battalions, their equipment, tasks and organization. An analysis is made to compare the present weapons and fire power of the reconnaissance squad with an extended weapon alternative. The analysis focuses on the abilities effect, protection and movement in different situations typical of a reconnaissance squad. The facts that are presented in this paper are mostly founded on the new field manual FältarbR Dyktjänst 2007, which regulates much of the reconnaissance activities. The aim of this paper is the making of a contribution in the developing progress of the new field manual and the reconnaissance squads in Swedish engineer battalions. The result of the analysis shows that the extended weapon alternative would be an asset.

Engineering pH tolerant mutants of a cyanide dihydratase of Bacillus pumilus C1 and identifying constraints on substrate specificity in nitrilases

This study generated two cyanide dihydratase (CynD) mutants of Bacillus pumilus C1 with improved activity at higher pH by random mutagenesis. The purpose of this study was to create enzyme variants better suited to degrade cyanide under the harsh conditions of industrial applications. We employed error-prone PCR to construct a library of CynD mutants. A high throughput screening system was developed to screen the library for improved activity. Two mutants were identified that could degrade cyanide at pH10 whereas the wild-type enzyme was inactive at pH9 or higher. The mutants each had three amino acid substitutions compared to the wild-type enzyme. The mutants were also more stable than the wild-type enzyme at 42oC. E327G was identified as one of the key amino acids that are responsible for the improved activity. The goal of the second project was to convert substrate specificity of the Bacillus sp. OxB-1 nitrilase to that of a cyanidase by mutagenesis or construction of hybrid genes. The OxB-1 nitrilase of Bacillus sp. shows a high level of identity with the cyanide dihydratases from B. pumilus C1 and P. stutzeri AK61 but utilizes different substrate. This provides a valuable resource to study the substrate specificity determinants of cyanide degrading enzymes. One deletion mutant and four hybrid proteins were constructed based on the alignment information. The constructed proteins were all unable to degrade cyanide.

IC design house seems to be the upcoming star in Taiwan semiconductor industry, by its highly brainstorming to create higher additional value, it is also the next leading role in hi-tech industry in Taiwan.To IC design house, the quality of employees is the key of competitiveness, therefore, only dependent on the staff's constant research and innovation, could occupy a space on the competitive market, so the reserch of management of professional human resources in IC design house seems even more important. This study adopts the in-deep interview of qualitative reserch, including six RD engineers, four product engineers and five human resources personnel as the research objects.The main purpose is to understand what the employees truely demand in IC design house? How is the operation of human resource management practice and the expectation to Human Resource Department? How the professional personnel of human resources understand the idea and demand of employees, make a right management system and offer the best welfare measure. Das Menschmodell MANIKIN bietet dem Anwender neue Möglichkeiten in der Analyse des arbeitstechnischen Umfeldes in der bekannten Pro/ENGINEER Umgebung. Dazu kann auf eine anthropometrische Datenbank zurückgegriffen werden. Neben einfachen Analysen, wie Reichweite und Sichtfenster, steht auch ein umfangreiches Angebot an Ergonomie-Analysen zur Untersuchung von Arbeitsprozessen zur Verfügung. Diese basieren auf den bekannten Grundlagen wie RULA, SNOOK und NIOSH91. Weiterhin ist das Modell gut zur Animation von Menschen bzw. Mensch-Maschine-Interaktionen geeignet, wobei hier ein spezielles Wissen über den Aufbau und den Einsatz von Körpersperrbedingungen zuträglich ist.

Als Beispiel dient ein Schubkurbelgetriebe, welches bezüglich seiner Gestellkraftkomponenten analysiert wird. Mit Hilfe eines Lancaster-Ausgleiches kann die Lage des Massenschwerpunktes bezüglich der X- und Y-Komponente optimiert werden.

Do Red Squirrel Middens Promote Vertebrate Species Diversity?

The modifications animals make to their environments can be critical to species diversity. Red squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) create large piles of conifer cone debris (middens) and are hypothesized to function as a keystone species due to positive associations between middens and other vertebrate species. We assessed vegetation and landscape structure at middens with a resident red squirrel for varying consistencies over the prior 5 years and surveyed mammals and birds at the community and population level. After accounting for vegetation and landscape characteristics, red squirrel-created resources positively influenced species richness of medium and large mammals and ground foraging birds, abundance of deer mice (Peromyscus maniculatus) and ground foraging birds, and activity of cliff chipmunks (Tamias dorsalis). Increased knowledge of the interaction strength of the red squirrel with its environment may be used to inform decisions in forest management and restoration and offer insight on the conservation value of larderhoarding mammals.

Išnagrinėti pagrindiniai XX a. žymių architektų ir inžinierių darbo principai, kuriais remdamiesi jie darė įtaką konstrukciniams statinių sprendiniams. Baigiamajame darbe aptarti šių dviejų profesijų santykiai. Pateikiama XX a. architektūros ir inžinerijos raidos istorija. Išanalizuoti kelių architektūros stilių, dariusių įtaką konstrukcijoms, skirtumai, pateikiant jų ryšį su naujomis konstrukcijomis. Išnagrinėjus surinktą medžiagą, pateikiamas baigiamojo magistro darbo apibendrinimas ir išvados. / The influence of famous architects and engineers of the twenty-century for structural building’s decisions is analysed in this final master’s work. Their principals of work are analysed too. This final work talks about relations between architects and engineers, the process of architecture and engineering. Several architectonic styles differences, which made an influence to the structural, are analysed, as well as their relation with new structural. This final work talks not only about the objects of architects, but also about their academic activity in the sphere of architecture and engineering. This final work analyses objects, in which it can be seen the biggest influence of architects and engineers for the new structural decisions integration to the architecture. In this work there is a generalization and a conclusion.

Aparatinės programų apsaugos metodų tyrimas ir paskirstytų skaičiavimų modelio panaudojimas apsaugos rakto realizacijai / Research on hardware-based software protection methods and distributed computing model for security dongle implementation

Programų apsaugą yra svarbus šių dienų klausimas. 2009 metais pasaulyje buvo užfksuotas 43% piratavimo lygis, o Rytų Europoje 64% lygis. Vienas iš būdų apsaugoti programas nuo neteisėto naudojimo yra aparatiniai apsaugos metodai. Atlikus aparatinių apsaugos metodų analizę nustatyta, kad pažeidžiamiausia apsaugos vieta yra komunikavimas tarp programos ir aparatinio įrenginio, todėl apsaugos raktai, kurie vykdo dalį programos, gali apsaugoti nuo daugumą apgrąžos inžinerijos atakų. Įrodymui buvo sukurtas simuliacinis paskirstytų skaičiavimų aparatinės apsaugos Matlab modelis ir atliktas eksperimentis jo patikrinimas parodė, kad siūlomas apsaugos modelis yra atsparus derinimo ir programos klonavimo atakoms. Tyrimo metu, buvo sukurtas eksperimentinis apsaugos rakto prototipas, kuri vykdo dalį programos, o apsauga ištirta su dviem eksperimentinėmis programomis nuo derinimo, dekompiliavimo ir programos klonavimo atakų. Eksperimentinis tyrimas parodė, kad galima rasti programos kreipinius į apsaugos raktą, tačiau jų apėjimas ar pakeitimas, sugadina programą, praneša apie nežinomus adresus. Taip pat buvo atliktas eksperimetinės programos, apsaugotos komerciniu apsaugos raktu, tyrimas, kuris parodė, kad tradiciniai apsaugos metodai neužtikrina apsaugos nuo apgrąžos inžinerijos, kaip tai buvo įrodyta su eksperimentiniu apsaugos rakto prototipu. / Software protection is important problem of nowaday. In 2009 the piracy rate reaches 43% of all globe softwares usage, especialy high piracy rate is in Eastern Europe, where 64% of softwares are illegal. This brings hardware-based protection to be one of the prime defense against illegal software usage. The analysis of hardware-based software protection showed that the weakest part of hardware-based protection is communication with software, so dongle method, which computes part of the software inside dongle, could withstand most of reverse engineer attack methods. To prove this Matlab model of distributed dongle-based protection scheme was created and its experimental evaluation showed, that suggested software protection model is resistant against deassembling, debbuging and software cloning attacks. Equally, experimental distributed computing protection dongle prototype was created and tested with two experimental programs against deassembling, debbuging, decompilation and software cloning attacks. This shows that attackers can find calls to the dongle, but can not jump or nop it, such it was done in experimental software protected with traditional commercial dongle.

Detta examensarbete är en förstudie där väl lyssningsanpassade rum har undersökts både objektivt och subjektivt med syftet att kunna identifiera och tolka allmänna akustiska fenomen som uppstår, och upplevs, samt upplysa läsaren om dessa. Rapporten behandlar ljudfysik så som akustik och våglära, ljudteknikerns roll, psykoakustik, kontrollrum och teknisk utrustning. De mätningar och lyssningstest som utförts har alla utgått ifrån den tänka lyssningspositionen som sedan ställts mot specifika krav och rekommendationer från AMS (Audio Measurement Standards) och EBU (European Brodcasting Union). Lyssningstesten har gjorts efter EBU-standard. Även intervjustudier har genomförts med erfarna ljudtekniker. I Slutsats och Diskussion jämförs objektiva mätdata med lyssningstest, där likheter och slutsatser om lyssningen dras. / This thesis is a preliminary study in which high quality listening environments have been investigated both objectively and subjectively with the purpose to identify and interpret general acoustic phenomenon that occurs, and how they are percieved, as well to enlighten the reader about these. The report deals with sound physics such as acoustics, an audio engineer's role, psychoacoustics, control rooms and technical equipment. The measurements and listening tests performed have all been done from the intended listening position which were then set against specific requirements and recommendations from AMS (Audio Measurement Standards) and EBU (European Broadcasting Union). Listening test have been made according to EBU standards. Also interviews were conducted with experienced audio engineers. In Conclusion and Discussion objectively measured data is compared with the listening tests, where similarities and conclusions about listening are drawn.
