GESTIÓN AMBIENTAL EN LA CAATINGA: Un estudio de caso de la Reserva Particular do Patrimonio Natural Serra das Almas

Holanda, Belisa Maria Veloso 21 May 2012 (has links)
This thesis consists by case study, applies in the environmental context issues that in the present, discusses the degradation of the planet’s living conditions and the evidences by which the economic growth model, has caused the growing exhaustion and destruction of natural resources and non-renewable energies, is responsible for the loss of biodiversity and the contamination of terrestrial ecosystems. At the same time, promotes a social crisis emphasizing discrimination, socioeconomic inequalities and exclusion processes. We are living a socio-environmental crisis to be broach by scientific reflection and by revision of values and models that inspire the management of natural resources. Environmental issues have occupied a significant part of the agenda of politicians, economists, lawyers and the media. Moreover, they are having the support of public opinion. Each day, the environmental movements get strengthen and imposes protection actions and also the changing of behavior regarding to environmental issues, highlighting the current challenges to reach an ecological balance and social equity. Today, the protection of biodiversity is a concern. With this study I try to show in front of all pressures and threats from the predominance of environmentally predatory exploration of natural resources, the creation of protected natural areas is considered a strategy of controlling the territory, especially to set limits for the use and a well specific occupation. But the establishment, its existence and management has had several implications, especially for the living conditions of surrounding communities. This case study examines the creating process of the RPPN Serra das Almas, the work developed at the Reserve, the characteristics and repercussions of these activities in the communities located around the area of environmental protection. Through a qualitative methodology, exploratory, descriptive and interpretive, the field research has directed to identify the perception of the surrounding population about the existence of the Reserve, and the changes resulting from an implementation of an environmental protection area.

The Effect of Corporations’ Irresponsible Actions on Young Consumers’ Purchasing Behavior in the FMCG Apparel Industry

Söderholm, Linda, Olofsson, Jenny January 2014 (has links)
Background and Problem: CSI is a topic with a limited amount of research despite it being a very relevant issue and that its counter pole CSR is one of today’s most popular subjects to study. In both areas there is a gap in the literature regarding the apparel industry where there CSI can be evident in many different aspects, especially in the production process. In the FMCG market, the demand for apparel that has been produced ethically has increased over the years. Still, the importance that the consumers place on ethical attributes in their purchase decisions is rather unknown. Purpose: The study's purpose is to investigate the young consumers’ emotions towards FMCG apparel corporations in order to see if CSI actions give them a negative attitude. It will further be explored to see if the attitude towards the corporations reflects in their intentional purchase behavior and their actual behavior. This will provide insight to the young consumers’ knowledge and interest for CSI, aiding corporations in their quest for excellence when it comes to consumer relationships. Method: This research is done through a deductive, qualitative research. A literature review is done to create a great understanding to the concepts of CSI, consumer attitudes and planned behavior. Four focus groups are conducted as a base for the empirical findings. Further, these two chapters are compared in an analysis to get an understanding about the young consumers’ attitudes towards corporations acting unethically and the affects it may have on their planned behavior. Conclusion: Based on the analysis, the study found clear evidence that the participants have a negative attitude towards corporations’ CSI activities. However, these attitudes did not, as theory suggests, have any effect on the participants’ intended and actual purchasing behavior. Instead it is shown that young consumers base their decisions on contextual factors, where the most significant one is price.

A inserção das questões ambientais no curso de Licenciatura em Química da Universidade Federal de Sergipe / The insertion of environmental issues in the course of degree in Chemistry at the Federal University of Sergipe / La inserción de las cuestiones ambientales en el curso de la licenciatura en Química en la Universidad Federal de Sergipe

Pitanga, Ângelo Francklin 17 August 2015 (has links)
The current economic system began in the mid-twentieth century to present unsustainability signals due to the realization of various externalities that go beyond the destruction and depletion of natural resources. In this scenario, the chemical-industrial activity due to its polluting action and some world level disaster is being questioned and required a new attitude towards the issues surrounding the care and preservation of the environment. In this context, this thesis aimed to investigate how environmental issues - Environmental Problems, Green Chemistry, Sustainable Development and Environmental Education - are being inserted in the course of degree in Chemistry offered by the Federal University of Sergipe on the campus of São Cristóvão. To this end, we sought to identify the concepts, methods and practices adopted by teachers. The Qualitative Research and interpretive served as the theoretical north in order to analyze in depth the research universe. In data collection were used: Documents and interviews analysis of semi-structured screen in the course teachers. In the analysis of the results there have based on the Textual Analysis Discourse. In order to meet the rigors and the internal validity of the research, the triangulation method was used so that the inferences and interpretations of the results guarantee the quality of the research. The diagnosis of curricular analysis was carried out by reference to the criteria proposed by the network Environmentalisation Curricular for Advanced Studies, pointing to an innovative curriculum that seeks to meet the legal requirements, but when broken down into its curriculum components, we see a low structure flexible where environmental issues are poorly covered. Regarding the analysis categories investigated, it is observed by teachers that treatment of environmental problems is limited to the development of their laboratory activities, micro context. An understanding of sustainable development that is widely criticized. And behaviorists views on environmental education. Generally that appear as anthropocentric conceptions, based on a technical-instrumental rationality, where technical solutions are sufficient to enable the current problems. Regarding the Green Chemistry, there are certain ignorance associated with its principles and philosophy, and their ideas framed in the developmental chain or pragmatic macro trend. The data collected both in research as in the references point out that the way they operated, the Green Chemistry is a rationalization instrument that could end up collaborating in maintaining the interests of hegemonic groups. As for the methods and practices have been reported the use of pedagogical interventions that encourage participation and the construction of knowledge by the students, however, is still marked concern about the transmission of disciplinary scientific content.

Luoma, P. (Pentti) 20 September 2002 (has links)
Abstract This study describes the central views of MTK on Finnish environmental policy during the period 1980-2000. The empirical material is collected from the magazine Maataloustuottaja. The data is analyzed using ethnographic content analysis and examining the central arguments and discoursive structures of the texts. The study begins with a description of the development of Finnish agriculture and of MTK. The first chapter also presents and evaluates empirical studies on the environmental views of Finnish farmers. The following chapter discusses some theoretical and methodological issues in environmental sociology. The theoretical foundation of this study is grounded in the idea of ecological modernization and social justice in environmental issues. The essential methodological tension that underpins environmental sociology is between critical realism and social constructivism. The starting point of this research lies between critical realism and moderate constructivism; in other words, naïve realism and strong constructivism or scientism and relativism have been abandoned. This starting point is also closely connected to environmental pragmatism. The empirical part of the study begins with a thematical discussion on changes in the views that MTK has adopted toward environmental policy issues. Although these views have not changed significantly over the years, MTK has shown an increased interest in organic production and in cooperation with consumer and worker organizations to promote "environmentally pure", local food production and the social sustainability of Finnish food production and countryside. The second part of the empirical study reveals some stable discoursive practices in the environmental rhetoric of MTK that has traditionally accentuated the connection between nature and agriculture and the notion of farmers as stewards of nature. At the same time, MTK has emphasized the alienation of urbanites and environmental policy-makers from nature and countryside. MTK has also expressed a concern about private property rights, economic expenses and a variety of practical problems caused by nature conservation and preservation. MTK's attitude towards family farming is contradictory: they are regarded as the models of agriculture, while the scale of production is growing. Perinteisesti MTK on nähnyt viljelijät "todellisina luonnonsuojelijoina".

The proliferation of mosquitoes vectors of (re)emerging pathologies on the Mediterranean coastline and in the French Departments of America : environmental and health issues

Mieulet, Elise 03 December 2015 (has links)
In France, the human-mosquito relationship and the mosquito control policies show differentiated stories and features from one territory to another. Thus,if in FDA mosquitoes never ceased being epidemic factors, however,on the Mediterranean coast until recently they no longer represented a Health risk.Indeed,in the FDA,since their implementation, mosquito control campaigns have always been conducted for a sanitary purpose through vector control campaigns.Meanwhile,in metropolitan France, aiming to reduce the nuisance, these policies were initially implemented to ensure the inhabitants comfort. But,starting from 2004,following the durable installation of the Asian tiger mosquito on the French Mediterranean coastline and the progressive widening of its distribution area, the context evolves and, from now on,the metropolitan France is potentially exposed to health risks hitherto circumscribed to tropical areas.Mobilising the theoretical frameworks of environmental, health and risks sociologies, and based on a corpus gathering qualitative (311 interviews and direct observations) and quantitative data (1415 questionnaires),this PhD analyses the recombining of the relationship between environmental and health challenges in light of the vector mosquitoes proliferation. It initially focuses on the place and status of the insect within the different populations. Then, the socio-economic factors influencing the individual vulnerability of exposure to the insect are studied. The third part is devoted to the expectations and requests of the inhabitants regarding the public management of the mosquitoes’ proliferation. Finally, a diachronic analysis centered on the Alps-Maritimes region is developed.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Claudia Dos Santos Almeida.pdf: 2765145 bytes, checksum: a2641b15839aab704f6874430ee3e10a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-03-29 / The research aims at digital photography in the educational design of the Pedagogy Course at the University Center. From educational design perspective, our goal is to identify the potential of this means of visual communication in order to discuss the environmental routine of Tiete River, in the state of São Paulo, which is highly polluted and contaminated nowadays. The objective is to recognize the problems, needs and expectations regarding the use of the photography applied in the design of the Communication and Language discipline mentioned above at the Pedagogy course. The collected data will provide basis and consolidate the intervention project, with one Public State Elementary School/Secondary Education, Youth and Adult Education - Supplementary, located in the East Zone of São Paulo city. The possibility is that the dynamic digital photography has dialogic potential. However, it is rarely used to discuss daily situations in distance learning. The theoretical framework of the educational field which supports the study derives from Paulo Freire's work (2014, 2014th, 2011, 2011a, 2010) and his followers: Gadotti Moacir (2010) and Paulo Padilha (2002). Similarly, the theoretical framework of the field of communication is provided by Pierre Lévy (2004, 2011, 2011a, 2014) and researchers who gave it continuity: Andrea Filatro (2008); Francisca Severino (2001); João Mattar (2014) and Margarita Gomez (2004). The methodological procedures of a qualitative approach are the documentary analysis, conversation circle and content analysis, based on Eloiza Szymanski (2004). The research results contributed to the use of digital photography as an educational tool in the educational design, thus being able, under certain conditions, to have their use in the Pedagogy course of distance learning. . The research was developed at Basic School research group , Management and Intervention, under the coordination of Professor Dr. Eleodora Francisca Santos Severino, at the Post - Graduate Program in Management and Educational Practices at UNINOVE which was recommended by CNPQ / A pesquisa tem por objeto a fotografia digital no design educacional do curso de Pedagogia de um Centro Universitário. This diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of humorous environmental cartoons in specific periods during last twenty-three years. In the content and semiotic analysis, I am dealing with cartoons in its various forms in the Czech broadsheet newspapers MF Dnes, Právo, Lidové noviny, Hospodářské noviny, Deník, Lidová demokracie, Svobodné slovo and Práce. I surveyed the subtopics dominating in specific periods and the frequency of envirotoons depending on particular titles and current events in the Czech Republic. The thesis deals with these media contents also in connection with global environmental issues and their public discussion. Another important part is the reflection of social problems which the analyzed topics are closely related with. Combination of quantitative and qualitative methods enables to describe and interpret media units of content and lay the foundations for the research of environmental cartoons which has no tradition in the Czech Republic. In the thesis, I point to the fact that newspaper cartoons provide not only the relaxation and entertainment, but it is also an important medium in environmental agenda-setting and its discussion.
