Časopis Květen / Magazine Květen

Mečíř, Vojtěch January 2013 (has links)
Kveten was a monthly magazine for literature and art (and by its third year also for "life"), which was published under the auspices of the Union of Czechoslovak Writers from September 1956 to June 1959. It was founded as a magazine for "aspiring writers", but quite soon this concept proved to be unsustainable and members of the editorial board started to give the magazine its own new look, which got even a more comprehensible form during the II. Czechoslovak Writers Congress, after young poets (and theorists) manifested the "Poetry of Everyday Life". It was, however, defined quite generally and maybe even vaguely, which is the fact the authors were struggling with during the following year. At the same time they are exposed to the pressure of official authorities as "anti-revisionism" began to destroy liberal environment that prevailed around 1956. Kveten tried to resist this tendency. In addition, at that time young theorists found a firmer basis, which gradually became unacceptable for the regime. At the beginning of 1959 there comes a wave of heavy critcism and results in abolishing the magazine. In my thesis I demonstrate through archival research, oral history and semiotic analysis that despite the abolition the management of Kveten maintained the principle of "partiality" and is guilty rather for...

Bydlení u Kosmonautů a v "centru vesmíru": Každodennost panelového sídliště Jižní Město v Praze v proměnách času / Living Close to the Astronauts and 'in the Centre of the Universe': Every-day Life of the 'Panel Housing' Estate Jižní Město in Prague

Cassi Pelikán, Hana January 2014 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is to record the every-day life, local and collective memory, and relationships of individuals - local inhabitants of the 'panel-housing' estate, Jižní Město, in Prague - towards the specific urban and social space in which they live. The thesis is based on interviews, with the long-term inhabitants of Jižní Město, which were structured to record their lived experience in the housing estate during two consecutive periods in recent Czechoslovak history - the so-called normalisation and post-socialism periods. The interviews were used as an empirical counterbalance to architectural/city planning discourse and Czech media, which has interpreted the legacy of 'panel-housing' estates in a negative way, as the socialist form of housing par excellence. The aim of this thesis is to analyse this discourse, which also reflects how Czech society deals with its communist past, and to compare it with the experiences, evaluations and current challenges in the lives of these long- term inhabitants, living in the biggest Czech 'panel-housing' estate with a bad reputation. Key words: panel-housing estates, Jižní Město, housing, local/collective memory, local/urban identity, everyday life, city, so-called normalisation.

Environmentální šetrnost v životním způsobu současných mladých trampů aneb "Co jsem si do lesa přines, to si odnesu." / Environmental frugality in the lifestyle of modern day young Tramps or 'What is taken into the forest also comes out.'

Sobotková, Jana January 2014 (has links)
This thesis is an attempt to detect and interpret the elements of environmental frugality in the lifestyle of young Tramps, mainly in connection with activities related to their everyday lives. Based on a qualitative approach in the form of semi-structured interviews, I am trying to ascertain the point of view of the informants in several areas. These areas are mainly represented by the concept of tramping itself and its related forms of leisure activities, attitudes and preferences in selected areas of lifestyle (housing, food and waste, travel, transport and leisure, everyday objects, clothing), relating to nature, to the environment, nature protection and reflection of the current problems in this field, including the reflection of their own attitude (concept of responsibility, risk, etc.). I interpret the observed data on the basis of selected theoretical concepts, especially using Jan Krajhanzl's eco-psychological model of relationship to nature and its components, with emphasis on environmental awareness as one of its parts. Furthermore, I confront the results of my research with selected concepts related to the topic of an environmentally frugal life (voluntary and intentional modesty, ecological luxury etc.). Key words: Tramping, (alternative) lifestyle, leisure, everyday life, subcultural...

Can Early Algebra lead non-proficient students to a better arithmetical understanding?

Gerhard, Sandra 13 April 2012 (has links)
In mathematics curricula teachers often find the more or less implicit request to link the taught subjects to the previous knowledge of the students, for example using word problems from everyday life. But in today’s multicultural and multisocial society teachers can no longer assume that the children they teach have a more or less equal background and thus everyday live can have a very different meaning for different children. Furthermore there is evidence that good previous knowledge in arithmetic can hinder the approach to other mathematical subjects, like algebra. In this paper I want to provide a brief overview on how previous knowledge in arithmetic can affect student\''s access to algebra and therefore present an early algebra teaching project which introduces elementary school children to algebraic notation by measurement in an action-oriented way. Thereby the chosen approach to algebra explicitly does not come back to the student\''s previous arithmetical knowledge but additionally may support non-proficient students in obtaining more insight in the structure of calculations and hence may help them to have more success in solving calculations and word problems.

Ethnomethodologie und Geschlecht

Geimer, Alexander 25 April 2017 (has links)

Familjeliv med personlig assistans / Family life with personal assistance

Selander, Viveca January 2015 (has links)
The introduction of personal assistance in Sweden in 1994 showed an ambition by policymakers to ameliorate the conditions of persons with extensive disabilities. The legislators expressed a vision of autonomy and integrity, and that persons with considerable disabilities should lead a life like others. This includes having a family and being a parent. The thesis “Family life with personal assistance” has aimed at exploring what it means to have an extensive disability and to have personal assistants in everyday family life. The thesis has had an explorative onset and is based on interviews with eight women and men and their family members: partners, children and members from the family of origin. They were interviewed about their experiences of daily life with personal assistance. The results are structured under three themes. The first theme is about power - loss of power and control – loss of control in different situations in everyday life. The results indicate that the assistance users, in spite of a legislation that allows the user to choose how they want to form their personal assistance, are confronted with different dilemmas striving to maintain power and control over their everyday life and daily help. To cope with these challenges the assistance users had developed different strategies. The second theme is about the results of applying a life course perspective on the different experiences depending on when in life the assistance users became disabled – if they were born with the impairment or if they had an accident or became ill as adults. These different experiences have had an effect on how they look upon personal assistance and it has also had an impact on how they formed their strategies about assistance and the assistant’s relations to their children. The third theme is about the role of the family. Family members play a significant role in making everyday life work. In designing and using personal assistance, the individual’s freedom is balanced against his or her need of autonomy on one hand and the family’s demands for privacy on the other.

Sonda do života 1. československé partyzánské brigády Jana Žižky v letech 1944 - 1945 / The probe of the life in 1. Czechoslovakian Partisan Brigade of Jan Žižka in 1944 - 1945

Moravcová, Nikol January 2021 (has links)
Part of the resistance against the Nazi Germany were partisan troops operating in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. They arose in mountainous and forested areas - particullarly suitable terrain was at Moravia-Slovak border, the Moravia-Silesian Beskids and the region Wallachia. The first partisan units were formed there in the spring of 1942 but the major resitance started only after the partisan unit led by Ján Ušiak and Dajan Bajanovič Murzin crossed the border from Slovakia to Moravia and I. Czechoslovak Partisan Brigade of Jan Žižka was founded. This thesis deals wiht the activities of querilla units operating in Wallachia during World War II. It primarily focuses on the troops whitch were part of I. Czechoslovak Partisan Brigade of Jan Žižka therefore is set mainly in the final period of the war, that is 1944-1945. The aim is to analyze life in the partisan units and the problems that the partisans had to face. In selected cases, the close supporters of the guerillas will also be reflected. Most of the professional literature on the topic of the partisan movement focuses mainly on the description of fighting, diversion and sabotage actions or other significant moments in the activities of partisan groups. Therefore, the thesis will focus mainly on less obvious aspects of this...

A study of the impact of the pandemic on psychosocial and social aspects of mental health in students at Karlstad University

Elia, Dunya January 2023 (has links)
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the well-being of university students has become an important issue to investigate and understand. The pandemic has had a significant impact on students' lives and study experiences. Even after the pandemic, it is important to examine the health and well-being of university students as it is a crucial factor for their academic performance and lifelong health. Further research on the pandemic can help better understand how various aspects of student life, such as social interactions and study environment, affect students' health and well-being. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected psychosocial and social aspects of mental health among students at Karlstad University. The study uses quantitative methods to achieve the purpose. A survey is conducted to collect data. The study's results show similar findings as highlighted by researchers who have previously studied within the research field. The findings of this study, however, revealed that the respondents experienced that distance learning had a generally negative impact on what they learned, as well as the enjoyment they derived from the lessons. This was a result that was also confirmed regarding the university's other activities. The study concludes that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a clear negative impact on the psychosocial and social aspects of the mental health of students at Karlstad University.

“I Wish Everyone Would Understand How Isolating being Chronically Ill Can Be” : A Qualitative Study on Teenagers’ Experiences of Everyday Life with Dysautonomia

Silva Da Cruz Tiderman, Rebecca January 2022 (has links)
“Dysautonomia” or a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, affects approximately 70 million children and adults worldwide. Despite this, a small fraction of studies focus on the experiences of children and teenagers' living with conditions related to dysautonomia. The aim of this study is thus to explore the experiences and perspective of teenagers living with dysautonomia, by focusing on how they describe their lives in relation to being chronically ill and how they view the relationships among themselves, their doctors and their peers. The study entails a social constructionist and an interpretative phenomenological approach, which focuses on the lived experiences of the teenagers. To collect the data, an email questionnaire1 was conducted with 16 teenagers from different parts of the world. The data was analyzed with the help of a thematic analysis. Seven themes were identified under my areas of interest; a regular day, relationships with peers and relationships with doctors. The results indicated that dysautonomia, similar to other chronic illnesses, was reducing life quality. The results also indicated that most days were spent trying to distract themselves from their illnesses. The participants described feelings related to uncertainty, fear, loneliness and grief. Difficulties remaining socially active and maintaining friendships were described by some of the participants. Relationships with peers were described as both supportive and unsupportive and were often described in terms of healthy and sick peer groups. The doctor-patient relationship was described in terms of good and bad qualities. Although all participants described feeling dismissed, belittled and accused of making their symptoms and illnesses up in their heads, some also described the opposite - the good and respectful listener, who valued the autonomy of the participants.
