Les premiers « déplacés spéciaux » de Stalin et leur destinée dans le Nord européen de l’URSS / Stalin’s first « special settlers » and their fate in the Northern territory of the Soviet Union (1930-1948)

Mondon, Hélène 24 November 2011 (has links)
« Dekulakization » represents the single largest operation from all Stalinist mass deportations. In 1930 and 1931, more than one million eight hundred thousands peasants were sent into internal exile, becoming Stalin’s first « special settlers ».In 1930, the Soviet Northern territory was chosen to be the laboratory of this repressive and social experimentation on human beings, which obliged thousands and thousands of peasant families to extract the natural resources of these fozen hinterlands. They had to remain durably in the so-called « special villages » built for their reforging. This research, based on archival materials combined with survivor’s stories, endeavors to retrace the evolution of this experimental deportation and moreover to document the history of everyday life in the emerging order of the Gulag’s « special settlements ». It throws new light on the fate of peasant families in the North, their strategies to survive when facing the most horrific first years of repression, as well as their ways of adaptation and rehabilitation within society since the second half of the 1930s. This dissertation states the changes occurred in the « special settlements » during the war and charts the process of the deportees’ liberation after eighteen years of exile, which pointed out the end of the longest deportation initiated, and finally defused by Stalin.

Exclusion and Resilience: Exploring the Decision-Making Processes of Young People Who Are Homeless

Roebuck, Benjamin S. January 2014 (has links)
Young people who are homeless experience adversity, but many are able to overcome the challenges of street life and transition back into housing. This exploratory, qualitative research draws on the narratives from interviews and focus groups with 35 young people who have experienced homelessness, as well as interviews and focus groups with 30 service providers working in youth shelters and a youth drop-in centre. Exploring themes of victimization, criminal offending, police involvement, and interactions with community services, this research highlights the capacities of young people to navigate around obstacles and negotiate to meet their needs. Integrating symbolic interactionism and social constructivist perspectives, this research explores the importance of micro-level interactions and perceptions, as well as the contexts that frame the decision-making processes of young people passing through homelessness. The implications of these perspectives are discussed within the framework of resilience discourse.

Studies andhistorical researchconcerning thediseases arepathsthrough whichone canbuild newperspectives on society’s analysisindifferenttimes and places.

Vasic, Stefan January 2020 (has links)
Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the pandemic effects on last year's high school students from Sweden and Serbia. In the study, I studied factors such as student’s everyday routines, distance studies, future prospects, social factors, belonging and trust. Based on this, it has done a comparison of Sweden and Serbia. Theory: The theoretical perspectives covered in the study are the concepts of Trust, Danger & Risk from Anthony Giddens (1996) and the concept of Belonging from Vanessa May (2013). Method: A quantitative method was used in the study with surveys as a collection method for the empirical material. The data has been analyzed through Univariate- and Bivariate analysis. The study is not generalizable because a snowball selection was used. Results: The results are comprehensive and have shown that some factors have affected the students from Sweden to a greater extent and other factors the students from Serbia to a greater extent. Conclusion: The study has shown that the students from each country have been affected to varying degrees. Last year's high school students from Sweden and Serbia were negatively affected by the majority of factors examined in the study as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The students from Sweden have been negatively affected to a greater extent with regard to their future plans, and their everyday lives have also been negatively affected to a greater extent. The study also shows that they have less trust for the authorities in Sweden. On the other hand, students from Serbia have been negatively affected to a greater extent by social factors as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Doing Gender

Geimer, Alexander 25 April 2017 (has links)

Hlaváček, Jiří January 2019 (has links)
The Rise and Fall of CSLA?! Military profession (1960-1970) in the collective memory of the officer corps Jiří Hlaváček Abstract: The aim of this dissertation thesis is the reflection of everyday life and the (transformation) of the professional identity of the officers' corps in the 1960s in the collective memory. The research is based on narrative analysis of oral-historical interviews with witnesses who served in the Czechoslovak People's Army during the period under review. Memories of witnesses are compared with other types of historical sources. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the problems of everyday life in the socialist type army. The content analysis focuses on the motivation of witnesses for the choice of the military profession, the specifics of military life, ideology in the army, the relationship between the soldiers and the public, as well as on the combat readiness and role of the Czechoslovak army in the eventual potential cold-war conflict. Česká nová vlna v rockové hudbě a politika přestavby 1986-1989 / Czech new wave rock music and the politics of Perestroika 1986-1989

Andrs, Jiří January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis aims to capture and explain the changes in the milieu of nonconformist rock music in relation to the policy of Perestroika in Czechoslovakia during the years 1986- 89. The primary methodological framework is created by an interpretive trichotomy where each perspective includes various historiographical approaches (sociology of Ivo Možný, postmodern deconstruction of authoritarian discourse, so-called totality from below, etc.). The chapter dealing with the repression of rock music analyses the working methods of secret police (StB) in the 1980s while revealing the background of several typical cases (Pražský výběr, Visací zámek, Michael's Uncle). Next chapter explains the differing approaches of nonconformist rockers towards the cultural relief represented by the official festival "Rockfest". The last analytical chapter deals with perception of contemporary authorities. In conclusion it turns out that the relationship to the authoritarian horizons underwent the most fundamental transformation. The disintegration of those authoritarian horizons led to transformations inside the social field and contributed to the decline of the regime of state socialism.

Kolektivní paměť Dejvic, Bubenče, Lysolaje, Šárky a Suchdola mezi druhou světovou válkou a gentrifikací / Collective memory of Dejvice, Bubeneč, Lysolaje, Šárka and Suchdol betwen Second World War and gentrification

Zmeškal, Tomáš January 2020 (has links)
(in English): Master thesis examines specific aspects of collective memory of parts of Prague 6, especially districts Dejvice, Bubeneč, Lysolaje, Šárka and Suchdol. These former municipalities are at Prague's outskirts and their marginalization supported some specific local narratives: legends and rumours. In this area gentrification went through since the beginning 21th century and is coming to an end. Gentrification to certain extend ends the social life of narratives, which originated in the 1950s. Master theses researched, how the narratives changed, for instance ones about former malting plant or brick factories. Another researched aspect is continual change of spatial appropriations of this part of Prague and its territorialisation within the framework of local culture: in the local memory there are partially deposited memories of local youth gang fights, which divided territories in Dejvice and Bubeneč at the late 1950s and early 1960s. During the field research the legend about "Roklák" was collected in Podbaba. The research also captured the change of usage of former locations of industrial plants and the continual process of their gentrification.

Triebel, Bertram 16 August 2011 (has links)
