This research is a study about the transformations of fairy tales in the society in process of mediatization. Our central objective is to investigate these changes from the movement of fairy tales, referring to their historical course. It means the flow of fairy tales, their updates and stays inscribed in circuits, namely in the flow forward (BRAGA, 2012) through multi-devices that reiterate the valorization and organize new forms of contact, modifying the public itself and its role. To that end, we selected a fairy tale for the formation of our survey, being: the animation "Frozen: a freezing adventure" (Disney, 2013). This piece of work stands out as one of the most popular fairy tales nowadays and is among the ones that generate the most media and non-media products. The research problem guiding our study is: How the meanings about Frozen built from the tension among grammars of production and recognition? Highlithing this problem, we return to the analysis of Frozen animation based on three instances: from book to animation; on animation and its circulation and, finally, the inscription of the fairy tale in a logic of consumption. As theoretical contributions we mobilize in particular the concepts of media society, mediatization and circulation with attention to Latin American authors. The work gives clues not only of changes in the media (from the printed to the digital book), but also in the very meaning of the story, which is increasingly co-managed by the social actors.

Os contos de fadas na televisão: procedimentos de criação de “Once Upon A Time” / Fairy tales on television: the creative processes of “Once Upon A Time

No. of bitstreams: 1 Karina Bousso.pdf: 4880886 bytes, checksum: b425b5ddc0b84c7ba66d578a88b55408 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-06-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo / The purpose of this research is to study the creative processes of narrative productions in the television series Once Upon a Time. In this series, created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, we face a new format to narrate the fables and tales that belong to the fictional tradition. The authors extend the biography of the characters and reconstitute the myth of Happily Ever After. It is believed that by using the methodology of the process of creation presented by Salles (2008, 2011), it will be possible to investigate the characteristics of the creative actions of appropriation of the roots of fairy tales, in order to determine the audiovisual procedures used in the adaptation for television media. The focus of the study is the analysis of versions of Charles Perrault, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, as well as the archives available regarding the production of the show, to examine the course of the authors in the creation and production of this form of entertainment. The theoretical basis of the thesis is based on three center lines: the reflections on the process of creation as a network construction based on a semiotic approach (Salles); thinkers discussing the imaginary of myths, fairy tales, legends and fables (Propp, Zipes); and finally, discussions related to postproduction (Bourriaud). Thus reflections and analyses concerning the process of creation of the co-creators are presented in The Cultural Networks of Fairy Tales: a look at Once Upon A Time; the way in which the image of the characters is built in Audiovisual Resources of Appropriation on the Construction of Characters; and finally, how all these points come together to create the magical environment within the show, in the chapter Audiovisual Resources of Appropriation on the Construction of Magic / A proposta da presente pesquisa é estudar os processos criativos das produções narrativas no seriado televisivo Once Upon a Time.

Poetika místa v pohádkách bratří Grimmů a ve vybraných pohádkách Karla Jaromíra Erbena / The poetics of space in the fairy tales of the Grimm brothers and in the selected fairy tales of Karel Jaromír Erben

Ledinská, Šárka January 2012 (has links)
The poetics of space is a very interesting field, which has been so far marginalized from the theoretic point of view in comparison with other types of the poetics of literary work. Fragmentary information devoted to this theme has often been hidden in theoretic works that applied the poetics of space to some specific literary works. To be able to start focusing myself on the poetics of space in fairy tales, I had to lay the basis for the poetics of space in the first part of my thesis. The basis is built by the chapters in which I was concerned with the poetics of literary work and where I collected, organized and made transparent actual theoretic information about the poetics of space and its parts, space and place. I used these chapters for the specification of the terms used in my thesis. That specification enabled me to focus on the poetics of space in the fairy tales in the second part of thesis. As my research material I chose Grimms' fairy tales and eight Erben's fairy tales. I used this material to verify the relevance of particular hypotheses. In terms of my research I concerned on topics such as the poetics of space from the wider and the closer point of view, the boundaries of the fairy tales' space, the description and the layout of the space, the main and the side character in the...

Mirrors, Wolves and Tornadoes-Oh My! An Intertextual Exploration of Guillermo Del Toro's <b><em>Pan's Labyrinth</em><b>

DeCius, Pamela Painter 13 November 2008 (has links)
I argue that Guillermo Del Toro is a modern day storyteller, writing his film script as Ovid, The Grimms, or even Baum would pen their tales. I expand the idea of intertextuality to include not only conversations, thoughts, architecture, emotions, bodily activity, sounds, and innumerable other signifiers, but also analyzing the film "inter-imagically." By considering the film in this way it encourages a world conversation that can influence socio-political transformations in our world. I use the stories and images in myth, fairy tale and children's literature to support the importance of agency, agency in regard to finding your own voice, determining your own path and taking action by making choices that can ultimately result in transformations that are not only personal, but political ramifications in the world. In Echo and Narcissus, I explore issues surrounding the self-realization and loss of agency through Ofelia's refusal to follow someone else's path, allowing others to silence her voice or her potential. Using Little Red Riding Hood, I assert that Ofelia is the modern Little Red, refusing to take the path of her mother, defining her own way. Using The Wizard of Oz, I highlight the labyrinth of choice and the determination to return, restore or transform Ofelia's world. I further proclaim Del Toro is a master storyteller along the lines of Ovid, Grimm and Baum and that through his film, he inspires adults to get back in touch with the childhood disobedience and questioning in order to spark a world conversation that just may transform the world around us.

Snövit : från undersaga till bildberättelse / Snow White : from Fairytale to Picture Story

Pakiam, Barbro January 1999 (has links)
Snow White through Grimm and Disney - A Comparative Study This essay attempts to discern the differences regarding six Swedish versions of the fairy-tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs over a period of 150 years. Focus is placed on structural transformations through time and media according to the analytical theories of Vladimir Propp. Attention is also given to former research done on the impact of the fairy-tale on the child from a psychological and social point of view. Of interest is the historical background of the tale, commencing with oral tradition, and how this was dealt with by the Grimm brothers. Three of the versions used for this comparative study are variants of the Grimm tale, and three belong to Walt Disney productions, i.e. the film and its picture stories. The aim of the comparison is to clarify how and why this tale is retained to the present.

Worlds Subverted: A Generic Analysis Of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, The Subtle Knife, And Harry Potter And The Philosopher

Tokdemir, Gokce 01 July 2008 (has links) (PDF)
This dissertation aims to study three very important works in English children&rsquo / s fiction: C. S. Lewis&rsquo / s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Philip Pullman&rsquo / s The Subtle Knife, the second book of his trilogy His Dark Materials, and J. K. Rowling&rsquo / s Harry Potter and the Philosopher&rsquo / s Stone. The novels will be analyzed in terms of their approaches toward the conventions of fairy tale, fantasy and romance / to this end, the novels are to be evaluated in relation to their concept of chronotope, and the quest of good versus evil. While the secondary world or multiple worlds presented are going to be analyzed in terms of their perception of time and space along with the presentation of the supernatural elements, the characters will be evaluated in terms of the common classification good versus evil. The main argument of this study concentrates on the gradual estrangement from the crystal clear distinctions of the fairy tale genre to a more shadowy, pessimistic, and ambivalent vision of the fantastic in the children&rsquo / s literature.

Pasaka kaip pradinių klasių mokinių vizualinės raiškos lavinimo priemonė / Fairy tale as a means of visual expression training for primary school pupils

Čepytė, Gitana 16 August 2007 (has links)
Artistic self – expression of children – miscellaneous and quite mysterious process. There the observation, senses, imitations, repeating actions and also ego of the child intertwine. The child’s understanding of the culture determines the attitude towards his artistic training. Growing in artistic atmosphere, children store their individual experience and convey it in different forms of art: talking, making music, dancing, painting. Together they notice and feel visual signs, music and the rhythm of poetry.Fairy tale is the base of growing individual, the best way to prepare for life and work. When children read and tell fairy tales, they save our childhood world , which sometimes is forgotten. Painting a fairy tale, a child without others help, attention or opinion, can more easily fantasize and to sunk in contemplation. That’s why he contemplates more creatively and create ideas more originally and interestingly. However, each pupil, coordinating intuitive and ingenious understanding of fairy tale, have to acquire an amount of theoretic knowledge that is essential for self-expression and to paint a fairy tale. The true-life experience of primary school pupils is not big whereas theoretic knowledge of fairy tale structure, characters, ways to deal with conflicts and others is also not large.

Dvylika brolių juodvarniais lakstančiu / The Twelve Brothers, Twelve Black Ravens

Liepaitė, Lauryna 05 August 2013 (has links)
Three theses where chosen while presenting creative work – fairy tale “Dvylika brolių juodvarniais lakstančių” derivations those where: growing up, death and witch as a death bringer’s image. Even thought the fairy tale is mostly present as a fairy tale cumulated and written by “Brother Grims” and it is considered to be part of Teuton fairy tales assemblage traces of symbols, customs and rites inherent to ancient Lithuanians can be found. While making scenography main foundation can be considered the fairy tale resemblance of ancient Lithuanian culture. Temporary death state or godlike abilities cannot be separated from swings motif (jumping as a rite) which can be found in many Lithuanian rites and it can be associated with turning into a bird. The main theme of this creative work is and the fairy tale is storytelling about death and death itself. The creative work consists of these parts: scenography model and sketches, masks, puppets. The mixed technique is used in other to make puppets, sketches and scenography.
