Impact of non-family executives on family businesses in the Scandinavian region

Ahmed, Malik Daniyal, Haider, Syed Muhammad January 2023 (has links)
The research critically examines the positive and negative effects of hiring and not hiring non-family executives in Scandinavian family businesses. The analysis relies on a qualitative data collection method through semi-structured interviews with four participants. They can provide diverse information on the topic. It has been justified to use 2/1 ratio as one of the participants who had experience of hiring non-family executives, had not been hired it yet. It has been indicated from the current research that non-family business executives may bring healthy changes to the family business they can have greater efficiency, growth, and increased profitability. Nevertheless, challenges occur in recruiting and retaining non-family executives because of the unique family business dynamics. The research claimed that balancing the relationship between family workers and non-family executives can be a significant challenge. It is recommended from the research findings that family businesses in Scandinavia must identify the significance of embracing talent and expertise to drive growth and innovation. They must take the necessary measures to ensure that non-family executives are on the same page. Future research must focus on discovering innovative perspectives to make necessary changes, increase sales, enhance the customer base, and ensure prolonged growth in family businesses.

It s main objective was to identify and understand the affection patterns passed through family generations in it s speeches, narratives and member s memories troughs systemic theory. A qualitative research was made with a case study and a semi-structured interview in which the speeches of the family members (three families) were analyzed through verbal and non-verbal communication during their life span. In the study with the families, it was considered the aspects related to the establishment of the affective values within the family, gender roles and culture. The conflicts that emerge from the fear of being separated from people, relational attachments and how it can be lived with less distress, unpleasantly feelings an it s expressions with an enormous emotional weight. In practice, during day-by-day routines, there is an intention to absorb new knowledge, chance communication attitudes, and review the construction of affectivity, looking for the comprehension of places and conflicted values found in the partnership lived by different generations. This study demonstrated that patterns of affection are formed and transmitted through family generations, and the impossibility to express and talk about it s feelings at the same time and importance is a obstacle in the construction of better family relations. To deal with pleasure and unpleasant situations, closeness to people, different kinds of attachments, the family members bonds can be shaken, showing the attachment s intensity. It was also clear the importance of the communication signs linked to the relational area, even with the families considered very affective and expressive of its feelings. Accordingly, the importance to have an intergerational look in the study of the feelings of affection transmitted inside the same family reveals important values in the family relationships patterns that are priceless to the human being and better family relationships / O presente estudo discute a manifestação da afetividade interconectada com a comunicação na família à luz das relações vinculares entre gerações de filhos, pais e avós, fundamentando-se em afetividade e transmissão na abordagem sistêmica.

Předávání hodnot v rodině / Transmission of values in the family

Bryknarová, Jana January 2011 (has links)
Thesis is concerned with the transmission of values and norms in the family. The goal is to quantify the level of transmission of values between children and parents. The second step is to identify what impact on transmission of value in the family has education of parents and parenting style, which apply to a child during adolescence. Underpinning the findings is the analysis of data file "Cultural and value orientations 2008", which is unique in that it includes real families (parents and their adult children). Attention is focused on the values for different levels of generality (the value frameworks, value orientations, attitudes and norms) and education in the family as a source of values. Analysis shows a high degree of agreement between parents and their children in the sphere of values. As the main variables that affect the transmission of values were identified education of parents and parenting style.

African American Women's Understanding of How Family Values Contribute to Social Aggression

Butts, Elsa Bernice 01 January 2019 (has links)
Researchers have found that social aggression has increased among African American females. Researchers have reported that the family value systems of many African American families endorse aggressive behaviors. Beliefs of fighting verbally and physically for self-worth and equality have been embedded in the socialization process for some African American females. It is important to explore the influence of family values on socially aggressive behaviors among this population. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of African American females in early adulthood and to understand how their socially aggressive behaviors are influenced by their family values. The theoretical framework for this study was social learning theory along with aggression, a subset of social learning theory. The research question was designed to explore how African American females in early adulthood experience and perceive social aggression and family values. Ten African American females were interviewed. Moustakas' method of data analysis was used to identify 4 themes: common family values, learned socially aggressive behaviors, acting out, and handling conflict. Understanding the behaviors and experiences of African American females with socially aggressive behaviors could result in positive social change, first, by increasing knowledge about the origins of socially aggressive behaviors among this population and then by improving guidance and counseling for African American females involved in socially aggressive behaviors.

Relationship Quality Associations Family Values for Online Graduate Students with Intimate Partners

Jones-Garcia, Tracy J. 01 January 2017 (has links)
Previous research found that relationship quality (RQ) for intimate couples may be adversely effected in times of stress, potentially decreasing marital satisfaction up to 36% during a four-year period for high stress couples. Previous research indicated family values (FV) may mediate RQ in stressful times; however, no research has examined this relationship for online/blended program graduate students. Students in these programs experience unique stress, change, and at times, physical distance from an intimate partner. Coombs's theory on values consensus postulated that the more alike family values are in a relationship, the better the RQ will be. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine differences between graduate students in online/blended programs and their partners in RQ and FV. Forty-five participants were surveyed using convenience sampling through a university participant pool. The majority of the online/blended program graduate participants were Caucasian and female. Variables were measured using the Family Assessment Device (FAD), the Perceived Relationship Quality Components Scale (PRQC), and demographic information. Mean scores for FAD were elevated indicating dysfunction in FV. A hierarchical multiple linear regression tested the hypothesis that family values are associated with RQ for study participants. The PRQC and FAD were significantly and negatively associated (R = -.80, α = .05) indicating as FAD increases PRQC decreases. Online/blended program students may need supports to maintain FV to mediate decreases in RQ during graduate study. Identifying FV impacts RQ can assist in the development of more targeted intervention, design, planning, and implementation of online and hybrid student assistance programs.

Sociální práce v kontextu hodnot se zaměřením na matky s dětmi bez domova / Social work in the context of values, with a focus on homeless mothers and children

KRÝCHOVÁ, Vlasta January 2014 (has links)
The study focuses on social work as work with values. In the theoretical part defines the concept of value. Values are later described in social work, families and shelters for mothers with children. As part of the research the values of shelters for mothers and children and the value of users of these facilities are then compared to each other, to what extent are the same or different. The research was conducted in three shelters for mothers with children through interviews. By document analysis the values of shelters on the quality standards of social services were measured. The questions used in the interviews are divided into several areas: family relationships, the relationship of mother and education and work in childhood and adulthood, the relationship of a mother to her children, their education and future occupation, partner relationships and additional questions. These areas should point out what is important to mothers and children. Using this information is possible to compare the values and social workers in shelters that social workers can be incorporated into the concept of the social services.
