Harmonic Patterns in Forex Trading / Harmonické obrazce pri na menovom trhu

Nemček, Sebastian January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis is committed to examination of validity of Harmonic Patterns in Forex trading. Scott Carney described existing and introduced new Harmonic Patterns in 1999 in his book Harmonic Trader. These patterns use the Fibonacci principle to analyze price action and to provide both bullish and bearish trading signals. The goal of this thesis is to find out whether harmonic trading strategy on selected pairs is profitable in FX market, which patterns are the most profitable and what is the success rate for the signals they provide.

Quasicrystal nanowires in SNS-junctions

Sandberg, Anna January 2022 (has links)
Quasicrystals are systems that are ordered but not periodic. They do however still have long-range order and well-defined diffraction peaks. This leads to interesting properties, like critical states which are neither extended nor localized, and to topological invariants and edge states. We study how these peculiar properties impact superconductivity in an SNS-junction, by attaching superconducting leads to a quasicrystal nanowire. We choose to investigate proximitzed superconductivity in Fibonacci quasicrystals, since their normal state has been thoroughly studied and understood. Using the Bogoliubov-de Gennes method and solving the order parameter self-consistently, we calculate the proximity effect as well as the Josephson current. We find that quasicrystals can enhance the proximity effect and significantly enhance the Josephson currents.

Paradoxos geométricos em sala de aula / Geometric paradoxes in classroon

Sentone, Francielle Gonçalves 10 February 2017 (has links)
We present in this work some logical-mathematical paradoxes, as Galileo's paradox, and also some geometric paradoxes, such as Curry's paradox, Hooper's paradox and the Banach-Tarski paradox. We employ the Curry and Hooper paradoxes to motivate the study of concepts of Geometry and Number Theory, such as area, triangle similarity, Pythagorean Theorem, trigonometric ratios in the right triangle, angular coefficient of the line, and Fibonacci sequence, and we organize recreation activities for the classroom in Elementary and High School.

Applying Wave Principle to Taiwan Stock Market

Unknown Date (has links)
Wave Principle is a trend analysis method that was developed by Nalph Elliott in 1938. Today, the principle is one of the most widely adopted methods for technical analysis in finance. Elliott discovered that the ever-changing path of stock market prices reveals a structural design that in turn reflects a basic harmony found in nature. In fact this principle is also similar to industry cycle. When this principle is utilized in a market, especially when a lot of people participate in this market, the principle will be rather accurate, because humanity is also a natural phenomenon. The Taiwan Weighted Stock Index was at 100 in 1966, the base period. Although the discussion in this paper starts from 1966, due to the abundance of the data, I decide to focus my research on the recent twenty years. The purpose of this study is to identify the usability of Eilliott’s Wave Principle by applying it in Taiwan’s stock market and to figure out the trend for the future.

Violet Archer’s “The Twenty-Third Psalm” (1952): An Analytical Study of Text and Music Relations through Fibonacci Numbers, Melodic Contour, Motives, and Piano Accompaniment

Wan, Jessica J 27 September 2012 (has links)
This study explores text and music relations in Canadian composer Violet Archer’s “The Twenty-Third Psalm” by analysing the text of Psalm 23, Fibonacci numbers, melodic contours, motives, and the role of the accompaniment. The text focuses on David’s faith in God and his acceptance of God as his shepherd on earth. The four other approaches allow us to examine the work on three different structural levels: background through Fibonacci numbers, middleground through melodic contour analysis, and foreground through motivic analysis and the role of the accompaniment. The measure numbers that align with Fibonacci numbers overlap with some of the melodic contour phrases, which are demarcated by rests, as well as with the most important moments at the surface level, such as the emphasis on the word “death” through recurring and symbolic motives. The piano accompaniment further supports these moments in the text.

We will analyze the importance of the Pisa s Leonardo de Pisa Book publication, mainly the relative aspect the commercial mathematics, the applicability of the methods of conversion developed by it, the social political moment that had favored its success and the recognition of its excellence at a time marked for a long period of ostracism. The aim of this dissertation is the analysis of the importance of the publication of the book; why of the success of the same and, although some problems even though it s time to be considered of little use the workmanship if supported during the turbulence of the period. For this he will be analyzed the problems of the book as primary source (digitalized edition) and will have theoretical subsidies from the workmanship History of the mathematics of Carl B. Boyer and will be supported in the theoretical workmanships of Dirk Struik, Rubens Gouvêa Lintz, Ubiratan D Ambrosio, Russell, the social moment and philosophical Thomas will be based in the writings of Santo Tomás de Aquino who had great influence in this period of the Europe. This project is excellent for the studies of the Mathematics History because we can verify that Science and History are strict on throughout the times, discoveries are supported or refuted, thus forming some of the fundamental questions in history of Science, of that we must reflect on the past, not to look at it with an anachronistic vision, therefore thus we will be able to understand questions and moments. When analyzing the Pisa s Leonardo book, I intend to show that science is supported at the historical moment and that if Fibonacci got success where others if had not failed, had not shown in such a way, this if must to the general contextual moment of the time. But history is not discontinued as they think, as well as nothing appears for one passes of magician, has a link that they join the ideas and accomplishments for the introduction hindu-arabic numbers in the Europe, has a social moment that determines its acceptance or and mainly it does not have the fertile mind of Fibonacci that knew to lancer the effective situations and assim to get success where others had failed, thus giving a light in the tunnel s end for a period of considered by some until the present as one period of darkness s in the scientific field / A colaboração de Leonardo de Pisa para a matemática comercial do século XIII, a partir da publicação do Líber Abacci e a divulgação dos números hindu - arábicos na Europa, em substituição aos números romanos, passou a facilitar assim as transações comercial entre os povos após a abertura dos portos.
