From the understanding of studies on reading, both in the field of Cognitive Psychology, as in Gibson & Levin (1975), as in the area of Psycholinguistics, as in Goodman (1970) and Del Re (2006), We researched the teachers perceptions about the skills and competencies that should permeate their educational practices, through their knowledge about theories of language acquisition as Cognitivism (Piaget, 1961) and Social Interactionism (Vygotsky, 1979) and the official documents (PCNEM, 1999; PCN+, 2002 ) that are the parameters for teaching a foreign language. We took into consideration other factors that influence the choice of the goals and the objectives to be worked out, such as: intensity of teachers workload, number of classes and students per class for each teacher, materials and technologies available, among other factors that will play an important role in the choice of the appropriate methodologies. To conduct a case study, two questionnaires were used in the construction of direct interviews with fourteen English teachers in twenty schools. According to data on the teachers beliefs we could find that for them the reading ability does not seem to have an special treatment in the teaching of a foreign language due to factors that undermine this process and therefore make teachers do not realize the real objectives of teaching English at public state high schools in Natal. As a consequence, the current process of education complicates the formation of autonomous learners capable of fighting for a social transformation / Esta disserta??o tem como objetivo investigar as cren?as de professores quanto ao papel da habilidade de leitura em Ingl?s em escolas p?blicas estaduais de ensino m?dio de Natal, identificando o valor social do processo de aprendizagem desse idioma para alunos de l?ngua estrangeira. A partir do entendimento de estudos sobre leitura, tanto na ?rea da Psicologia Cognitivista, como em Gibson & Levin (1975), quanto na ?rea da Psicolingu?stica, como em Goodman (1970) e DEL R? Avalia??o da fun??o pulmonar em obesos m?rbidos com sonol?ncia diurna excessiva

It is possible that obese individuals with excessive daytime sleepiness may make changes in lung function on spirometry monitored during the day as a consequence of fragmented sleep or episodes of nocturnal hypoventilation that cause respiratory and changes that can persist throughout the day. The combination of these findings alone sleepiness observed by subjective scales with pulmonary function in obese patients is unknown. Objective: To assess the influence of EDS and snoring on pulmonary function in morbidly obese and distinguish between different anthropometric markers, the snoring and sleepiness which the best predictors of spirometric function and respiratory muscle strength and endurance of these patients. Methods: We evaluated 40 morbidly obese markers on the anthropometric, spirometric respiratory variables, maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressures (MIP and MEP) and maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV) and the measured excessive daytime sleepiness (the Epworth sleepiness scale) and snoring (snoring scale of Stanford). The data were treated when the differences between the groups of obese patients with and without sleepiness, whereas the anthropometric variables, respiratory and snoring. Pearson's correlation was performed, and multiple regression analysis assessed the predictors of pulmonary function. For this we used the software SPSS 15.0 for windows and p <0.05. Results: 39 obese patients were included (28 women), age 36.92+11.97y, body mass index (BMI) 49.3+5.1kg/m?, waist-hip ratio (WHR) 0.96+0.07 and neck circumference (NC) 44.1+4.2 cm. Spirometric values and respiratory pressures were up 80% of predicted values, except for endurance (MVV <80%). Obese with EDS have lower tidal volume. Positive correlation was observed between BMI and EDS, EDS and NC and between snoring and BMI, and negative correlation between EDS and tidal volume (TV), and between snoring and snoring FVC and FEV1. In linear regression the best predictor of pulmonary function was snoring, followed by NC. NC has more obese with higher strength (MEP, p = 0.031) and endurance (MVV p = 0.018) respiratory muscle. Conclusion: Obese with EDS tend to have lower TV. In addition, snoring and NC can better predict pulmonary function in obese when compared with other anthropometric markers or EDS. M?todos: Foram avaliados 40 obesos m?rbidos quanto aos marcadores antropom?tricos, as vari?veis respirat?rias espirom?tricas, press?es inspirat?ria e expirat?ria m?ximas (PIM?x e PEM?x) e ventila??o volunt?ria m?xima (VVM) e mensuradas a sonol?ncia diurna excessiva (Escala de Sonol?ncia de Epworth) e ronco (Escala de Ronco de Stanford). Os dados foram tratados quando as diferen?as entre os grupos de obesos com e sem sonol?ncia, considerando as vari?veis antropom?tricas, respirat?rias e o ronco. A correla??o de Pearson foi realizada e a an?lise de Regress?o M?ltipla avaliou os preditores da fun??o pulmonar. Para tal foi utilizado o software SPSS 15.0 para windows e p<0,05. Resultados: 39 obesos foram inclu?dos (28 mulheres), idade 36,92+11,97a, ?ndice de massa corporal (IMC) 49,3+5,1kg/m?, rela??o cintura-quadril (RCQ) 0,96+0,07 e Circunfer?ncia do Pesco?o (CP) 44,1+4,2cm. Os valores espirom?tricos e de press?es respirat?rias encontravam-se acima de 80% dos valores preditos, exceto a resist?ncia (VVM<80%). Obesos com SDE apresentam menor volume corrente. Foi observada correla??o positiva entre SDE e IMC, SDE e CP e entre ronco e IMC; e correla??o negativa entre SDE e Volume Corrente, ronco e CVF e entre ronco e VEF1. Na regress?o linear o melhor preditor da fun??o pulmonar foi o ronco, seguido da CP. Obesos com maior CP tem maior for?a (PEM; p=0,031) e resist?ncia (VVM; p=0,018) muscular respirat?ria. The reduction of the necessary sleep and the irregularity in the sleep patterns provoke relevant short- and long-term impairments on performances, for example, in cardiorespiratory function. The cardiorespiratory performance represents, in addition to fitness, traces associated to health conditions and in several studies to pattern and/or individual s sleep quality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the pattern of the sleep-wake cycle and the cardiorespiratory function of medical students under different class schedules. The study was accomplished with two classes of medical students of UFRN, one had classes at 7 am (n = 47) and the second had classes at 8 am (n = 41) during the week. On the first stage of the study all volunteers filled out an anamnesis, the International Physical Activity questionnaire, the Pittsburgh index of sleep quality, the Portuguese version of the Horne and ?stberg cronotype questionnaire, the Health and Sleep questionnaire and the Epworth Scale of Somnolence (ESS). On the second stage, 24 students (12 of each class) had their activity rhythm monitored by actimeters set to record activity at a 2-min interval for 14 days concomitant to the completion of the sleep diary. In this same stage, each volunteer performed the effort test (treadmill) only once in the morning period (between 9:00 and 11:00). The students showed an irregular pattern of the sleep-wake cycle and this irregularity is strongly influenced by the class schedules, in addition to the contribution of the academic demand, social activities and endogenous factors. The students who woke up earlier showed greater irregularity in the sleep-wake pattern. The earlier was the class schedule the worse was the sleep quality and the greater was the frequency of students with excessive diurnal somnolence. The classes schedules and the irregular pattern of the sleep-wake cycle did not show effect on the cardiorespiratory performance of the medical students. The performance on the test seems to be affected by other factors, which can be related to the pattern of the sleep-wake cycle or not. Therefore, it is suggested that the late start of classes provokes less irregularity on the pattern of the sleep-wake cycle. However, it was observed that this irregularity and the class schedule seem not to affect the cardiorespiratory performance directly / Os estudantes, normalmente, apresentam um padr?o de sono irregular caracterizado por atrasos de in?cio e final do sono dos dias de semana para os finais de semana, curta dura??o de sono nos dias de semana e longa dura??o de sono nos finais de semana. A redu??o do sono necess?rio na semana e a consequente irregularidade no ciclo sono e vig?lia (CSV) provocam detrimentos relevantes a curto e longo prazo no desempenho dos estudantes, como por exemplo, na fun??o cardiorrespirat?ria. O condicionamento cardiorrespirat?rio representa al?m do condicionamento f?sico, tra?os associados ?s condi??es de sa?de e, em muitos estudos, no padr?o e/ou qualidade do sono de um indiv?duo. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar o padr?o do ciclo sono e vig?lia e a fun??o cardiorrespirat?ria de estudantes de medicina em diferentes esquemas de hor?rios de aulas. O estudo foi realizado com duas turmas de estudantes de medicina da UFRN, uma assistia aula ?s 7h (n=47) e a outra assistia aula ?s 8h (n=41) durante a semana. Na 1? etapa do estudo todos os volunt?rios responderam uma anamnese, o Question?rio Internacional de Atividade F?sica, o ?ndice de Qualidade do Sono de Pittsburgh, a vers?o em portugu?s do question?rio de Cronotipo de Horne e ?stberg, o question?rio a Sa?de e o sono e a escala de sonol?ncia de Epworth. Na segunda etapa, 24 alunos (12 de cada turma) tiveram o ritmo de monitorado por act?metros com 2min de intervalo, por 14 dias, concomitante ao preenchimento do di?rio do sono. Nesse mesmo per?odo, cada volunt?rio fez o teste de esfor?o (esteira ergom?trica) uma ?nica vez, sempre no per?odo da manh? (entre 9h e 11h). Os estudantes apresentam um padr?o irregular do CSV e essa irregularidade e fortemente vinculada aos hor?rios de aula, al?m da contribui??o da demanda acad?mica, atividades sociais e fatores end?genos. Os alunos que acordam mais cedo apresentam maior irregularidade no padr?o de CSV. Quanto mais cedo o hor?rio de aulas pior a qualidade do sono e maior a frequ?ncia de estudantes com sonol?ncia diurna excessiva. Os hor?rios de aula e o padr?o irregular do CVS n?o mostraram efeito sob o desempenho cardiorrespirat?rio dos estudantes de medicina. O desempenho no teste parece ser afetado por outros fatores, que podem ser relacionados ao padr?o do CSV ou n?o. Assim, sugere-se que o in?cio tardio das aulas provoca menor irregularidade no padr?o do CSV, por?m, observou-se que essa irregularidade e o hor?rio de aula parece n?o afetar a desempenho cardiorrespirat?rio diretamente

In this sense, a qualitative research was carried out in two phases: the first one of a theoretical type through a bibliographic research, and the second one on a more practical basis, characterized by the perspective of action research. As a result, a historical overview of the concept of Function was outlined based on Youschkevitch?s perspective (1976), whose content was a reference to the development of the Educational Product which is an Activity Book designed for students of Basic Education in which the concept of Function developed throughout history with the support of the use of Geogebra software is addressed under the light of MI.

Concluiu-se que a avalia??o especial de desempenho do MPRN atende ?s formalidades legais e, de outra parte, no vi?s da efetividade, precisa implementar pr?ticas que diminuam a possibilidade de julgamentos subjetivos pelo avaliador e que promovam a comunica??o entre a Administra??o Superior os estagi?rios e avaliadores, conciliando o desenvolvimento administrativo com o individual, para que assim se possa maximizar os resultados da Organiza??o para uma administra??o eficiente sem se descuidar da dimens?o pessoal do servidor p?blico. / The performance evaluation of public servants during the probation period, demanded since the Constitutional Amendment 19/1998, aims to analyze, during the period of three years, if the professional approved in public contest has the skills and competence needed to develop the public position in which had nomination, as well as allow the Public Administration to observe and recommend professional training and position adaptation policies. With this configuration, the special performance evaluation, as it is named, in its nature is an instrument of public function profissionalization which can reflect in a maximization of administrative efficiency. The objective of this study was to investigate whether the special performance evaluation submitted to the Member of the Government Agency for Law Enforcement in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (MPRN) is in consonance with the existing legal system and has effectiveness in its operation. Therefore, we conducted a case study in MPRN in which predominated three data collection techniques: a) documentary, done with the institution official documents, mainly the Resolution No. 243/2013-PGJ, which regulates the evaluation regulation; b) application of online questionnaires, developed through the survey monkey platform, submitted to the permanent civil servants that joined in 2011 and completed probation period in 2014 and who remained in the institution; c) and semi-structured interviews with representatives of the People Management Direction (DGEP) and the Probationary Period Commission. In the data analysis it was used the bibliographic and exegetical method to discuss aspects related to legality, which analyzed the objective correspondence of institutional resolution with the rules set out in the Constitution and state legislation (general rules). To the debate concerning the effectiveness, we used descriptive statistics in the presentation of quantitative data and content analysis in the interpretation of qualitative data. It was concluded that the special evaluation performance at MPRN attends the legal requirements, and on the other hand, on the effectiveness aspect, needs to implement practices that reduce the possibility of subjective judgments by the evaluator and promote communication between Senior Management, the interns and evaluator, conciliating the administrative development with the individual.

Entretanto, devido ?s caracter?sticas aleat?rias do sinal modelado com interfer?ncia intersimb?lica e ru?do aditivo branco gaussiano, a fun??o linear utilizada passa a representar uma programa??o linear estoc?stica. Os resultados obtidos s?o exibidos e comentados segundo as m?tricas de an?lise adequadas.As conclus?es do trabalho apontam o ELC-GA como uma alternativa promissora para equaliza??o cega devido ao seu desempenho de equaliza??o, que atinge a converg?ncia global num intervalo de s?mbolos consideravelmente menor que a t?cnica usada como refer?ncia. / This paper proposes a convex optimization scheme based on linear programming and genetic algorithms for the blind equalizers applied to digital communications systems. It arose from the growing need for improvements in communication systems in order to transmit as much information as possible in a physical environment reliably. The proposed scheme, ELC-GA (Blind Linear Equalizer Linear based on Genetic Algorithms), is characterized by performing blind adaptive channel equalization in fixed units of data, using a genetic algorithm as adaptive algorithm, whose objective function is a globally convergent constrained linear function. However, due to the random characteristics of the signal modeled with intersymbol interference and additive white Gaussian noise, the used linear function now represents a stochastic linear programming. Accordingly, the use of genetic algorithms is particularly suitable for being able to get optimal solutions covering a considerable portion of the search space, which corresponds to the various stochastic scenarios. This work also describes the implementation details of the proposed scheme and the performed computational simulations. In the performance analysis, the ELC- GA results are compared to the results of one of the traditional blind equalization techniques, CMA, used as reference in this analysis. The results are shown and discussed under the appropriate metric analysis. The conclusions of the study indicate the GA - ELC as a promising alternative to blind equalization due to its equalization performance, which reaches global convergence in a considerably smaller range of symbols than the technique used as reference.

In this dissertation presents a system identification technique using Artificial Neural Networks Radial Basis Function type - RBF applied to a very common system in the chemical and petrochemical industry, multi tanks system (coupled tanks), which features a dynamic nature not linear. In such a system, the nonlinear behavior of this can make it difficult to identify and present a model that does not reflect their actual behavior. This factor is a source of motivation we use a mathematical tool such as RBF in the identification of nonlinear aspects of the system. This network has potential as ability to handle complex systems, learning and generalization. Identification systems using RBF can be treated as a curve fitting problem by combining the basic functions.

Where the topology of this Baire space is the induced topology of a Scott topology for the partial functions (not necessarily computable). In this thesis a novel topology on the index set of the set of total computable functions is built and proved that it is not homeomorphic to the aforementioned subspace of the presented Baire space. There is an important undecidable subset of the set of total computable functions called the set of regular computable functions that receives particular attention in this thesis. In order to make a topological study of this set a whole theoretical apparatus is constructed. After presenting the state of the art of generalised domain theory, a novel generalisation of algebraic domains coined as algebraic quasidomains is introduced. With a suited partial-order an algebraic quasi-domain is built for the set of total computable functions. Through the Scott topology associated with this algebraic quasi-domain a necessary condition for the regular computable functions is obtained. It is proved that this later topology is not homeomorphic to the previously mentioned subspace of the presented Baire space. As a byproduct a Scott topology for the set of total functions (not necessarily computable) is introduced. It is proved that this later topology is not homeomorphic to the presented Baire space. It is also proved that the Scott topologies in the set of total functions and in the subset of total computable functions have the set of total functions with finite support as a common dense set. Analogously it is proved that the topology in the index set of the set of total computable functions has as a dense set the indexes corresponding to a computable enumeration without repetition of the set of total functions with finite support.

A percep??o de ritmo tem sido implicada a ?reas classicamente de controle motor, notadamente os n?cleos da base. Estes n?cleos t?m sido atrelados tamb?m ao funcionamento executivo, atrav?s de la?os c?rtico-estriatais-tal?mico-corticais. Considerando as fun??es executivas sediadas no c?rtex pr?-frontal como integrantes desse circuito, o objetivo deste estudo ? caracterizar o efeito de est?mulos auditivos r?tmicos sobre par?metros de comportamento motor, desempenho cognitivo executivo e sinais eletrofisiol?gicos. A amostra (n=24) foi calculada a partir do software G*Power 3.1. Os participantes foram submetidos a tarefas de tempo motor espont?neo e tarefas de processamento executivo (soma sequencial de d?gitos), com ou sem a presen?a de pulsos sonoros isocr?nicos de tr?s diferentes intervalos. Os resultados mostram que h? sincroniza??o do per?odo motor aos pulsos com ISI (Intervalo entre est?mulos, do ingl?s, ?Inter Stimulus Interval?) igual a 500 ms, e que ISI com 350 ms ou 650 ms aumentam a variabilidade das batidas. N?o foi encontrada diferen?a entre as manipula??es experimentais no que concerne ? ativa??o auton?mica, exceto por diminui??o da frequ?ncia card?aca durante a realiza??o da tarefa com som N?o-Sincronizado 350 ms. Com rela??o aos dados eletroencefalogr?ficos, diferentes padr?es de pot?ncia espectral est?o vinculados ao intervalo de estimula??o. O ?ndice de modula??o delta-gama est? negativamente correlacionado ? taxa de acertos na condi??o 350 ms, e positivamente correlacionado na condi??o Sincronizada. Isto ? consistente com um modo r?tmico de processamento, que, no entanto, pode implicar em redu??o do desempenho cognitivo mediante de alta exig?ncia por velocidade de processamento. / Sequences of stimuli presented between 125-2000 ms (0.3-8Hz) may impact on perception, motor responses and cognition. Dynamic Attending Theory postulates oscillations of attention, that may synchronize by entrainment to rhythmic events from environment. Rhythm perception has been shown to involve classical motor areas, notably basal ganglia. These sub-cortical nuclei has been also linked to executive functioning, due to existence of cortical-striatum-thalamic-cortical loops. Since executive function is based on prefrontal cortex activity, this work aims to characterize effect of auditory rhythmic stimuli on motor behavior, executive function and electrophysiological responses. Sample (n=24) was previously calculated by G*Power 3.1 software. Participants were submitted to finger tapping and executive tasks (sequential arithmetic sum), while auditory tones were played or not. Our results show motor synchronization for ISI 500 ms, and increased variability for ISI 350 ms and 650 ms. Autonomic electrophysiological responses did not show any changes, except for a decreased heart rate at ISI 350 ms, Non-Synchronized Condition. Delta-Gama Modulation Index is negatively correlated with hitrate for ISI 350 ms, but positively correlated with hitrate at Synchronized Condition. ISI impacts on hitrate, but a larger modulation of both ISI and auditory stimuli over Reaction Time is shown. Our results suggest an ?optimal entrainment range?, centered at 500 ms, and an increased likelihood for involuntary synchronization at this point. Besides, results suggest so-called cold and hot executive functions are independent processes, and also that nervous system may activate different processing ways for different temporal contexts. These findings also corroborate the existence of a rhythmic processing mode, however, with decreased performance through high speed processing request.

Apresentamos tamb?m diferentes m?todos de constru??o utilizando automorfismos e provamos que com tais medidas podemos construir n?o s? medidas de entropia, mas tamb?m dist?ncias, fun??es p?nalti e medidas de similaridade entre conjuntos difusos. / The idea of inclusion for fuzzy sets was firstly introduced by L. Zadeh in 1965 and since then many other studies proposed alternatives to indicate a degree to which a fuzzy set is included into another fuzzy set, called an inclusion degree or a subsethood measure. In this work we present a new class of fuzzy subsethood measures between fuzzy sets. We introduce a new definition of a fuzzy subsethood measure as an intersection of other axiomatizations by aggregating fuzzy implication operators. We also provide some construction methods to obtain these fuzzy subsethood measures. With our approach we recover some of the classical measures which have been discussed in the literature, as the one given by Goguen. We also show how we can use our developments to generate fuzzy entropies, fuzzy distances, penalty functions and similarity measures. Finally we study some fuzzy indexes generated from this new class of fuzzy subsethood measures.
