Form is the manifestation of a process. Since our senses are our only means of perception, then a process to be manifest must necessarily assume a state that our senses can perceive. This state or expression which we can perceive is its form. “Every process has its necessary form which always results in functional forms. They follow the law of the shortest distance between points; cooling occurs only on surfaces exposed to cooling; pressure only on points of pressure; tension on lines of tension; motion creates for itself forms of movement for each energy there is a form of energy.” The functional form of anything is the way in which it acts or functions. Everything has many functional forms and these are perpetually changing. They are constantly being influenced to manifest themselves in different ways by processes which are in perpetual change; and these in turn are influenced by other processes in perpetual change. Busca-se, na presente tese, à luz do sistema constitucional brasileiro, examinar a tributação na prestação de serviços de infraestrutura. Utiliza-se, para tanto, de uma abordagem estrutural-funcionalista, investigando-se o fenômeno jurídico não apenas sob o seu aspecto formal, mas, de igual modo, sob o aspecto promocional de condutas. A prestação de serviços de infraestrutura é, nessa senda, um serviço de interesse público orientado ao desenvolvimento, alinhando-se, em um Estado Social e Democrático de Direito, com os objetivos fundamentais da República. Reconhecendo-se que a dicotomia público-privado não é critério hábil a delimitar as normas jurídicas, constata-se que a prestação de tais serviços por meio de concessões, parcerias público-privadas e permissões também pode ser alvo da função promocional, que tem nos mecanismos tributários, observados os princípios constitucionais a eles subjacentes, um dos meios para sua implementação. Examina-se, assim, o desenho constitucional de competências, para concluir-se que a imunidade recíproca é aplicável, ao lado dos entes políticos, autárquicos e fundacionais, apenas às empresas públicas e sociedades de economia mista, e não aos entes privados prestadores do serviço de interesse público. Com o exame do aspecto material da hipótese de incidência possível de tributos sobre a receita, renda, lucros e serviços, analisa-se a subsunção dos fatos relacionados à prestação dos serviços de infraestrutura às respectivas normas de incidência tributária. A possibilidade de concessão de medidas de desoneração fiscal na prestação dos serviços relacionados aos setores de infraestrutura também é verificada, sendo necessária, para tanto, a correlação do incentivo fiscal com a finalidade de promoção do desenvolvimento nacional e regional. À vista da análise estrutural-funcionalista empreendida, conclui-se que os mecanismos tributários relacionados à prestação descentralizada dos serviços de infraestrutura podem ser utilizados como instrumentos aptos à promoção do desenvolvimento. / The object of this thesis is to examine taxation on the decentralized provision of infrastructure services in light of Brazilian constitutional system. A structuralist and functionalist approach is, therefore, applied to investigate this legal phenomenon not only from a formal aspect, but also from a promotion of conduct standpoint. The provision of infrastructure services is, from such perspective, a service of public interest oriented towards development and aligned with the fundamental objectives of the Republic. Recognizing that the public-private dichotomy is not qualified to delimit the norms of the legal system, it is seen that the provision of such services by means of concession, publicprivate partnerships and permits can also fall under such promotion function, having in the taxation mechanisms, subject to constitutional principles, one of the means for its implementation. An examination is, therefore, made of the separation of competencies under the Constitution, and the conclusion is that reciprocal immunity is applicable, alongside political bodies, independent state organizations and foundations, only to stateowned entities and state-controlled enterprises, and not to private concerns providing services in the public interest. Through the examination of the triggering event of taxes on income, profit and services, an analysis is made of how facts relating to the provision of infrastructure services are framed within the respective tax levying norms. The possibility of conceding tax relief measures also applies to services in infrastructure sectors, provided that the concession of tax incentives is aimed at promoting national and regional development. Based on a structuralist and functionalist analysis, the conclusion reached is that taxation mechanisms relating to the decentralized provision of infrastructure services are instruments capable of promoting development.

Em 1975, no artigo The Meaning of Meaning, Putnam defende a doutrina que ficou conhecida por externalismo semântico. A ideia é a de que os significados das palavras não podem ser estabelecidos por um sujeito em isolamento (ou por uma mente pensada em isolamento). Neste trabalho, investigamos a doutrina de Putnam a partir de várias perspectivas, visando dar ao leitor elementos para compreendê-la em detalhes. Essas perspectivas envolvem a definição precisa do externalismo, o exame dos argumentos com os quais Putnam o defende e, também, a investigação de algumas consequências da doutrina para as filosofias da linguagem, da ciência e da mente. / In 1975, Hilary Putnam published the article The Meaning of Meaning in which he proposed the doctrine that became known as semantic externalism. His idea was that the meaning of words cannot be established by an individual in isolation (or by mind taken in isolation). In this work, we investigate Putnams thesis from several different perspectives, aiming at giving the reader elements to understand it in detail. These perspectives include the precise definition of semantic externalism, the arguments Putnam uses to support it, and the investigation of some consequences of the doctrine for the philosophy of language, the philosophy of science, and the philosophy of mind.

Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a mudança gramatical que tem afetado a palavra afinal. Para isso, iniciamos nossas buscas em dicionários sincrônicos e etimológicos, que favoreceram reconhecer a ampliação do espectro funcional desse item; em seguida, coletamos dados da língua falada e, em face do pouco número de ocorrências, partimos para dados da língua escrita. Norteados pela fundamentação teórica que deriva de Heine, Claudi & Hünnemeyer (1991), reconhecemos um percurso unidirecional seguido pelo item afinal, bem como pudemos reconhecer alguns padrões funcionais associados aos usos desse item. Também, verificamos que as rotas percorridas pelo encadeamento dos padrões funcionais podem assumir um movimento tanto da esquerda para a direita - resultando em gramaticalização; quanto da direita para a esquerda resultando em lexicalização. / This research presents a study on the grammatical change that has been affecting the word \"afinal\". For this we initiate our searches in synchronous and etymologic dictionaries; that has promoted to recognize the enlargement of the functional spectrum of this item. After that, we collected data from the spoken language and, in face of the scarce number of occurrences; we decided to deal with the written language. Guided by the theoretical basis that derives from Heine, Claudi & Hünnemeyer (1991), we recognize a unidirectional way, followed by the item \"AFINAL\", as well as we could recognize some functional standards associated to the use of this item. We also, verify that the routes covered by the functional standards chaining may assume a movement from the left to the right - resulting in grammaticalization, and also from the right for the left, resulting in lexicalization.

Investigamos o tratamento dado às orações principais em livros didáticos, partindo-se da premissa de que há uma deficiência na abordagem destas orações, uma vez que são focalizadas apenas as orações subordinadas (quanto à função sintática que exercem em relação à oração principal). A motivação para essa pesquisa é a problemática que envolve o ensino de gramática nas salas de aula. Para desenvolver nossa análise, organizamos um córpus formado por livros didáticos mais "antigos" (anteriores aos PCN) e outros mais atuais (posteriores aos PCN), buscando demonstrar que houve uma melhora na elaboração de atividades destinadas ao estudo das orações subordinadas substantivas, embora ainda encontremos modelos presos à análise tradicional. A partir de uma abordagem funcionalista da língua, com base em estudos de Castilho (2012) e Neves (2001), discutimos o estatuto semântico-pragmático dessas orações, propondo uma abordagem mais significativa da sintaxe em sala de aula / Abstract: In this work, we present a didactic-pedagogic proposal for the treatment of main clauses in subordinate sentences (completive constructions). We investigated the treatment given to main clauses in textbooks, starting from the premise that there is a deficiency in addressing these sentences, since textbooks are focused only on subordinate clauses (concerning the syntactic function they fulfill in relation to the main clause).This research was motivated by problems related to grammar teaching in the classroom. To develop our analysis, we organized a corpus made up of older textbooks (previous to PCNs) and other more current (after to PCNs), in order to to demonstrate that there was an improvement in the development of activities designed to study the substantive subordinate clauses, although we still find models stuck to traditional analysis. Esta pesquisa realiza um estudo sobre a função da roupa mortuária em nossa cultura. O objetivo desta investigação é identificar a função que a roupa dos mortos exerce em nossa cultura. A importância deste estudo está em aumentar a compreensão sobre nossas atitudes e nosso comportamento em relação à roupa. A teoria funcionalista desenvolvida por Malinowski foi adotada como referencial teórico-metodológico e a entrevista livre não organizada foi empregada como instrumento de pesquisa. As entrevistas foram realizadas com costureiras que nasceram entre as décadas de 20 e 40 e que residem atualmente na cidade de Ituverava - interior de São Paulo. A escolha por este grupo social se deu,- em primeiro lugar, devido à percepção diferenciada que esta categoria possui em relação à roupa: a atuação profissional destas mulheres permitiu-lhes adquirir um conhecimento especializado sobre tecidos, estampas, técnicas de corte, técnicas de costura, técnicas de acabamento, nomenclatura de peças e processos de modelagem, conhecimento considerado indispensável para o aprofundamento das entrevistas. A data de nascimento e a localidade estipulados visaram à identificação de mulheres que se tornaram economicamente ativas durante uma época e em uma região em que a grande maioria das roupas eram produzidas por costureiras locais devido à ausência de indústrias de confecção na região. Os dados coletados durante a entrevista foram registrados com a ajuda de um gravador e analisados segundo a perspectiva funcionalista / This research conducts a study on the function of burial clothes in our culture. The purpose of this research is to identify the role that clothing plays dead in our culture. The importance of this study is to increase understanding of our attitudes and our behavior in relation to clothing. The functionalist theory developed by Malinowski was adopted as theoretical framework and the non-organized free interview was employed as a research tool. Interviews were conducted with seamstresses who were born between the 20s and 40s and who now reside in the city of Ituverava - São Paulo. The choice of this social group was given - in the first place - because of different perception that this category has in relation to clothing: the professional performance of these women allowed them to acquire a specialized knowledge of fabrics, prints, cutting techniques, sewing techniques , finishing techniques, naming parts and modeling processes; knowledge considered essential for the further development of interviews. The date of birth and place stipulated aimed at the identification of women who became economically active during a time and in a region where the vast majority of the clothes were produced by local seamstresses in the absence of manufacturing industries in the region. The data collected during the interview were recorded with the help of a tape recorder and analyzed according to the functionalist perspective
