PatrÃcia Elainny Lima Barros 14 March 2011 (has links)

Pettersson, Joanna January 2015 (has links)
Thousands of years ago in Ancient Mesopotamia there was an abundant Pantheon of gods and goddesses. Circa 3000–2300 B.C.E, separate cults started to form relating to two of these goddesses: Ninisina and Gula. They were quite similar, both associated with healing, as were several other goddesses in the area. Over time they all fused, and their names disappeared one by one, until one remained; Gula. Scholars of today often tend to see them all as one type of goddess, their names interchangeable. This essay researches Ninisina and Gula, and the intention is to see if they truly are the “same”. A number of hymns and healing spells are analysed and used to compare the goddesses. This comparison is based on three themes; “Healing”, “Praise” and “Prayer & Intention”, and finds that indeed the manner of their healing and their characters differ. The essay also discusses how central their roles as healers are. It is shown that even though healing is always mentioned in every chosen text, other traits are often emphasised more.

Hägerström, Emelie January 2019 (has links)
When the French government decided to raise the fuel taxes hundreds of thousands of Frenchmen gathered to protest around the country, and the movement of the Yellow Vests was created. As the internal communication mainly took place over the internet, it allowed a leaderless structure where a large number of participants quickly mobilized. Researchers in the field of social movements argue that the formation of collective actions are fundamental for the survival of a movement. In this thesis, quotes from the Yellow Vests are studied as a form of opposition with the aim of investigating changes over time. By creating a tool of analyzing opposition from social movements, a quantitative content analysis is used to study 216 quotes of Yellow Vests in two French newspapers. The results imply that the news reporting of the Yellow describes the movement as having a relatively united external agenda with the desire to gain more direct influence over politics with the purpose of reducing the gap between the peopleand the elite. However, this agenda is given less attention as time passes. Instead, the focus shifts to dealing with questions about the use of violence and the role of leadership internally. This may indicate a weakening of the movement, yet there is still a maintenance of a strong willpower to continue mobilizing.

Energieffektivisering av belysning för växthusodling

Petrov, Peter January 2021 (has links)
This case study investigates how the biomass changes depending on changes made to the time interval for the lights and the distance between the crops and light. The study is split in three different cases and each case consists of three batches. The different baches have three different heights between the light and the crops and the heights being used is 55, 110 and 165cm. The light interval in the first case was 12 hours, 6 hours for case 2 and 3 hours for the last case.  Case 1 had an average biomass weight of 28,5 g, for batches 1-3 and the light interval was twelve hours. In case 1 and 2 the pea plants looked healthy and green but in case 2 the plants were taller, and the leaves had widened more. Case 2 had an average biomass weight of     55,5 g, for batches 4-6 when the interval of the lights was 6 hours. The last case generated the most biomass of all the cases with an average of 102,5 g for batches 7-9, and the plants was completely yellow. Case 2 compared to case 1 gave double biomass yield for the same amount of energy used. One-way Anova determined that it was not any statistically significant difference between the batches but, however, it was for the different cases.

Costa, Ana Beatriz Bueno Ferraz 29 October 2009 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Ana Beatriz Bueno Ferraz Costa.pdf: 8371784 bytes, checksum: b5ce3b3f6547da0f9c27b06e51f26bf6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2009-10-29 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The dissertation "Gula [Gluttony] Magazine: the formation of taste on discursive construction" intends to research how food discourses are constituted and how they are elaborated to form the tastes of contemporary individuals. The theoretical references are the studies of discursive semiotics, specially the contributions of the sociosemiotics about taste and the studies of habits and lifestyles. Therefore this study reflects how the media communication about food structures sociocultural values on its discourse. The object of analysis has been elected within the universe of the Gula's magazine covers, since it's beginning until 2008 December. The selection configures a time-line: the first cover (Special Premiere), the cover at the edition which celebrates its first anniversary (Gula No. 12), the cover at No. 150 (which is called the gluttony), closing with a commemorative edition of 15 years. Thus, through such editions, we intend to explore how the magazine structures their discourse trough time, focusing at values found therein. From the 1980's it is observed an expansion of the presence of the theme gastronomy at various media. Our central hypothesis infers that this expansion occurs from the exacerbation of the dismissal of the functional character of food, configuring aesthetics and consumption functions of food in terms of creating pleasure and as life experiences. The research can be divided into three stages. At first, this study reflects about the universe of media in which the magazine and their contextual, social, historical and semantically relationships are. The second stage is the analysis of selected covers of Gula, focusing on understanding the discursive procedures at communication and how it is built in the universe of its peers in contemporary Brazil. The third, focus on the analysis relationship with history, society and media, as well as the construction of taste and lifestyles at Gula's discourse and its peers in contemporary Brazil.

Examining Sinophobia and Racialization at the Nexus of News Satire and Public Engagement : The Case of Swedish Television SVT’s Svenska Nyheter News Satire of China in 2018

Huang, Nini January 2022 (has links)
This thesis aims to understand Sinophobia in the context of post-racial, anti-racist and color-blind Sweden, specifically concerning news representations of China and racial caricatures of Chinese and other East-Asians through “Gook humor”. Sinophobia is examined through race humor and public engagement with satirical race representations using the controversial case of news satire of China produced by Swedish public television SVT in 2018. A reflexive thematic analysis is conducted to analyze the news satire as transcripts from a YouTube video, and public engagement as relevant YouTube comments in Swedish. The findings of the analysis are situated within a critical race theoretical framework based on the concept of liquid racism, color-blindness, Yellow Peril narratives and critical humor theories. The result shows that the news satire contains liquid race representations of Chinese as ironic yet exaggerated racial caricatures, while portraying China as a powerful yet threatening authoritarian state, alluding to Yellow Peril narratives. Mediated through humor, these representations implicitly promote liquid racism in public engagement, in which racist interpretations could exist in the context of white liberal anti-racism. This paper coins the term liquid Sinophobia to describe how covert racism has adapted to exist in post-racial and color- blind Sweden by primarily negating accusations of racism by Swedish-Chinese minorities. Explicit Sinophobia was also found in the public engagement rooted in cultural racism, nationalism and counter-PC culture. This thesis has major implication for Sinophobia research in Asian critical race studies in Sweden, being the first of its kind to focus on this topic at the nexus of news satire and public engagement. Further research is required to study liquid Sinophobia and anti-Asian racism based on the general and intersectional experiences of Swedish-Asian communities.
