Kadosh e o sagrado de Hilda Hilst / Kadosh and the Sacrality of Hilda Hilst

Carneiro, Alan Silvio Ribeiro, 1981- 14 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Suzi Frankl Sperber / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Estudos da Linguagem / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-14T12:11:02Z (GMT). / Abstract: Hilda Hilst (1930-2004) published some books of poetry in the 1950's and 1960's and wrote some drama from 1967 to 1970. The appearance of her first book in prose, in 1970, is an important moment in the building of her literary project, when the limits between her personal life and her literary work get closer. The research os this dissertation intends to contribute to the understanding of this context, with an interpretation of the short story Kadosh, published in 1973, in the book with the same name, with a focus in the question of sacrality. The methodology began with the reading of this story and all the published books of Hilda Hilst, after this it was done a research in the archives, working with photos, letters, booknotes and the originals, looking for the signs of the appearance of this question in the work of the writer. The main attention was directed to the period between the end of the 1960's and the begining of the 1970's, more related to the context of Kadosh. The results of all this research are the four related essays, which are presented here: the first one analyses the appearance of the sacrality as a literary question for Hilda Hilst, working with some letters, which have as theme the problem of the writer's work, showing up Hilst's image of her own, in the 1950's and 1960's; the second essay choose some excerpts of Hilst's published books, of her originals and of some articles published in the print about Kadosh, showing up Hilst's public image, in 1973-74; the third one began with an analysis of the religious references, which can be seen in the signs of the archive to produce an interpretation of Kadosh; by the end, the last one is an analisys of the writing of the author in the short story, which produces a contradiction with the religious representations of Kadosh and constitutes the special approach of Hilst to sacrality. As another result of this research, it was organized a commented edition of the short story Kadosh, which indicates part of the references alluded by the text. The conclusion of this work show up how in the work with the archives, the relation between life and literary work as one whole directs the way of interpretation and build a place of contradictions, which plays a role in making the criticism a challenge.

_________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This dissertation's object is the study of sections of the book Of Death. Minimum Odes by Hilda Hilst, connecting death and modern lyricism. The project was conceived in order to identify the names given to death that can be read in the book, analyzing them as constituents of the idea of a scripture made self-reflexive and, therefore, modern, respecting the dialogue established with the whole of her works. What is also studied is the decaying of the poet's body flesh within the corpus of the hilstian text. On a third moment, time is focused on, as the poem matter and as the entity that unleashes the decaying process of this same body.

Hilda Hilst´s literary work is varied, comprehending poetry, drama and narrative. This piece of work, however, focuses on the narrative of the Paulistana writer, with the intent to capture the tragic reality which passes through the enunciation praxis of discourse. In order to aprehend that praxis, we presupose Hilda Hilst simulates a delirium state, whose predication of the instance of enunciation is delegated to a paranoic actor inside a discourse which lays between lucidity and insanity. The analysis of the discoursive signification, common in the field of the semiotics of discourse, turns to the potentiality of the subjacent system of the tragic, and reveals a path underlined by the attempt of aprehending all the existing discourses. That path constitutes a particular writing which, by being delirious, shows up in a kaleidoscopic-labyrinthic-spiral style, creating in the discourse itself an apparent chaos. In the end of this investigation, the tragic in the discourse translates the human existence itself, in the sense of attributing to it an emptiness that may not be filled in.

______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The dissertation entitled: “Hilda Hilst: From the dramaturgy to the power and to the stage – readings of the plays O Verdugo and O Rato no Muro” has the aim to systematize conjectures about the idea of power in the ‘Hilstian’ dramaturgy, especially in the two plays mentioned above. Hilda Hilst (1930 – 2004) is recognized by the critics as one of the greatest names of the Brazilian literature. The writer achieved merit in various literary genres, like the poetry and the prose, and her dramaturgy, formed by eight plays, written between 1967 and 1969, is full of lyricism and symbolic resources. That way, the analysis is centered in the plays O Rato no Muro and O Verdugo, in witch Hilda Hilst thinks about power relations between oppressed and oppressors that become potential through speeches that denounce oppressions and oppressors and actions towards freedom. When analyzing the plays, is used the notion of the power (re)elaborated by the philosopher and historian Michel Foucault. To this academic, the power shows itself in many areas of the human relations and becomes evident mostly in the spaces in witch hierarchies are constructed and/or maintained and where the existent power relations are externalized. Foucault guide us all over the essay, organized in four chapters. In the last chapter, there is a register of the montage of a scenic reading of the text O Rato no Muro, held for the extension project named “Dramatic Wednesdays”. In this practical ant theoretic deployment, we share some experiences of the process of the transmutation of the text to the stage, showing the strength that the “Hilstian” theatre can have in the scenic montage too. Therefore, this essay, constituted in the trivet dramaturgy, power and stage, has the aim to present a analysis that can unveil the lyricism and the symbolic value of the ‘Hilstian’ theatrical text and to present some of many possibilities of theoretical and scenic interpretations.

This dissertation presents an interpretive reading of part of Hilda Hilst’s theater, written at the end of the 1960s. At its very first chapter one comes across with comments on the critical fortunes already found in her dramatic writings, comparing similar perspectives and concepts in order to establish possible critical affiliations. In its second part one analyzes the play O novo sistema, trying to understand in it how the process of instauration of a State is represented and how the dialectics between barbarism and enlightenment is questioned, mainly based on the modern paradigms of scientific evolution and instrumental reason. The dissertation continues with an interpretive reading of As aves da noite, trying to capture its infernal atmosphere, in an intertextual dialog with Dante Alighieri, comparing it to certain aspects of modernity, found in social and administrative structures organized into the restriction imposed on spiritual evolution. The last pondering is on the play A morte do patriarca, in which one tries mainly to point out the figuration of the end of utopias and the proposition of new ways of narrating and creating the historical discourse. Along the dissertation, one pursues the constant dialog held by Hilda Hilst with a wide framework of discourses, authors, and texts of various genres and fields of knowledge - such as literature, science, pedagogy, philosophy, and theater -, configuring a structure in mosaic, resulting from a bricolage process with which the playwright from São Paulo Satate writes the three plays focused here

Representações do corpo na obra de Hilda Hilst / Representations of the body in the work of Hilda Hilst

The objective of this research is to make an analysis of the development of Hilda Hilst's thoughts manifested in her literary work regarding the relation with the thematic of the body. Starting from the statement that her literature has a nature that is essentially existentialist, we try to point out the way that the body is presented as a central element in Hilst's production, since it appears as one of the conflicting dimensions of the double human nature (body/mind). We elected four distinct moments of Hilda Hilst's literary career to compose this panel of the representation of the body: her poetic production from 1962 to 1967; all her dramaturgical production (1967-1969); the book "A Obscena Senhora D" (1962) and the book "Cartas de um sedutor" (1991). We also elected three authors that are often referenced by Hilst - Nikos Kanzantzakis, Ernest Becker e Georges Bataille - in order to help us with the critical analysis, establishing relations between their thoughts and the pieces analyzed looking for possible resonances / Mestrado / Teoria e Critica Literaria / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária

Duarte, Andrea Fricke January 2015 (has links)
The thesis proposes a meeting between the Hilda Hilst’s pornography trilogy and the researcher in the essay form. The trilogy is composed by the books “The Pink Book of Lori Lamby (1990)”, “Letters of a seductive (1991)” e “Mockery Short Story/Grotesque Writing (1992)” presenting a change in the author’s trajectory, which is announced in the route to the pornography writings, a called forsake of the “serious literature”, and lastly, between the years 1998 – 2004, the writer assumes a new speech; the forsake of literature, when she declares publicly: “I have nothing else to say”. To investigate these periods of time, an immersion work was made in the personal archives of the author, besides the reading of the author’s works, followed by the proposition of Didi- Huberman about the images: the image system of imagination is a place of political fight mainly in those images that carry memories and have the strength to transmit something of a lost time. The confrontation of different times is an analyses strategy of the archives material, once the thesis hypothesis is that when Hilda Hilst “feels free to fail” occurs together a change of the format in the use of humor in her literature. By the theoretical tools of the psychoanalyses field, the art, the literature and the critic, the research investigates the concepts of erotic, pornography and obscene, that composes the authors universe, along with the following analysis axes: questioning of image, writing, archive, survival and the grotesque realism as a strategy for the laughable. The method was the essay as an objective to develop a poetic research in the work progress. The hilstian writing of this period has as an objective wake up the reader with a punch, and here in this work has just hit her (the author Hilda) in the face. From this shock, a falling into the space and a destabilization operated. Thereby having in mind this literature, the thesis was built as a route in the investigation of fall, proposing The studies of gravity - fluctuation between the weight and lightness, as the results of this poetic research.
