Intentionalitet i kollektiva beteenden hos en artificiell svärm / Intentionality in collective behaviors of an artificial swarm

Stenfelt, Matilda January 2020 (has links)

Zařízení pro monitorování teploty a vlhkosti s vzdáleným přenosem dat / Temperature and humidity monitoring devices with wirelless communication

Hrbáček, Zdeněk January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this work is to design and implement a device for collecting temperature and humidity from bee hive. The system consists of a measuring unit that contains digital sensors and actuators. The system transmits the measured values wirelessly to the parent unit, which displays the data in a suitable format to the user. The user can monitor the hive parameters and use the actuators to adjust the temperature inside the hive. The whole system then operates autonomously according to defined rules.

Interactions Between Patterns of Gamer Behaviors and Time-on-Task for Mathematics Remediation in a Game-based HIVE

Fuller, Marvin Gene 01 January 2015 (has links)
As the presence of digital game-based learning increases in United States classrooms, understanding their impact on achievement is critical. Digital games for learning offer many potential benefits, including reducing the number of students trapped in a remediation cycle, a contributor to college dropout. Despite the recognized potential of game-based learning, few researchers have explored the relationships between specific patterns of behaviors and types of digital game-based learning environments. The underlying theory for this study was patterns of gamer behaviors may predict in-game behaviors. Archival, third-party data regarding The Lost Function - Episode 1: Sum of the Forgotten Minds by Advanced Training & Learning Technology, LLC was used in this study. Using 4 case groups at the high school and college levels (n=114), self-reported levels of the 3 patterns of gamer behaviors, gender, and age-band were analyzed using multiple regression to determine relationships to time-on-task in a game-based highly interactive virtual environment, designed for mathematics remediation. While the results were inconclusive, this study supported the existing literature regarding gender differences and the lack of mutual exclusivity in behavior typing. Recommendations include additional research in how the statements used in the 3-factor model may be adjusted to allow for a broader population of game players. The social change implication is that further understanding of the relationship between learner traits and digital learning environment may assist educators that employ digital game-based learning a way to better align learners to the most appropriate digital learning environment, thereby increases their chances at success.

(Not) Drawing The Line: Technology Reexamined

Liguori, Elizabeth Angela 07 June 2017 (has links)
(Not) Drawing The Line: Technology Re-examined is the culmination of interdisciplinary research exploring the nature of materiality and process in the fields of art, science, and technology. Exploration and experimentation in these diverse disciplines have helped to illuminate many of the ideas and concepts that have guided the overall research process. These explorations have also honed the ability to critically examine how technology is perceived and represented, post-internet.   This document illustrates the processes involved in the conception and creation of a body of work manifested through visual and technological problem solving, investigative research of materials and technologies, and the fundamental concerns of art, technology, form and pattern. These empirical areas of research are punctuated by literary texts on the philosophy of art and technology that have informed many of the visual comparisons represented. This body of evidence is an exploration of the idea that the evolution of technological developments can often be attributed to the creation of art through the heuristic experimentation and visual explorations of the artist. / Master of Fine Arts / (Not) Drawing The Line: Technology Re-examined is the result of exploration and research in the areas of studio art, science, and technology. Many of the ideas and concepts presented in this documentation are a result of curiosity-driven research which uses materials and processes to help form connections across disciplines. In most examples, the materials used are common or familiar items such as the #2 pencil, reflective surfaces such as a mirror, or clay used for ceramics. The intention behind the work documented in this thesis is to help the viewer look at these everyday materials in a different way than their common use suggests through visual comparisons and wordplay. Its goal is to suggest that a new use or discovery may be presented in common materials and that solutions to complicated problems could be found right under our noses, so to speak. at its core, it is a commentary on technology, its uses, and perceptions during our current, post-internet place in history
