The delimited empirical field is the village of Serra das Araras, the place of the centennial celebration that attracts every year thousands of people. In order to carry out this research, fieldwork was done during and beyond the festival period. Some groups of pilgrims were followed for two years running, from the organization of the material structure to the arrival at the village of Serra das Araras, having been followed along the festival in order to observe, describe and analyze the devotional practices. A field diary was used to facilitate the daily data records within the party. Interviews with pilgrims and devotees were conducted during and outside the festival period, prioritizing the older ones by considering the accumulation of knowledge and practices in the history of this tradition celebrated annually. The was an attempt to address the aspects of inheritance and memory in the traditional festival by using authors who could serve as a reference to understand and interpret, from the concepts proposed by them, the pilgrimages and devotional practices within the festival.

Steiblytė, Kristina 13 June 2013 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Thesis deals with political rituals in public city spaces extra focus lying on their theatrical and performative elements. Silva, Marinalva do Rego Barros January 2019 (has links)
The research was an ethnographic work, supported by Clifford Geertz's semiotic concept of culture, according to which man is linked to webs of meanings woven by himself, being the culture these webs and their analysis, a channel of interpretation and search for meaning. The methodological path in the ethnographic work was the dense description proposed by Clifford Geertz, with the use of participant observations, interviews, photographic collections and other elements produced by the community in the celebration of the festival. At the end of the research, it was evidenced that the Nossa Senhora do Rosário Festival in Monte do Carmo comes close to the context of cultural crossbreeding, and its permanence between generations has been guaranteed by the sense of belonging and the maintenance of traditions amid the adaptations that needed in the ... Nagy, Liana C., Faisal, Muhammad, Horne, M., Collins, P., Barber, S., Mohammed, Mohammed A. 25 August 2020 (has links)
Yes / To investigate factors associated with movement behaviours among White British (WB) and South Asian (SA) children aged 6-8 years during school terms and holidays. Cross-sectional. Three primary schools from the Bradford area, UK. One hundred and sixty WB and SA children aged 6-8 years. Sedentary behaviour (SB), light physical activity (LPA) and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) measured by accelerometry during summer, winter and spring and during school terms and school holidays. Data were analysed using multivariate mixed-effects multilevel modelling with robust SEs. Factors of interest were ethnicity, holiday/term, sex, socioeconomic status (SES), weight status, weekend/weekday and season. One hundred and eight children (67.5%) provided 1157 valid days of data. Fifty-nine per cent of children were WB (n=64) and 41% (n=44) were SA. Boys spent more time in MVPA (11 min/day, p=0.013) compared with girls and SA children spent more time in SB (39 min, p=0.017) compared with WB children in adjusted models. Children living in higher SES areas were more sedentary (43 min, p=0.006) than children living in low SES areas. Children were more active during summer (15 min MVPA, p<0.001; 27 LPA, p<0.001) and spring (15 min MVPA, p=0.005; 38 min LPA, p<0.001) and less sedentary (−42 min and −53 min, p<0.001) compared with winter. Less time (8 min, p=0.012) was spent in LPA during school terms compared with school holidays. Children spent more time in MVPA (5 min, p=0.036) during weekend compared with weekdays. Overweight and obese children spent more time in LPA (21 min, p=0.021) than normal-weight children. The results of our study suggest that significant child level factors associated with movement behaviours are ethnicity, sex, weight-status and area SES. Significant temporal factors are weekends, school holidays and seasonality. Interventions to support health enhancing movement behaviours may need to be tailored around these factors.

Beauty and the beach.

Plunkett, Claudia Bernadette. January 2003 (has links)
This dissertation aims to interpret holiday imagery in the media, as a site of South African cultural production, on the basis of newspaper images of local white and black people published in the Natal Mercury from 1966 to 1996. A strong historical approach (the history of the Western holiday) has been taken in order to analyze existing social structures relating to the holiday in South Africa, specifically gender, race and class. These social structures have been examined in depth, with the result of numerous interpretations being made about behaviour and the depiction of behaviour in the context of Durban beaches and leisure. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2003.
