La multiplication de l’alternative d’aménagement « ville nouvelle » à proximité des métropoles au XXe siècle dans le monde, laisse a priori croire à la reproduction d’un archétype urbain, la « cité-jardin » et a posteriori, attendre une évolution vers un prototype propre au XXIe siècle. Ces postulats incitent à un approfondissement sur la forme existante et l’image reflétée : quel paysage urbain fabriqué et à fabriquer. En ce sens, cette thèse de doctorat permet d’exploiter le binôme « ville nouvelle/paysage urbain ».De l’observation à la qualification, l’analyse s’appuie sur les pratiques traditionnelles des précurseurs du townscape (lectures pittoresque et morphologique, analyse séquentielle, silhouette, inventaire urbain), par le biais d’images fixes (photographies) et d’images en mouvement (vidéo) recueillies en France, Chine, Pays-Bas, Finlande, États-Unis et Angleterre. Les composantes de l’aménagement sont développées selon quatre thématiques : le(s) centre(s) ville(s), le tissu minéral (de la mobilité), le tissu de nature, et le « tissu vertical » ou membrane architecturale. Face au constat du manque de renouvellement dans l’interprétation graphique du paysage, une représentation prenant en compte l’expérience sensible de type « carte d’identité » est encouragée. Pluridisciplinaire, achronique et internationale, notre recherche confirme l’identité conceptuelle de la « ville nouvelle métropolitaine » du XXe siècle en s’écartant de l’idée de modèle urbain ; elle reconnait au paysage ses qualités in-transposables et sa capacité de levier dans l’aménagement du territoire ; elle accentue le rôle de l’esthétique urbaine contribuant au plaisir des « villeneuviens ». / The proliferation of new towns as an alternative development near the metropolis in the 20th Century in the world, a priori suggests the reproduction of an urban archetype, the “garden city”, a posteriori a change towards a specific 21st Century prototype might be expected. These assumptions encourage a deepening of the existing form and of its reflected image: what type of townscape built and yet to be built. The present doctoral thesis enables us to take advantage of the binomial “new town/townscape”.From observation to qualification, the analysis is based on the precursors of townscape's traditional practices: picturesque survey, serial vision, skyline, urban inventory and morphological reading. The methodology operates mainly through still images (photographs) and moving images (video) collected through fieldwork in France, China, the Netherlands, Finland, the USA and England.The major components of the “metropolitan new towns” development are presented along four themes: multipolarity or town-center(s), mineral fabric or mobility weft, natural fabric and “vertical fabric” or “architectural membrane”. Considering the lack of renewal in the graphic interpretation of townscapes, a representation such as an “Identity Map”, which expresses a more sensitive experience, is proposed.This multidisciplinary, achronic and international research confirms the facial identity of the “metropolitan new town” of the 20th Century, downplaying the notion of an urban model. It recognizes in the townscape both non-transferable qualities and a leveraging potential for territorial development. It emphasizes the role of urban aesthetics in contributing to the pleasure of new town residents.

Previous issue date: 2010-05-25 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This dissertation had the primary objective of analyzing the relevance of associating tourism marketing to strategic image management in acquiring destinations and furthermore explores the tourism image of the city of São Paulo, aiming at providing a verification method for the phenomenon studied and lending more credibility to the work. To that end, we performed a bibliographical review on tourism marketing and the image of destinations and presented a case study about the image of São Paulo based on the work developed by São Paulo Turismo, a tourism and events company in São Paulo/SP. The principal results show that a progressive increase in tourism in the global market implies a competitive situation among locations interested in developing tourism, so that the efficient marketing management of the activities becomes a prerogative given market competitiveness; the results also show that the destination's image is ever more relevant given its recognition as one of the most important aspects in the process of selecting a destination, as well as in satisfaction and possible repeat visits. The theme has become prevalent internationally as an important research subject and existing investigations show that external and internal factors are extremely important and influence a tourism destination's image perception; therefore the strategic management of the destination's image is essential in the tourism marketing process. The case study evidenced the interest on the part of the tourism company in the city of São Paulo in expanding the city's image to encompass leisure and entertainment, given that the image is currently essentially focused on business and work, which hinders the full development of tourism in the city / Esta dissertação objetivou primordialmente, analisar a relevância da associação do marketing turístico à administração estratégica de imagem para aquisição de destinos e ainda, explorar a imagem turística da cidade de São Paulo, visando fornecer um meio de verificação do fenômeno estudado e conferir maior legitimidade ao trabalho. Para tanto, realizamos uma revisão bibliográfica acerca do marketing turístico e da imagem de destinos e apresentamos um estudo de caso sobre a imagem da cidade de São Paulo baseado no trabalho desenvolvido pela São Paulo Turismo, empresa de turismo e eventos da cidade de São Paulo/SP. Como principais resultados temos que a progressiva ascendência do turismo no mercado global implica um quadro de concorrência entre as localidades interessadas em desenvolvê-lo fazendo com que uma gestão mercadológica eficiente da atividade passe a ser uma prerrogativa ante a competitividade do mercado e ainda, que a imagem do destino torne-se cada vez mais relevante, ante o reconhecimento desta como um dos aspectos mais importantes no processo de escolha de uma destinação, bem como na satisfação e possível repetição dela. O tema vem impondo-se internacionalmente como importante área de pesquisa e as investigações existentes apontam que fatores externos e internos, são extremamente importantes e influenciam a percepção da imagem de um destino turístico e que, neste sentido a administração estratégica de imagens torna-se fundamental no processo de marketing turístico. O estudo de caso evidenciou o interesse por parte da empresa de turismo da cidade de São Paulo em expandir a imagem do município posicionando-a para o lazer e entretenimento, visto que o mesmo encontra-se fundamentalmente ligado a uma imagem de negócios e trabalho que impede o pleno desenvolvimento do turismo na cidade

O estudo investigou, com base nas seis edições da Bienal, a sua relação com três categorias principais do processo de empresariamento urbano: (1) a parceria público-privada, focalizando o papel do poder público local na captação de financiamentos e investimentos privados e na criação de novas fontes de empresariamento; (2) o papel dos atores estratégicos na criação da Fundação Bienal de Artes Visuais do Mercosul, entre os quais políticos, empresários, curadores e artistas plásticos; (3) as intervenções relacionadas à promoção da imagem da cidade e à transformação da paisagem. A análise dos dados empíricos mostrou que apenas duas categorias, a parceria público-privada e os atores estratégicos, tiveram um papel significatiovo na Bienal do Mercosul para associar a cultura e o turismo à promoção da cidade no cenário internacional. The analyzis of the indicators showed that only two of them: public-private partnership and strategic actors had an important role in Mercosul Bienal to associate culture and tourism to the promotion of the city in an international context. Through the results of the study, we concluded that Mercosul Biennial and Mercosul Visual Arts Biennial Foundation as a partical expression of entrepreneurialism process in the urban administration of the city.

The diploma thesis The Images of a City: the Resident's View of the Town of Nymburk deals with the issue of why people behave differently. The thesis is inspired by the approach of behavioral geography, which is represented by Kevin Lynch's work. Lynch has proposed the concept of the image of the city, the people's vision about the surroundings of a place where they live. The image of the city consists of its visible features evoking a strong impression and having an effect on people's sensory perception. Moreover, the direct influence of the city represented by architectural-urbanistic determinism and environmental psychology is also taken into account. I have found out during the research that both of theoretical approaches are important for identifying the relation between the town and his residents which relates to the behavior in the town. The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out which images of the town of Nymburk its inhabitants have, which components create their images and what is the composition of these components. The thesis focuses both on universal image of Nymburk and on images of the town with regard to the current lifecycle stage and respondents' sex. The master’s dissertation is devoted to the researching of contemporary art in the city space. Yekaterinburg is the illustrative material for the theme of the research. The work is focused on the analysis of the forms and ways of existence for actual art practices in the city, as well as the establish an adequate research tools for their comprehension. The author turns to art history discourse, post-non-classical aesthetic theory and system approach and formulates basic methods of analysis of art practices in the city. Considering the city as an aesthetic phenomenon, the author shows the special role of the art-practices in shaping the image of the city and its experience by its citizens.
The author insists on consideration art-practices in the city as partisipative art, which interacts with the viewers, including them in the space of artistic expression, as well as in the space of people's interactions with each other. The work reveals aesthetic and cultural transformations of the city with contemporary art. / Магистерская диссертация посвящена изучению актуального искусства в пространстве города, конкретизируя их функционирование в Екатеринбурге. Работа сосредоточена на исследовании форм и способов существования актуальных арт-практик в городе, а также выработке адекватного исследовательского инструментария для их осмысления. Автор обращается к искусствоведческому дискурсу, постнеклассической эстетической теории и системному подходу и формулирует основные способы анализа городских арт-практик. Рассматривая город как эстетический феномен, автор показывает особую роль арт-практик в формировании образа города и его переживания его жителями.

Zeleň veřejných prostorů v nových obytných souborech (obytné soubory v okrajových částech měst) / Greenery of public spaces in new residential areas (residential areas on the outskirts of the cities)Horká, Julie Unknown Date (has links)
In the current post-industrial society, with increasing requirement of sustainability, greenery significantly participates in the spatial, operational and functional organization of the urban environment. The first part of the thesis introduces relationship between formation and structure of greenery in an urban environment from the historical point of view. Elements of greenery in an urban environment and on its margins filled a variety of functions: from productional and aesthetical to the recreational and ecological. Green areas have also gradually become an important public space. In the current urban environment, areas of vegetation arise mainly in the form of recultivation of post-industrial areas, adjusted smaller parks, greenery of business and entertainment centers, or greenery of residential units. The thesis is focusing on the last mentioned type, which should be in the closest coexistence with residential environment and on the possibilities of creating eco-residential units, which can become a substitute /or at least one of the possible options/ to mono-functional residential zones emerging on the outskirts of our cities and in the open countryside and act against the ongoing suburbanization and its negative effects. The text of doctoral thesis is trying to find qualitative aspects of greenery which supports the creation of living, attractive and sustainable public spaces. Comparison and evaluation of selected examples from abroad /Austria, Germany, Holland/ and also from the Czech Republic brings us the definition of the necessary and optimum qualitative properties of greenery in public, but also semi-public spaces of residential complexes. These examples of good practice may be used - as a whole or in parts – as inspiration for the development of residential projects in the Czech Republic, either in preferred brownfields areas or in carefully selected areas of new development. The final chapter emphasizes the inseparability of the creation of public spaces and greenery in residential areas from the sustainable development of the area in terms of a penetrable and compact city.
