Industry specific know-how, inventiveness, and research performance of universities’ entrepreneurs : a cross-national patent portfolio analysisLubango, Louis Mitondo 12 June 2010 (has links)
This study addresses two major questions of great salience in science, technology and innovation studies. What are the promoters of innovativeness in academia? Are patenting of inventions and research performance in conflict in academia or do they rather co-evolve and/or reinforce each other? Patents applications to the South African Patent Office from 1996 to 2006 are used as indicators of inventive capacity of South African universities for that period. The investigation determines, for the first time, patenting activities of local universities at the South African Patent Office and identifies the performance of faculties and departments. The assertion that previous industry working experience can affect the inventiveness of academic researchers is then investigated. No other study has investigated this issue in South Africa. The study finds that most inventors or co-inventors worked in industries before universities employed them. The study contends that employing scientists or engineers who previously worked in industry is an effective mechanism through which universities could absorb scientific and technical skills that could inform researchers on how to design patentable inventions and thus promote their inventive capacity. It is argued that this mechanism is equally valid in developed and developing countries (like South Africa) and those universities internationally wishing to improve their entrepreneurial character should aim to employ academics with previous industry work experience. The study also investigates whether patenting impedes the research performance (publication outputs, teaching, development of disciplines, etc.) of universities’ professors using the Poisson regression model. The confounding effects of other variables deemed to affect the publication productivity, such as research/faculty orientation, collaboration, etc. are taken into account. The results show that professors who are inventive: (i) outperform academically (NRF-rating) and publish more than those who do not invent at all; (ii) inventiveness and academic performance can co-exist peacefully and reinforce each other. The study finally investigates whether or not concurrent production of scientific articles and patenting of technical inventions can support each other. In an analysis of 70 patents obtained from the USPTO (United States Patent and Trade Marks Office), EPO (European Patent Office), and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) that were invented or co-invented by scientists employed in South African universities from 1994 to 2006, 58 patents (82% plus) overlapped, i.e. formed pairs with scientific articles. Authors tended to patent and publish at the same time and the same intellectual work informed both products. Extended case studies of backward and forward citation patterns of pairs pertaining to the classes of polymers (chemistry and related sciences), optoelectronics (signal processing), biotechnology and related sciences and mineral processing (separation technology) point to two important conclusions. Some technical knowledge can also flow into the public science domain via an article. Previous issue date: 2011-03-31 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Os alunos de licenciatura em Matemática, ao optarem por esse curso, trazem, muitas vezes, o status de “bom aluno”, conquistado durante sua formação nos Ensinos Fundamental e Médio, porém, quando ingressam no Ensino Superior, outras marcas vão se dando. A presente dissertação procurou ouvir esse processo. Foram estudadas marcas formativas que foram sendo reveladas pelos/nos alunos, no decorrer da investigação, que, por sua vez, foi realizada nas aulas das disciplinas Matemática Escolar I e Geometria Espacial, em um curso de Licenciatura em Matemática; ao longo, ainda, de leituras e releituras de avaliações diagnósticas, realizadas pelo professor da disciplina Matemática Escolar I; e durante uma entrevista, realizada com três licenciandos. Com ouvidos aguçados para essa sonoridade, é possível dizer que expectativas são construídas e desconstruídas, ao longo da licenciatura, que esteja em curso, e, assim, a noção de “bom aluno” acaba modificada, modificando, também, a imagem do que seria ser professor de matemática. A partir dessas marcas, do estudo de autores como Descartes, Deleuze, Nietzsche, Kastrup, entre outros, e do questionamento sobre quais marcas formativas vão sendo constituídas nos/pelos alunos, que optam pela Licenciatura em Matemática, em seus percursos de formação, é que a escrita desta dissertação se deu. / The undergraduate students in mathematics, by choosing this course, bring, often the status of "good student", gained during his training in Elementary and Middle, but when they enter higher education, other brands will be giving. This dissertation sought to hear this case. We studied formative marks that were revealed by/in the students during the investigation, which, in turn, was held in the classes of subjects School Mathematics I and Geometry Space in a course of Mathematics; along also readings and interpretations of diagnostic evaluations, performed by teachers School Mathematics I, and during an interview, conducted with three undergraduates. With keen ears to that sound, you can say that expectations are constructed and deconstructed over the degree course, which is ongoing, and thus the notion of "good student " has just changed, changing, too, the image of what would be a math teacher. From these marks, the study authors as Descartes, Deleuze, Nietzsche, Kastrup, among others, and the discussion about which trade marks are being made in training / by students opting for degree in Mathematics in its educational routes, is that the writing of this dissertation is given.

matemática outra, potente em possibilidades. Busca-se, em meio às letras, narrar
como alunos jovens e adultos falam sobre a matemática no espaço da sala de aula.
A partir da narrativa de duas atividades, vividas por alunos da Educação de Jovens e
Adultos em uma sala de aula de Matemática, grafo palavras que tentam ceder um
rosto e, mais do que isso, experienciar, em sala de aula, uma outra matemática,
distinta da Matemática dita escolar. Espaço de possibilidades experienciado por
dezessete educandos da Educação de Jovens e Adultos, cursando nível médio.
Surgem ali modos novos de compreender, distintos daqueles predominantes: os
saberes científicos modernos. O conhecimento nasce como construção, um construir
sempre inacabado. Na Matemática, aparecem muitas outras matemáticas. As vozes
ecoam possibilidades. Dos desconhecidos vê-se o conhecimento. Nos abandonados,
ouvem-se os ecos de verdades, de muitas possíveis verdades; encontramos
diversos saberes. Ancorado e mergulhado nas vozes de Nietzsche e Deleuze, meu
porto seguro fora invadido. Este texto aparece na cena em movimento, como
invenção de tornar vivências e experiências num construto de letras, palavras que
movimentam, andarilham pela cognição adulta. Como os alunos da EJA falam sobre
a matemática no espaço da sala de aula? Para onde vão as folhas quando dançam
uma leve dança com o vento? Em que direção aponta este texto? Provavelmente
não aponta um horizonte, mas abre muitos caminhos, incertas estradas, tantas
quantas forem possíveis inventar. Devires / This study tests a text by which intends to feel the edges of another mathematics,
powerful in possibilities. It persues, in middle of letters, to narrate how young and
adults students talk about the mathematics in the classroom. From the narrative of
two activities, experienced by students in the Young and Adults Education in a
classroom of Mathematics, graph words trying to give a face and, more importantly,
experience in the classroom, another mathematics, different from the called scholar
mathematics. Space of learning opportunities experienced by seventeen students of
Young and Adults Education in High School. It arises there new ways to understand,
different from those preponderant: the modern scientific knowledge. Knowledge
comes as a construction, always unfinished. In mathematics, many mathematics
appear. The voices echo opportunities. From those who unknown, the knowledge is
seen. From those who are abandoned, it hears the echoes of truths, of many possible
truths, we find several knowledge. Anchored and immersed in the voices of Nietzsche
and Deleuze, my safe haven was invaded. This text appears on the scene in motion,
as an invention to become experiences in a construct letters, words that move by the
adult cognition. How EJA students talk about the mathematics in the classroom
space? Where will go the leaves when they dance softly with the wind? In which
direction this text indicates? Probably, it does not indicate a horizon, but opens up

Previous issue date: 2011-04-01 / Within the poetic scenario of Rio Grande do Norte the publication of Livro de Poemas
de Jorge Fernandes, in 2007, marks, in the imagery of the Potiguar community of
poetry readers, producers and critics, the beginning of the social circulation of an
inventive ethos associated with the poet Jorge Fernandes de Oliveira (1887-1953).
Regarding the event mentioned earlier as a point of reference, this research
investigates the construction of such ethos based on the counterpoint between the
poet s individual stylistic choices and the stylistic options that prevailed in the lyric
production of the Twenties in the 20th Century. The corpus comprises poetic texts (by
the poet under discussion and by other poets who were, then, regarded as icons of
the poetry of Rio Grande do Norte) and texts representative of local literary criticism
(produced both during the Twenties and in other decades of the last century).
Support to this analysis is grounded in Mikhail Bakhtin s theory of the utterance
(mainly regarding style) and in Dominique Maingueneau s theory of the utterance
(mainly regarding ethos). During the course of this investigation, the research has
outlined an inventory of the prevailing individual stylistic choices of Jorge Fernandes
de Oliveira and the reasons why such choices point out towards the inventive ethos
associated with the poet. / No cen?rio po?tico norte-rio-grandense, a publica??o do Livro de Poemas de Jorge
Fernandes, em 1927, assinala, no imagin?rio da comunidade potiguar leitora,
produtora e cr?tica de poesia, o in?cio da circula??o social de um ethos inventivo
vinculado ao poeta Jorge Fernandes de Oliveira (1887-1953). Tomando como
refer?ncia o evento aludido, a pesquisa investiga a constru??o desse ethos a partir
do contraponto entre as escolhas estil?sticas individuais do poeta e as escolhas
estil?sticas dominantes na produ??o l?rica local dos anos 20 do s?culo XX. O corpus
constitui-se de textos po?ticos (tanto do poeta em foco quanto de outros poetas
tidos, ? ?poca, como ?cones da poesia norte-rio-grandense) e de textos
representativos da cr?tica liter?ria local (tanto produzidos nos anos 20 quanto em

La fantaisie noire dans la fiction en prose de Boris Vian (Romans, nouvelles, pièce de théâtre) / The “fantaisie noire” in the fictional texts in prose of Boris Vian (Novels, short stories and plays)Pradère-Ascione, Clémentine 29 June 2015 (has links)
L’œuvre littéraire de Boris Vian interpelle par la diversité des émotions qu’elle suscite. Elle est pourtant restée longtemps méconnue, masquée par les talents protéiformes de son auteur. Boris Vian, dont la majorité des textes ont été publiés à titre posthume, fut perçu comme un touche-à-tout avant d’être véritablement reconnu comme écrivain, pour finalement entrer dans l’édition de la Pléiade en 2010, cinquante et un an après sa mort. Le premier réflexe est de faire appel à la notion de fantaisie pour analyser son œuvre. Le monde fictionnel qu’il crée est un univers fantaisiste où triomphent imaginaire et inventivité. Pourtant, des univers contradictoires s’entremêlent : féerie et cruauté, légèreté et inquiétude, désinvolture et gravité, imaginaire et réalité. En nous appuyant uniquement sur les textes de fiction en prose (romans, nouvelles et pièces de théâtre), nous nous sommes donc interrogés sur la légitimité de la notion de fantaisie. Son évidence apparente résiste-t-elle à un examen plus poussé ? Ce questionnement nous a conduits à élaborer la notion de « fantaisie noire ». Tantôt féerique, invraisemblable, langagière, comique ou parodique, la fantaisie se heurte à l’intériorité des personnages et à un sentiment d’inquiétude qui contamine les êtres et les choses. La fantaisie cède le pas à la noirceur d’un monde étouffant où le fantasme se révèle dans toute sa puissance. Le retour à la fantaisie n’est alors possible que par des effets de distanciation comiques et une inventivité langagière qui contribue à laisser l’œuvre ouverte. / Boris Vian's literary work calls to mind by the feelings it arouses. For a long time it nevertheless remained unknown concealed by its author's protean talents. Boris Vian, whose texts were mostly published posthumously, wasn't at the beginning seen as a writer to finally get in the Pléiade in 2010, 51 years after his death. To analyse his work it appears natural to consider the idea of fantasy. The fictional world he created remains a fantasist one where imagination and inventiveness prevail. Yet, opposing worlds get mixed up: fairy and cruelty, casualness and anxiety, indifference and seriousness, fantasy and reality. Considering only the fictional texts in prose (novels, short stories and plays) we questionned the legitimity of the fantasy notion. Does its obviousness withstand a further analysis? This questioning drove us to the idea of 'fantaisie noire'. Sometimes magical, incredible, linguistic, comical or parodic, the fantasy collides with the inwardness of the characters and with an anxiety that contaminates both beings and objects. The fantasy defers to an oppresive world where the dream reveals itself in all its power. The come back to fantasy is then only possible by comical detachments and a linguistic inventiveness that contributes to let the work opened.

Работа содержит 121 страницу машинописного текста, 26 таблиц, 26 рисунков, 38 формул и библиографический список из 68 источников, приложения к работе составлены на 20 страницах. Ключевые слова: гражданское строительство, монолитные и сборно-монолитные здания, конструктивные и технологические решения, комплексная оценка, изобретательство. Диссертация посвящена комплексной оценке и совершенствованию конструктивных и технологических решений монолитных и сборно-монолитных систем гражданских зданий (на примере г. Екатеринбурга). В первой главе выполнен анализ современных конструктивных и технологических решений монолитных и сборно-монолитных гражданских зданий и определены преимущества и недостатки монолитного и сборно-монолитного домостроения. Во второй главе представлены результаты комплексной оценки конструктивных и технологических решений монолитных и сборно-монолитных гражданских зданий. Третья глава содержит описание авторских методик по оценке и совершенствованию конструктивных и технологических решений сборно-монолитных гражданских зданий. В четвертой главе представлены новые конструктивные и технологические решения для сборно-монолитной системы, обладающей высоким инновационным потенциалом. В результате диссертационного исследования были решены следующие задачи: проанализированы достоинства и недостатки современных монолитных и сборно-монолитных гражданских зданий в России и за рубежом; выполнена комплексная оценка конструктивных и технологических решений монолитных и сборно-монолитных гражданских зданий (на примере г. Екатеринбурга), включающая анализ параметров зданий, выполненный аналитическим и экспертным методами; разработан комплекс методических инструментов по оценке и совершенствованию конструктивных и технологических решений сборно-монолитных гражданских зданий, включающий систему оценки готовности специалиста к экспертизе в области строительства и методику оценки инновационного потенциала сборно-монолитных систем гражданских зданий; на изобретательской основе разработан комплекс новых конструктивных и технологических решений для сборно-монолитной системы, обладающей высоким инновационным потенциалом. / The thesis consists of an introduction, 4 chapters, with conclusions for each, formulated in accordance with the goals and objectives of the study, general conclusions. The thesis is devoted to the integrated estimation and improvement of design and technological concepts of cast-in-situ and precast and cast-in-situ systems civil buildings (on the example of Ekaterinburg). In the first chapter the analysis of modern design and technological concepts for cast-in-situ and precast and cast-in-situ civil buildings and identified the advantages and disadvantages this constructions. The second chapter presents the results of a integrated estimation of design and technological concepts for cast-in-situ and precast and cast-in-situ civil buildings. The third chapter contains a description of the author's methods for estimation and improving the design and technological concepts for precast and cast-in-situ civil buildings. The fourth chapter presents new design and technological concepts for the precast and cast-in-situ system, which has a high innovative potential.
