ERP implementation - Seeing through a lens : A comparative literature review regarding the factors that influence a successful ERP system implementation.

Rashidzadeh Azar, Soran, Chaudhry, Muhammad Irfan January 2010 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to describe and analyse the factors that contribute to the successful ERP system implementation, the stakeholders of ERP system and how these stakeholders are related to CSFs of ERP system implementation. Design/ methodology/ approach: The research methodology approach chosen for this research is based on reality and clear research which includes qualitative and quantitative method for collecting and analysing data. Data for this research consists of secondary data, gathered by conducting a critical literature review of research papers published by journals, magazines and books.  The content analysis and comparative study methods are used to analyse data. Findings: Seventeen CSFs that are considered to contribute to ERP implementation success have been identified in accordance with their prioritization where twelve of them have been described; by analyzing some widely accepted in prior researches. Three stakeholders of ERP such as “Top management, IT professionals and End-users” have been identified and their involvement in the ERP implementation has been described. The result revealed that several CSFs of ERP such as “user training and involvement, ERP teamwork and selection of ERP are directly related to End-users”. The findings also revealed that Top management are related to majority of CSFs such as “top management support and commitment, change management, business plan and vision, system quality, project management, effective communication plan, selection of ERP, monitoring and focused performance evaluation, project champion, and business and IT infrastructure”. The result from analysis also showed a correlation between IT professionals and several CSFs such as “selection of ERP, system quality, user training and involvement, post-implementation evaluation, business plan and vision, change management, ERP teamwork, effective communication plan, and business and IT infrastructure”.

Öhlund, Veronica, Wiklund, Erika January 2008 (has links)
Background: The research of implementation processes in the public health area is still relatively limited. Implementation concerns the procedure of putting into action a new method or program into an organization’s internal, everyday operation. Implementation encompasses the realization of, and the carrying through of, for example a program, but an important aspect is also that the implementation has the desired effect. To make sure that the result of a method in practice will be positive, it is of greatest importance that the implementation works. It does not matter how well the method works, if it does not have the support of the organization. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine possibilities and obstacles of implementation of a program in social and emotional learning, Second Step, among 4-6 year olds in preschool/school. Method: On assignment from the public health team in the counties in northern Örebro, an evaluation of the implementation of the program in the four municipalities Lindesberg, Nora, Hällefors and Ljusnarsberg was performed. The sample consisted of all educationalists that had completed the Second Step 1 training, a total of 182 individuals. A quantitative approach was chosen, as the idea was to reach a greater number of educationalists. Data was collected through a questionnaire and analyzed with the help of SPSS and a simple kind of content analysis. Result: The reply frequency was 37%, which is too low for a generalization of the result. 72% of the respondents worked at a preschool/school that at the time used Second Step 1 in the organization. All in all, about 90% of the respondents had worked at a preschool/school that had used Second Step 1 in the organization at some point. Most of the respondents were pleased with Second Step as a program. The majority of the respondents stated that the practical introduction of Second Step had functioned well and the fidelity was relatively high with a few exceptions. Factors that have made the implementation of Second Step possible is need for social and emotional learning, positive attitudes, leader support, visible effects of the program, access to premises, flexibility and settled times. Factors that have proven to be obstacles for the implementation of Second Step are problems with the group composition, lack of support from colleagues, lack of access to premises and lack of time to plan and perform. Discussion/conclusions: Theresult has been put in relation to earlier research and the discovered tendencies correspond well with earlier theories and models. Second Step indicates to be relevant as a program, though the need of social and emotional learning in preschool/school seems to exist, which at an early stage makes the implementation possible. Other facilitating implementation factors tend to vary in importance depending on where in the process the program is. Overall, the fidelity is satisfactory, but it would probably have been more beneficial with clearer goals and guidelines for the program in the organizations. An evaluating exchange meeting could have been valuable to facilitate the program skill development among the educationalists. Future research: One example for future studies can be to put more focus on those who stop using the program and reasons for this. This study may also be a basis for, and facilitate, future studies, especially considering the method and discussion of the method which can contribute to improve control over the survey in similar studies.

No mine for old men? : New technology and digitalization in a mining organization

Löfgren, Anna January 2021 (has links)
This master thesis stems from the program of Industrial Design Engineering at Luleå University of Technology and was conducted during the spring semester of 2021. The thesis was made incollaboration with Boliden Mines. Boliden Mines is a part of the metal company Boliden Minerals AB. Though the Swedish mining industry has come a long way from what the mining work looked like 40years ago, the climate goals of the government and increasing competition from low wage countries rises the demands for sustainability and productivity. Adjustments to live up to these demands will require implementation of innovative new technology and digital tools, which makes the implementation process very important. The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the miners’ experiences and attitudes toward newtechnology and digitalization in Boliden’s Swedish mines to identify factors of success anddevelopment areas in the implementation process. The data collection was made through 21 semi-structured interviews that were held via MicrosoftTeams or via phone. Interview topics was implementation of tablets, new systems for risk assessmentand remote-controlled and semi-autonomous machines. The results of the interviews were analyzedand thematized into three main themes: Implementation process, Ways of working and Trust in thetechnology. The implementation process showed that miners and supervisors feel like there is an urgency to startthe implementation projects, but that the end becomes unclear. Introductions and education in the newsystems are mostly satisfactory. There is no external communication from the projects so very fewhave knowledge about an implementation that the miner or interviewees are not involved in. A few miners get to participate in these projects which is seen as satisfactory by the interviewees. The waysof working are not being adjusted to the new prerequisites that the technology brings. This shows inlacking maintenance and not having the required infrastructure in place before implementation ofmachines. The workers thinks that the work environment has been immensely improved which isshowing in both physical and social aspects of the work and is very appreciated by the miners. Thereis also a lack of trust in the technology among the miners. This is partly grounded in fear of loosing the “touch”, which is the craftmanship knowledge of the mining work. Some of the sceptisism towards technology also stems from experiences with other projects that did not deliver the quality that was expected. Boliden’s factors of success are participation, work environment, and introductions and education. They are good at involving the end users in the implementation and the improvements of the work environment are valuable. They also provide good introductions and education for their employees. Development areas are that Boliden need to communicate externally about the projects. This is needed because they must investigate the beginnings and ends of the project to find out the cause for why theydo not feel properly finished. Though the education is good, Boliden should adjust the level of which it is held. Today it is assumed that the knowledge and interest is quite high, but this leaves the olderand uninterested workers behind. Lastly, Boliden should review their working methods with andaround the technology implemented to make sure they get the most out of their investments.

Creating Shared Value in the Insurance Industry : A case study of factors influencing Shared Value opportunities in the Swedish insurance industry

Carlsson, Simon, Hallén, Herman January 2020 (has links)
The interest and demand of sustainable actions have alongside with societal development increased over time. It has become crucial for companies in today’s society to show responsibility for the footprints they leave behind as a consequence of operating. A possible course of action could be the implementation of Creating Shared Value – CSV, which encompasses undertakings that result in value creation for both the company itself, and the local environment in which the company operates. Even though companies are expected to contribute to societal issues, there are still no blueprints declaring how to satisfy societal needs, and the challenges accompanied with it. CSV aims to tackle the distances between societal and business goals, however, despite CSV’s acknowledgement in academia, the concept is often criticized for being insufficient in practice. This has led to businesses trying to apply a CSV approach while still undertaking Corporate Social Responsibility – CSR related activities. The mixture of these concepts has made it difficult to explore what factors that affect the process of capturing Shared Value opportunities. This research investigates what factors that influence the process of capturing Shared Value in the Swedish insurance industry. The findings derived from this single company case study suggests that depending on what managerial decision-making approach used in a company affects the rate of success in terms of Creating Shared Value. An unclear communication plan, combined with the continuous confusion between the concepts, seems to increase the uncertainness of why and how different decisions are taken, hindering the process of CSV as well as the understanding of how Shared Value is created. A variety of factors were identified, where three main factors were considered to play a key role in, not only the capturing of Shared Value opportunities but the entire implementation process of the concept. Based on these factors, a model was established, showing how these main factors obstructs the realization of Shared Value opportunities.

A Cross-Sectional Technology Acceptance Study of an AI CAD System in a Breast Screening Unit

Kloub, Maha, Gerigoorian, Annika January 2021 (has links)
In January 2021, one of the first large-scale implementations of an artificial intelligent computer-aided detection system (AI CAD) for detecting breast cancer was implemented at Capio S:t Göran hospital in Stockholm. AI CAD for detecting breast cancer is promising, however, it can only be a successful implementation if it is accepted by the end-users. This study examines and evaluates factors critical to the acceptance of the AI CAD, prior to the radiology professionals using it by applying the third version of the Technology Acceptance Model, that is TAM3. A questionnaire was designed and distributed accordingly to 28 professionals at the hospital’s breast screening unit. The quantitative data collected were further analyzed using the statistical tool SPSS. The empirical findings concluded that the intention to use the AI CAD was influenced directly by the perceived usefulness and indirectly by image, job relevance, and perceived ease of use. In addition, the association between subjective norm and image was shown to be significant. This study further revealed two new associations, contrary to what TAM3 postulates, the first one being between image and behavioral intention and the second one being between job relevance and behavioral intention. Organizational support, system-related activities, and information and communication are interventions suggested based on the findings in this study, in which the breast screening unit at S:t Göran should tap into to enhance the acceptance of the AI CAD system.

I väntan på "huret" : En kvalitativ studie om konstruktionen av barns delaktighet inom ekonomiskt bistånd / Waiting for the "how" : A qualitative study about the construction of the child's participation in financial aid

Sundqvist, Ebba, Svensson Sundkvist, Lina January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine how the Convention on the Rights of the Child [CRC] as a new law is perceived in financial aid. Furthermore, the study aimed to examine how the employees in financial aid perceive their work with the participation of children since the CRC became law. The study has all throughout been analysed with the perspective of social constructivism.   Six social workers with different roles in financial aid were interviewed. The gathered material was then analysed with content analysis. Through the content analysis, three categories developed: how “participation” is constructed; the construction of the perspective of the child and “the best interest of the child”; perception of the implementation process of article 12. The material was then analysed with the perspective of social constructivism and with the Lundy model. The results indicate that the social workers find it hard to implement article 12 in financial aid. The social workers also seem to have different constructions for the word “participation”.
