A. Paulistano tour to Europe (in 1925), and the first World Cups, occasions that mobilized national sporting life. The appreciation of these facts contribute to a broader reflection about the own move of São Paulo's elites against the neighbors of the capital of the Republic in a dispute over the cultural vanguard position of the nation, passing it can be even better apprehended from look that relationship of the sports press of Sao Paulo with soccer / Este trabalho constitui-se em uma análise do regionalismo paulista nas páginas esportivas nos primeiros anos do futebol brasileiro, a partir do estudo das primeiras partidas interestaduais que opunham São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro e da participação brasileira em episódios futebolísticos internacionais de grande vulto, tais como o Campeonato Sul-Americano de 1919 (disputado no Rio de Janeiro), a Excursão do C. A. Paulistano à Europa (no ano de 1925), e as primeiras Copas do Mundo, ocasiões que mobilizaram a vida esportiva nacional. A apreciação de tais fatos contribui para uma reflexão mais ampla sobre a própria investida das elites de São Paulo contra os vizinhos da capital da República, em uma disputa pela posição de vanguarda cultural da nação, transcurso que pode ser ainda mais bem apreendido a partir do olhar sobre a relação da imprensa esportiva de São Paulo com o futebol

O objetivo deste documento é apresentar os artigos que compõem a tese, cuja abordagem temática circunscreve-se sobre as relações de gênero na imprensa esportiva. Em nível de organização, sentimo-nos à vontade para dividirmos esta tese em dois blocos: o de BASE e o de APROFUNDAMENTO. O Bloco base é composto pelos artigos "Os estudos de gênero e masculinidade e seus reflexos para a Educação Física" e "O olhar da imprensa sobre o vôlei feminino: quando a sombra se destaca". O Primeiro versa sobre uma reflexão sobre as identidades e os desdobramentos das masculinidades para a área da Educação Física e esportes. Nessa empreitada, pudemos inferir que os estudos sobre as temáticas Gênero e Masculinidades apontam-nos para um terreno fecundo e promissor no que diz respeito à contemporaneidade e a abrangência teórica no universo da ciência com a qual esta área de saber dialoga. Destarte, somos levados a inferir que os esportes, ao que tudo indica, vem atuando como legitimadora e reprodutora de uma ideologia hegemônica, sexista, patriarcal e machista. O segundo artigo, abordamos a história da inserção e da permanência das mulheres no universo dos esportes, utilizando a técnica da análise de imagens. Verificamos que a imprensa esportiva ainda carreia a imagem das mulheres atletas mantendo padrões ainda subordinados a uma hegemonia masculina que legisla sobre o que se quer ver. Já no segundo bloco, é composto pelos estudos "Jogos Olímpicos de Londres 2012: brasileiros e brasileiras em foco" e "Revelações dos fotógrafos esportivos brasileiros sobre relações de gênero". No primeiro estudo, ao analisarmos as imagens publicadas em jornais no período olímpico de 2012, percebemos que é evidente a quantidade e dimensão superior das imagens masculinas frente às femininas. Também, nas poucas vezes em que o homem é retratado denotando emotividade, choro ou decepção, as imagens divulgadas são de dimensões médias ou pequenas. E nas raras vezes em que a mulher é registrada durante a execução de gestos técnicos, vale-se do mesmo ocorrido no masculino: fotos médias ou pequenas e restritas ao interior do jornal. No artigo seguinte desse bloco, constatamos que o discurso dos fotógrafos para clicar atletas seguem as premissas: focam o corpo feminino belo e sensual em detrimento da representação de seu movimento no esporte, o que explica a apresentação de conotação sexual; sua performance é relegada a segundo plano. Já o corpo masculino, quando exposto sugerindo algum tipo de apelo, é representado de forma diferenciada, não vexatória ou pejorativa e sempre em posição de altivez. Verificamos que o publicado nos jornais não condiz com os discursos proferidos pelos entrevistados, uma vez que em diversos momentos afirmaram não haver discrepâncias quanto ao registro do masculino e do feminino. Nas Considerações finais, elencamos as principais impressões da composição da obra. Nesse item, pudemos confirmar que atletas masculinos e femininos têm tratamentos diferenciados e desiguais nos discursos e nas imagens exibidas pela imprensa esportiva. / The objective of this document is to present the articles that form this thesis, which has a thematic approach based on gender relations in sports press. On an organizational level, this thesis can be divided into two blocks, the basic information and the details. The basic information block contains two articles: "The studies of gender and masculinity and the consequences for Physical Education" and "The eye of the press on female volleyball: when the shadows call attention to themselves". The first is on identities and the effects of masculinity on the Physical Education and Sports area. In the context of this article, it is possible to infer that studies about "gender" and "masculinity" themes are fertile and promising terrain regarding the contemporaneity and theory in the scientific universe that is touched by this area of knowledge. As such, one can infer that sports have been legitimizing and reproducing an hegemonic ideology that is sexist, male chauvinist and patriarchal. In the second article, the history of female insertion and permanence in the world of sports was analyzed through an image analysis technique. The investigation found that the image of female athletes is still being divulged by the sporting press under a male hegemony, that "legislates" about what it wants to see. The second block of articles is composed by two other articles, as follows: "London 2012 Olympic Games: male and female Brazilians in focus." and "Revelations of Brazilian sporting photographers about gender relations.". In the first study, through the analysis of female athlete images published in newspapers during the Olympic Games, it was determined that there was a greater number of male athlete images and that when men were depicted in a moment of weakness, the image was smaller, whereas women, when shown executing technical gestures, were also relegated to smaller spaces than men in the same situation. In the second article of this block, results show that sports photographers have a specific set of considerations when photographing athletes: when depicting female athletes, they focus on beautiful and sensual female bodies, with little room for representations of their movements in sport, so there is a primarily sexual connotation and their sports performance is relegated to the background. Male athletes, however, when represented in any way that may suggest appeal, are shown differently, in a form that is neither pejorative nor vexing, and always in a manner that conveys pride. The investigation determined that what is published in the newspapers is different from what the photographers stated, considering that many times they affirmed that there was no difference between male and female athletes in sports photography. In the "Final Considerations" section, all of the main impressions brought on by the investigation were recorded. As it is, male and female athletes are treated differently and unequally in the discourse and images exhibited by the sporting press.

It is about an emblematic moment for perceiving football as a social and symbolic place of conservation and, at the same time, of posing questions about the order in force, within a dictatorial context. From the dealing with the huge sports newspaper, in the capital cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), it was observed the repercussion of that sports episode, from north to south, spilling over into the national life. In this happening, football arises not only as an element capable of congregating, among the same supporters, individuals from the most varied social cultural profiles, but also as a quarreling space, with disagreements and rivalries, which are found in the construction base of the national feeling / Esta Dissertação tem por finalidade a análise da participação brasileira na Copa do Mundo de futebol, disputada em junho de 1938, na França, um empreendimento que assumiu diferentes sentidos para o Estado Novo, a imprensa esportiva e os torcedores. Trata-se de um momento emblemático para a percepção do futebol como lugar social e simbólico de conservação e, ao mesmo tempo, de questionamento da ordem vigente, diante de um contexto ditatorial. A partir do trato com os jornais esportivos de grande vulto, nas capitais paulista e carioca da época, observou-se a repercussão daquele episódio esportivo de norte a sul do país, contagiando a vida nacional. O futebol emerge, nesse acontecimento, não só como elemento capaz de congregar na mesma torcida - indivíduos dos mais diferentes perfis sócio-culturais, mas também como espaço de conflitos, desavenças e rivalidades, que se encontram na base da edificação do sentimento nacional

Os clubes de futebol operários em Porto Alegre, na primeira metade do século XX, são o objeto deste trabalho. Procura-se aqui identificar relações de dominação e resistência manifestas, através de uma forma específica de organização e de um espaço determinado de sociabilidade, durante o tempo livre destes trabalhadores, buscando compreender o futebol como campo de disputa entre operários e industriais, fora das fábricas, como espaço para formação de laços de solidariedade e identidade ou de subordinação e disciplinamento. Através da análise da imprensa, incluindo a esportiva e operária, demonstra-se como este processo está inserido dentro de um discurso moderno, que inclui o culto ao físico, o disciplinamento e higienização que, ao mesmo tempo, geram novos espaços urbanos e a organização de agremiações como novas formas de sociabilidade, convergindo em grandes eventos sociais de afirmação desta modernidade. Trata-se de uma tensão permanente entre industriais, igreja, Estado e operários, pelo controle do espaço e das relações extra-fabris, no qual esse discurso é apropriado e re-significado pelos operários como forma de organização, acesso ao tempo livre e construção de laços de identidade e solidariedade, ao mesmo tempo em que contribui para a popularização deste esporte. / The workers' football teams in Porto Alegre, in the first half of the 20th century, are the subject of this work. We seek here to identify relations of manifest domination and resistance, through an especific form of organization and a determined space of sociability, during the free time of these workers, seeking to understand football as a place of dispute between workers and industrialists, outside of the factories; as a space for the formation of bonds solidarity and identity or subordination and disciplining. Through analysis of the press, including sport's and workers' press, it is shown how this process is housed within a modern discourse, which includes the cult of the body, disciplining and sanitation, which at the same time generates new urban spaces and the organization of associations as new forms of sociability, converging into large social events of affirmation of that modernity. This is a permanent tension between industrialists, church, State and workers for the control of space and extra-factories relations. Where this discourse is appropriated and re-signified by the workers as a form of organization, access to free time and the building of bonds of solidarity and identity, at the same time that it contributes for the popularization of this sport.

Para atingir os objetivos de pesquisa investiga-se os interesses que a mídia poderia atender em suas narrativas acerca desses jogadores, a partir de conceitos como indústria cultural e sociedade do espetáculo. Também explorase o perfil multifacetário do ídolo futebolístico contemporâneo a partir dos conceitos de mito, herói e celebridade, assim como a relação entre o futebol e a identidade nacional brasileira. Para tanto, realiza-se um estudo de caso sobre o jogador Adriano, a partir das análises de conteúdo e de discurso das reportagens veiculadas pelos jornais Extra e O Globo em diferentes momentos da carreira do atleta. Essa análise revela variações no tratamento dado à Adriano pela imprensa mediante principalmente a oscilações no desempenho esportivo do jogador mas também pela adequação ou não da conduta social e comportamental do atleta às diretrizes de produção de conteúdo desses veículos / This dissertation seeks to understand how is the influence of the media narratives of the sports press in the processes of construction and deconstruction of football idols nowadays. To achieve the research objectives investigates the media concerns that could fit in their narratives about these players, from concepts such as culture industry and the society of spectacle. It also explores the multifaceted profile of contemporary football idol from the concepts of myth, hero and celebrity, as well as the relationship between football and the Brazilian national identity. The study presents a case study on Adriano, from the analysis of content and discourse of articles published in the newspapers Extra and O Globo in different athlete career moments. This analysis reveals variations in the treatment given to Adriano by the press mainly to fluctuations in the sporting performance of the player but also the adequacy or not of social and behavioral conduct of the athlete to the content of these vehicles production guidelines
