Empatie a socio-emoční kompetence u dětí v různých formách náhradní péče / Empathy and socio-emotional competencies among various forms of substitute care

Mlázovská, Barbora January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the level of socio-emotional competencies, the ability of empathy and the prevalence of psychosocial problems amongst children in various forms of substitute care (biological families, institutional care, foster families). The aim of this thesis is to clarify the relations in between the variables and to find possible patterns bound to different kinds of care. The thesis also aims at the effect of the lenght od institutional care and of the strategies of emotional regulation and behaviour in social situations. The sample includes 34 respondents. The data were collected from the children themselves (IDS), from caregivers (EQ-C, SDQ) and from the file documentation (anamnestic questionaire). The results show a significant correlation between the variables. The effect of length of stay in institutional care has not been proven. As for comparisons across different forms of care, differences in empathy rates and the occurrence of psychosocial problems have emerged, but not at the level of socio-emotional skills. The subsequent analysis of strategies of emotional regulation and social behavior has pointed to an interesting tendency regarding the socio-emotional functioning of children in substitute care. My diploma thesis will serve as a pilot study on the upcoming research...

“MAN BEHÖVER VARA EN MÄNNISKOKÄNNARE…” : - EN STUDIE OM RELATIONER MELLAN PERSONAL OCH UNGDOM PÅ SIS / “YOU NEED TO BE A GOOD JUDGE OF CHARACTER…” : - A STUDY ON RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STAFF AND YOUTH AT SIS

Dibrani, Ekrem, Hodzic, Armin January 2022 (has links)
For several years, Swedish media have been lined with debates about care at the state department board where treatment assistants abuse power and have not given young people the care needed to be motivated towards a better lifestyle. This study is based on studying the relationships between treatment assistants and young people who have compulsory care according to § 3 LVU. The study also focuses on young people who have NPF diagnoses and difficulties in creating relationships. The survey results in the following issues; How do treatment assistants experience relationships with users at the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care? and What factors affect the relationship between users with disabilities and treatment assistants? The survey was conducted with a qualitative approach where we conducted semi-structured interviews with respondents who worked as treatment assistants at the State Department Board. The result showed that creating relationships on sis is somewhat complicated and requires different factors for a relationship to work. The results showed that personality is a central factor in the work, but also previous knowledge and experience at work, especially in departments where young people have a disability. Furthermore, results have also shown that staff must show trust and act as role models for young people to be motivated to create relationships and succeed in their treatment.

A study of runaways from six residential treatment agencies

Colbath, Loris, Krugel Graf, Carolyn, McKinnon, Carol, NewComb, Jean 01 January 1975 (has links)
The purposes of this study were: (1) to examine a select sample of both runaways and nonrunaways at six Oregon residential treatment facilities; (2) to determine the amount and type of preplacement visitation and counseling done within these agencies; (3) to determine the effect preplacement visitation and counseling has upon the studied sample of runaways and nonrunaways in decreasing or controlling the number of runs from the agencies involved; and (4) to determine significant characteristics between runaway and nonrunaway populations. Testing materials included a two-part questionnaire, part of which was developed with girls from one of the participating agencies. Running, which today is looked upon as a status offense, is costly in the effect it has upon the mind and emotions of the young runners, as well as the effect it has upon the budgets of the agencies involved. Running from a residential treatment program is also disruptive to the treatment plan which has been set up for that particular youth. The work which has been done to date in this area is sketchy and incomplete. It does not clearly tell us whether or not preplacement counseling actually reduces the desire to run and helps to create a more comfortable atmosphere for the teen-ager. Our sample consisted of both runners and a random sample of nonrunners from the participating agencies for the month of October.

Residential child care manpower and training needs

Cho, Song K. 01 January 1971 (has links)
National movement and local demands indicated the necessity of training programs for child care workers (herein referred to as CCW's) in Oregon. In 1966, the "First National Survey of Children's Residential Institution" was done by Pappenforst & Kilpatrick. This survey showed that the primary concern of directors of children's institution was the quality of CCW's. A national conference was held in Cleveland in 1967 to study the characteristics essential to excellent performance and make recommendations for training programs of CCW's in residential treatment for children. There have been numerous expressions of the demands for training programs in Oregon by directors of agenciesas well as the Oregon Association of Child Care Workers. (herein referred to as OACCW). The objective of this research was to study residential child care in Oregon as a service delivery system, and to study the manpower element of the system in relation to the development of a feasible training program for CCW's serving now or in the future in various private or public residential child care agencies in Oregon.

Resilience u seniorů v Domově pro zrakově postižené - Palata / Resilience in the elderly in the Institute for visually impaired "Palata"

Bozděchová, Kristýna January 2021 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to understand and map how elderly people cope with adversity that this stage of life unavoidably brings with it. The first part of the thesis - the theoretical background, is based on literary sources that try to define concepts like "resilience", "old age", "institutional care for the elderly" and "visual disorders". The empirical data has been obtained through semi-structured deep interviews with four selected clients of the Retirement home för visually impaired people "Palata". The evaluation of the data has been done thanks to the qualitative approach of the interpretative fenomenological analysis that helps us comprehend how a person creates meaning of one's lived experience and thus understand the individual point of view on subjective experiences. The interviews have enabled us to define the categories that have appeared most frequently and represent a significant source of mental resilience - family, social interactions, display of gratitude towards staff, responsibility/external support, acceptance/satisfaction, moral values, leisure activities, accentuation of small life events and integrity. These categories have been described in more detail based on specialized literature. As a conclusion we have summarized the major findings from our interviews and literary...

“Vi räddar liv och vi behövs. Jag kan inte se vilket annat alternativ det finns för de här ungdomarna." : En kvalitativ studie om Statens institutionsstyrelse ur ett personalperspektiv / "We save lives and we are needed. I can't see any other alternative for these youths" : A qualitative study on the National Board Of Institutional Care from a staff perspective

Olsson, Elina, Ruiz Nilsson, Amanda, Svefors, Josefin January 2023 (has links)
A placement in the special youth homes operated by the National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) occurs in situations where voluntary care is not sufficient for the youth and compulsory care is seen as the only alternative. SiS has been subject to criticism for many years regarding the special youth homes and continues to show serious shortcomings and deficiencies. The aim of this study is to examine how the compulsory care functions in SiS special youth homes in Sweden from a staff perspective, aiming to complement existing knowledge. The collected data is based on twelve semi-structured interviews with both active and non-active personnel at different levels within SiS. By identifying factors that staff perceive as impacting their ability to execute their work, three proposed actions have been generated based on existing research. These proposals address the need for improved communication, competence, and consistency within the organization. Therefore, the study's recommendations aim to contribute towards enhancing SiS and the understanding regarding the firsthand experience of working within the organization.
