The technological ground used to increase the GPU hardware capacity was Geforce 9600 GT along with the PhysX chip created to make games more realistic. The software simulates the three-dimensional carbide structure to the shape of a cubic box where tungsten carbide (WC) are modeled as triangular prisms and truncated triangular prisms. The program was proven effective regarding checking testes, ranging from calculations of parameter measures such as the capacity to increase the number of particles simulated dynamically. It was possible to make an investigation of both the mean parameters and distributions stereological parameters used to characterize the carbide structure through cutting plans. Grounded on the cutting plans concerning the analyzed structures, we have investigated the linear intercepts, the intercepts to the area, and the perimeter section of the intercepted grains as well as the binder phase to the structure by calculating the mean value and distribution of the free path. As literature shows almost consensually that the distribution of the linear intercepts is lognormal, this suggests that the grain distribution is also lognormal. Thus, a routine was developed regarding the program which made possible a more detailed research on this issue. We have observed that it is possible, under certain values for the parameters which define the shape and size of the Prismatic grain to find out the distribution to the linear intercepts that approach the lognormal shape. Regarding a number of developed simulations, we have observed that the distribution curves of the linear and area intercepts as well as the perimeter section are consistent with studies on static computer simulation to these parameters.

Eimi Arikawa 22 August 2016 (has links)
The forest is built by patches of different ages, whose individuals have similar structure and approximate age , forming a forest mosaic, reporting standard idea and process. Therefore the set of trees with the same pattern structure that can be defined and describable are called natural ecounits or tree clusters. To survey natural forest is a challenge because of the diversity and complexity of the natural system. The Line Interception Sampling Method is a versatile method where lines are thrown in the area and all intercepted element is sampled. The estimates are based on the probability that the object is intercepted, and any trees attribute can be used as a random variable. In this study the natural tree clusters were sampled, and the variables of interest were: diameter at breast height (DBH), number of individuals, basal area and volume. First it was determined the identification characteristics of the tree clusters, that were mainly based on elements, as density of trees, understory density, herbaceous and woody vines. These characteristics were evaluated together. In E. E. Caetetus, where the forest is more conserved, identification was easy, and the characteristics of the standards were followed, but in Mombuca identification was difficult probably due to the constant and intense anthropogenic disturbances that have no standard. So, in the most degraded areas it is necessary to identify other characteristics that may assist in the description of the types of tree clusters. 6 were distance measures were taken from the tree cluster center to its limit, with 60° between them, in order to obtain its shape and dimensions. All trees in this hexagon had their DAP measured. At tree cluster level, the analysis of average DAP, maximum DAP indicate conservation of ecological processes in E. E. Caetetus, but in Mombuca the pattern is different. There is DAP average disorder among the tree clusters, according to the type of trees that were classified, and therefore to the successional stage it is in, and there is discontinuity of the diametric distribution. These data can be found as indication of degradation or low conservation of forest studied. The estimator used was the average diameter of the tree cluster, from which it was estimated the number of individuals, basal area and volume per hectare. The values were close to other work in the same type of vegetation and the data of E. E. Caetetus was compared with the values of the census conducted in permanent plots, which were close. Because of this work was a pilot sampling to test the method, the number of sampling units was low, compromising the analysis, so for the next studies it is already recommended that the sampling intensity is greater. The effectiveness of data gathering in the field, and the use of sampling line interception made it possible to get some results suggesting that the method is promising and is suitable for natural forest surveys. It is necessary to refine the method, and calibration in other physiognomies so that the estimates would be more accurate.

Securing LBO VoLTE roaming with multiple Escrow Agents : A dynamic approach to distribute cryptographic keys to Escrow Agents / Ett tillvägagångssätt att säkra LBO VoLTE roaming med flera "Escrow Agents"

Eneroth, Nathanael January 2018 (has links)
The fourth generation cellular mobile broadband, Long-Term Evolution (LTE), provides high speed Internet via Internet Protocol (IP). Today’s wireless infrastructure paves the way to a connected society where high speed Internet is seamlessly available at all times for anyone to use. To achieve this, a mobile service subscriber can no longer be bound to a single network provided by a single operator. Thus, roaming constitutes a key pillar in shaping the connected society Local Breakout (LBO) Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) roaming enables a mobile service subscriber to breakout from its home network, and to use network services in a visited network. LBO requires control signalling and user data to be routed over several Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMNs), thus making mobile service subscriber’s the subject of Lawful Intercept (LI) across multiple networks. This thesis project investigates the possibility of using Multimedia Internet KEYing (MIKEY) and Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) to encrypt the payload of VoLTE media packets. More specifically, a Law Enforcement Monitoring Provider (LEMP) is designed, implemented, and evaluated. LEMP is deployed within a cell phone and serves to distribute cryptographic key shares to Trusted Third Parties (TTPs), i.e. multiple escrow agents, entrusted to store these cryptographic key shares. The result preserves the requirements for LI despite the fact that there may be multiple network operators involved. Moreover, the experiments show that the distribution time depends primarily on network latency rather than the time required to split the cryptographic key in chunks; hence the approach is usable in practice.

With this tool, the ability of physical interaction between simulated objects is enlarged, allowing to simulate a porous structure, for example, reservoir rocks and structures with high density. The initial procedure for developing the simulation is the construction of porous cubic structure consisting of spheres with a single size and with varying sizes. In addition, structures can also be simulated with various volume fractions. The results presented are divided into two parts: first, the ball shall be deemed as solid grains, ie the matrix phase represents the porosity, the second, the spheres are considered as pores. In this case the matrix phase represents the solid phase. The simulations in both cases are the same, but the simulated structures are intrinsically different. To validate the results presented by the program, simulations were performed by varying the amount of grain, the grain size distribution and void fraction in the structure. All results showed statistically reliable and consistent with those presented in the literature. The mean values and distributions of stereological parameters measured, such as intercept linear section of perimeter area, sectional area and mean free path are in agreement with the results obtained in the literature for the structures simulated. The results may help the understanding of real structures. Neste caso a fase matriz representa a fase s?lida. Determining Appropriate Sample Sizes and Their Effects on Key Parameters in Longitudinal Three-Level Models

January 2016 (has links)
abstract: Through a two study simulation design with different design conditions (sample size at level 1 (L1) was set to 3, level 2 (L2) sample size ranged from 10 to 75, level 3 (L3) sample size ranged from 30 to 150, intraclass correlation (ICC) ranging from 0.10 to 0.50, model complexity ranging from one predictor to three predictors), this study intends to provide general guidelines about adequate sample sizes at three levels under varying ICC conditions for a viable three level HLM analysis (e.g., reasonably unbiased and accurate parameter estimates). In this study, the data generating parameters for the were obtained using a large-scale longitudinal data set from North Carolina, provided by the National Center on Assessment and Accountability for Special Education (NCAASE). I discuss ranges of sample sizes that are inadequate or adequate for convergence, absolute bias, relative bias, root mean squared error (RMSE), and coverage of individual parameter estimates. The current study, with the help of a detailed two-part simulation design for various sample sizes, model complexity and ICCs, provides various options of adequate sample sizes under different conditions. This study emphasizes that adequate sample sizes at either L1, L2, and L3 can be adjusted according to different interests in parameter estimates, different ranges of acceptable absolute bias, relative bias, root mean squared error, and coverage. Under different model complexity and varying ICC conditions, this study aims to help researchers identify L1, L2, and L3 sample size or both as the source of variation in absolute bias, relative bias, RMSE, or coverage proportions for a certain parameter estimate. This assists researchers in making better decisions for selecting adequate sample sizes in a three-level HLM analysis. A limitation of the study was the use of only a single distribution for the dependent and explanatory variables, different types of distributions and their effects might result in different sample size recommendations. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Educational Psychology 2016

Effect of the voltage dependency of the device-level gate-source capacitance in the linearity of a common-gate amplifier

Eduardo A. Garcia (5929682) 19 July 2022 (has links)
<p>Most work on amplifier linearity has focused on the transconductance (gm) linearity, but there is increasing evidence that the voltage-dependence of the gate-source capacitance (Cgs) plays an important role in the linearity of emerging devices. This work addresses the capacitance contribution by incorporating the nonlinearities attributed to the voltage dependency of Cgs of a general FET on a circuit-level Cg amplifier model.</p> <p>An amplifier model including a voltage-dependent Cgs, and a voltage-dependent gm is studied using harmonic analysis and Volterra series. A closed form expression for the  third-order intercept point (IP3) of the amplifier, which depends on the nonlinear coefficients of Cgs, is obtained. A simple design rule, and a formula for the reduction of the IP3 due to the voltage-dependent Cgs are also presented. </p> <p>As application examples, the linearity of an amplifier based on a specific device is analyzed for two cases by extracting the nonlinear circuit parameters of the device. First for an analytic model of a bulk mosfet. Second for a one-dimensional, ballistic, coaxially gated Si nanowire. For low frequencies of design, the distortion introduced by gm is predominant, but for high frequencies it is obscured by the distortion coming from Cgs.</p> <p>We conclude that taking into account the voltage-dependence of Cgs is crucial when predicting the linearity behavior of a Cg amplifier, either designed for high-frequency operation, or based on a device operating near the quantum capacitance limit. </p>

Adaptive Suppression of Interfering Signals in Communication Systems

Pelteku, Altin E. 21 April 2013 (has links)
The growth in the number of wireless devices and applications underscores the need for characterizing and mitigating interference induced problems such as distortion and blocking. A typical interference scenario involves the detection of a small amplitude signal of interest (SOI) in the presence of a large amplitude interfering signal; it is desirable to attenuate the interfering signal while preserving the integrity of SOI and an appropriate dynamic range. If the frequency of the interfering signal varies or is unknown, an adaptive notch function must be applied in order to maintain adequate attenuation. This work explores the performance space of a phase cancellation technique used in implementing the desired notch function for communication systems in the 1-3 GHz frequency range. A system level model constructed with MATLAB and related simulation results assist in building the theoretical foundation for setting performance bounds on the implemented solution and deriving hardware specifications for the RF notch subsystem devices. Simulations and measurements are presented for a Low Noise Amplifer (LNA), voltage variable attenuators, bandpass filters and phase shifters. Ultimately, full system tests provide a measure of merit for this work as well as invaluable lessons learned. The emphasis of this project is the on-wafer LNA measurements, dependence of IC system performance on mismatches and overall system performance tests. Where possible, predictions are plotted alongside measured data. The reasonable match between the two validates system and component models and more than compensates for the painstaking modeling efforts. Most importantly, using the signal to interferer ratio (SIR) as a figure of merit, experimental results demonstrate up to 58 dB of SIR improvement. This number represents a remarkable advancement in interference rejection at RF or microwave frequencies.
