Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att möta kvinnor som utsätts för våld i nära relation / Nurses' experiences of meeting women who are exposed to intimate partner violence

Ulander, Maja, Westin, Sanna January 2024 (has links)
Analysen gjordes enligt Fribergs femstegsmodell.

I think it has actually reached the point where we should be ashamed if we are evaluated” : Swedish social service & women with intellectual diability that experience violence

Jönsson, Amanda, Karlström, Yrsa January 2024 (has links)
This study aims to research the Swedish social Services work concerning women with intellectual disabilities that experience intimate partner violence. Six semi- structured interviews with social service workers, that works with intimate partner violence, has been conducted and is the base for the results. The results show that the ability to offer suitable help for these women differs depending on the municipality. The study also shows that a lot of the social service workers do not feel that they have the suitable competence and qualifications to work with women with intellectual disabilities that has experienced intimate partner violence. Some social service workers have found approaches to adapt meetings by using resources in the networks of these women. The results also shows that the social service workers point out areas of the social services that are flawed when it comes to women with intellectual disabilities that experience violence. This study shows that women with intellectual disabilities that have experiences of intimate partner violence does not have the same opportunities to get appropriate help from the social services as women without intellectual disabilities does. It also becomes apparent that the Swedish social services have areas that are flawed and need to be developed.

Den funktionsnedsatta kvinnans utsatthet ur en våldskontext : Den dubbla utsattheten: Att förstå och bekämpa våld mot funktionsnedsatta kvinnor / The vulnerability of disabled women in the context of violence : The Double Vulnerability: Understanding and Combating Violence against Disabled Women

Hammar, Philip, Öhlin, Sanna January 2024 (has links)
In this literature study, the topic of domestic violence against women with disabilities have been highlighted. The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze how the domestic violence against women with disabilities takes form and what challenges and needs that have been expressed by the concerned women. The way of explaining and highlighting this matter has gone through the process of acquiring empirical knowledge from different databases that are applicable to the subject. Theories that have been applied to this scientific paper are empowerment and the process of normalization. The conclusions after the findings are that the women are in an extra vulnerable position linked to their disability, and also that there is a gap of knowledge and resources within the area. The findings also show that the services available for these women do not fulfill their needs and therefore do not help the women in the most efficient way possible.

“It’s us volunteer together who are receiving and giving support which will be able to make changes” : A qualitative study of female youth shelter volunteers given and received support in working with intimate partner violence

Reinwalds, Johanna January 2024 (has links)
Intimate partner violence is a global health issue to women’s rights and women can be victims of this violence at an early age. Literature shows that there needs to be a further understanding of the people who support these young women. This article presents a qualitative study where the aim of the study was to explore female youth shelter volunteers’ perspective of the support, they give to victims of intimate partner violence and the support they themselves receive in this role. To investigate this, 12 volunteers from various female youth shelters in Sweden took part in digital semi structured interviews. The material was coded through a thematic analysis where three main themes was displayed. The first theme was (1): Giving support by acknowledging the victim. The second (2) was: Drawing support from social connections with other volunteers. The third (3) theme were: The relation between giving and receiving support is intertwined. These themes included various subthemes. This study can be useful in educating and providing knowledge of the circumstances of female youth shelter volunteers views of the support they provide and themselves see as importance of access to. Findings may be beneficial to authorities, policy makers, volunteering organizations and public health.

Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att möta kvinnliga patienter utsatta för våld i nära relation : en litteraturöversikt / Nurses' Experiences in Meeting Female Patients Exposed to Intimate Partner Violence : a Literature Review

Andersson, Lovisa, Bladlund, Kajsa January 2024 (has links)
Background Intimate partner violence is described as a violent act where the perpetrator and the victim are in a partner relationship. 35% of all women globally have been or are subjected to intimate partner violence. These women's first contact in health care is often nurses, which means that nurses must have the competence to be able to identify and care for patients who are subjected to intimate partner violence. Aim To describe nurses’ experiences of meeting female patients exposed to intimate partner violence. Method This study is based on a structured literature review incorporating the methodology used in systematic reviews. The databases used are CINAHL and PubMed. The result was based on 11 relevant articles. Results The main categories identified were the challenge of the meeting, which has the subcategories dare to ask and emotional reactions. The second main category describes the prerequisites for a better encounter and has the subcategories obstacles and needs and improvement work. Conclusions The overview revealed that nurses are emotionally affected by the encounter and may feel frustrated about not being able to provide female patients with all the support they need. Nurses need coping strategies when encountering female patients who have experienced violence, and support from the workplace facilitates this. There is also a lack of education in this area, making it difficult for nurses to respond appropriately in these situations.

Grenholm, Ebba January 2024 (has links)
Violence in intimate relationships is a major societal problem. The violence, in turn, increases the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder and, with it, deterioration in episodic memory. Memory-supporting interrogation techniques can make it easier for victims of violence to remember in an interrogation interview. This paper aims to investigate how police officers deal with the memory aspect of intimate partner violence victims and how to use memory-enhancing interrogation techniques to ensure reliable testimony. The essay's purpose was answered using a mixed methods design. Three qualitative interviews were carried out as well as a quantitative survey which was answered by twenty-five employees within the Police Authority with experience in questioning plaintiffs of domestic violence. The results of the survey showed that the PEACE model, which is a memory-supporting questioning technique, was used by the majority of the professionals. It emerged in both the interviews and the survey that an important aspect is getting the plaintiff to participate, which it was believed could be influenced by, among other things, fear of the perpetrator and the consequences of the violence. Something that emerged in the interviews was that when violence becomes an everyday problem, it is difficult to sort out individual events from memory. Another aspect that was considered to be able to influence the claimant's statement was the normalization process, which can mean that the claimant does not perceive the seriousness of the violence and therefore does not consider it important to tell. The essay shows that there are specific difficulties linked to the interrogation situation with people exposed to violence in a close relationship, but that interrogators possess good techniques to facilitate memory recall. This specific subject area is relatively unexplored. Future studies could focus on these issues with a larger sample to better represent the population.

Att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att möta kvinnor utsatta för våld i nära relationer : En litteraturöversikt / To describe nurse’s experiences of meeting women exposed to intimate partner violence : A literature review

Ackfeldt Wall, Isabelle, Axelsson, Fanny January 2024 (has links)
Background Intimate partner violence is a global and serious problem and about a quarter of the world’s women over the age of 15 have at some point been exposed physically and/or psychologically by a male partner. The consequences of the violence can manifest themselves in both physical and psychological symptoms. The nurse should possess knowledge of intimate partner violence to pay attention to the signs and to offer adequate care. Aim To describe nurses’ experiences of meeting women exposed to intimate partner violence. Method The design of this literature review is a structured literature study with elements of the methodology used in systematic reviews and is based on 12 scientific articles from the PubMed and CINAHL databases that were published between 2015-2023. The dataanalysis is carried out according to Friberg's five-step analysis for qualitative research. Results The results from the analysis are presented in four main categories with ten associated subcategories.: Talking about the violence, The importance of care and society, Emotional reactions and Knowledge and experience. Conclusions Meeting patients exposed to intimate partner violence is challenging work. A personcentered approach is the basis for handling and identifying women exposed to intimate partner violence. There is a lack of clear guidelines in the workplace and the cooperation between different authorities/institutions is insufficient, as well as societal support for a woman who has been subjected to violence. To increase the knowledge of nurses, more and continuous education is needed.

The battered man : an evaluation of equal justice under the law

Egan, Brenna M. 01 January 2010 (has links)
Within the last few decades, many of the efforts aimed at preventing domestic violence and helping victims have focused on violence against women. In fact, in social and legal venues, domestic violence is often exclusively considered a women's issue. However, domestic violence, particularly intimate partner violence, does not discriminate on any basis, including gender. This research focuses on male victims of domestic violence in order to show that domestic violence is a human issue, not a gender issue. Only when all victims of violent crime are acknowledged and treated fairly can society begin to solve the problem of domestic violence victimization. The intent of this thesis is to explore the incidence of victimization, the legal and societal representations, and legal treatment of male victims of intimate partner violence. Through the analysis of case law and statutes, quantitative statistics, domestic violence resources, popular culture, and anecdotal evidence, this thesis evaluates the treatment of male victims of intimate partner violence in the legal system. Evidence shows that gender bias exists and can affect battered men in numerous ways. Male petitioners seeking protective injunctions, prosecution of their violent partners, and resources, such as treatment, counseling, or shelter, often face discrimination against men. By raising awareness to domestic violence committed against men, this thesis aims to contribute not only to the legal discipline but also to solving the domestic violence epidemic in society-against all people.

An apple a day won't keep the violence away : listening to what pregnant women living in intimate partner violence say about their health

Martin, Debbie F., University of Lethbridge. Faculty of Health Sciences January 2009 (has links)
Researchers have provided evidence that living in intimate partner violence while pregnant negatively impacts the health of both the women and their unborn children. The purpose of this narrative study was twofold, first to gain understanding of the meaning of health as described by pregnant women who lived in intimate partner violence, and second to gain strategies for health care professionals. Six purposefully selected women participated in two interviews. The data were arranged under five themes: loss of body health, loss of mind health, loss of spirit health, coping with loss of body, mind and spirit health, and advice for health care professionals. The results revealed that these women’s health was negatively affected by living in intimate partner violence while pregnant. Universal screening, coalition building, further research, changes in health care policies, and changes in nursing education and practice are needed to properly address this serious health issue. / xi, 153 leaves ; 29 cm

Pomoc obětem partnerského násilí v kontextu zákona o obětech trestných činů / Help for intimate partner violence survivors within the Victim Act context

Pešková, Martina January 2017 (has links)
This Master thesis deals with the subject of aid to women who are victims of Intimate Partner Violence, in the context of the recently passed Victims of Crime Act. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe the basic specifics of intimate partner violence and problems that arise from these specifics for the victims and for the practice of organizations and individuals helping the victims. In the subsequent part the options of aid to and protection of the victims within the criminal proceeding are discussed. The last chapter of the theoretical part covers the legislation context of giving aid to victims, with a special emphasis on the Victims of Crime Act and its possible contribution to solve problems related to this. The empirical part consists of an analysis of qualitative interviews and questionnaires with experts with at least five years of practice in aiding victims of intimate partner violence. The objective of the practical part is to deliver recommendations how to activate victims. The research aims to verify whether the problems of activation of the victims described in both domestic and foreign literature correspond to the practice of experts, what strategies have proved successful in reaction to those problems and in the end to what extent the law on victims can help in this...
