Změna hladiny testosteronu u 16letých chlapců jako důsledek experimentálně vyvolané žárlivostní reakce / Changes in testosterone level in 16-year-old boys in response to experimentally induced jealousy reaction

Enderlová, Jana January 2013 (has links)
Past research suggests association between basal steroid hormone testosterone level and its changes with some individual characteristics (especially some behavioral manifestations of dominance and aggression) and its changes within male-male competition. This relationship is usually (in accordance with evolutionary theory) interpreted as the consequence of different individual prerequisites (or the degree of individual motivation) for high status position including winning a male- male competition. The aim of this study was to test the adequacy of measuring jealousy reaction in adolescent boys by way of changes in salivary testosterone level and finding their associations with some individual characteristics mentioned by researchers. For the purpose of measuring basal testosterone level before starting the experiment and changes in its level following the jealousy stimulus within a competition for a mate which simulated the internet mating and changes in its level after being informed of their failure in this competition, the boys who participated in our study provided three salivary samples (the samples were provided after 15 minutes after the stimuli). For finding associations of basal and mean testosterone level and these hormonal changes with some individual characteristics, the boys filled in...

Pojetí žárlivosti v rámci maskulinity a femininity / The concept of jealousy in terms of masculinity and femininity

Slavíčková, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with the jealousy in the context of masculinity and femininity. The work focuses on jealousy in relationships, which is viewed from a gender and psychological point of view. Main aim of the thesis is to explore the way of constructing jealousy in the context of gender and to find any differences and similarities in such constructs. I am going to fulfill the aim through content analysis of selected lifestyle journals, while some of them are gender-focused on their readers and some are not. The work is divided into two parts, the first, theoretical part deals with the particular definitions and theoretical approaches to jealousy, their description and explanation of the origin of differences in jealousy between men and women. In my own research I use a combination of quantitative and qualitative content analysis of the most widely read magazines in the Czech Republic and therefore I can provide a more comprehensive insight into the topic and gain more comprehensive information about the link between jealousy and gender. I believe that the work will bring better insight into the question of designing jealousy in the context of gender. Key words: gender, masculinity, femininity, psychology, jealousy in romantic relationships

Jealousy And Attachment 2.0: The Role Of Attachment In The Expression And Experience Of Jealousy On Facebook

Cole, Megan 01 January 2010 (has links)
The main objective of this research was to investigate how people use Facebook within the context of their romantic relationships from an attachment theory perspective. In the present study, a convenience sample (n = 179) completed an online survey with questions about Facebook use, attachment style, uncertainty-related behaviors, jealousy, relationship satisfaction and commitment. Results indicate that 1) there is a positive correlation between jealousy and Facebook use; 2) also, there is a positive correlation between jealousy and the time an individual spends viewing their partner's profile; 3) further, jealousy is positively related to uncertainty-reducing behaviors. Taken together, these results support the assertion that there is a downward spiral involving jealousy and Facebook. Results also showed that there are two types of uncertainty-related behaviors: antisocial behaviors and territorial behaviors. Anxious-ambivalent attachment styles were found to engage in antisocial behaviors the most, whereas secure individuals engaged in antisocial behaviors the least. The findings provide ample areas for future research on social networking sites and relationship variables.

The Economics of Sin: Rational Choice or No Choice at all?

Cameron, Samuel January 2002 (has links)
No / The Economics of Sin examines the definition and evolution of sin from the perspective of rational choice economics, yet is conscious of the limitations of such an approach. The author argues that because engaging in activities deemed to be sinful is an act of choice, it can therefore be subject to the logic of choice in the economic model. The book considers the formation of religions, including the new age revival of `wicca¿, as regulators of the quasi-market in sins, and goes on to appraise the role of specific sins such as lying, envy, jealousy, greed, lust, sloth, and waste in individual markets and in macroeconomic activity. Empirical evidence on issues such as cannibalism, capital punishment, addiction, adultery and prostitution is also explored. Samuel Cameron concludes that a large percentage of economic activity is intimately connected with forms of sin which are in some circumstances highly beneficial to the functioning of markets, particularly in the presence of market failure. This innovative, interdisciplinary study of the institution of sin will be of enormous interest to a wide-ranging readership, including researchers and teachers of economics, sociology and theology. It will also be of importance for anthropologists and philosophers.

Odraz poetiky A.Achmatovové a M.Cvetajevové v českých překladech / A. Akhmatova's and M. Tsvetaeva's Poetics and Its Rendering in Czech Translations

Černá, Anna January 2013 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the rendering of the poetics of Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva in Czech translations. The first part deals with the phenomenon of poetesses in the Russian literature and subsequently with Akhmatova's and Tsvetaeva's life, works, style and reception. The second part is focused on contrastive translatological analysis of different approaches to their poetry and detailed analysis of existing Czech translations of Akhmatova's poem Rekviem and Tsvetaeva's work Popytka revnosti. It defines the approach of all translators to translation and evaluates the quality and adequacy of individual translation solutions in relation to the author's style and intention.

Hovington, Edith 12 1900 (has links)
Evolutionary models propose that women are more affected by emotional infidelity than by sexual infidelity. The associated psychological mechanisms would have evolved during the hunter-gatherer phase of our phylogenetic history and would be a response to a woman’s need to secure exclusive access to the economic resources provided by her mate. The economic situation of women has changed considerably since then, many women being financially independent. In the present study we test the hypothesis that financially independent women are less intensively jealous, or become less rapidly jealous, compared to women who rely financially on their husband. We also assess whether the number of children, or certain personality traits, affect jealousy. Our sample included 60 women and the data were obtained through questionnaires featuring fictional situations. Our results do not support the main hypothesis; the various subgroups of women were jealous at comparable levels. We discuss various factors that might account for these findings, including the possibility that other aspects of the relationship might have concealed the effect of a woman’s economic situation. We also found significant differences in the intensity of jealousy according to the identity of the husband’s fictional partner (old versus new girlfriend). These results are also discussed in an evolutionary perspective.

We worked with sociointeract reading and one of the possibilities of facilitator text to develop the reading process in school. We brought to discussion the use of MPB like important text and appropriated to develop reader learners. We used as theoretical referential Aristotle s passion and a brief concept of old rhetoric to analyze with the new Perelman and Tyteca´s rhetoric. We detached the use of argument and metaphor in the new rhetoric and found, by means of jealousy´s representation, this presence in MPB songs of 70 s. Finally, we analyzed two MPB songs and pointed the jealousy s presence by means of passion. We followed the rhetoric s bases to identify persuasive speech in MPB and we believe that the argument be able to persuade a lot of types of audience and for phatos be reached it´s just invest in the ethos´ constitution / Essa dissertação trata da importância da leitura e aborda uma das suas nuances como colaboradora na formação do indivíduo leitor.

Constru??o e valida??o de escala de posse / Construction and validation of ownership scale

Elyseu J?nior, Sebasti?o 12 May 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-04T18:29:27Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Sebastiao Elyseu Junior 2.pdf: 1309648 bytes, checksum: 780dfab0e8a1fc758aa3bbf94ec05941 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-05-12 / This work deals with the building and validation of a scale of ownership of self-report, based on clinical experience and in an ethological ownership theory, that postulates it as a instinctive tendency of the individual to achieve and/or mantain the dominion of one or more figures of ownership by means of instinctive patterns of ownership behaviour, regulating the provision for self usufruct and/or of the offspring. This first version was composed of 25 items, related to the ownership of the two general types of figures of ownership: people and things. These items allow the subject to indicate the degree of intensity of the answers, in a 4-point Likert scale type (1-weak, 2-medium, 3- strong, 4-excessive). The phase of building included the semantical and theoretical analysis of the items by university students and judges, respectively. The level of agreement among five independent judges in relation to its theoretical pertinence was 90% and Kappa = 0,88, being, thus, high. The sample of the test was constituted of university students (N= 296, 140 male and 156 female) from the areas of humanities, exacts and biologics, aged 18-28. The phase of validation involved the reliability valuation, the construct validity and the criteria validity. The reliability study, made by the Spearman rank correlation coefficient (N= 84, 38 male and 46 female), indicated that the secure and anxious ownership patterns and envious pattern, for people figure, and the secure and anxious ownership patterns, for thing figure, presented acceptable temporal stability in the retest (p< 0,01), four months later. The study of construct validity, made by factorial analysis by the method of analysis of principal components and Oblimin rotation, resulted in three interpretable factors (21,88% of variance), that evaluate the following dimensions: F1 - Ownership security People, F2 - Ownership security Things, and F3 - Ownership detachment. The good internal consistency of the scale was revealed by an Alpha of 0,70. As measure of external criteria, for the study of criteria validity, semi-structured clinical interviews were carried out in a smaller sample (N= 30, 15 male and 15 female). A valuation of agreement among three independent judges, the author included, about the categorisation and quantification of the answers of four interviews, of 69,69% and, by the Kappa coefficient, of 0,51, 0,43 and 0,73 for each pair of judges, was considered acceptable, suggesting the reliability of the criteria. The Spearman rank correlation coefficients, between the scale and interviews, indicated good validity (p< 0,01) for the secure (rs = 0,65) and anxious (rs = 0,73) ownership patterns and envious pattern (rs = 0,65), when they refer to the figure of person or animal. When they refer to the figure of things, the coefficients were a little more modest, but significant (p< 0,01) for the secure (rs = 0,51) and jealous (rs = 0,54) ownership patterns. A descriptive analysis of the distribuition of the referred patterns, in the general sample and by sex, has also been carried out.
