To Work or not to Work : An empirical study that focuses on the effects of the largest employment programme of local unemployed workers in Växjö, Sweden.

Eefting, Sander January 2018 (has links)
Employment programmes, or on-the-job training programmes, are designed to increase the likelihood of unemployed workers receiving work opportunities by providing actual work experience. Whether the unemployed workers lack human resources, obtained a degree in a foreign country or simply need a boost towards obtaining a new job, these programmes give workers the opportunity to execute tasks at organised firms and therefore strengthen their connection to the labour market.  The focus of this paper is towards a unique programme, called Arbetspraktik. This specific programme is designed with the intention to increase the labour market outcomes of unemployed workers. Geographically, Växjö has been selected as the main priority. The local focus is due to two reasons; firstly, the internship at the Swedish Employment Service in Växjö provided local support, insight and experience and therefore estimating local effects matched the purpose of the internship. The result of this thesis may also be used as informative research for the Swedish Employment Service where I performed my internship. Secondly, according to previous work, specific regions within a country are not looked at on a high frequency in Sweden and therefore focusing on regional effects could be beneficial to already existing studies. Previous research shows that the evaluation of these programmes has been done in many countries. Data for this study is obtained through the Swedish Employment Service. With the use of Matching and Propensity Scores, the findings claim that participants in Arbetspraktik have a 28.3% higher probability of receiving better outcomes than the controlled counterpart in Växjö. The interviews, despite having low observations, indicate that positive outcomes for trainees are a possibility and may be connected to the outcomes of the model. For example, trainees are shown to become more independent and productivity across trainees increases over time. Lastly, the interviews claim that trainees perform the same tasks as full-time workers, which is discussed to be a positive thing. Self-critique and tips for future research are presented at the end.

Clima laboral y su relación con el Engagement de los egresados de los programas de capacitación laboral juvenil de las escuelas corporativas: Alicorp S.A.A en el 2017-2018 / Work climate and its relation with the Engagement of the graduates of the youth labor training programs of the corporate schools: Alicorp S.A.A in 2017-2018

Burga Córdova, José Alberto, Manrique Reynaga, Natalia Madeleine 27 December 2019 (has links)
The present investigation resulted in the relationship between the work climate and the personal commitment of the Alicorp SAA youth labor training program, for the periods 2017 and 2018. Due to the importance of this training program and the relevance in terms of the generation of talent necessary for the company, we tried to analyze by segmentation in dimensions of the work environment, taking into account the dimensions of autonomy, motivation, predisposition to technological changes and the reward, this is due to the training model that the graduates of this program have and that are the current factors of measurement for active personnel through the application of a work climate indicator. For this, we have seen a sample of 25 employees who have completed this profile of all productive areas, in order to seek impartiality and diversity of perspective of the study audience. the methodology applied was the compilation of data through the application of a survey, which using the Likert scale collected the information, and then enter the data in a statistical program to analyze and clarify if there is a direct and positive relationship between the work enviroment and engagement. The results indicate that there is a direct and positive relationship between the work climate and the commitment of the graduates of the study population, for this reason some recommendations were proposed to strengthen this degree of relationship. / Tesis

A Descriptive Study of Escuela Cenpritec, La Paz, Bolivia

Fahrlander, Daniel C. 01 May 1970 (has links)
A descriptive study of the Escuela Cenpritec school was carried out between September 15, 1969 and November 15, 1969 in La Paz, Bolivia. All pertinent literature was reviewed and interviews were conducted with school and government personnel. A fine physical plant has been constructed that is well lighted and equipped. It is adequately protected by a perimeter wall and by the services of a night watchman. Classes were being conducted in the four areas of electricity, plumbing, masonry and carpentry. Few of the objectives set forth in the organizational documents were met. Classes in the construction trades were offered but subsequent employment of the graduate in his specialty was very low. Coordination of on-the-job training, or, for that matter, any other kind of construction training in the city by Cenpritec did not exist. Only one class in training for the rural worker was held and efforts to encourage his return to the rural areas were unsuccessful because job opportunities were better in the city. Training for the student was at the very basic level and no classes for specialists were ever held. Basic literacy courses did not materialize even though widespread illiteracy among the study body hindered efforts to teach the building trades. No classes in management and supervision training were held. Difficulties which surround the school were myriad. The initial feasibility study apparently was not accurate and was based upon subjective evaluation rather than statistical data. Many promises of support, financial aid and help were never fulfilled. The Board of Directors often failed to discharge its duty in the direction and administration of Cenpritec. The Peace Corps advisors failed to ensure total operation of the school in accordance with its legal documents. A breakdown in communications between USAID/Bolivia and the Peace Corps/Bolivia led to confusion regarding responsibility for the school, conditions necessary for continued financial aid, and extent of authority of the volunteer instructors. Inability or unwillingness of the Government of Bolivia to accept readily its financial responsibility for the school suggests that future funding may reach crisis proportions. A policy for the continued evaluation and observation of Cenpritec does not exist and the rapid exchange of American personnel in Bolivia has led to the responsibility for its operation being placed primarily in the hands of the Peace Corps volunteer instructors. Future successful operation of Cenpritec will depend upon a careful reassessment of its role with respect to the construction industry, a reactivation of the Board of Directors, a pledge of support from the Bolivian Government and a commitment by American officials for continued, long term supervision.

Succeed and scope: transition programs for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their parents

Kocher, Elizabeth 10 May 2022 (has links)
Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience difficulty with transitioning to competitive integrated employment following high school. Addressing this disparity in transitioning to competitive integrated employment can be supported through a high school transition program with community-based work experiences for students with IDD. The Schools United in Collaboration with Community-based Experiences for Employment Development (SUCCEED) Program and School Collaboration for Optimal Parent Education (SCOPE) are proposed transition programs for students with IDD and their parents to help bridge the gap towards competitive integrated employment. The SUCCEED program for high school students with IDD includes both classroom-based functional skills training and community-based work experiences. The key components of SCOPE include: parent education on resources, services, and agencies available in Ohio to navigate the path to competitive integrated employment; collaboration and sharing of experiences; and support to build advocacy and empowerment skills. This doctoral project is a presentation of the program proposal, theoretical base to understand the problem, a review of the evidence base of the current approaches and methods to address the problem, theories guiding the development of the program, the description of the proposed program, and the program evaluation research plan. Additionally, information about the funding and dissemination plan for stakeholders are discussed.

A Comparative Evaluation of Two Humanizing Approaches to In-Service Training of Teachers

Williams, Donald Gene 08 1900 (has links)
The problem of the study was to compare the relationships between a cognitive-oriented and affective-oriented teacher in-service program on the subsequent incidence of humane characteristics in the classroom. Ninety-two teachers of grades 4, 5, and 6 from three school districts located in the Region XI Education Service Center area were involved in the study. One of the purposes of the study was to obtain information which could be helpful to Texas educators responsible for teacher in-service programs. It is critical that educators know the kinds of in-service programs which produce the greatest change in teacher behavior. This study concludes that in-service education programs which focus on specific instructional skills and strategies related to curriculum content are more viable in achieving the characteristics of a humane classroom than in-service programs which, though they be skills-oriented, do not relate specifically to curriculum content.

The Effects Of Cooperative Learning On Learning Outcomes And Reactions To Training In An In-service Training Course

Gokmen, Suheyla 01 March 2009 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of cooperative learning method and individualistic learning method on learning outcomes and training reactions of adults participating an in-service training course. The study was conducted with 42 adults in pilot study and 92 in main study conducted in a government bank. Subjects were randomly assigned to two pilot study groups and four main study groups. Two different training programs were developed, one for individualistic learning, and the other for cooperative learning in order to test the effect of each method on learning outcomes and training reactions. The content and length of the training programs taught were held constant, and duration of training was totally 15 hours (3 hours in each of the five days). Participants, in all groups, learned the same topic of &ldquo / Structured On-the-Job Training&rdquo / and were taught by the same trainer. Cooperative learning groups worked on the exercises structured with the five basic elements of cooperative learning, and the individualistic learning groups worked as individually with the instructor calling on participants at random. Learning Outcomes Tests were administered at the end of each day to measure cognitive learning outcomes, which learners attained during the Training. Training Reactions Questionnaire was administered at the end of the Training. A significant difference between the cooperative learning group and the individualistic learning group was examined concerning learning outcomes as a result of ANCOVA by using the age as covariate. Subjects in the cooperative learning group had a significantly higher level of Learning Outcomes Test score than did those in the individualistic learning group. However, there was no significant difference between the cooperative learning groups and individualistic learning groups based on their training reactions. This study indicated that cooperative learning appears to be a method of instruction that is well suited to the needs of adult learners. Subjects of the study learned more through the cooperative learning method than individualistic learning method that was used. They responded to training as much positive as their counterparts learning in individualistic learning group. Results of the study suggest that structuring positive social interdependence in the classroom through cooperative learning procedures can be used effectively within adult education and specifically training settings.

Abstract: The worker education in the last decades has been grounds for discussion and controversies among civil and politics society, involving the work category. This happens because in this period, the structural crisis in the capital required a reestructuration process in the productive field, which was followed by the technological advances of automation and information. Its consequences, in the educational and social field were requests that were bigger and bigger, to the development of intellectual and multifunctional skills, creating a new worker, at the same time that created the structural unemployment, the intensification and the deterioration of the job posts that remained. In this context, there are the EJA students and EJA, as its educational politics, denounces that the developments of the state actions have been happening through compensatory policies. Historically we know that these do not assure to the students neither the reinsertion in the work world as autonomous producers, nor the exercise of a critical and participative citizenship, but assure only the commitment with the capital, leaving, to the will of the maintenance of the logical of the workers as dependent on the exclusion of poverty. The establishment of these politics have also the ideological scope, pointed to conjunctural exits, that do not compromise the maintenance of the expansion and of the accrual of the wealth by only a few. The public power, businessmen and some segments of civil society get together and develop thesis that, in the context of education as a kind of good, make the school education a unilateral product to the success of professional technical qualification. It is in the congruency of these phenomena that the term employability arose as pedagogical conception to EJA. This survey, as part of this context, has as its investigation purpose, the historical implications and the current developments of the educational politics to EJA. As hypothesis, supposes that the inability of EJA to equate, as proposed, the conditions of women and men students of EJA, through school education, questioning the employability term usage by EJA. As a counterpoint, it defends, as a thesis, that the social role of EJA, as one of the institutions that act in the worker education, is found as a transitory process between the EJA end, as compensatory policy of a lost time, and the Work School constitution. This is the permanent exercise of the acquisition and development of the intellectual, manual, aesthetic, ethics, politics, social and, above all, economics domain in the productive world of the workers that are graduated as producers freely associated, by the articulation between the formation in the work and the school education. Both as fields of knowledge which, when interacting in the scope of the practice, believe in an education for emancipation. / Doutorado / Historia, Filosofia e Educação / Doutor em Educação
