Kidnethics: In the search for the collective internet ethics

This thesis is focus on finding ways ​ to bring awareness to the parents about the complexity of the internet in order to empower them at the moment to approach online protection topics with their children, therefore it started with a analysis of the online protection field from a broader perspective and eventually by comparing the field with the insights gathered during a set of interventions, it narrowed down to online protection for kids and the relation with the parents and their children in relation with this topic.The research followed a research through design approach which allows the process to learn from the outcomes of every iterations and generates a dynamic relation of framing and reframing that enables the design process to modify its focus within the same field based on the conversation of the results and the theory.Additionally, a participatory design approach based on a set of workshops and interviews with experts, informed the process in which could be the most suitable approach to reach the goal of the project.As a result, this thesis propose a set of tools to generate collective solutions among parents based on the understanding of the internet infrastructure and the open discussion about the internet issues their children could faced.Besides, this exploration aims to state a new role of the interaction designer as the mediator within the relation between the user and and the technology different than by setting a set of usability rules but closer to the generation of codes of conduct grounded in an open discussion between the all the parts involved. This approach motivates a transparent dialogue about thesocial and ethical implication in the use of such tools.

Academic Performance and Cultural Adaptation of South Korean Parachute Kids

This study investigates how Korean Parachute Kids perform academically in their schools and what social factors contribute to Korean Parachute Kids' academic performance. Korean children who came to the U.S. for educational purposes without their parental supervision are called `Korean Parachute Kids'. They have several characteristics: most of them come from high SES families, their parents have high expectations of their children and force them to go to the U.S., Korean Parachute Kids are pressured to attend Ivy League colleges, and their parents tend to compensate for their absence with money or presents. Korean Parachute Kids who come to the United States without their parents encounter many problems, both academically and socially. Many Korean Parachute Kids struggle to adjust and face academic failure due to language barriers, cultural differences, and the different curricula in the U.S. This failure occurs even though acquiring an education is the reason for Korean Parachute Kids' stay in the U.S. and is what their parents have invested exorbitant amounts of money. In light of the absence of their parents, many Korean Parachute Kids' behaviors go unchecked, which may, in turn, cause these children to be maladjusted in many aspects of their school lives. Korean parents' high expectation for their children's academic success is regarded as one of the factors that cause their children to misbehave. Research is needed in order to inform Korean parents and Korean and U.S. society about the academic and social implications of early study abroad for Korean children. Guidelines should also be provided in order for Korean parents to discern what the good and bad aspects of early study abroad in the U.S. are for their children. This research will also be beneficial to educators in America in that they will be aware of Korean Parachute Kids' academic and social difficulties in school since the number of Korean Parachute kids who study in the U.S. continues to increase. / Urban Education

臺北市幼兒園家長對男性幼教師在幼兒園任職角色接受度之調查研究 / The study of investigation of the acceptance of male teachers’ occupational roles in kindergarten. A case study of parents of kids in kindergarten.

本研究旨在探討臺北市幼兒園家長對男性幼教師專業素養的認同度及在幼兒園任職角色的接受度。本研究採問卷調查法,問卷調查樣本以臺北市十二行政區共十五所幼兒園,含國小附設幼兒園、市立幼兒園、公辦民營幼兒園及私立幼兒園。共計抽取450位幼兒園家長,樣本回收418份,回收率為92.88%;樣本可用405份,可用率90%。研究工具包含自編之「臺北市幼兒園家長對男性幼教師專業素養與任職角色之調查研究」。本研究統計方法包含描述性統計、t考驗、單因子變異數分析、皮爾森積差相關分析、多元逐步迴歸分析。研究結果顯示家長教育程度與子女就讀幼兒園所在行政區及園所類型在家長對男性幼教師專業素養認同度、任職角色接受度及在自己子女就讀之幼兒園任職角色接受度等構面有顯著影響;子女就讀之幼兒園內是否有男性幼教師任職,會影響家長對男性幼教師在幼兒園任職的接受度。由研究結果得知,男性幼教師的專業能力是得到肯定的,但仍必須仰賴實際的接觸經驗與相關資訊的透明化,因此男性幼教師需要政府的相關協助包括獎助學金與保障就業等,方能有投入幼教環境的動機,幼兒園主管機關則必須藉由教學分享平台、教學觀摩與親師溝通平台等方式讓男性幼教師能與女性幼教師及家長密切交流,減低家長對男性幼教師的疑慮並增進對男性幼教師的肯定。本研究係以台北市為研究範圍,且僅以問卷調查評估男性幼教師的專業接受度,建議未來研究可將範圍擴大,及可採取質性訪談方式,以訪談或者開放性問卷等方式取得資料,並將研究對象擴及幼兒園管理階層與女性幼教師等層次。 / The study aims to explore the identity of male kindergartens teachers professionalism and their occupational roles in respect to their acceptance by the parents of kids. This study conducts questionnaire solicitation from fifteen kindergartens in twelve districts in Taipei City. 418 sampling questionnaires were collected from a total of selective 450 parents of kindergarten kids. Among those samples 405 are used for this research study. The feedback rate is 92.88% and the available rate is 90%. The fundamental research tools include "The Survey of Professionalism and Occupational Role on Male Kindergarten Teachers by Parents of Preschool Kids in Taipei", which was originated by author. The adopted statistic methods are descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlations and multi-step regressions. The conclusion of study can be summarized as follows. The education degree of parents, the districts where kids studied and the pattern of kindergarten affect significantly in recognition of professionalism on male kindergarten teachers, acceptance of occupational role and acceptance of occupational role in the kindergartens kids studied. Besides, the male teachers are in kindergarten or not affected the acceptance of occupational role in kindergarten kids studied in. According to the results, the abilities of male teachers is approved. But the acceptance is still restricted by the experiences of parents and the information they received. Thus, the government can offer guarantee, awards and subsidy to promote male teachers; institutions of preschool teacher education and kindergartens management can create teaching platform and communication platforms, host teaching observation to promote the interaction between parents, male and female teachers. Due to the sample region restricted in Taipei, the researchers can increase the regions and choose Stratified random sampling. Besides, because other professional domains in male kindergarten teachers and the view of male teachers in female teachers are not the content in the research, they can be added in the framework in the future. The future researcher can adopt qualitative research method and increase open questionnaires for parents, and collect dynamic data. Finally, the management in kindergartens, female teachers and male teachers can be added to the object of study.

The Repatriation Experiences of American Third Culture Kids

American families moving abroad are often informed of the initial difficulties they will encounter as residents in a new culture; however, they may not recognize the possible subsequent effects on their children, when returning home to their native cultures during the repatriation process. The children who experience the effect of living in a new culture and eventually repatriating are known as Third Culture Kids (TCK). As globalization and expatriate populations increase, it is important that society becomes aware of the Third Culture community. This qualitative research study focused on analyzing the repatriation transition process of four Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCK) and explored the relationship between their emotional intelligence and their third culture and repatriating experiences. This dissertation provides a profile for what type of citizen a TCK may become upon repatriation. Framed within a narrative inquiry approach this study utilized the Listening Guide method of analysis in order to capture the participants’ final narrative portraits. Storied themes emerged from the final narratives providing evidence for this research study’s five main conclusions: (a) home is not defined by one physical location, (b) assimilation and repatriation do not equate, (c) emotional intelligence may be a factor in repatriation success, (d) Third Culture experiences influence civic engagement, and (e) there is one incident that is perceived as signifying the completion of repatriation. These findings offer a new perspective of the repatriating experience and provide insight for families entering the expatriate culture and returning home.

Att spela datorspel är för många barn en rolig och populär sysselsättning och det finns olika sorters spel som barnen spelar. Många barn spelar våldsamma datorspel vilket har uppmärksammats i skolor. De har observerat att barn som spelat våldsamma datorspel lekt på ett aggressivt och våldsamt sätt på skolgården. Inom forskningen har också sambandet mellan våldsamma datorspel och barn observerats och det har genomförts mycket forskning inom området för att utröna om barn som spelar våldsamma datorspel blir mer aggressiva och våldsamma av att spela dessa spel. Forskningen på området är däremot motstridig huruvida barn som spelar våldsamma datorspel blir mer aggressiva och våldsamma. Studiens syfte är att undersöka vad det finns för stöd i forskning som talar för eller emot att barn som spelar våldsamma datorspel blir aggressiva och våldsamma och varför forskningen är motstridig på området. Resultatet i studien är att när endast sambandet våldsamma datorspel och aggressivitet mäts tenderar sambandet att vara starkare, att barn som spelar våldsamma datorspel också uppvisar högre nivåer av aggression. Det som talar emot att barn som spelar våldsamma datorspel uppvisar högre aggressionsnivåer är att när andra bakgrundsvariabler beaktas tenderar sambandet mellan våldsamma datorspel och aggressionsnivåer hos barn att minska eller försvinna. Hur aggressionsbegreppet tolkas och att vissa forskare bedriver en forskning som visar ett samband med att barn blir mer våldsamma utav att spela våldsamma datorspel och forskare som visar på motsatsen är anledningar till att forskningen är motstridig på området. / Playing computergames is to many children a fun and popular hobby and there are various kinds of games that children play. Many children play violent computergames which has attracted attention in schools. They have observed that children who played violent computergames played in an aggressive and violent manner in the schoolyard. Within science the connection between violent computergames and children has been observed and there has been much research in the field to find out if children who plays violent computergames becomes more aggressive and violent when they play these games. Research on the other hand is contradictory whether children who play violent computergames becomes more aggressive and violent. Purpose of the study is to investigate what are the support for in research who speaks for or against that children who plays violent computergames becomes aggressive and violent and why research is contradictory in this area. The result in the study is when only the connection between violent computergames and aggressiveness is measured the connection seems to be stronger that children who plays violent computergames also exhibit higher levels of aggression. What speaks against that children who plays violent computergames exhibit higher aggression levels is that when other background variables is considered the connection between violent computergames and aggression seems to decrease or disappear. How the term aggression is interpreted and that some scientist conducts research that shows a relation that children who plays violent computergames becomes more aggressive when playing these games and other scientists conducts research that shows the opposite are reasons that research are contradictionary in the area.

Praha: Hussite Theological Faculty, The Charles University, 2014. pp 80. Diploma Dissertation. The thesis is focused on the phenomenon of adolescent self-harm, concerning its prevalence among normal and problematic youth, and also the knowledge of professionals who work with youth. The research is divided in two parts. The first one maps the incidence of self-harm among pupils of a secondary school in comparison with clients of Facility for Kids with Behavioral Disorders in Chrudim and is processed using a standardized questionnaire called Self-Harm Invetory (SHI, 1998). The results show that there is nosignificant difference between normal and troubled youth in the prevalence of the risk behavior itself, but typically self-harm practices are already several times more prevalent among youth with behavioral disorders.It aims to find out whether it can be assumed that self-harm threatens only adolescents with special needs and if it is a marginal issue in general population. Esta pesquisa de mestrado se situa nos estudos de inter-relação do design com a arquitetura, enfocando os equipamentos denominados Academia da Primeira Idade, entendidos como um mobiliário urbano para o público infantil presente e implantado no espaço livre público das áreas de playground, em locais levantados na atualidade na cidade de São Paulo, onde foram realizadas pesquisas de campo com abordagem qualitativa. Com o objetivo de levantar dados sobre como um mobiliário urbano é percebido e entendido por seu público alvo, procurou-se pela visão das crianças usuárias e seus acompanhantes a fim de obter entendimento e diretrizes sobre o espaço e equipamentos para brincar e se exercitar. Foram utilizadas várias ferramentas de pesquisa para captação de dados como: observação não participante, entrevista com acompanhantes no local de uso, storytelling com crianças, além de levantamentos nos órgãos públicos gestores e com especialistas, com enfoque no uso e apropriação pelos seus usuários, verificando aspectos formais, comportamentais e de interação social. Por meio da triangulação de dados foi possível levantar os pontos relevantes na opinião dos stakeholders, agentes envolvidos, gerando conhecimentos para aprimoramento dos espaços e equipamentos existentes, bem como para novos projetos afins. Como principais achados podem ser destacados pontos positivos e negativos citados sobre os equipamentos elencados além de aspectos como proporcionar diversão com segurança, conservação, interação com outras crianças, e outros relacionados às características físicas e de manutenção de espaços bem cuidados, com piso adequado, e dotados de mobiliário complementar, sempre presentes nas narrativas dos pesquisados quanto as suas necessidades e expectativas. Considerando a importância que o brincar tem na formação das crianças, e que experiências e vivências únicas o espaço público pode proporcionar, espera-se que estes dados, considerando a visão e opinião dos usuários, possam servir para melhorar a qualidade dos espaços e equipamentos públicos infantis. / This master\'s research is inserted in the studies of the inter-relation between design and architecture, focusing on what is called Kids Outdoor Fitness Equipment, understood as urban furniture aimed for children and implanted in the public space of playground areas, in places chosen presently in the city of São Paulo, where field research was undertaken with a qualitative approach. With the goal of raising data on how urban furniture is perceived and understood by its target audience, it has sought the point of view of child users and their escorts in order to obtain understanding and guidelines regarding the space and equipment to play and exercise in. Several research tools were used to gather the data, such as non-participant observation, interview with escorts at the site of usage, and storytelling with children, besides collecting data at public agencies and with specialists, with a focus on the use and appropriation by the users, verifying formal, behavioral and social interaction aspects. By means of triangulation of data, it was possible to raise the relevant aspects in the opinion of the stakeholders, the agents involved, generating knowledge for the improvement of the existing spaces and equipment, as well as for new related projects. As the main findings, we can highlight positive and negative features cited regarding the listed equipment, besides aspects such as affording entertainment with safety, conservation, and interaction with other children, as well as others related to the physical features and the maintenance of well cared-for spaces, with adequate flooring, and fitted with complementary furniture, always present in the narratives of the researched as far as their needs and expectations. Considering the importance of play in children\'s growth, and what unique experiences public space can provide, it is hoped that these data, considering the point of view and opinion of the users, may serve to improve the quality of spaces and public children\'s equipment.

Flutuação de proteínas séricas e diarréia durante o processo de aquisição de proteção passiva em cabritas aleitadas com colostro caprino, bovino in natura e bovino liofilizado / Fluctuation of serum proteins and diarrhea during the process of acquisition of passive protection in newborn goat kids fed goat and bovine colostrum in natura and lyophilized bovine

Avaliou-se o efeito de diferentes fontes de colostro, caprino e bovino in natura, e bovino liofilizado em 25 cabritas distribuídas aleatoriamente em cinco tratamentos: CCA - colostro caprino adequado (45 a 55 mg/mL de IgG); CCB - colostro caprino baixo (15 a 25 mg/mL de IgG); CBA - colostro bovino adequado (45 a 55 mg/mL de IgG); CBB - colostro bovino baixo (15 a 25 mg/mL de IgG) e CBL - colostro bovino liofilizado (45 a 55 mg/mL de IgG). Os animais receberam 5% do peso vivo de colostro às 0,12 e 24 horas após o nascimento e, em seguida, leite de vaca duas vezes ao dia e concentrado ad libitum até 60 dias de idade. Amostras de sangue foram coletadas nos dias 0, ½, 1, 2 , 5, 10,15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50 e 60 de idade. O sangue foi analisado quanto ao valor de hematócrito e a concentração de proteína total (PT). As frações protéicas separadas por eletroforese e a condição de diarréia foi avaliada através de cor, consistência, presença de sangue/muco. As variáveis sanguíneas foram analisadas como medidas repetidas no tempo. Com relação ao valor de hematócrito efeito de período foi observado, o valor no primeiro dia de idade, 28,76±1,76, foi maior que nos 10, 30, 35 e 60 dias de idade, com valores médios de 23,88±0,98, 24,18±0,70, 23,73±0,74 e 24,53±0,79%, respectivamente. Interação entre tratamento e período foi verificado para PT sérica, os tratamentos CCB, CBA, CBB e CBL apresentaram aumento gradativo nas concentrações séricas até os 60 dias de idade, enquanto CCA apresentou valores nos dias 10,15, 40, 50 e 60 dias de idade maiores que o valor ao nascimento. Os valores de albumina sérica foram afetados pelo tratamento e período, sendo o valor em CBL, 2,39±0,12 g/dL, significamente inferior ao dos tratamentos CCA, CCB, CBA e CBB, com 3,20±0,12, 2,94±0,12, 3,25±0,12, 3,08±0,12 g/dL, respectivamente. Um aumento gradativo nas concentrações desta variável foi observado até os 60 dias de idade. Ao 0 e ½ dia de idade os valores de globulina sérica foram menores que os observados na última data experimental, 60 dias de idade. A relação albumina/globulinas sérica foi afetada pelo efeito de tratamento e período, com os valores em CBL significativamente superiores do que em CCA, CCB, CBA e CBB. A relação foi maior ao nascimento diminuindo nas datas subseqüentes, ½ e 1 dia de idade. A variável gamaglobulina apresentou efeito de tratamento e período, com valores em CBL significativamente superiores do que em CCB e CBB, não diferindo dos encontrados em CCA e CBA. Os valores ao 0 e ½ dia de idade foram menores que aos 60 dias de idade. Observando a condição de diarréia nos tratamentos verificou-se que os animais CCB e CBB apresentaram maior frequência de diarréia que os animais dos demais tratamentos, indicando uma relação inversa entre anticorpos no colostro e condição de diarréia. Os resultados indicam que o colostro bovino liofilizado pode ser utilizado para caprinos recém-nascidos como fonte alternativa para a aquisição de proteção inicial. / It was to evaluated the effect of different sources of colostrum, goat and bovine in natura, and lyophilized bovine in 25 newborn female goat kids were randomly allocated to five treatments: GCA - goat colostrum adequate (45 to 55 mg/mL of IgG), GCL - goat colostrum low (15 to 25 mg/mL of IgG), BCA - bovine colostrum adequate (45 to 55 mg/mL of IgG), LBC - bovine colostrum low (15 to 25 mg / mL of IgG) and of treatment CBL, lyophilized bovine colostrum (45 to 55 mg / mL of IgG). The animals received 5% of body weight of colostrum at 0, 12, 24 hr after birth and then, bovine milk twice a day and concentrate ad libitum until 60 days of life. Blood samples were collected in 0, ½, 1, 2 , 5, 10,15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50 e 60 days of age. Blood was analyzed for hematocrit value and total protein (TP). Protein fractions were separated by electrophoresis and the condition of diarrhea was evaluated by color, consistency, blood/mucus presence. Blood variables analyzed as repeated measures on time.Related to hematocrit values effect of period was observed, the value at one day of age, 28.76±1.76, was higher than at 10, 30, 35 and 60 days of age, with average at 23.88±0.98, 24.18±0.70, 23.73±0.74 and 24.53 ± 0.79%, respectively. Interaction between treatment and period was observed for serum TP, treatments GCL, BCA, BCL, and LBC showed a gradual increase in serum concentrations up to 60 days of age, while GCA showed values on days 10, 15, 40, 50 and 60 days of age, greater than the value at birth. The values of serum albumin were affected by treatment and period, being the value in LBC, 2.39±0.12 g/dL, significantly lower than the GCA treatment, GCL, BCA and BCL, with 3.20±0.12 , 2.94±0.12, 3.25±0.12 and 3.08± 0.12 g/dL, respectively. A gradual increase in the concentrations of this variable was observed until 60 days of age. To 0 and ½ day of age values of serum globulin were significantly lower than the observed at last experimental date, 60 days of age. Serum albumin/globulin relation was affected by the treatment and period with the values in CBL significantly higher than observed in GCA, GCL, BCA and BCL. The relation was higher at birth decreasing in the following dates, ½ and 1 day of age. The variable gamma globulin was affected by treatment and period, with values in LBC significantly higher than in GCL and BCL, not differing from the found in GCA and BCA. The values at 0 and ½ day of age were lower than 60 days of age. Observing the diarrhea condition, in the treatments, it was verified that the GCL and BCL animal had showed higher diarrhea incidence than the animals from the other treatments, indicating an inverse relationship between antibodies in the colostrum and condition of diarrhea. The results indicate that lyophilized bovine colostrum can be used to newborns goat kids as an alternative source for the acquisition of initial protection.

From the second week on they received Tifton hay and concentrate, in rate of 40:60. They were weighed at birth and weekly early in the morning, before feeding. Zoometrical measurements were made in the morning even two weeks. The male kids were slaughtered between 20 and 25 kg of body weight. The crossbreds 3/4 BU were greater than others genetic groups in weight gain, denoting the Boer percentage influence in the crossbreds. However the crossbreds 1/2 BA weren?t greater than Anglo-Nubians purebred in weight gain. Therefore, the Boer genes percentage didn?t improvement the offspring results. The crossbred advantages in weigh at slaughter and empty body weight didn?t influence in carcass traits majority. Nevertheless, as bigger the Boer genes percentage, the fatter was the carcass. This may suggests a better carcass protection to cold shortening. The Hankins & Howe?s prediction equations, for carcass bovine evaluation, were not consistent to kid goats carcass. Was impossible to develop bone tissue prediction equation by HH section. On the other hand, the shoulder allowed a trustful prediction of tissue composition of carcass. / Este trabalho foi realizado objetivando avaliar o desempenho produtivo de cabritos e cabritas Anglo-Nubianos e mesti?os Boer x Anglo-Nubiana (1/2 BA) e 3/4 Boer + 1/4 sem ra?a definida (3/4 BS) e as caracter?sticas de carca?a dos machos. Utilizaram-se 12 cabritos e 12 cabritas, que foram mantidos totalmente confinados, sendo amamentados com leite de cabra e de vaca em uma propor??o de 1:1. A partir da segunda semana de idade os cabritos foram alimentados com feno de tifton e concentrado farelado, em uma rela??o de 40:60. Os animais foram pesados, ao nascimento e semanalmente pela manh?. As medi??es zoom?tricas foram realizadas quinzenalmente. Os cabritos foram abatidos com peso corporal entre 20 e 25kg. Os mesti?os 3/4 BS foram superiores aos demais grupamentos raciais no desenvolvimento ponderal, o que indicou a influ?ncia da composi??o racial Boer nos mesti?os. Entretanto tal superioridade n?o foi observada no comparativo entre os mesti?os 1/2 BA e os Anglo-Nubianos, denotando n?o ter havido melhoramento na F1 por influ?ncia do grau de sangue Boer. Os melhores resultados dos mesti?os Boer sobre os Anglo-Nubianos nos pesos ao abate e do corpo vazio n?o se refletiram na maior parte das caracter?sticas da carca?a. Contudo, o percentual Boer dos mesti?os determinou maior propor??o de gordura na carca?a, podendo indicar uma melhora na prote??o da carca?a em rela??o ao encurtamento pelo frio, no seu armazenamento em baixas temperaturas. As equa??es propostas por Hankins & Howe, para avalia??o de carca?as bovinas, n?o s?o compat?veis para carca?a de caprinos jovens. N?o foi poss?vel desenvolver equa??o de predi??o para propor??o do tecido ?sseo a partir da sec??o HH. Por outro lado, a utiliza??o da paleta possibilitou a predi??o confi?vel da composi??o tecidual da carca?a.

Esta pesquisa de mestrado se situa nos estudos de inter-relação do design com a arquitetura, enfocando os equipamentos denominados Academia da Primeira Idade, entendidos como um mobiliário urbano para o público infantil presente e implantado no espaço livre público das áreas de playground, em locais levantados na atualidade na cidade de São Paulo, onde foram realizadas pesquisas de campo com abordagem qualitativa. Com o objetivo de levantar dados sobre como um mobiliário urbano é percebido e entendido por seu público alvo, procurou-se pela visão das crianças usuárias e seus acompanhantes a fim de obter entendimento e diretrizes sobre o espaço e equipamentos para brincar e se exercitar. Foram utilizadas várias ferramentas de pesquisa para captação de dados como: observação não participante, entrevista com acompanhantes no local de uso, storytelling com crianças, além de levantamentos nos órgãos públicos gestores e com especialistas, com enfoque no uso e apropriação pelos seus usuários, verificando aspectos formais, comportamentais e de interação social. Por meio da triangulação de dados foi possível levantar os pontos relevantes na opinião dos stakeholders, agentes envolvidos, gerando conhecimentos para aprimoramento dos espaços e equipamentos existentes, bem como para novos projetos afins. Como principais achados podem ser destacados pontos positivos e negativos citados sobre os equipamentos elencados além de aspectos como proporcionar diversão com segurança, conservação, interação com outras crianças, e outros relacionados às características físicas e de manutenção de espaços bem cuidados, com piso adequado, e dotados de mobiliário complementar, sempre presentes nas narrativas dos pesquisados quanto as suas necessidades e expectativas. Considerando a importância que o brincar tem na formação das crianças, e que experiências e vivências únicas o espaço público pode proporcionar, espera-se que estes dados, considerando a visão e opinião dos usuários, possam servir para melhorar a qualidade dos espaços e equipamentos públicos infantis. / This master\'s research is inserted in the studies of the inter-relation between design and architecture, focusing on what is called Kids Outdoor Fitness Equipment, understood as urban furniture aimed for children and implanted in the public space of playground areas, in places chosen presently in the city of São Paulo, where field research was undertaken with a qualitative approach. With the goal of raising data on how urban furniture is perceived and understood by its target audience, it has sought the point of view of child users and their escorts in order to obtain understanding and guidelines regarding the space and equipment to play and exercise in. Several research tools were used to gather the data, such as non-participant observation, interview with escorts at the site of usage, and storytelling with children, besides collecting data at public agencies and with specialists, with a focus on the use and appropriation by the users, verifying formal, behavioral and social interaction aspects. By means of triangulation of data, it was possible to raise the relevant aspects in the opinion of the stakeholders, the agents involved, generating knowledge for the improvement of the existing spaces and equipment, as well as for new related projects. As the main findings, we can highlight positive and negative features cited regarding the listed equipment, besides aspects such as affording entertainment with safety, conservation, and interaction with other children, as well as others related to the physical features and the maintenance of well cared-for spaces, with adequate flooring, and fitted with complementary furniture, always present in the narratives of the researched as far as their needs and expectations. Considering the importance of play in children\'s growth, and what unique experiences public space can provide, it is hoped that these data, considering the point of view and opinion of the users, may serve to improve the quality of spaces and public children\'s equipment.
