Os saberes docentes na prática de uma alfabetizadora: um estudo etnográfico / Teacher knowledges into a literacy teacher’s practice: an ethnographical study

Marli Lúcia Tonatto Zibetti 04 July 2005 (has links)
This thesis’ scope is that of researches on teaching knowledge, regarding work as the context in which the mobilization and construction of this knowledge takes place, based on experiences of academic development and professional performance. It is an investigation of knowledge present in teaching activity acquired during literacy instruction, the stage on basic education most vulnerable to student’s academic failure. The research seeks to understand the appropriation/objectification processes and the creation of knowledge into the teacher’s practice through an ethnographical approach, which is applied in participatory observation, interviews, document’s analysis and pictures. Which knowledge is mobilized by the teacher during her work with the children? Which elements contribute or influence the construction of teacher knowledge? How does she act with the absence of knowledge? Trying to answer these questions, the research presents two important dimensions into the construction of knowledge. A historical/dialogical dimension that highlights how knowledge is appropriated and objectified along the development history and professional performance, by means of dialogue with: a) the different experiences lived by the educator; b) professional partners with whom the teacher has the opportunity of establishing exchanges; c) the children with whom she works; d) the theoretical and pedagogical materials used up in class preparation. As the teacher listens the solicitations, needs and possibilities of her students, she gives meaning to the teaching task of reading and writing. The second dimension of teaching knowledge to be considered is it’s creative dimension. Even submitted to the limitation of daily work this activity can not be characterized as reproductive. On the contrary, as she faces the challenges of the literacy teaching task, the teacher reorganizes what she knows, searches new knowledge and uses different resources to create different forms of intervention into the pedagogical process. Such dimension can be identified by the following aspects: classroom management, diversity attendance at the process and activities related to literacy teaching. Finally, the research points to the emphasis given by public policies to teachers' development which tends to occur at superposed programs, which attend different professional segments in distinct projects. Moreover, the investments on teacher’s development are not articulated with the necessary improvements to the work’s objective conditions at schools, evidencing how, at the investigated school, the precariousness of these conditions impede the possibilities of a collective work development, able to offer a better teaching quality to suburban children to whom school is the main source of access to systematized knowledge.

Formação continuada de professores no espaço escolar e o exercício do saber formacional de diretores e coordenadores em São Bernardo do Campo: contribuição para uma profissionalidade emergente / Teacher continued education in the school space and the exercise of the formational knowledge of school principals and coordinators in São Bernardo do Campo: contribution to an emerging profissionality

Marilene Negrini da Silva 16 April 2015 (has links)
The present study attempted to identify the knowledges constructed by school principals and coordinators in teachers in-service training activities in the São Bernardo do Campo municipal school system, and the relation between these knowledges and the formation offered to the principals in the period between 1998 and 2008. The work starts by the construction of the theoretical-methodological assumptions based on the review of the current literature on teacher continued education. In this review, some of the guiding concepts of the empirical research emerged, namely, teacher knowledge (Ruth Mercado), daily life (Agnes Heller), mediation (Lev Vigotsky), activity (Alexis Leontiev), in-service education (António Nóvoa), professionalization (Maria Roldão), professional genres (Yves Clot), and teacher educator knowledges (Marguerite Altet). The empirical study, of a qualitative nature, investigated the trajectories followed by school principals and pedagogical coordinators in the construction of the knowledges necessary to teacher education within schools of the municipal education system. The procedures adopted included interviews with school principals, coordinators and managers of the education system, the analysis of documents produced about the school, and documents related to the training of teacher educators. Observations were also carried out at formative moments, such as HTPC and Pedagogical Meetings, with the purpose of clarifying situations that bring to the fore the knowledges constructed by them: the active listening, the planning of the formative action, the articulation between theory and practice, the mediation and the methodological procedures (feedback interview, intervention, and referral). The research shows that the establishment of a commitment to learning as the aim of school management results from a formative investment made by the school system. The study can contribute to the recognition of these professionals as agents of legitimate value in the formation of teachers.

Shaping the family : anti-obesity discourses and family life

MacAllister, Louise Karen January 2016 (has links)
This thesis examines the effects of anti-obesity discourses on parenting practices. While academics have paid attention to the political dimensions of anti-obesity policy and related discourses (for example Colls and Evans, 2009, Evans, 2006, 2010, McPhail, 2009, Rawlins, 2009), and others have considered the experiences of feeding and caring for families (for example Curtis and Fisher, 2007, DeVault, 1991 Warin et al, 2008, Valentine, 1999), the way in which anti-obesity policies become enrolled in, and possibly contested through, parenting practices remains largely uncovered. In response to this, the thesis explores the ways in which these anti-obesity policies and discourses are brought into family life, lived, experienced, and made meaningful, contributing to critical obesity geographies and broader literature on bodies, parenting, care, and consumption. The thesis draws on research interviews and focus groups with parents, in which accounts of parenting practices and understandings around body size were explored in light of contemporary UK anti-obesity discourse. Using this research to explore the everyday enaction of parenting knowledges around body size, these parenting enactions are investigated alongside the governance of body size and parenting, developing an account of the ways in which we can see the aims of the state enacted in everyday practices of care (Dyck et al, 2007). By paying attention to everyday practices, this thesis argues that anti-obesity discourse emerges not only through top-down practices of governance, but through mundane and personal relationships of care and engagement with bodies, food, and fat. However, caring practices are demonstrated as existing in multiplicity and the excesses of everyday life in relation to parenting and body size are given space in the thesis to challenge narrow accounts of what it means to be a ‘good’ parent or have a ‘good’ body size; it is argued that we need to take seriously the situated lay knowledges that are developed through everyday practices of care. The thesis contends that such notions of ‘good’ parenting, bodies, and size are enacted through anti-obesity discourse as a particular classed discourse of parenting knowledge and body size, which furthermore, reinforce gendered versions of bodies, parenting, and everyday life.

O imperativo da cultura surda no plano conceitual: emergência, preservação e estratégias nos enunciados discursivos / The imperative of deaf culture at the conceptual level: emergence, preservation and strategies in discursive enunciations

Gomes, Anie Pereira Goularte 28 March 2011 (has links)
This work has considered the centrality of language in order to understand how the processes of conceptualization of the term deaf culture have been constituted, as this concept has acquired a status of truth and reality that has become increasingly stronger in the academic environment. The text presents a kind of research that problematizes utterances that constitute a discursive web about deaf culture. The focus is on analyzing how deaf culture has been narrated and thought by the deaf themselves and how it has been constituted as a concept, thus acquiring a real meaning and having a fundamental role in the constitution of the deaf subject, despite acting as a closed, universal concept. The subjected knowledges of the deaf community, as a way of enunciation of this cultural discourse, have triggered the analysis. Under this blend of truths that have been socially authorized by the deaf, deaf culture has become a conceptual imperative, thus inviting us to perceive those enunciations, as well as reflect and act on them. This concept has become a device that triggers discursive practices related to deafness. This work aims at perceiving the imperative of deaf culture at the conceptual level and seeks to genealogically understand the emergence of such a theme, the truths that have supported it and the discursive strategies involved in this process.

[en] THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHERS FACING TECHNOLOGIES: KNOWLEDGES AND PRACTICES OF THE NUCLEUS OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY OF RIO DE JANEIRO / [pt] FORMAÇÃO DOCENTE EM TECNOLOGIAS: SABERES E PRÁTICAS DE UM NÚCLEO DE TECNOLOGIA EDUCACIONAL DO RIO DE JANEIRO

CARLOS ALBERTO SOBRINHO 05 November 2004 (has links)
[en] Nowadays pedagogy is inserted in a intense technological mutation of the media. Communication and technology are transforming our relationship with time and space, producing an accelerated rhythm of changes both in the world itself and in our knowledge of it. With the expansion of software and Internet resources, information and communications technologies (ICT) had opened way for a new relationship with knowledge, yet to be explored in the education and professional development of teachers. At the same time, in this context of transformations which affects both culture and teaching profession, such workers are faced with the task of constructing a new knowledge based on their actual pedagogical experience. Such knowledge must integrate the new scientific contributions to their practice. The present work discusses the professional development of teachers facing new information and communications technologies in public education. It is based: a) on the challenges that such technologies present to the pedagogical mediation; b) on the analysis of some educators on how informatics affect the formation of professors; and c) on discussions with mentors of professors of the Nucleus of Educational Technology of Rio de Janeiro (NET).

Beyond Modernity and Tradition: digital spaces for Sexuality Education in Kenya

Rinaldi, Flaminia January 2020 (has links)
The thesis carries out a critical examination of the problematic and complex dynamics aroused by the conceptual gap between the Modernity and Tradition, suggesting that such polarization is present in the way people think and talk about sex and sexuality in Kenya. Considering the difficulties of implementing Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Kenyan secondary schools, the study questions the possibility of isolating and distancing different sexual values and attitudes, and supports instead the need for a different approach to teaching sexuality, capable of bridging those differences through an inclusive language. Digital Platforms are critically examined as potential spaces for the realization of the theoretical project of an “Ecology of knowledges”, thus as places for developing respectful and comprehensive dialogue about sexuality among adolescents.

We Are the Robots : An anthropological perspective on human-robot interaction

Cupitt, Rebekah January 2010 (has links)
Abstract How do we cope with technology today? We are surrounded by machines, computers and technological devices from mobile phones to automated check- outs. These types of machines are no longer exotic in Sweden where today the average person is usually fluent in their use. But do we really have an understanding of how these objects work, is understanding necessary and how do we cope when our knowledge is lacking? This thesis is intended as an introduction to an anthropological way of look- ing at strategies people develop for understanding, using and interacting with technological objects, specifically robots. Still an exotic object, robots are more widely known-about than experienced. Based on ethnographic data, primarily gathered in two distinct workplace environments as well as interviews and video documentation, my analysis aims to illustrate the implications of defining hu- mans and robots as equally significant agents within networks whilst disputing the traditional importance given to the dichotomy of technology (non-human) and human. Whilst robots are definitely less than we expect them to be, they are still so- cial artefacts, firmly situated within social networks and meaning which manifest through human–robot interactions. Perhaps little more than tools, an ambigu- ity exists in human–robot interactions which suggests that we form quasi-social relations that could, and have been exploited by designers and engineers to broaden the range of use for technological objects. Keywords: human-robot interaction, network theory, situated knowledges, agential realism, performativity, social contextualisation of technological objects

Feminist Futures : Futures studies through the lens of feminist epistemologies / Feministiska framtider : Framtidsstudier utifrån ett feministiskt epistemologiskt perspektiv

An, Jihyun January 2017 (has links)
This study explores how futures studies could engage with critical feminist perspectives in an intrinsic manner and what feminist futures might mean. The study brings attention to the less discussed subject of epistemological basis in futures studies. Literature study and semi-structured interviews with practitioners and researchers working with feminist approaches in the fields related to futures development was deployed. I’ve analyzed Wendell Bell’s discussion on epistemological foundation of futures studies from feminist epistemological perspective, and have suggested the potential of feminist epistemology of situated knowledges and partial objectivity for futures studies. Based on the findings from the semi-structured interviews, an alternative feminist scenario set in Swedish society in the year of 2050 in the format of a fiction is presented with the aim to provide a detailed and situated narrative of political and daily lives in feminist futures. The feminist futures scenario should not be understood as the singular feminist future suggested for implementation. The intention is to demonstrate how the visionary dimensions of feminist studies could be articulated in various forms of futures studies, and to open up space for rich debates on envisioning feminist futures.
