The aim of this work is a detailed introduction to the theory of Lean six sigma management tool and verify its efficacy in practice on the individual case. Process to be improved in this work is recovery of overdue debts on english market of certain international company. Of the possible tools Lean six sigma methodologies were chosen the most suitable for a particular process and main causes of large amounts of overdue recievables were identified. As the best steps to improve the process were indentified sending statements of account to customers, improve communication quality and appealing for compliance maturity according to the rules of English banking system. With the methodology we achieved improvement on Sigma parametr on the researched process.

Syftet med arbetet är att förstå hur flaskhalsar påverkar produktiviteten genom att applicera de teoretiska kunskaperna i praktiken och sätta teorin i ett sammanhang. För att skapa en effektiv produktion bör flaskhalsar elimineras eller hanteras på bästa möjliga sätt. Detta är viktigt att arbeta med då kunden inte är villig att betala för de aktiviteter som inte är värdeskapande. Genom en fallstudie på ett fallföretag har en problemformulering arbetats fram. Det är baserat på denna problemformulering som forskningsstrategin har utformats. Fallföretaget har en kundorderstyrd produktion. De har i dagsläget en form av tryckande produktion genom hela anläggningen. Projektet ska granska sambandet mellan slutmonteringen, som ses som en flaskhals, och fyra av de olika produktionslinorna vars moduler ska gå igenom slutmonteringen. På så sätt kan bidragande faktorer till att det uppstår väntetid urskiljas. Att skapa ett dragande system från slutmonteringen är en alternativ lösning på detta problem.

Increasing competition in the industry is forcing companies in search of innovative solutions in order to grow into stronger rival. One of the ways how to achieve this is by introducing elements of lean manufacturing. The aim of this dissertation is to analyze the business processes of the company Haldy Plus - Limited. (Ltd), which operates in the paper industry and its main field of activity is the production of packaging from corrugated cardboard. The content of this thesis is getting to know the theoretical basis for lean production, the company description, identifying potential for improvements, analysis of these critical processes, and measures such as the proposal to streamline processes.

O cenário do mercado exige que as empresas desenvolvam produtos inovadores e feitos com processos eficazes. Uma das alternativas que as empresas automotivas tiveram para atingir tais objetivos é o uso de sistemas de produção enxuta (SPE). Neste contexto, este trabalho apresenta diretrizes para reprojeto de células de manufaturas enxutas. A aplicação do método é ilustrada por meio do caso de reprojeto de uma célula em uma fábrica de autopeças. A célula foi reprojetada em função da necessidade de adaptação à entrada de um novo produto demandado por um dos principais clientes. Como ponto de partida para o reprojeto, a célula existente foi analisada segundo o nível de uso da produção enxuta, por meio de uma ferramenta de avaliação das práticas de produção enxuta disponível na literatura. Essa aplicação permitiu aperfeiçoar a ferramenta de avaliação e identificar oportunidades de melhoria nas células. Depois disso, o reprojeto seguiu as seguintes etapas: projeto preliminar, projeto detalhado e planejamento da implementação das novas células de manufatura. Contudo, os resultados satisfatórios de um Processo de Desenvolvimento de Produtos (PDP) dependem da comunicação entre as etapas e atividades relativas ao processo e a necessidade de integração interfuncional. / The scenario of the market requires that companies develop innovative products and with effective processes. One of the alternatives that the automotive companies had to achieve these goals is to use the lean production systems. In this context, this paper presentsguidelines to redesign lean manufacturing cells, an auto parts factory. Cells were redesigned according one need to adapt to the entry of a new product demanded by a major customer. As a starting point for redesign, existing cells were analyzed according to the level of use of lean production, using an assessment tool of lean production practices available literature. This application allowed improving the assessment tool and identifies opportunities for improvement in the cells. After that, redesign involved the following steps: preliminary design, defining the detailed design and planning of the implementation of new manufacturing cells. However, a satisfactory result of a PDP depends on the communication between the steps and activities related to the process and the need cross-functional integration.

Esta integração permitiu uma produção mais enxuta e limpa, do ponto de vista ambiental. Dentro deste contexto, foi possível avaliar o impacto econômico de um caso real na sociedade brasileira. Para sua realização, foi necessário investigar e conhecer os possíveis modelos de negócio e tecnologias aplicáveis a este tipo de mercado, bem como as principais ferramentas mais aplicáveis de análise econômica. Durante esta investigação, fez-se necessário inicialmente realizar um estudo sobre o mercado de biodiesel brasileiro, seus modelos de negócio, sistemas de produção e aplicabilidades quanto a análise insumo-produto no estudo econômico de um caso real. Uma vez definido um modelo apropriado de produção para um caso real, elaborou-se uma análise experimental dos seus impactos na geração de empregos e na produção (Produto Interno Bruto - PIB) brasileira. Resultados adicionais mostraram a importância do mercado de biodiesel brasileiro e a relevância de um estudo econômico em projetos de engenharia e de negócios. Os principais resultados desta pesquisa apontam para a importância de futuros estudos econômicos em projetos de engenharia e negócios, tanto no mercado de biocombustíveis quanto em outros domínios de conhecimentos análogos / Abstract: In this master's thesis, it was investigated, designed, and developed a business model for production and integration of a catalyst in a complex of biodiesel production in Brazil. This integration allowed a leaner and cleaner production, regarding an environmental point of view. Within this context, it was possible to assess the economic impact of a real case in the Brazilian society. For its realization, it was necessary to investigate and understand possible business models and technologies applicable to this type of market as well as the main applicable tools of economic analysis. During this investigation, it was necessary to initially conduct a study on the Brazilian biodiesel market, their business models, production systems and applicability of the input-output analysis in the economic study of a real case. Once set an appropriate production model to a real case, it was elaborated an experimental analysis of the impacts on job creation and Brazilian production (Gross Domestic Product - GDP). Additional results show the importance of the Brazilian biodiesel market and the relevance of an economic study in engineering and business. Syftet med studien är att öka kunskapen och förståelsen inom effektivisering av interna resurser på ett tillverkande företag, för att sedan kunna ge förslag på förbättringar inom verksamheten. Studien utfördes på Smålandsvillan AB som ligger i Vrigstad och tillverkar modulhus i trä. En materialkartläggning låg till grund för arbetet och ett antal slöserier och brister kunde identifie­ras. Genom att analysera det empiriska materialet tillsammans med studiens framtagna teorier kunde en identifiering av företagets slöserier genereras. Dessa slöserier orsakades till stor del av bristande struktur på företaget. Genom observationer på företaget framkom också ett antal brister i arbetsmiljön längs med produkt­ionslinan. I resultatdelen togs förslag fram som eliminerar dessa slöserier och brister, och genom detta bidra till en effektivare resurshantering. I slutet av arbetet besvaras forskningsfrågan, även rekommendationer presenteras och det förklaras hur de kommer hjälpa företaget om de skulle implementeras.

The diploma thesis is concerned with the implementation of lean components in the production process of selected company. Through the Value Stream Mapping method an analysis of the current state is performed that resulted several shortcomings of the current production process. Based on the outcomes of the analysis, proposal of new production line is made that contributes to increased customer value within a shorter production time, reduce waste and thus to streamlining the production process.

The diploma thesis is focused on the implementation of lean production con-ditions into the production process of the selected company, analyze and find bottleneck. Aim of thesis is to eliminate the downtime of the production pro-cess to provide lean conditions for the selected section when introducing a new product and new facilities at the worplace. First part of thesis is devoted to literature review and dealingwith teheoteri-calpreparation, understanding principles and methods of lean production. Second part is dealing with analyzing production processes of product and in-dividual production operations, application of lean production methods and proposals for a new organization of the workplace.

The diploma thesis is focused on implementation of lean production through using Lean Six Sigma method into an engineering company, producing cable harnesses for the automotive industry, mainly for trucks. The aim of the project is to increase production capacity by 25 %, reduce wastage rate to 3 % and design a new layout of production areas. The budget of this project is 3 million CZK. The production was slimmed down using the 5S methodology. To meet the aim of the project, three new machines had to be bought. The steps have resulted in a saving of 64 CZK per piece, which means a return on investment in about 8 months.

This thesis is focused on lean management of the production system in the company ASSA ABLOY Czech & Slovakia s. r. o. The main outcome is the proposal of a new layout and process balancing with the use of lean manufacturing methods. The first part describes the theoretical basics which are used for analysis afterwards. The results of these analyses are then used as a main basis for the proposal of changes in the chosen part of the production process.
