No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese Walber Costa.pdf: 1564454 bytes, checksum: 72d0fbc8eea67b0d1cd09b71cdef6af6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2005-06-16 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Abstract The present study seeks to contribute for a deeper in the quarrels discussions the labor relations in Brazil starting from the new productive processes from current flexible standard of capitalist accumulation model. For this, it is had as objective to study such relationships in an important sector for the national economy: the meats industry. A sector that, in spite of its importance, has been little studied with refers to the pertinent questions to the relationship between the capital, the work and the State. As geographic and timed clipping, it was opted to making a study in the Meso-region of the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba from the years of 1990. The basic hypothesis of the work is of that the impacts that the transformations in the organizations and the productive processes have on the labor relationships should not be considered from a determinist way, because they depends on the environment (economic, cultural, social and politician) in which they are inserted. This hypothesis was confirmed to the measure that if studied environments meso and micro-regulations of the labor relations in meat industry of the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba. What was observed is that, to that seems, this relation is much more fragile. Also, this can be the clarifying factor of the great investments that have occurred in the region in this industry. Of this form, a change in the labor relation system of the country, of a standard legislated for one negotiated, does not have to be carried through without taking in consideration the great differences of being able of negotiation in the most diverse sectors and regions of the country. Without these considerations, the risk of a still bigger growth in the existing polarities already exist in the Brazilian's labor market.

Through a dialectical approach, analyzing by means of reasoning such as inductive, deductive and analogical fundamental rights, legal and historical aspects, this study seeks to demonstrate the resilience of the classical model of labor law, due to the changes that have occurred contemporary society due to globalization, against the imposition and effectiveness of fundamental rights to private, to enable its effectiveness in work relationships, including as a way to limit the directive power of the employer, demonstrating their fundamental rights, both individual and social, by workers / Esse trabalho aborda os direitos fundamentais, sociais e da personalidade, e sua atuação nas relações privadas, com maior enfoque nas laborais, com o intuito de verificar a possibilidade de sua incidência nas relações trabalhistas, superando um direito do trabalho exclusivamente econômico-financeiro, visando a prevalência da dignidade da pessoa humana, exatamente através dos direitos fundamentais.

Um estudo sobre a mudança no processo de trabalho em tecnologia da informação: percepções, dilemas e desafios / A study on the transformation of the work process in the information technology: challenges and dilemmas

Paulilo, Marcio Giachetta 17 February 2006 (has links)
This study regards to information technology and labor relations. The main goal of such research was to analyze the transformations arise within some patterns of pre-stablished professional relationships inside a organization, after the introduction of a new thecnology, such as a Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP). The great question to be investigated was what is to be done in order to simultaneously attend to the employees? and the company?s interests, based upon the belief that the comprehension of the personnel?s perception on the process of development and implementation of an ERP serves both to the academy and the market. The preferential research method applied was the observation, conducted throughout an exploratory research, based upon bibliography, documentation and pre-structured interviews. The adopted case of study refers to the Brazilian subsidiary of a transnational company, which experienced the implementation of an ERP simultaneously with its process of privatization, by the late 1990?s. People from two organizations involved in the same process of system implementation were interviewed, allowing the comparison between two different groups of professionals -- the consultants, hired for developing and implementing the system, and the users, responsible for providing information to configure the ERP. The sample used on the research is non-probabilistic, composed by the accessibility criteria. There is no intention of affirming that the hereby results are representative for the entire possible universe of research. The hereby results demonstrate point of perception agreement and points of perception discordance, either within the different hierarchy levels of the same organization, or within same levels of different organizations.

Capital Visions : The Politics of Transnational Production in Nicaragua

Tornhill, Sofie January 2010 (has links)
In processes of economic integration, neoliberal discourse and corresponding notions of development comprise some of the most readily available imaginaries of political and social interaction and change. However, these processes are always also locally produced and negotiated. Engaging with discourse theory, Marxism and postcolonial feminist theory, this dissertation brings together “macro” and “micro” aspects of globalization. The aim is to interrogate discursive reinforcements of and challenges to global orders of production and divisions of labor. With a focus on representations of Free Trade Zones (FTZs), which are tax-exempted enclaves for export production, the study explores competing meanings attributed to the operation of transnational capital in Nicaragua. Based on policy documents, political speeches, promotional videotapes and interviews, the political rhetoric of two governments with competing agendas is analyzed: the neoliberal/conservative government of the Liberal Constitutionalist Party (2002–2007), which framed the FTZs in terms of national progress, and the leftist government of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (2007– ), which attempts to reconnect to the country’s revolutionary past. In this way efforts to formulate legitimate political agendas in the context of shifting relations between states and markets are detailed, together with constructions of citizens and workers along differentiations of class and gender. Relying on interviews with FTZ workers, the study examines ways to interpret, inhabit or resist imperative subject positions at the intersections of contending projects of nation-building and transnational orders of production, in conjunction with a discussion of the uneasy distinction between representation and appropriation that troubles transnational feminist research projects.

The Next Catalyst for Change: How Corporate Shared Value is Reshaping Capitalism

Davenport, Emily 01 January 2011 (has links)
Both corporations and their global conglomerates are looking into the face of an evolving idea of capitalism. As businesses become more intertwined with society, this special relationship is becoming increasingly deterministic of the condition of the world. This paper explores the possibility that if businesses integrate shared value -- a way to combine economic and social value -- into their long-term business plans, that not only will society be better off, but the businesses themselves may be able to explore previously unrecognized potential for profits.

Benevolent vs. Hostile Sexism Impact on Work Performance for Women in Turkey

Bonneau-Kaya, Crystal M. 01 May 2010 (has links)
All studies to date that have assessed the direct impact of benevolent vs. hostile sexism on performance outcomes have done so in the context of a Western society. Because of this void in the literature, it remained unknown how living in a low egalitarian and/or non-Western society may impact women's experiences of sexism. The purpose of this study is to address this gap in the literature. This study investigates the impact of benevolent vs. hostile sexism on women in four Turkish textile factories. 210 Turkish female textile factory workers were randomly assigned to the benevolent sexism, hostile sexism, or control condition. Performance and level of gender identification were measured. The results of this study indicated that while participants were impacted by sexism, the impact of benevolent vs. hostile sexism resulted in different outcomes than for women in higher egalitarian Western Societies.

Germain, Danielle 09 1900 (has links)
Highly skilled immigrant women face numerous obstacles upon their arrival in Quebec with regards to their professional and economic integration. A lack of recognition of foreign qualifications, discriminatory business practices, as well as strategies and family obligations represent difficulties that lead to the deskilling of many immigrant women. Despite a high level of education before their arrival, many of them will opt for a return to school in the hope that a local diploma will improve their occupational status. This research paper focuses on the professional reorientation of highly skilled immigrant women. It examines the course of reorientation as a continuum in four stages, namely, the decision to undergo training, career choices, training process and access to employment related to that training. The objective of this research paper is to explore the impact of the barriers that immigrant women face upon arrival in Quebec and along the course of reorientation. The results obtained from interviews conducted with twelve immigrant women indicate an important decrease in the degree of deskilling upon attainment of a local diploma. Although this coping strategy seems to be working in this regard, the results also depict the persistence of certain obstacles. Trajectory analysis reveals a cascading effect from one step of the process to the next.

Poulin, Joanne 04 1900 (has links)
Younger generation workers are often accused of being less engaged and less united in militant activities than the previous generations. The general aim of this research is to demystify the prejudices surrounding the commitment towards union activities of today’s young Quebecois. To do it, diverse concepts are presented as that of youth, generation and militant commitment. An assessment on the historic evolution of the militating commitment as well as the particular situation of the contemporary youth in the industrial action allow to draw up a general portrait. Our theoretical frame rests on concepts of individualism and conflict. The qualitative approach and the semi-directed interview were retained. The result of our survey led with seventeen mailmen and mailwomen of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (Montreal section) reveals that the militant commitment of the young people is at the same time the reflection of an alienation and a different way of conceiving militant commitment. The young people are not more individualistic than members of the other generations but they know little about the trade unionism. On one hand, the young union members take a step backwards to better appropriate the labor-union matter. It is possible to maintain that the militant commitment is not a static phenomenon, it evolves in contact of experience. On other hand, weakly socialized in the trade unionism and strongly socialized to law matters, to dialogue and to respect, they dread the violent driving and the warlike speeches. The later have softened vision without therefore passive, because they promote collective action and have more opportunities to deposit grievances.
