_______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Harold Lasswell is commonly cited by authors of the field of communication as one of its pioneers, regarding the study of propaganda in the early twentieth century and also in relation to the development of the communication field, with the creation of the famous model that bears his name. The traditional narrative of the history of the field of communication states that it was this model is responsible for the organization of research in communication and ranked areas: the study of the sender, the study of the message, the study of the channel, the study of the receiver, the study of effects. However, there is hardly a more qualified of his work or a more detailed explanation of his theories, including his model. This thesis seeks to scrutinize the relationships between communication field and Harold Lasswell, trying to understand how the field of communication builds the figure of this researcher as one of its founding fathers. We seek to analyze the Lasswell’s communication works, from a historical and epistemological view, making critical remarks of his contributions to the field of communication studies.

Ritzman, Amanda January 2016 (has links)

Thibault, Jérôme 14 June 2021 (has links)

Applying Psychological Theories of Personality, Identity, and Intergroup Conflict to Radical Violence: A Case Study of Extremist Behavior

Flynn, Sydney 01 January 2018 (has links)
This paper aims to address possible psychoanalytical explanations for the heinous acts in which terrorists, particularly ISIS, engage. It focuses on Harold D. Lasswell’s principles of the id, ego, and superego as well as Tajfel and Turner’s social identity theory. Within the framework of these two theories, relevant psychological and social psychological theories are discussed in order to explore a possible connection between the psyche of violent perpetrators and their actions. By exploring these connections, I find that there may be more nuanced psychological explanations for these violent acts, which could lead to new methods of weakening perceived biases, intergroup conflicts, and extremist behavior.
