教科書產業多角化經營之研究-資源基礎理論觀點 / A Study on Diversification Strategy of Textbook Industry- The resource-based theory perspective

教科書是教師教學活動的主要媒介,是學生獲得知識的主要來源,它負有傳遞知識與社會價值的任務,在內容編輯上要符合理想的教育思想,配合社會時代的發展,更須適應學生不同成長及知識學習的需要,因此占有十分重要的地位。然而在教學現場及學生的學習歷程中,除了教科書,還包含習作、學習單、教學指引、教學活動、教具、數位媒體、實驗、補充材料和延伸閱讀等,這些伴隨著教科書主體的產物,形成了教科書的產業。 台灣的中小學教科書原為統編制,自民國78年開放國中藝能科教科書予民間編輯、出版,至民國85年國小學科教科書開放,當時投入民編教科書的出版業者達14家,投入後才發現要進入市場的門檻甚高,內容須不斷與時俱進,加上印刷、發行、物流、運送、尊重著作權等要素,已非過去全數利用政府資源來編輯、發行的狀況。加上台灣少子化嚴重,物價上揚,書價無法由業者自主,教科書的產業處於極微利的狀況,出版業者要永續發展是一個很重要的課題。 本研究將以資源基礎理論(Resource-Base Theory, RBT)來探討企業多角化策略的成效,以K文教事業為例,討論的問題如下三點: 一、台灣教科書產業的發展過程與演進 二、台灣總體環境,如政策、少子化等因素對教科書產業經營之影響 三、教科書產業如何運用既有的資源進行多角化策略成功與失敗因素分析 本論文採用個案研究方法,透過相關文獻回顧,以Amit & Livnat(1988)針對多角化策略經營的觀點,著重在既有資源能力的延伸、新能力的建構、產品線擴充來研究;再以Grant(1991)提出的資源基礎觀點,從企業擁有的資源與能力去做探討,包括公司的研發力、採購力、生產力、行銷力等方面來說明及印證。 本研究發現,企業在進行多角化策略投資評估時,若能更具體分析出企業本身既有的能力,並與多角化策略發展有更多正面的關連,則成功的機會越大,反之則越小;最後從營收的成長來判斷其經營的效益。 / Textbooks are a major media to teaching, a main source for students to gain knowledge. They bear the responsibility to pass on knowledge and social values. The contents not only need to reflect ideal educational philosophies and social era developments, but also adapt to different growing and learning needs of the students. Their importance is without question. However, other thank textbooks, exercise books, worksheets, handbooks, teaching activities, teaching tools, digital medias, lab activities, supplementary materials, and extended readings are also part of classroom teaching and student learning progress. These ancillaries, together with the main body—textbooks, comprise the textbook industry. In the past, elementary and junior high school textbooks in Taiwan were unified and published by the government. Until 1989, textbooks of non-academic subjects were opened to private publishers for editing and publishing and in the year of 1996 elementary academic textbooks. Fourteen private publishers entered the business at that time. Not until later, they realized how high the threshold is to enter the business. The contents must keep up with social realities, not to mention other important elements such as printing, publishing, logistics, shipping and copy rights, etc. which could no longer rely on the total support and resources of the government. In addition, the exacerbating low birth rate and price inflation problems in Taiwan prohibit the publishers from setting textbook prices. As a result, the textbook industry is caught in low marginal profits. Therefore, sustainable development of publishers is an important topic to be discussed. This study uses Resource-Based Theory (RBT) to investigate the effectiveness of diversification strategy with K Educational Publishing Group as an example. The following three areas are explored: 1.The developments and evolutions of the textbook industry in Taiwan. 2.The effects of macro-environment factors, such as government policies and low birth rate on Taiwan textbook industry. 3.The analysis on successful and unsuccessful factors of using existing resources for diversification strategy by the textbook industry. This research utilizes case study method. Through literature review, the diversification strategy management perspective by Amit & Livnat (1988) is used in the study with the focuses on the extension of existing resources and skills, constructing new abilities and expanding product lines. In addition, this study also employs resource-based perspective proposed by Grant (1991) to explore the resources and abilities of the enterprise, such as the company’s research and development, purchasing, and marketing abilities as explanations and validations. The results indicate that if the enterprise could objectively analyze its existing abilities when engaging in diversification strategy investment evaluations and have more positive connections with diversification strategy developments, it will have greater chance to success, otherwise smaller. Lastly, revenue growths can be used to evaluate management effectiveness of the enterprise.

人力資源教育訓練遊戲化學習成效之研究 / Research into Learning Effectiveness of Gamified Human Resource Training Program

教育訓練對於企業的營運是很重要的,但是一般教育訓練的內容有時並不是很有趣,而且當教育訓練的內容是傾向沒有唯一解答的主題時,企業也不容易透過傳統上課、閱讀教材或考試等方法了解員工是否真的理解教育訓練所要傳達的觀念。 本研究希望以一種新的教育訓練模式提升員工參與教育訓練的動機和意願,並同時達到一定程度的學習成效,因此本研究在企業教育訓練之中加入遊戲化 (gamification)和冒險遊戲 (adventure game)的要素,將員工玩遊戲的動機轉化為學習的動力。而為了了解這種新的教育訓練模式的學習成效,本研究以人壽業T公司的遊戲化教育訓練課程為例,收集T公司員工實際進行課程的學習紀錄進行分析。 經過資料分析之後,本研究認為員工對於這種新的教育訓練模式有一定程度的參與意願和完成課程的動機之外,同時也能夠達到和傳統教育訓練差不多的學習成效。而且,與一般傳統的教育訓練方法相較,這種新的教育訓練模式可以以相對較少的時間與力氣實施員工的學習難點分析,能夠幫助企業快速找到員工需要加強的部分,進而實施更符合員工特性的相關課程內容或宣導活動。 / Human resource training programs are important to enterprises, but the contents of these training programs are sometimes not very interested to employees. On the other hand, when the contents of training programs have characteristics of high flexibility, it is hard for managers to evaluate whether employees really understand the concepts of training programs by traditional methods such as lectures, reading materials or exams. This research aims to propose a new human resource training method to increase employees’ motivation and willingness to join training programs, and to achieve a certain level of learning effectiveness as well. In this new training method, skills of gamification and adventure game are applied. To examine the learning effectiveness of this new training method, a gamified human resource training program of Company T is studied. Data from employees of Company T, who have been actually joining this gamified training program, is collected and analyzed. This study addresses that the employees are willing to join this gamified training program, and are motivated to complete the program. At the same time, the learning effectiveness of the program is equivalent to that of traditional training programs. Moreover, compared to traditional training programs, gamified training program enables managers to easily analyze learning weak points of their employees, which is helpful for enterprises as they implement further training programs or campaign that are more suitable for their employees.

Mobile Learning Effectiveness in Higher Education

This research investigates mobile learning effectiveness in higher education. Mobile learning is composition of two words Mobile and Learning. In simple words mobile learning is mobility of learners by using mobile technologies in learning environment. Many researches addressed mobile learning but few of them covered mobile learning effectiveness. This study explores mobile learning effectiveness with the help of learning theories and models. Behaviorist, cognitive, humanistic, situational, and mobile learning theories are discussed that elaborate social, psychological, and philosophical aspects of learning.  Detailed evolution of learning is also part of this report that covers the literature of distance learning, electronic learning as well as formal and informal learning. Three effective learning models are taken in consideration: the Garrison’s Community of Inquiry, the Swan’s Interactivity and Online Learning, and the Danaher and his colleagues’ model of mobile learning and teaching evaluation model. Danaher’s model is selected as a conceptual framework of the study that is composed of three elements that are engagement, presence and flexibility. Engagement is the active participation of the learner in learning activities. Presence means being there, physically or mentally, in learning activity or place. Flexibility is how easy and facilitative the system is for teachers and students. These three elements are used to determine mobile learning effectiveness.  Survey method was used as our research approach. Empirical data was collected from Linnaeus University (prev. Växjö University) Sweden, by using two separate questionnaires for students and teachers. Collected data was analyzed with respect to learning theories and the theoretical model. The result reveals the potential of mobile learning as an effective mode of learning in terms of engagement and presence but flexibilty approved to be weaker in mobile learning.

The relevance of the research is due to the realization of new educational technologies in the system of general education, including programmed learning. The main drawback of the development of training programs is the imperfection in IT-technologies. The purpose of the master's thesis is to create a programmed learning system. The novelty of the thesis is obtaining a package of semi-formalized and mathematical models of an automated system of programmed learning. Training programs applied in the educational process and showed an increase in the level of student learning. / Актуальность темы обусловлена реализацией в системе общего образования новых педагогических технологий, одна из которых – программированное обучение. При этом основной недостаток разработки обучающих программ – несовершенство в поддержке ИКТ. Целью магистерской диссертации является создание системы программированного обучения. Научная новизна работы заключена в получении пакета полуформализованных и математической моделей автоматизированной системы программированного обучения. На основании этих моделей получены обучающие программы, примененные в учебном процессе и показавшие рост уровня обученности учащихся. Экономическая эффективность предлагаемого решения доказана методом NPV: прогнозируемое значение показателя NPV за 12 месяцев реализации проекта перешло нулевой порог.

An evaluation of the influence of e-learning in adult education with special reference to the employees of Parliament RSA

This study was devoted to researching the effectiveness of e-learning, in terms of the reported experiences of the Language Services section employees in Parliament RSA. At present, the internet is seen as a successful and influential educational tool in both academic and corporate institutions. Academically, it has been adopted for e-learning methods of teaching and learning. It is perceived as a cost-effective method of providing lifelong education. It is important to know about the pros and cons of e-learning in adult education and compare them with the experiences of the people who are and have been engaged in adult education. To create an adult education skills development framework that can be used successfully in e-learning, it is important to get information about and from the people concerned regarding their learning experiences. To understand more about the influence of e-learning, this study administered a questionnaire to the employees of the Language Services Section of Parliament who participated in the pilot learning programmes offered by Parliament. The questionnaire was designed to gather structured responses from the participants in the inquiry. The results were studied and applied to draw recommendations for what can be improved in the programme to promote and endorse continuing learning experiences as is the aim of the in-house programme offered by Parliament. The study also has relevance in terms of a discussion of issues that arise in the literature on adult education, which were located as part of the study. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. Towards the use of interactive simulation for effective e-learning in university classroom environment

In this PhD thesis, the utilisation of interactive simulation in a higher education e-learning classroom environment was explored and its effectiveness was experimentally evaluated by engaging university students in a classroom setting. Two case studies were carried out for the experimental evaluation of the proposed novel interactive simulation e-learning tool. In the first case study, the use of interactive agent-based simulation was demonstrated in teaching complex adaptive system concepts in the area of ecology to university students and its effectiveness was measured in a classroom environment. In a lab intervention using a novel interactive agent-based simulation (built in NetLogo). For the purpose of teaching complex adaptive systems such as the concept of spatially-explicit predator prey interaction to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the University of Stirling. The effectiveness of using the interactive simulation was investigated by using the NetLogo software and compared with non-interactive simulation built using R programming language. The experimental evaluation was carried out using a total of 38 students. Results of this case study demonstrates that the students found interactive agent-based simulation to be more engaging, effective and user friendly as compare to the non-interactive simulation. In the second case study, a novel interactive simulation game was developed (in NetLogo) and its effectiveness in teaching and learning of complex concepts in the field of marine ecology was demonstrated. This case study makes a twofold contribution. Firstly, the presentation of a novel interactive simulation game, developed specifically for use in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the area of marine ecology. This novel interactive simulation game is designed to help learners to explore a mathematical model of fishery population growth and understand the principles for sustainable fisheries. Secondly, the comparison of two different methods of using the interactive simulation game within the classroom was investigated: learning from active exploration of the interactive simulation game compared with learning from an expert demonstration of the interactive simulation game. The case study demonstrated the effectiveness of learning from passive viewing of an expert demonstration of the interactive simulation game over learning from active exploration of the interactive simulation game without expert guidance, for teaching complex concepts sustainable fishery management. A mixed methods study design was used, using both quantitative and qualitative methods to compare the learning effectiveness of the two approaches, and the students’ preferences. The investigation was carried out by running interventions with a mixture of undergraduate and postgraduate students from the University of Stirling in a classroom environment. A total of 74 participants were recruited from undergraduate and postgraduate level for both case studies. This thesis demonstrated through two case studies effectiveness of the proposed novel interactive simulation in university e-learning classroom environment.

Цель исследования – изучение применения информационных платформ в образовательном процессе с целью повышения эффективности обучения слушателя. Объект исследования – информационная платформа и ее влияние на процесс обучения слушателя. Предмет исследования – процесс дополнительного обучения слушателей. Научная новизна исследования состоит в разработке методических положений по повышению эффективности обучения слушателя. В первом разделе рассматриваются общие вопросы: понятие, сущность и классификация сайтов, сравнение способов создания сайтов и разработка требований к сайтам образовательных организаций. Во втором проведен анализ платформ для создания онлайн курсов самостоятельно. Третий раздел посвящен общей характеристике предприятия, анализу бизнес-процессов, построению полной модели предприятия, оценке экономической целесообразности его внедрения. Результаты работы – практическим результатом работы стала разработка проекта по созданию информационной платформы для предприятия «Умник» и экономическая выгода от внедрения этой информационной системы. / The purpose of the study is to study the use of information platforms in the educational process in order to increase the effectiveness of student learning. The object of the study is the information platform and its impact on the student’s learning process. The subject of the study is the process of additional training for students. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the development of methodological provisions to increase the effectiveness of student learning. The first section discusses general issues: the concept, essence and classification of sites, comparison of methods for creating sites and development of requirements for sites of educational organizations. The second contains an analysis of platforms for creating online courses independently. The third section is devoted to the general characteristics of the enterprise, analysis of business processes, construction of a complete model of the enterprise, and assessment of the economic feasibility of its implementation. Results of the work - the practical result of the work was the development of a project to create an information platform for the Umnik enterprise and the economic benefits from the implementation of this information system.
