Terapie poruch hlasu / Therapy of Voice Disorders

Horáková, Michaela January 2016 (has links)
TITLE: Therapy of voice disorders AUTHOR: Michaela Horáková DEPARTMENT: Department of special education SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Miroslava Kotvová ABSTRACT: This diploma thesis deals with the voice disorders and their treatment options. The character of the thesis is mostly theoretical and the thesis is divided into four general parts. The first one elaborates the anatomy and physiology of the vocal tract as a basis for understanding mechanisms of voice pathology development, the second one is devoted to voice disorders and their categorization, and the third part deals with their therapy, as the czech literature reflects it. The last part of this thesis is dedicated to voice disorders therapy in the United States with a practical focus on therapeutical program Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) widely used abroad during the treatment of voice disorders especially connected to Parkinson disease. The program is considered to be very effective and it is really popular outside of the Czech republic. LSVT is not well known in the Czech republic yet and there is actually only limited information devoted to this type of voice therapy. For this reason the thesis is based on analysis and comparison of the available foreign texts in order to inform the czech public about its theoretical basis, structure and system,...

The Effects of Politics and Media on America: Creating the Role of Lainie Wells in Lee Blessing's Two Rooms

Brown, Arielle B, Brown, Arielle B 13 May 2016 (has links)
Two Rooms, by Lee Blessings, was selected for performance at the University of New Orleans during the fall of 2015. I studied and portrayed the role of Lainie Wells as my thesis project. The purpose of my thesis was to research a character physically, psychologically, and emotionally as an actress and create a character through the eyes of Lainie Wells. The following is a brief breakdown of the structure of my written thesis: biography of Lee Blessing, hostage families and their mental state as it relates to the Iranian hostage crisis, mass media effects on Syria, The Hunt for Bin Laden, the rehearsal process, and a scored script including all actions and objectives; a review of my work, my own conclusions based on my process and character arc, photographs of my performance, a professional headshot along with my resume to highlight the significance to my work as an artist.

Den individuella läsupplevelsen : En komparativ receptionsstudie av Sven Delblancs roman Änkan och Mara Lees roman Ladies utifrån tre teorier om litterär kompetens / The Individual Reading Experience : A comparative reception study of Sven Delblanc's novel Änkan and Mara Lee's novel Ladies based on three theories about literary competence

Lord, Agnes January 2018 (has links)
The purpose with this essay is to investigate how different theories about literary competence can help us understand why Sven Delblanc’s novel Änkan and Mara Lee’s novel Ladies have generated so many various interpretations as they have. To fulfill this purpose a comparative study of book reviews about the two novels Änkan and Ladies has been made. The theories about literary competence that have been used in this study are Joseph Appleyard’s theory about reader-roles, Judith Langer’s theory about imaginary worlds and Magnus Persson’s theory about genre perspectives. The results that are presented in this study are that those book reviews that express expectations about the novels as being genre-typical are often more disappointed about the reading experience than those readers who have expectations about the novels as being genre-transgressing and with deeper meaning. The discussion about genres has therefore given an interesting perspective about the correlation between the readers’ expectations and the many, various interpretations that follow.

Margem à mostra: limiares narrativos em Suzy Lee e Angela Lago / Showed border: narrative thresholds in Suzy Lee and Angela Lago

Our main purpose is to contribute to studies on children’s literature’s theory and criticism, pointing out how the authors broaden up the interpretative potential for their picture-books, in its materiality and visuality, by exploring the use of the codex’s borders as structures for pictorial narratives. In addition to the theory focused on the specific critics of literature for children and young adults (Sarah Dowhower, Maria Nikolajeva, Sophie Van der Linden, Maria José Palo) and the studies on the book as an art form (Julio Plaza, Johanna Drucker, Maria do Carmo de Freitas Veneroso, Paulo Silveira), bibliographies on the concepts of the binding fold dialectics (Michel Melot) and the threshold (Walter Benjamin, Jeanne Marie Gagnebin, Georges Didi-Huberman) are also mobilized. This passage from literary criticism to the artistic philosophy about the book as an object, culminating in the interdisciplinarity of literature and art criticism, aims to re-present and re-know this artistic phenomenon, the picture-book, in the potential of its hybridity, occupying a threshold space between artist’s books and children’s books / A presente dissertação visa refletir sobre a margem que narra nas obras Sombra (2010), da sul-coreana Suzy Lee, e O cântico dos cânticos (1992), da brasileira Angela Lago.

How Disassociating the Past Reassociates the Present: Distilling the Magic out of Magic Realism in Susan Power’s The Grass Dancer

Lewis, Abby N. 01 May 2017 (has links)
American Indian author Susan Power’s novel The Grass Dancer is often categorized as magical realism, yet Power has stated the novel is a representation of her reality and that it is not a magical realist text. The term magical realism was first applied to the work of Latin American authors such as Gabriel García Márquez whose writing depicts magical events in a matter-of-fact narrative tone. It has since expanded to include other cultures. The question is whether it is a term that can readily be applied to the literary work of all cultures. The closest Wendy B. Faris, one of the most prominent experts on magical realism, comes to discussing the term in relation to the work of American Indian authors is by simply acknowledging Ojibwe writer Louise Erdrich’s label as a magical realist author. In order to aid Power in her rejection of the association, I delve into both her Dakota heritage and her life through the lens of biographical criticism in order to obtain a working image of her reality. By locating and examining the seeds of truth in her fiction, I explain the magical qualities of her novel in a rational and logical manner.

The modern mutual funds performance research on Taiwan's open - end common stock mutual funds

Chan, Yen-Chang Unknown Date (has links)
Mutual Funds Investment will be very popular! While the professional institutionalist's participation being promoted, domestic stock market environment has beenchanged structurally. In the future, accompanied by several reasons such us the_maturationof stock market, dramatic increasing in listed company numbers and more complex correlation in international financial markets, the age stressing on professional financial adversary will come. "Professional financial investment and adversary" will substitute for"Self-adversary" investment. Therefore, measuring the mutual fund's performance is the mailmotivation of my study', and the insight in selectivity ability and market timing ability will bethe subject for further research. The research model is based on the Lee-Rahman's modified model (1990), that is, the model structure was first built by Treynor & Mazuy (1966), improved by Jensen in Timingability measurement, and then revised by Bhattacharya & Pfleiderer (1983), and throughout structured by solving the "heteroscedasticity" in error terms of regressions finally Therefore, the better integral research model on measuring selectivity ability a timing abilityhas been accomplished. Meanwhile, we also use three traditional performance measure(Treynor, Sharpe & Jensen index) to be the general performance research. Empirical results show that (1)By measuring the general performance of mutual funds, we know that about 60%-70% funds managers beat market at each research period, and there exists consistency of fund's performance ranking among those three measures. (2) By using Lee-Rahman modified model (1990), we got three conclusions. First, for those funds consist of selectivity and timing ability, there exists consistency. In bull market period, timing ability of most funds performed better generally, and new funds had better performance. (3) Integral comparative conclusions have four results. First, no matter what measures being used, empirical results confirm stability and consistency in performance ranking. Second, significant timing ability is not the determinate factor of significant performance, significant selectivity ability plays the determinate role. Third, in Taiwan, bottom-up investment strategy gradually substitutes for top-down investment strategy. Finally, new mutual funds investment co. had outperformed old mutual funds investment institutions.
