Os pressupostos te?rico-metodol?gicos adotados seguem, portanto, a Teoria da Varia??o Ling??stica (Labov, 1972, 1994). Neste estudo foi poss?vel concluir que a palataliza??o das oclusivas dentais ? uma regra vari?vel sujeita aos condicionamentos de vari?veis ling??sticas e sociais e que a aplica??o da regra parece ser um fen?meno vari?vel de mudan?a em progresso

Previous issue date: 2009-01-22 / A meta principal desta tese ? a realiza??o de um estudo descritivo explanat?rio dos adjetivos predicativos descritivos voltados para o sujeito, tendo em vista a sua utilidade para o aperfei?oamento de sistemas computacionais que necessitam processar a linguagem natural. Primeiramente, retomam-se os estudos mais relevantes acerca dos adjetivos em geral com intuito de evidenciar que eles formam uma classe de palavras com comportamento sint?ticosem?ntico muito peculiar, em especial, em contextos de dupla predica??o. Para melhor compreender as quest?es implicadas nesses contextos, investe-se na descri??o das eventualidades denotadas pelo predicado prim?rio e pelo adjetivo predicativo descritivo por este ser um caminho que aponta a rela??o entre l?xico, sintaxe e sem?ntica. Buscam-se abordagens sem?nticas que tentam descrever n?o s? as propriedades de tais eventualidades, mas tamb?m a rela??o entre elas. Para representar a rela??o entre as eventualidades denotadas pelo predicado prim?rio e pelo adjetivo predicativo descritivo, baseia-se em abordagens que n?o visam apenas configurar os fen?menos da linguagem e sua resolu??o, mas tamb?m ? efici?ncia necess?ria ? sua inclus?o em aplica??es computacionais. Project Redeployment: A Financial Innovation, a Case Study of LTVLing, Robert Van 12 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine the aspects of redeployment in general terms, and then to present a case study of a specific redeployment program to analyze its effectiveness as a corporate financial tool. The first four chapters discuss the general and financial definitions of redeployment, as well as the objectives, benefits, and alternate methods of the operational asset form of redeployment. The specific redeployment program analyzed is the case study of Ling-Temco-Vought's use of the operational asset form of redeployment. The purpose of the case study was to determine if Ling-Temco--Vought achieved their stated objectives. An analysis of these objectives shows that redeployment was a success.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) located at CERN, Geneva has finally been put in production, generating unprecedented amount of data. These data are distributed across many computing centers all over the world that form the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). One of the main issues since the beginning of the WLCG project is an effective file access on the site level in order to fully exploit huge computing farms. The aim of this thesis is to explore existing data distribution work flows, standards, methods and protocols. An integral part of the work is the analysis of jobs of physicists to understand input/output workloads and to discover possible inefficiencies. Then, new upcoming solutions are evaluated in terms of performance, sustainability and integration into existing frameworks. It is expected that these solutions will be based on distributed file systems such as NFS 4.1, Lustre and HDFS.

Previous issue date: 2007-10-29 / Este estudo teve por objetivo principal conhecer e compreender os sentimentos de auto-imagem e auto-estima e as concep??es dos professores de espanhol sobre o trabalho e a contribui??o social do educador ling??stico em l?ngua estrangeira, com vistas a um redimensionamento da identidade profissional deste professor. A ancoragem te?rica desta pesquisa centrou-se em tr?s eixos: estudos te?rico-bibliogr?ficos sobre a auto-imagem e a auto-estima docentes; estudos sobre os modelos de identidade docente; e estudos sobre a educa??o ling??stica em l?ngua estrangeira. Os dados desta investiga??o quanti-qualitativa foram coletados em tr?s fases, iniciando pela aplica??o do Question?rio de auto-imagem e de auto-estima (STOB?US, 1983), seguido do question?rio de perguntas abertas e de entrevistas semi-estruturadas. A an?lise dos dados coletados est? fundamentada em an?lise de conte?do de Bardin (2004), complementados por Moraes (2006). Os resultados foram organizados em seis categorias: 1. A concep??o de educa??o ling??stica em l?ngua estrangeira, evidenciando as concep??es dos professores de l?ngua espanhola acerca de seu trabalho, categoria analisada em duas subcategorias: o ensino de cultura e a forma??o para a cidadania. 2. O papel do educador ling??stico, que trata das concep??es dos professores sobre os prop?sitos de sua pr?xis. 3. As dificuldades enfrentadas pelo educador ling??stico, que discorre sobre as dificuldades enfrentadas nos complexos contextos atuais. 4. As satisfa??es da pr?tica da educa??o ling??stica, que evidencia os sentimentos e as viv?ncias de realiza??o, analisada a partir de duas subcategorias: o sucesso no processo de ensino e aprendizagem e, o reconhecimento do trabalho docente. 5. A contribui??o social do educador ling??stico, que revela as concep??es dos professores sobre as contribui??es de seu trabalho na vida do aluno e nas sociedades contempor?neas. 6. A auto-imagem e a auto-estima, que analisa e problematiza os n?veis de auto-imagem e auto-estima dos professores participantes. Os estudos realizados evidenciam que um redimensionamento da identidade do professor de l?nguas estrangeiras, o educador ling??stico, fundamentado na autonomia e configurado em pr?ticas de letramento pode potencializar significativamente o sucesso no processo de ensino e aprendizagem de l?nguas estrangeiras, restituindo ? l?ngua estrangeira o lugar que lhe corresponde na escola p?blica regular. Previous issue date: 2009-01-15 / O presente estudo insere-se na ?rea de pesquisa da Psicoling??stica. Teve por objetivo verificar as correla??es entre o grau de desenvolvimento da consci?ncia fonol?gica e o desempenho em tarefas de compreens?o de uma hist?ria ouvida. A pesquisa abrangeu crian?as da faixa et?ria de cinco e seis anos que freq?entam escola infantil da rede privada de Porto Alegre, com amostra de 27 sujeitos. Para obter-se um perfil do desenvolvimento da consci?ncia fonol?gica desses, aplicou-se uma adapta??o do Confias (Consci?ncia Fonol?gica instrumento de avalia??o seq?encial - MOOJEN e col., 2001) e para a avalia??o do desempenho da compreens?o de uma hist?ria ouvida, utilizou-se o modelo de perguntas inferenciais a partir da leitura de uma hist?ria proposto por Brand?o e Spinillo (1998). Devido ? complexidade do processo compreensivo, que envolve diferentes mecanismos cognitivos e ling??sticos, utilizou-se a composi??o de mais de um instrumento de avalia??o, de acordo com o que prop?em Farr e Carey (1986) e Brand?o e Spinillo (1998). Acrescentou-se uma tarefa de retiradas de figuras n?o pertencentes ? narrativa ouvida; e outra de ordena??o de figuras da hist?ria com a respectiva justificativa da ordem dada. Os resultados mostraram correla??o positiva entre os escores de desempenho nos instrumentos utilizados. De forma geral, os sujeitos mais velhos apresentaram maior precis?o nas respostas ?s perguntas sobre a hist?ria em rela??o aos sujeitos mais novos, corroborando os resultados encontrados por Brand?o e Spinillo (1998), e tamb?m melhores escores de desempenho na ordena??o e justificativa da ordem das figuras. Tamb?m se verificou correla??o positiva entre o grau de desenvolvimento de consci?ncia fonol?gica dos sujeitos e o desempenho nas tarefas de compreens?o da hist?ria ouvida, especialmente considerando-se as tarefas de reconhecimento e produ??o de palavras a partir de fonema inicial. Assim, conclui-se que h? rela??o entre o grau de desenvolvimento da consci?ncia fonol?gica da crian?a e o seu desempenho em tarefas de compreens?o de hist?ria ouvida.

This study compares the physical education between two Swedish schools from 1925-1930. One school is all female while the other is all male up until the school reform of 1927 when girls got access to higher education in Sweden. The study aims to: • Study how the two different schools educated their pupils in gymnastic and sports • Compare how the all-female school differs from the boys’ school in terms of physical education. • Analyze how the school system contributed to reinforcing social gender stereotypes in Swedish society. Physical education as a subject has been a part of the Swedish educational system since the end of the 19th century. Since its introduction, the subject has seen several changes in both name and content. But for a long time, it has always contained some form of ling gymnastics. Ling gymnastics is a type of gymnastic which is known for discipline, military exercises, and controlled movements with the help of commands from a teacher. I have analyzed the annual reports of the two schools in this subject to study the differences in the two school’s application of ling gymnastics, through a theoretical framework based on gender theory. The results of the study show that there was a significant difference between the education of boys and girls. The boys’ education aimed more at making them strong and competitive while including military exercises which the girls did not. The girls’ education was more aimed at flexibility, grace, and simpler sports. This shows that the physical education system in Sweden did segregate the genders and enforced the social-gender stereotypes.
