Literatuur en maatskappykritiek : problematisering van seksualiteit in Tom Lanoye se ̀Monstertrilogie'

Joubert, Christiaan Johannes 03 1900 (has links)
This dissertation is a report on how Tom Lanoye, a contemporary Flemish author who explores themes of social relevance, deconstructs the sexual identity of his characters within the context of a postmodernist culture. The manifestation of this deconstruction process is described within those theoretical paradigms of Michel Foucault and Judith Butler that link sexual identity and social mores. For the purpose of this research Tom Lanoye‘s ‘Monster’ Trilogy was selected. Set against the backdrop of Belgium society during the late nineties of the twentieth century and highlighting the moral downfall of the Deschryver patriarchy, Lanoye’s novels address an assortment of contemporary gender and social political issues in his trilogy. These include the following: political corruption; incest; homosexuality; racism; the sexual abuse of minors; the relation between language and identity, volatile childrenparent relationships; the subversion of gender norms and sexual transformation. / Afrikaans and Theory of Literature / M.A. (Afrikaans)

Implementering van die Transvaalse onderwysdepartement se senior primêre klasmusieksillabus vanaf 1978 tot 1992 / The implementation of the Transvaal education department's senior primary class music syllabus from 1978 to 1992

Kok, Cornelia 11 1900 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / Summaries in Afrikaans and English / The supposition exists that the Transvaal Education Department's Senior Primary Class Music syllabus is not being implemented in all aspects and that this is connected to teacher training. An empirical investigation was launched using three questionnaires and a classroom field study. Two questionnaires, completed by Class Music teachers, were used to assess to what extent the school syllabus was being followed. Teachers also had to provide information about their training in Class Music teaching. The third questionnaire offered a structured interview with school principals. The actualisation of Class Music, extra curricular music activities, the role of the teacher and teacher training were examined. Lessons for standard two pupils at twenty schools, were presented for an in-depth investigation. The results were tabulated, summarised in bar graphs and interpretations rendered. According to the findings, recommendations with regard to curriculum, the implementation of the syllabus, and tertiary Class Music training were made. In 'n diepte-ondersoek is lesse by twintig skole vir standerdtweeleerlinge aangebied. Die resultate word in tabelle uiteengesit en in staafdiagramme saamgevat, terwyl waarnemings weergegee word. Op grondhiervan word aanbevelings gemaak oor kurrikulering, sillabusimplementering en tersiere Klasmusiekopleiding. / Art History, Visual Arts and Musicology / M.Mus

När Ronja blev Ronia : En komparativ stilstudie av Astrid Lindgrens Ronja Rövardotter & två av dess översättningar / When Ronja Became Ronia : A Comparative Study of the Style of Astrid Lindgren's Ronja Rövardotter & Two of Its Translations

van Lint, Linus January 2023 (has links)
Astrid Lindgren is arguably the most famous Swedish author of all times, known for her children’s books about Pippi Longstocking, the Brothers Lionheart, Ronia the Robber’s Daughter, and many more. Subsequently, her works have been translated into over a hundred languages. In Sweden her books are recognized for their peculiar, playful language, and immersive imagination. This paper is examining how that style of writing is translated to other languages. Specifically, Lindgren’s last novel Ronja Rövardotter (1981) and its translations to English, Ronia the Robber’s Daughter (1985), and Dutch, Ronja de Roversdochter (1982), are compared according to the particular elements that the novel uses to build its own unique feeling: the style of the narrator; the language of the characters; the names; and the illustrations. In the source text these four aspects collaborate to create a medieval fairy tale-like atmosphere, which especially is accomplished by the transformative language which combines older colloquialisms and dialectic words with a poetic phrasing, which is simultaneously unique for this literary work and deeply rooted in Swedish tradition. This is difficult to properly translate to other languages, as it is built upon playfulness with a certain language and culture. Therefore, even though both translations are perfectly valid and retell the story adequately, they both are incapable of fully translating the style of the original. Besides that, other (more deliberate) changes are resulting in a different reading experience – i.e., the inclusion of illustrations, the narrator’s oral (original)/textual (translated) language, and whether Ronia flees from wild ‘vittror’ (north-Swedish gnome-like creatures), harpies, or bird–witches. Altogether, the English Ronia and the Dutch Ronja are significantly different from the Swedish Ronja, with their own styles, but attributed to the same original author.
