How Learning Management Systems Support Teachers' Work : On Upper Secondary Teachers’ Thoughts on How Learning Management Systems Support Their Work and What Possible Obstacles There May be in This

Kellén, Johan, Linderyd, Karin January 2010 (has links)

En indirekt metod för adaptiv reglering av en helikopter / An indirect approach to adaptive control of a helicopter

Jägerback, Peter January 2009 (has links)
When a helicopter is flying, the dynamics vary depending on, for example, speed and position. Hence, a time-invariant linear model cannot describe its properties under all flight conditions. It is therefore desirable to update the linear helicopter model continuously during the flight. In this thesis, two different recursive estimation methods are presented, LMS (Least Mean Square) and adaptation with a Kalman filter. The main purpose of the system estimation is to get a model which can be used for feedback control. In this report, the estimated model will be used to create a LQ controller with the task of keeping the output signal as close to the reference signal as possible.Simulations in this report show that adaptive feedback control can be used to control a helicopter's angular velocities and that the possibility to use an adaptive control algorithm in a real future helicopter is good.

Adaptiv katalysatormodell för reglering / Adaptive Catalyst Model for Control

Sunnegårdh, Erik January 2002 (has links)
This master’s thesis describes the development of a model of the catalystsystem aiming at control by an MPC. A well functioning model, which is suitable in control purpose, is important while emission legislation become more and more hard to fulfill for the car manufacturers. Much research has been done in the field of physical modeling of the system, but in this work a linear adaptive time discrete ARX-model is developed and validated. The systems tendency to change its dynamic during usage implies that the model must be adaptive. The developed model proved to be well functioning and shows promising conditions for the MPC design. The system and the model are analyzed in the time- and frequency domains and the model is both implemented and validated in a Saab 9-5. The work has been performed both at Saab Automobile Powertrain AB in Södertälje and in Vehicular Systems Dept. of Electrical Engineering at Linköpings University.

Adaptive Antenna Arrays for Satellite Mobile Communication Systems

Beyene, Dereje, Degefa, Befkadu January 2010 (has links)
Adaptive antenna arrays have a great importance in reduction of the effect of interference and increase the capacity for the mobile satellite communication. Interference and multipath fading remain a main problem for reception of signals. These two problems obviously affect the overall capacity.  Adaptive antenna arrays in the handheld mobile apparatus will be the solution for the above two problems.   Satellite mobile communication is one of the growing fields in the communication area where terrestrial infrastructures are unable or ineffective to supply. Maritime, aeronautical and land mobile are some of the applications. During natural disasters where ground services are stopped, mobile satellite communications has great importance. Following the hurricane season, the Asian Tsunami and the devastating Haiti earthquake, mobile satellite communications had played a great role to fill the communication gaps.  The satellites can be tracked automatically by adaptive antenna array when it moves in its orbital plane.   In this thesis the methods that how the adaptive antenna array combats interferers is presented and simulated using MATLAB software. The performance of the adaptive antenna array is evaluated by simulating the directivity pattern of the antenna and Mean Square Error (MSE) graph for different scenario like Signal to Interference Noise ratio (SINR), number of iterations, antenna array elements and convergence factor (μ), assuming the signals are coming from different Direction of Arrival (DOA).

The Effect Of Individual Differences On Acceptance Of Web-based Learning Management System: A Case Of The Central Bank Of The Republic Of Turkey

Hanci, Arzu 01 September 2007 (has links) (PDF)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Bank employees&rsquo / individual and organization related individual differences on the acceptance of Learning Management System (LMS) in Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT). The study aims to find out whether there are differences in perceived ease of use of technology, perceived usefulness of technology, and attitudes toward the use of LMS in terms of Bank employees&rsquo / gender, age, seniority, title, department, and LMS role groups. Survey design was used in this thesis study. Two self-report questionnaires were developed on LMS acceptance for two different LMS role groups. Accordingly, these questionnaires were distributed to department managers, training experts, training researchers, office staff and participants of training programs who have experienced LMS recently in the CBRT. 167 participants, and 64 department managers and office users responded the survey significantly. The data gathered via questionnaires was analyzed with the SPSS program, using descriptive and inferential statistics where correlation analysis and ANOVA were conducted. The results of the study showed that age and seniority of &ldquo / participants&rdquo / affect the participants&rsquo / acceptance of LMS / in particular they affect the perceived usefulness of LMS. Furthermore, the department of &ldquo / department managers and office users&rdquo / affects their acceptance of LMS regarding perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and attitudes toward the use of LMS. Consequently, the results of this case study can contribute to the literature regarding the determinants of technology acceptance factors.

Adaptive Constrained DCT-LMS Time Delay Estimation Algorithm

Jian, Jiun-Je 27 June 2000 (has links)
n the problem of time delay estimation (TDE), the desired source signals of interest are correlated and with a specific spectral distribution. In such cases, the convergence speed using the conventional approaches, viz., time domain adaptive constrained and unconstrained LMS TDE algorithms, becomes slowly and the performance of TDE will be degraded, dramatically. In fact, the convergence rate depends highly on the distribution of spectral density of the desired signal sources. Also, the performance of TDE is affected by the background noises, accordingly. To circumvent the problem described above, in this thesis, a transformed domain adaptive constrained filtering scheme, refers to the constrained adaptive DCT-LMS algorithm, for TDE is devised. We show that this new proposed constrained algorithm, with the so-called direct delay estimation formula, for non-integer TDE does perform better than the conventional time domain adaptive constrained and unconstrained LMS TDE algorithms and the unconstrained adaptive DCT-LMS TDE algorithm. Finally, to further reduce the spread of eigenvalue in the unconstrained adaptive DCT-LMS algorithm, the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalizer approach realizing by the adaptive Escalator is investigated. It indicates that bias of TDE will occur without using the constraint of weight vector. That is, it could not be used to alleviate the effect due to background noises.

xml2lms - Ein Werkzeug zur Transformation XML-basierter Lerninhalte in das IMS-CP-Format

Pönisch, Jens 31 March 2008 (has links) (PDF)

Classifying learning management platforms by examining features and educational affordances

Sung, Woon Hee 18 November 2011 (has links)
Learning management systems(LMSs) have become one of the most common computer systems adopted at universities, colleges and distance learning organizations. In order to identify different features and accordance of each LMS, LMSs’ features were compared by using four different categories; communication tools, productivity and student involvement tools, course delivery tools, and administration tools. Based upon the comparison of the different features affecting different usage patterns, this paper proposes a classification of seven selected LMSs; ANGEL, Blackboard, Moodle, Sakai, WebCT, Ning and Elgg. These seven LMSs are classified into three groups according to systems’ pedagogical adaptability and technological usability. The classification seeks to understand the possibilities and limitations of what these classified groups of LMSs can accomplish and is used to suggest a suitable usage in order to support teaching and learning. The proposed classification implies the need of future exploratory case study analyzing teaching and learning practices according to the classification. / text

Ορφανού, Κωνσταντίνα 25 May 2015 (has links)
In this paper we study the evaluation of usability in the context of management learning (Learning Management Systems - LMS). The purpose of the survey conducted is the validation of the questionnaire System Usability Scale (SUS) (Brooke, 1996), a tool for assessment of usability, in this context. Additional aim of this work is the validation of the Greek translation of the questionnaire SUS, as created by Katsanos, Tselios and Xenos (2012), and then the investigation of the effects of SUS in relation to various factors, eg gender, age, etc. To achieve the objectives 11 studies were held involving a total of 771 students of the University of Patras. Participants evaluated the usability of systems eClass and Moodle, which are used within the course curriculum, by completing an anonymous questionnaire, which included the SUS. From the analysis of the data collected it was showed that the SUS questionnaire appears to be a valid usability assessment tool for learning management systems. The Greek version of the questionnaire was confirmed as suitable for evaluating the usability of LMS by students who speak Greek. Finally, findings of previous studies were confirmed (Tullis & Stetson, 2004; Bangor, Kortum & Miller, 2008; Kobsa, Sonawalla, Tsudik, Uzun, & Wang, 2009; Granića & Ćukušić, 2011; Sauro, 2011a; Kortum & Bangor, 2013), and some additional correlations between the SUS score and three factors were found: self-efficacy on the Internet, attitude towards the Internet as a learning tool and frequency of use of LMS.
