Spatial and temporal pricing support for consumer servicesRuedin, Joshua Charles 07 November 2011 (has links)
Consumer acceptance of buying goods and services online via the Internet is growing, although e-ecommerce has been mostly a mirror of traditional methods of pricing transactions – fixed price or auctions. The proliferation of personal mobile devices with pervasive Internet access and localization capability means a richer set of pricing parameters can be used. Allowing buyers and sellers to more explicitly price requests and filter offers, including information about time and place, allows for better transaction results for both parties. This paper examines the impacts of including the time and place of performance of a service as part of the price. A system for implementation is proposed, a simulation of the system is evaluated, and the results presented. / text

Exploring effects of self-disclosure and personality traits on smartphone check-in on FacebookLin, Chia-Yin 24 July 2012 (has links)
The aim of this study attempts to explore in which circumstance users would self-disclosure on Facebook with check-in behavior by considering extraversion and narcissism as psychological factors. Furthermore, in order to examine the relationships between different behaviors on Facebook, self-disclosure, exhibitionism and check-in intensity, this study used exhibitionism as the mediator to discuss if users¡¦ cognition of exhibitionism toward check-in would influence their attempt on check-in and clarify the attributes which make users behave in this way. Finally, a framework is proposed based on the results.
Purposive sampling was used in the study. Questionnaire data were collected by the Internet and totally received 523 valid respondents. The study used LISREL structural equation models to test goodness of fit, validity, and furthermore adopted full model to examine the hypotheses. The results showed that the extraversion has an impact on the extent of self-disclosure on Facebook; however, narcissism does not have a significant effect on self-disclosure. As for the relationship between self-disclosure, exhibitionism and check-in intensity, self-disclosure would directly influence the attempts at check-in intensity. On the other hand, exhibitionism would also make self-disclosure have an impact on check-in intensity as a partial mediator.

Using Volunteer Tracking Information for Activity-Based Travel Demand Modeling and Finding Dynamic Interaction-Based Joint-Activity OpportunitiesXu, Yitu 01 May 2011 (has links)
Technology used for real-time locating is being used to identify and track the movements of individuals in real time. With the increased use of mobile technology by individuals, we are now able to explore more potential interactions between people and their living environment using real-time tracking and communication technologies.
One of the potentials that has hardly been taken advantage of is to use cell phone tracking information for activity-based transportation study. Using GPS-embedded smart phones, it is convenient to continuously record our trajectories in a day with little information loss. As smart phones get cheaper and hence attract more users, the potential information source for self-tracking data is pervasive. This study provides a cell phone plus web method that collects volunteer cell phone tracking data and uses an algorithm to identify the allocation of activities and traveling in space and time. It also provides a step that incorporates user-participated prompted recall attribute identification (travel modes and activity types) which supplements the data preparation for activity-based travel demand modeling.
Besides volunteered geospatial information collection, cell phone users’ real-time locations are often collected by service providers such as Apple, AT&T and many other third-party companies. This location data has been used in turn to boost new location-based services. However, few applications have been seen to address dynamic human interactions and spatio-temporal constraints of activities. This study sets up a framework for a new kind of location-based service that finds joint-activity opportunities for multiple individuals, and demonstrates its feasibility using a spatio-temporal GIS approach.

Implementation av prototyp för inomhuspositionering / Prototype Implementation for Indoor PositioningAndersson, Dan January 2013 (has links)
Development of technology constantly creates new opportunities but it can also mean major chang-es for companies and organizations. Today phones, tablets, laptops, mobile communications and cloud technology make it possible to be no longer bound by the time, location or device in order to work. The change means that a new office type that is more flexible and space efficient due to no fixed workplaces, is becoming more common. A problem with this type of offices that are known as flex-offices is that it is not obvious where or when a colleague is in the office, especially if it is large office with multiple floors. The aim of this work is to develop and implement a Location-Based Service for the company Connecta AB. The service will enable users to use their mobile phone to share their current workplace location in an office environment. The result of this work is a Location-Based Service that enables a user to use an Android phone with support for Near Field Communcication to share their current workplace position. The cloud-based server solution, Windows Azure is used to store indexed workplace positions.

AUGMENTED REALITY FOR LOCATION-BASED ADAPTIVE MOBILE LEARNINGChang, William 21 January 2013 (has links)
Augmented Reality (AR) has become a popular interactive technique in the last few years. One of the critical challenges is to identify the real-life objects. Further, how to fully exert the advantages of the AR technique under the limited resources available on the mobile devices is another critical challenge. To resolve the above issue, firstly this thesis reviewed the real-life object tagging and identification techniques. Secondly this thesis studied the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Interface and the environmental sensors on the mobile phones. Lastly this thesis implemented a Multiple Real-life Object Identification Algorithm along with the development of the Multi Object Identification Augmented Reality (MOIAR) application. Subsequently, the MOIAR application has been implemented in the location-based mobile learning environment, where the Legislative Assembly of Alberta is included as an example real-life learning object. This MOIAR implementation has applied the tagging and identification technique review as well as the HCI and sensors study, to prove the usability and practicability of the MOIAR application. / 2012-01

Do Privacy Concerns Matter in Adoption of Location-based Smartphone Applications for Entertainment Purposes : A Study Among University Students in SwedenBlagodárný, David January 2017 (has links)
Adoption of location-based services (LBS) was for a long time below expectations, and most of the studies attribute it to privacy concerns of users. However, many new LBS applications are currently among the most downloaded application for smartphones, particularly entertainment applications. Therefore, this research aims to find out whether privacy concerns still matter to users and to explore the role of the privacy in the adoption of LBS entertaining applications. The adopted methodology is qualitative research and data are collected through interviews and additional information from the smartphones ofparticipants. Ten individuals among university students at Linnaeus University in Sweden are selected for this research, and this sample choice is per their experience with two selected LBS entertaining applications, Pokémon Go and Tinder. As a result, six themes have been recognized to answer the research questions. Low privacy concerns about location information, especially in entertainment applications with negligible effect on adoption have been identified. However, author of this research suggests, that developers of LBS entertaining applications should care for retaining their credibility because it can have an impact on the adoption of their LBS services.

藉由遊戲設計以產出具信賴驗證的行動地理標籤系統 / GWAP design for a mobile geo-tagging system with confident verification楊泰榮, Yang, Tai Rong Unknown Date (has links)
(Android Phone)。 / Human Computation is popular recently and have become one of the hottest research topics, therefore Location-based service also drives a lot of issues. Due to collect information always cause too many manpower- wasted in tradition , so we hoped that the users to complete the things which we want by play game’s way .In this thesis, we based on the concept of ‘Games with a Purpose’(GWAP) to develop a mobile geospatial tagging system, system adopt player share self nearby scenic spots information and then through another players come the same place do the verification, allowing the player to play the game in the side of the process of collecting the relevant geographic information, on the other hand to achieve the purpose of scenic spots information is reliable.
However, how to choose topics for player verification can effectively evaluate the system performance, to solve these problems we propose three different selection strategies on the task assignment algorithms, then through a series of simulation experiments designed to prove that our system can indeed achieve good performance on the topics, finally we take into account real life situations and implement in the smart phone (Android Phone).
