Assistência à saúde mental de mulheres em cidade do interior de Minas Gerais / Mental health care for women in the city of Minas Gerais

Sene, Lidiane Vieira de 30 January 2015 (has links)
The mental health care of women is an issue in dual intervention especially for those of reproductive age as the very condition of motherhood brings risks to women of developing major diseases impacting the care of the children. The scope of mental illness in addition to biological components involve the relationships between people and between people and their life contexts and, accordingly, the practitioners have expanded their actions beyond treatment through medication. And it is not without great difficulty that the proposition of these services has been put into practice. The law says that municipalities must submit projects for the services they intend to deploy and, with regard to mental health, open services have been encouraged, in line with the policies established from the reform movement in assistance. In the present study investigated how was the entry of women in the service of a city in the state of Minas Gerais. We randomly selected 30 women as criteria for inclusion and exclusion of a total of 79. Of these 30, we were able to contact and interview 21 was used feature of semi structured interviews with focus on the following topics: reasons for seeking assistance related life situations the symptoms of mental illness impact on their lives and perceptions about the care received. The results were presented considering the characterization of participants and in accordance with the objectives; the data on the topics covered in the interviews were presented. As for socio demographic characteristics found that most participants living with partner, have 1-5 children aged 4 months to 20 years old do not work outside the home today, but has worked; the predominant age group was 30-34 years; education incomplete primary education, self-declared white skin color, derived from the same town where the study was conducted. The initial symptoms reported by participants which led them to seek the assistance were physical changes, headache, rapid heartbeat, among others; psychological, sadness, depression and behavioral seek isolation, neglect care for children, among others. The diagnoses received were predominantly anxiety disorders and depression. Life situations that, in the perception of the participants, were related to marital conflicts, illness and drug use of family members. How this impacted on their lives was linked to conflicts at work and in the family. The assistance received is seen as very good, but limited by only having one professional responsible for it. It is centered in the medicine but is also seen as a space that can be listened to and oriented. Beside the specialized medical resource also appears the religious context as a means of support for dealing with problems. The study found similar results to those of other studies and can also provide elements to the specific context in which it was developed for the organization of medical care

Concurrently, we have observed that illnesses related to longevity, such as cancer, have become more frequent. Given that, nowadays, pets often play the role of family members, it is natural that their owners fear the occurrence of neoplastic diseases and suffer from fear, anxiety and similar feelings both at the diagnosis and during the early stages of the treatment, specially if antineoplastic chemotherapy is part of the recommended therapeutic protocol. Owners of cancer patients answered two standardized psychological questionnaires (HADS and BRUMS), as well as two other questionnaires to assess their perceptions regarding the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The interviews happened in two moments (1) before the beginning of the therapy and, (2) in the middle of the treatment. The goals of this study were to evaluate the psychological profile and perceptions of tutors of cancer patients regarding the diagnosis and treatment of their pet. 103 clients participated in this survey, 92% described their dog/cat as a family member. Hope (93%), sadness (77%) and fear (73%) were the main feelings reported at the time of diagnosis. In 55% of the cases, they stated they were feeling hopeful about the therapy and 65% of them described the adverse effects as their greatest fears. Only 31% of expected adverse effects were observed and 78% of those owners reported good/excellent quality of life during the treatment. It was considered beneficial by 82% of the evaluated owners and 89% were feeling happy for choose it. Before the treatment 54% of these clients had signs of anxiety. In contrast, only 28% of those still described them during the treatment. (Complete abstract electronic access below) / Doutor

Gävle University, Academy of health and working life. The purpose of this study was to examine sport psychology consultants perceptions about mental training, and how they believe that mental top form could be achieved. Qualitative interviews were used as method. In total, five informants participated in the study. The result that emerged was that the informants felt that mental top form is about creating a balance between all parts of life. Trust for himself and his character was also important as well as the ideas you have. Becoming aware of the thought processes and learn to control those in a favorable direction is important. The basis for achieving mental top form was considered to bring the basic tension in the body. It was important to have clear goals. It was also essential to provide continuity in the mental training to achieve results. A powerful tool to use was considered to be the goal images, which means to see pictures of yourself for your inner that you want to work in different situations. Furthermore, it was important to stop and get to know yourself and your needs. Mental strength was considered to be the deciding factor when all other variables are equivalent. Should all work out mentally, it would be a higher minimum level because everyone would emerge. The conclusion of this study is that the mental training techniques used in sport can also be transferred to other contexts and to other groups of people to create mental health. But it is difficult to determine precisely which techniques each one needs because all seek out different things and all have different needs. It is of great importance to the mental workout is tailored to the individual's needs.</p>

Effects of an intake interview on client anxiety and depression

Krippner, Kevin M. January 1988 (has links)
The basic purpose of the study was to examine the effects of intake interviews an the anxiety and depression of clients. It was hypothesized that intake interviews would reduce symptomology, as it has been shown that even brief interactions with clinicians can be beneficial. Gender of both client and counselor were also examined for main effects and/or interactions. No difference in symptomology based on gender of client or counselor was anticipated. Two hundred ninety-nine adult out-patients of a university training practicum clinic were administered anxiety and depression inventories either before or after intake interviews. Intake interviews were performed by doctoral or masters level students assigned to fellowship duties at the clinic. The intake interview consisted of two parts. The First part was the gathering of relevant demographic information and questions which solicited information about the problems clients were experiencing which prompted the need For counseling. The second part of the intake consisted of a testing battery composed of the Beck Depression Inventory (SDI), Speilberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and Tennessee Self-Concept Scale CTSCS). Only the BDI and State component of the STAI were used in the study. Each of the parts in the intake took approximately 45 minutes to complete. Intakes were scheduled in two-hour time blocks which allowed sufficient time For completion of the entire intake. The experimental manipulation was accomplished by having counselors alternate the order of the interview and assessment battery. The design of the study was a 2 x 2 x 2 (order of interview/assessment battery, client gender, counselor gender). Analysis of the data was performed using a Multiple Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) procedure. There were no significant results for any of the BDI score analyses, and only one significant result For the STAI score analyses. The intake interview was not found to affect the anxiety or depression of clients, failing to support the main hypothesis of the study. Depression and anxiety were also not affected by client gender. However, anxiety was significantly lower for clients of Female vs. male counselors. Depression was not affected. No interactions were found to be significant. / Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services
