Este trabalho objetiva uma revisão da recepção crítica e literária de Noite na Taverna, de Álvares de Azevedo. Com sua Noite na Taverna, esse poeta romântico criou uma peça singular em nossas letras, que gozou de grande popularidade desde então. Busco, a partir disso, elencar e comentar os mais relevantes estudos críticos sobre a obra, além de relacionar uma série de emulações da novela, produzidas sob sua inspiração e dividindo com ela o mesmo clima macabro e de espírito de grupo. Cumbre lembrar que, apesar do seu sucesso literário, Noite na Taverna não foi suficiente para criar entre nós uma tradição de literatura fantástica. Cabe ainda, ao apontar influxos (ainda que indiretos) da literatura de horror no romantismo brasileiro, apresentar uma reflexão sobre os motivos góticos no projeto estético de Álvares de Azevedo. / The aim of this research is to review the critical and literary reception of Noite na Taverna, de Álvares de Azevedo. With that book, this romantic poet created a unique piece in brazilian letters, which enjoyed great popularity since 1855. For this, I list and comment on the most relevant critical studies on the work, further relates a series of \"emulation\" of the novel, produced under his inspiration and sharing the same macabre atmosphere and group spirit. Although their literary success, Noite na Taverna was not enough to create among us a great tradition of fantastic literature. It also point to inflows (albeit indirect) of horror literature in Brazilian Romanticism, provide a reflection on the reasons for the Gothic themes in the Alvares de Azevedo\'s aesthetic project.

A tese aborda o termo macabro desde suas origens na Baixa Idade Média, partindo dessa perspectiva histórica para interrogar as repercussões da literatura e da iconografia que lhe correspondem, sobretudo no século XIX. Neste, privilegia-se em particular o Romantismo, que se alimenta do imaginário medieval para criar uma estética em grande parte voltada a uma sensibilidade da morte. Em paralelo à análise de certas manifestações artísticas europeias, investiga-se a presença do macabro e suas configurações específicas em exemplares da poesia e da prosa do Brasil oitocentista. O poema A orgia dos duendes, de Bernardo Guimarães, tem lugar especial nessa investigação, por se revelar a mais completa e singular fantasia literária de dança macabra no país. / This thesis, by historicizing the term macabre from its origins in the Late Middle Ages, seeks to understand the repercussions of both literature and iconography involving the macabre during the 19th Century, a time when the medieval imaginary was revived through Romanticism. The manifestations of this romantic sensibility as respects to death in the 19th Century in Brazil are also investigated, in an attempt to analyze its influences in Brazilian poetry and prose. The poem A orgia dos duendes, by Bernardo Guimarães, is given special attention in this investigation, as it is deemed the most significant example of the Danse Macabre in Brazil.

What differs them is the symbolism connected to each society throughout centuries, manifested though signs. In this universe, tombs art plays the role of perpetrator agent of the history, denoting symbols ans costumes of differents periods. To observe 'the city of the deads' is to unveil the synthetised way the preferences that some symbols were chosen by the loved ones so to represent the dead immortalize their memory before the time. To understand the nuances of this niche is the function of the touristic activity that by fragmenting a new touristic idea, will be able to understand it's imbrications, there for, attend the needs and expectations of those consumers. The work consistes in analize the cemitery São João Batista as a tourism potential through qualitative researches, beyond if the experienced interpretation of the author in a City Tour in the studied necropoli. / A morte é fato presente em todas as culturas. O que difere são as representações simbólicas atribuídas a cada sociedade por séculos, manifestadas através de signos.Nesse universo, a Arte Tumular desempenha o papel de agente perpetuador da história, denotando símbolos e costumes de distintos períodos.Observar a 'cidade dos mortos' é desvelar de maneira sintetizada as preferências com que alguns símbolos foram escolhidos pelos entes queridos de forma a representar o morto e imortalizar sua memória perante o tempo.Compreender as nuances desse nicho é função da atividade turística que, ao fragmentar um novo viés turístico, poderá perceber suas imbricações, e, assim, corresponder as necessidades e expectativas desse consumidor.O trabalho consiste em analisar o Cemitério São João Batista como potencialidade turística através de pesquisas qualitativas, além da interpretação da autora vivenciada em um Tour na necrópole estudada

[pt] Dentre as diversas vertentes do turismo, o Dark Tourism (ou turismo sombrio, macabro, ou tanaturismo) é voltado para a visitação a atrações ligadas a tragédias, como antigos campos de batalha, prisões, campos de concentração e cemitérios. Apesar de ser um tema abrangente, os estudos sobre esta área do conhecimento carecem um maior aprofundamento, pois somente o positivismo não seria suficiente para proporcionar resultados satisfatórios, uma vez que a compreensão do significado por trás deste tipo de exploração pode ser mais bem entendido por meio de investigações de cunho interpretativo. Para cumprir este objetivo, a Consumer Culture Theory pode representar uma alternativa válida, pois engloba temas como a compreensão dos estilos de vida, formação de identidade, valores e significados culturais. Assim sendo, o objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar o significado simbólico por trás do consumo de atrações classificadas no espectro do dark tourism. Para isso, foi feito um estudo interpretativista, com coleta de dados a partir de entrevistas em profundidade. / [en] Among the various strands of tourism, Dark Tourism (or macabre, or thanatourism) is aimed at visiting attractions linked to tragedies, such as old battlefields, prisons, concentration camps, and cemeteries. Despite being a comprehensive theme, studies on this area of knowledge need further studies, as positivism alone would not be sufficient to provide satisfactory results, since understanding the meaning behind this type of exploration can be better comprehended through interpretive investigations. To fulfill this goal, Consumer Culture Theory can represent a valid alternative, as it encompasses topics such as the understanding of lifestyles, identity formation, values and cultural meanings. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to analyze the symbolic meaning behind the consumption of attractions classified in the spectrum of dark tourism. For this, an interpretive study was carried out, with data collection from in-depth interviews.
