No presente trabalho, o objeto de análise é a Literatura Marginal produzida por Ferréz e seus pontos de contato com um deslocamento do lugar da periferia. Partindo dessa ideia, esta pesquisa pensa Ferréz, em alguns momentos, e dialoga com outros escritores da periferia e suas preferências temáticas. Falando da periferia como tema do escritor da nova geração da Literatura Marginal e como possibilidade de que essa Literatura despontasse, esta pesquisa tem início com a discussão do conceito de periferia e, em seguida, coloca em perspectiva e realiza um sobrevoo entre os diferentes sentidos do termo marginalidade no contexto da Literatura e nas artes de uma maneira ampla. A partir das referidas observações, são discutidas as primeiras expressões de marginalidade na literatura, especialmente aqui no Brasil e verificadas quando se começou, de fato, a aplicar essa expressão marginal na Literatura. Assim, são apresentadas as três principais conotações de marginalidade: (i) aquela que se refere à cultura marginal das décadas de 1960 e 1970; (ii) aquela que diz respeito à poesia marginal do mesmo período; e (iii) a que se relaciona aos escritores que trazem a periferia como tema ou, ainda, aqueles que são oriundos dela. Em seguida, são apresentados os traços da marginalidade literária da nova geração e algumas ações político-culturais de alguns escritores. Nesse momento, há um aprofundamento no objetivo desta pesquisa, que é discutir as mutações na Literatura Marginal e no discurso de Férrez dentro de uma nova concepção de marginalidade literária, inseparável de novos sentidos e contextos da ideia de periferia.

Neste trabalho, analiso o movimento da literatura marginal de São Paulo e suas expressividades políticas e poéticas. O objetivo central é examinar algumas dinâmicas dos saraus que permitem a emergência de escritores/as que se autodenominam marginais, bem como a produção de objetos literários a partir dos vínculos que esses/as agentes culturais estabelecem com espaços periféricos. Interessa-me flagrar o impacto de experiências urbanas variadas no labor literário, nas estratégias de atuação e na produção textual e performática de escritores/as oriundos/as das periferias paulistanas. Primeiramente, relato como se configurou meu trabalho de campo nos saraus e os primeiros contatos que tive com a produção marginal, a fim de delimitar os marcos etnográficos, metodológicos e epistemológicos que orientaram a pesquisa. Em seguida, verifico quais arranjos fazem com que agentes e coletivos formatem um novo movimento cultural de caráter urbano. Para tanto, mediante análise comparativa, percorro modelos e tradições que, por um lado, influenciaram a sociogênese dos saraus enquanto espaços vitais da literatura marginal e, de outro, serviram para provocar certos distanciamentos em seu processo formativo. Por fim, para identificar a particularidade do movimento e o sentido político e estético que pode ter a presença desses/as novos/as autores/as na história da literatura brasileira contemporânea, examino como agentes literários/as, em suas narrativas e performances poéticas, problematizam as periferias, locais onde vivem e a partir dos quais atuam culturalmente e produzem literatura. O argumento da tese é que, em função das oportunidades geradas pelos saraus poéticos, esses/as agentes vêm encontrando, hoje em dia, espaços possíveis para combater estigmas, repertoriar ideias e saberes, estruturar sentimentos, catalisar vivências coletivas e dinamizar suas práticas nas margens geográficas e simbólicas da cidade, a partir da importância do uso da palavra como forma de transformar labores literários em plataformas para o exercício da cidadania cultural. / In this work, I analyze the Marginal Literature Movement and its poetic expressions. The aim is to examine the dynamics of saraus (open mic events) that allow the emergence of writers who call themselves marginal, as well as the production of literary objects from the bonds these agents establish with peripheral spaces. I seek to understand the impact of urban experiences on literary labor, strategies of action, and production of writers from the outskirts. First, I describe fieldwork set up and how the first contacts with marginal literature occurred, in order to establish the parameters of the ethnographic, methodological, and epistemological milestones that guided the research. Then, I discuss the arrangements leading to individual and collective social agency that shape a new cultural and urban movement. To this end, I explore through comparative analysis models and traditions that have, on the one hand, influenced the sociogenesis of saraus as important spaces of marginal literature and, on the other, served to provoke a certain distancing during their formative process. Finally, in order to identify the particularity of the movement as well as the political and aesthetic meaning that these new authors can have in the contemporary history of Brazilian literature, I examine how literary agents problematize the peripheries in the narrative, which are places where they live, and from where they act culturally and produce literature. The argument is that these agents are now finding spaces to fight stigmas, set ideas, structure feelings, catalyze collective experiences, and ground their practices on the margins of the city as a result of the opportunities generated by saraus. They have been doing so by highlighting the importance of the use of words as a way of transforming their literary works into platforms for the exercise of a cultural citizenship.

Nos últimos anos, o Brasil tem testemunhado o surgimento de uma produção literária com características muito próprias do nosso tempo: seus autores são periféricos (favelados), sua forma e conteúdo derivam do momento de extrema violência que assola grande parte da população. Exemplar desta produção, o livro de Ferréz, Capão Pecado é primeiramente publicado em 2000. O objetivo desta dissertação é analisar o romance, compreendendo-o dentro de um escopo maior, que abarca outros setores, da arte e da política. Para isso, a teoria pós-colonial, assim como um estreito diálogo com uma parte da tradição crítico-literária brasileira são utilizadas. / In the last few years, Brazil has witnessed the appearance of one type of literary production whose characteristics are typical or our times: its authors are from the suburbs (the slums), its form and content derive from the extreme violence imposed to a great part of the population. An example of this literary production, Ferrézs book, Capão Pecado is first published in 2000. This dissertation aims at analyzing the novel, understanding that it belongs to a greater scope, that comprehends other spheres of the arts and politics. In order to do so, the post-colonial theory will be used, as well as a great deal of the Brazilian literary theory tradition.

Para a construção do trabalho, foram utilizados teóricos que trabalham e reveem conceitos de cultura, não cristalizados, tais como, Cultura Popular, Cultura de Elite e Cultura de Massa, tendo em vista uma concepção de mercado e de socialização da arte. Ao mesmo tempo, a fim de inserir este novo movimento literário no âmbito das artes e das instituições, foram feitas entrevistas e utilizadas obras literárias de três autores (Ferréz, Alessandro Buzo e Allan da Rosa) e de uma autora (Elizandra Souza) que atuam na cena literária marginal / periférica. Para sua concretização, o estudo toma como referência as indagações e as recepções diante das culturas e da indústria cultural, ao traçar um panorama de como este movimento vem atuando na Literatura Brasileira Contemporânea / The present dissertation aims at raising issues around the socalled Marginal or Peripheral Literature and at locating it in the field of Literature and Culture. In the organization of the work, intellectuals working and revising culture-related non-crystallized concepts, such as Popular Culture, Culture of the Elites and Mass Culture have been used, taking into consideration conceptions related to the market and to the socializing of art. At the same time, in order to place this new literary movement in the field of the arts and institutions, interviews were made and literary works by four different authors who are active participants in the marginal / peripheral literary scene were used: three male authors (Ferréz, Alessandro Buzo and Allan da Rosa) and one female author (Elizandra Souza). In the background, the present study takes into consideration different questionings and reception to both culture and industrial culture, as it designs a panorama of the way such movement has been presented in Contemporary Brazilian Literature

We are interested in discussing what is completely written and what this narrator that defines himself as “marginal” thinks. With that, we want to put in evidence his world‟s view, something that, according to our understanding, can be comprehended not only with what they argue, but also from the analysis of the connection between the content and the shape of this literary manifestation. We are proposing the thinking of the narrative as an expression of the group that brings the condition of living in the periphery and the believing that literature can be a gun. To fight against what and whom? These are the questions that guide our analysis and that make us dedicate ourselves to a discussion about the narrator of this literature. It is distinguished the way that the literary subject assume sometimes, when the narrator develops a “violent” speech answering back the violence he has suffered, or, when he gives rises to the notion of destiny as an explanation for a situation in which he is evolved. A margem, que delimita o espaço, isola aquilo que está dentro (a sociedade, as leis) e exclui o que está fora (o marginal). Ser marginal, nesse sentido, é estar fora da sociedade e de suas leis. Porém, ao nos confrontarmos com a opacidade dos sentidos ali formulados, deparamo-nos com a conjunção "como" que liga (separando) a multiplicidade dos sentidos da palavra 'marginal' ("diz-se de pessoa que vive à margem da sociedade") com a restrição limitante da conformidade ou da comparação: "como vagabundo, mendigo ou delinquente". Na tentativa de compreender como, pelo poético, a marginalidade é formulada, - passando inclusive, em sua ligação com a literatura, a ser um objeto simbólico pelo qual se luta - apresento, nesta dissertação, a análise das poesias reunidas nas antologias Literatura Marginal: Talentos da escrita periférica (2005), organizada por Ferréz e 26 poetas Hoje (1976), por Heloísa Buarque de Hollanda. Na comparação entre essas duas produções poéticas, marcadas igualmente pela formulação 'marginal', pergunto-me sobre o que nelas se repete, o que produz diferença e por quê. É nesse jogo entre a marginalidade na década de 70 e a marginalidade na atualidade que outras possibilidades de significação 'marginal' aparecem, indicando, assim, - para além dos sentidos de "vagabundo", "mendigo" ou "delinquente" - a resistência dos sujeitos na/pela poesia da língua. / Abstract: In the Portuguese dictionary, the entry "marginal" ("outcast") indicates, in its definition, different manners of placing a person outside society or the law. "It is said of a person who lives on the margins of society or the law...". The margin, which defines the space, isolates that which is inside (society, the laws) and excludes that which is outside ("o marginal" or the outcast). To be "marginal", in this sense, is to be outside society and its laws. However, when facing the opacity of the meanings formulated in the dictionary we find the conjunctions "like" or "as" which connects (separating) the multiplicity of the meanings of the word "marginal" ("it is said of person who lives on the margins of society") with the limiting restriction of conformity or of comparison: "like a vagabond, beggar or delinquent". The defense of legitimacy in the use of the designation "Literatura Marginal" carried out by Ferréz and observed in the analysis of the periodicals Caros Amigos/Literatura Marginal suggests other meanings for marginality, that is, other forms to be outside society and its laws, which DO NOT mean necessarily, to be a "vagabond", "beggar" or "delinquent", which is also observed in the "Poesia Marginal" of the 70s. Trying to understand how, through the poetic meaning, the marginality is formulated, - becoming even, in its connection to literature, a symbolic object fought for - the analysis of the poems collected from the anthologies Literatura Marginal: Talentos da escrita periférica (2005) (Marginal Literature: Talents of the peripheral writing), organized by Ferréz and 26 poetas Hoje (1976) (26 Poets Today), by Heloísa Buarque de Hollanda. In the comparison between these two poetic productions, marked equally by the designation of "marginal", we ask about what is repeated in them, what produces a difference and why.
