O impacto do marketing "verde" nas decisões sobre embalagens das cervejarias que operam no Brasil / The impact of "green" marketing on packaging decisions in the beer industry in Brazil

Nos últimos anos, tem ganhado importância o debate sobre a preservação ambiental. Para responder às crescentes demandas do governo, traduzidas em uma legislação cada vez mais rigorosa, e dos consumidores, expressas em suas preferências no momento de compra, as empresas vêem-se obrigadas a observar cuidadosamente seu desempenho ambiental. Às vezes, contudo, temem-se eventuais incompatibilidades entre ações corporativas orientadas ecologicamente e aquelas direcionadas economicamente. Esta dissertação concentra suas atenções em embalagens, por serem estas identificadas, muitas vezes, com problemas ambientais, especialmente aqueles relacionados com a questão do lixo urbano. Partindo da análise de três casos da indústria cervejeira no Brasil, procurou-se identificar como – e se – a dimensão “verde” tem afetado as decisões sobre embalagem nas empresas de bens de consumo. Recorrendo à bibliografia produzida na área de marketing “verde”, comportamento “verde” do consumidor e desenvolvimento sustentável, este trabalho mostra que ações “ambientalmente corretas” não são necessariamente incompatíveis com o bom desempenho econômico das empresas. Mais que isso, evidencia que o uso de ferramentas como a contabilidade ambiental, a análise de ciclo de vida e a logística reversa podem auxiliar na obtenção de vantagem competitiva. / In recent years, the debate about environmental preservation has gained importance. In order to respond to growing demands from the government, in the form of an ever more stringent legislation, and from the consumers, expressed by their preferences in buying situations, companies see themselves forced to watch carefully their environmental performance. Sometimes, though, it is feared that there are trade-offs between environmentally and economically oriented corporate actions. This dissertation puts packaging in the spotlight, because packages are, very often, closely identified with environmental problems, especially those related to urban waste issues. From the analysis of three cases in the Brazilian beer industry, it is sought here to identify how – and if – the “green” dimension has affected packaging decisions in consumer goods industries. Referring to bibliography on “green” marketing, “green” consumer behaviour, and sustained development, this research shows that “environmental correctness” and good economic performance are not necessarily antagonistic goals. More than that, it shows that the use of tools such as environmental accountability, life cycle assessment, and reverse logistics can help companies to obtain competitive advantage.

O estudo foi realizado por meio de um experimento que utilizou um projeto fatorial 3x2 – três 'argumentos' publicitários e dois níveis de cor. A amostra foi composta por 286 alunos do curso de Administração de uma universidade particular de Curitiba-PR. Como base teórica foram utilizados principalmente a teoria das pistas (OLSON; JACOBI, 1972) e o Modelo de Probabilidade de Persuasão - MPE (PETTY; CACIOPPO, 1986). As hipóteses (H1, H2, H3) previam que os sujeitos que foram expostos ao 'argumento ecológico' demonstrariam atitudes mais favoráveis em relação ao anúncio, à marca e à intenção de compra do que os sujeitos que foram expostos a um argumento 'genérico'. Da mesma forma, outro grupo de hipóteses (H4, H5, H6) previa que os sujeitos expostos a pista extrínseca – 'argumento ecológico' demonstrariam atitudes mais favoráveis em relação ao anúncio, à marca e à intenção de compra do que os sujeitos expostos à pista intrínseca 'argumento acessórios'. Os resultados apontaram que os sujeitos expostos ao 'argumento ecológico' foram sensibilizados e demonstraram atitudes mais favoráveis em relação ao anúncio e à intenção de compra. No entanto, mostraram-se indiferentes em relação à marca. Também foram encontradas atitudes diferentes em relação ao anúncio e à intenção de compra dependendo do grau de envolvimento do consumidor com o produto e o seu nível de consciência ecológica. Os resultados sugerem que a utilização de 'argumentos ecológicos' como apelo persuasivo para divulgar produtos de alto envolvimento contribui para avaliação positiva do anúncio, mas não parecem agregar de forma significativa para imagem da marca, especialmente junto ao seu público alvo. / This research had as its objective to investigate the consumer attitudes in relation to advertisement, brand, and buying intention of a product with the potential to cause a high level of involvement in the consumer who utilizes an 'ecological argument' to take position. The study was realized by means of an experiment which used a factorial project 3X2 - three arguments and two levels of colors. Sample was composed by 286 pupils of the administration course of a private university in Curitiba-PR. Cues' Theory (OLSON; JACOBY, 1972) and the Model of Probability of Persuasion - MPE (PETTY; CACIOPPO, 1986) was used as support. The hypothesis (H1, H2, H3) predicted that the subjects who were exposed to the extrinsic cue – 'ecological argument' – would demonstrate more favorable attitudes in relation to the advertisement, brand and buying intention than the subjects exposed to a 'generic argument'. In the same way, the other hypothesis group (H4, H5, H6) predicts that the subjects exposed to the extrinsic cue 'ecological argument' showed more favorable attitudes to the advertisement, brand, and buying intention than the subjects exposed to the intrinsic cue 'accessory argument'. The results show that the subjects exposed to the 'ecological argument' were influenced and showed more favorable attitudes in relation to the advertisement and buying intention. However they showed indifference in relation to the brand. Different attitudes were also found in relation to the advertisement and buying intention which depended on the level of consumer involvement with the product and their level of ecological conscience. The results suggest that the use of 'ecological arguments' such as persuasive appeal to promote high involvement products contributed to the positive evaluation of the advertisement, but did not appear to add in any significant way to the image of the brand, especially within its target market.

La presente investigación se concentra en conocer como uno de los atributos de un green product, como el packaging, es de suma importancia al momento de establecer la relación con la confianza que el consumidor busca al momento de comprar un producto eco amigable, ya que es lo primero que verán en el punto de venta o por alguna plataforma digital. La tendencia de optar por productos que tengan un impacto positivo para el medioambiente empezó a inicios de los noventas. Esta tendencia se conoce como green marketing y tiene como objetivo que las empresas creen, produzcan y promuevan un tipo de producto, con un impacto positivo en el medio ambiente y satisfacer las necesidades de los consumidores. Es asi como nace un green product, un artículo producido con propósito ambiental incluso hasta la última etapa del ciclo de vida de este. Parte importante de un green product es el packaging que también debe cumplir con la promesa de ser pro Ambiental. Este empaque debe generar seguridad y confianza a los consumidores, ya sea a través del diseño, materiales o certificaciones que avalen que es un producto 100% ecológico. La importancia del empaque genera, como se mencionó líneas arriba, una relación de confianza de la marca con el consumidor, ya que es a través de este atributo se puede generar expectativas sobre si tiene un desempeño ambiental o no. / This research focuses on knowing how one of the attributes of a green product, As the packaging, It is of utmost importance when establishing the relationship with the trust that the consumer looks for when buying an eco-friendly product, since it is the first thing they will see at the point of sale or through a digital platform. The trend to opt for products that have a positive impact on the environment began in the early 1990s. This trend is known as green marketing and its objective is that companies create, produce and promote a type of product, with a positive impact on the environment and satisfy the needs of consumers. This is how a green product, an item produced with an environmental purpose even up to the last stage of its life cycle. Important part of a green product is its packaging which must also fulfil the promise of being pro environmental. This packaging must generate security and confidence in consumers, either through the design, materials or certifications that guarantee that it is a 100% ecological product. The importance of packaging generates, as mentioned above, a relationship of trust between the brand and the consumer, since it is through this attribute that expectations can be generated about whether it has an environmental performance or not. / Trabajo de investigación

En un mundo donde hay mucha irresponsabilidad en el manejo de los recursos, contaminación desmesurada, consumismo y despreocupación, el mundo se lleva a sí mismo hacia una posible extinción. A diario se ven emisiones de carbono, deforestación, minería ilegal, contaminación del mar, entre otros, y no se ve un sentido de urgencia. Sin embargo, existen distintas empresas que están haciendo un esfuerzo importante para combatir estos problemas y tal es el caso de Patagonia, una marca que no solo busca generar cambios, sino hace que estos sucedan. Para este estudio se tomará un enfoque cualitativo, donde se selecciona a 20 consumidores de Patagonia de las edades de 25 - 35 años para realizarles entrevistas semi estructuradas. El motivo es demostrar la importancia del propósito de las marcas ecológicas y cómo estas influyen en las motivaciones de compra de los consumidores. Cada vez el mundo está migrando con más frecuencia hacia lo ecológico y reutilizable, por lo que se debe comprender cómo este nuevo consumidor piensa y actúa para tomar decisiones más estratégicas como marca. / In a world where there is much irresponsibility in the management of resources, excessive pollution, consumerism and carelessness, we find ourselves leading to a possible extinction. Every day we see carbon emissions, deforestation, illegal mining, sea pollution, among others, and we do not see a sense of urgency. However, there are different companies that are making an important effort to combat these problems and such is the case of Patagonia, a brand that not only seeks to generate changes, but makes them happen. For this study, we will take a qualitative approach where we select 20 consumers in Patagonia between the ages of 25 - 35 to conduct semi-structured interviews. The motive is to demonstrate the importance of the purpose of eco-brands and how they influence consumers' purchase motivations. The world is increasingly migrating to the green and reusable and we must understand how this new consumer thinks and acts in order to make more strategic decisions as a brand. / Trabajo de investigación

From the marketing point of view, building a significant green market can be of great importance in facing this challenge. Considering that, understanding the backgrounds of ecological consumption could reveal how environmentally oriented consumption behavior occur and so, it can help the development of both educational and commercial campaigns. The present study examines the influence of emotional and cognitive factors in the ecologically correct shopping behavior. To do so, a conceptual model was built, based on the literature and it was submitted to empirical verification, using a survey approach, analysed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. A sample of 291 individuals, gathered through electronic means was analysed during the month of January, 2010. This research's findings confirm that emotion and subjective knowledge are backgrounds for ecologically correct consumption, mediated by the attitude reffering to the ecological consumption and by the intention to engage in such behavior. It is considered that the objectives of the present study, which was to identify the backgrounds of ecological consumption, were achieved. / O desenvolvimento sustentável é um desafio multidimensional com implicações para todos os setores da sociedade. Do ponto de vista do marketing, a construção de um mercado verde significativo pode ser de grande importância neste desafio. Diante disto, compreender os antecedentes do consumo ecológico lança luz sobre como se dão os comportamentos de consumo ambientalmente orientados, o que pode auxiliar no desenvolvimento de campanhas tanto educativas quanto comerciais. O presente estudo examina a influência de fatores emocionais e cognitivos nos comportamentos de compra ecológica. Para isso, um modelo conceitual foi construído a partir da literatura e submetido à verificação empírica, utilizandose levantamento para coleta de dados e Modelagem de Equações Estruturais para análise. Foi analisada uma amostra de 291 respondentes, levantada por meio eletrônico durante o mês de janeiro de 2010. Os achados desta pesquisa confirmam a emoção e o conhecimento subjetivo como antecedentes do consumo ecológico, mediadas pela atitude referente ao consumo ecológico e pela intenção de se engajar em tal comportamento. Sugestões de pesquisa futura são analisadas com base na teoria de marketing.

La comunicación de la moda sostenible a partir de la imagen de marca ecológica en Instragram: Caso Insecta

Entre el 2001 y el 2017, el Perú ha perdido 2 millones 130 mil 122 hectáreas de bosque debido a las prácticas de explotación de recursos (MAAP, 2017). Según el informe de Lima cómo vamos (2011), el 47.8% de limeños consideraron a la contaminación ambiental como un problema sumamente importante. La creciente toma de conciencia ambiental ha permitido el ingreso a más de 170 Pymes de moda ecológica que impulsan mediante sus productos contrarrestar el impacto negativo al medio ambiente (Economía verde, 2019). Una de ellas es Insecta que ha despertado el interés de usuarios de la red social de Instagram hacia el consumo de sus productos de elaborados de fibras de piña. El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo “ Demostrar si existe una valorización de importancia en el consumidor limeño en relación a la estrategia de comunicación de la marca Insecta compartida en Instagram como marca ecológica”. Como menciona Arseculeratne y Yazdanifard (2014) una marca ecológica debe reflejar su proceso productivo ecoamigable. Y para tener éxito comercial como ecológicos debe comunicarlo de manera efectiva” (Pickett et al., 1995). Los resultados de la investigación resaltan el poco conocimiento acerca de los procesos del producto de la marca Insecta que difunde a través de su intención medioambiental. Teniendo en cuenta que Instagram es una de las redes con gran audiencia joven, Insecta no logra transmitir un aspecto emocional hacia los consumidores limeños. / In period of 2001 and 2017, Peru lost 2 million 130 thousand 122 hectares of forest due to resource exploitation practices (MAAP, 2017).
