A study of principles for increasing sales with packaging design as a tool / En studie om konsumenters påverkan av förpackningslayouter och grafisk formgivning som verktyg för att nå ökad försäljning

Ärnekvist, Sanna January 2014 (has links)

An LTE implementation based on a road traffic density model

Attaullah, Muhammad January 2013 (has links)
The increase in vehicular traffic has created new challenges in determining the behavior of performance of data and safety measures in traffic. Hence, traffic signals on intersection used as cost effective and time saving tools for traffic management in urban areas. But on the other hand the signalized intersections in congested urban areas are the key source of high traffic density and slow traffic. High traffic density causes the slow network traffic data rate between vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure. To match up with the emerging technologies, LTE takes the lead with good packet delivery and versatile to changes in the network due to vehicular movements and density. This thesis is about analyzing of LTE implementation based on a road traffic density model. This thesis work is aimed to use probability distribution function to calculate density values and develop a real traffic scenario in LTE network using density values. In order to analyze the traffic behavior, Aimsun simulator software has been used to represent the real situation of traffic density on a model intersection. For a realistic traffic density model field measurement were used for collection of input data. After calibration and validation process, a close to realty results extracted and used a logistic curve of probability distribution function to find out the density situation on each part of intersection. Similar traffic scenarios were implemented on MATLAB based LTE system level simulator. Results were concluded with the whole traffic scenario of 90 seconds and calculating the throughput at every traffic signal time and section. It is quite evident from the results that LTE system adopts the change of traffic behavior with dynamic nature and allocates more bandwidth where it is more needed.

Accurate BRDF Modelling for Wide Angle Scattering

Tongbuasirilai, Tanaboon January 2013 (has links)
In this thesis, a modified BRDF model for wide-angle scattering is presented. The proposed model is developed from empirical observations of several BRDF models. The model is an extention of the classical microfacet models. By replacing the two cosines of elevation angles with functions and exponent parameters, our model is able to give a special characteristic which we have not found in any other BRDF models. The characteristic at wide-angle scattering can be, for example, seen on the polyethylene material. In addition, our proposed model can greatly improve relative error from the reference model. The average relative error improvement is about 20 ercent for a cosine weighted error metric,E1 , and 10 percent for a logarithmic error metric, E 2,. Moreover, we also introduce a new optimization approach for the proposed terms. This approach can do optimization so that our proposed model gives at least an equivalent error to the reference model.

Hybrid Particle-Grid Water Simulation using Multigrid Pressure Solver

Karlsson, Per January 2014 (has links)
This thesis involves an evaluation of the multigrid method for solving systems of differential equations in hybrid particle-grid fluid simulations. The work in this thesis is focused on inviscid incompressible liquid and water simulations and the method of choice is Fluid Implicit Particle (FLIP). Equations and algorithms are presented in but not restricted to a two-dimensional domain, and can easily be extended to three dimensions. The results of the multigrid pressure solver in this thesis shows that the method is sufficient for non real-time simulations in computer graphics. A comparison between multigrid and the traditional preconditioned conjugate gradient method showed similar results in tests for correctness.

Studenters mobilanvändning under föreläsningar : En studie om hur studenters koncentrationsförmåga påverkas av mobilanvändning under föreläsningar / Students cellphone usage during lectures : A study of how students’ concentration capacity is affected by cellphone usage during lectures

Kamil, Hélin, Örneving, Kristin January 2013 (has links)
In Sweden there is a long ongoing discussion about computer and cellphone usage during lectures in school. The discussion has mainly covered elementary school up to college students, but this topic is at least as relevant for university students. Today cellphones are so advanced; you can do everything with one that you previously only could do with a computer, the difference is that everyone is carrying one with them all the time. This study shows how concentration during lectures is affected by the cellphone accessibility and usage. With this study we want to find out how university students perceive cellphone usage affects their own concentration during lectures. Our goal with this paper is to enlighten both teachers and students about cellphone usage, and give them suggestions on how lectures possibly can be improved. The research question in this study is: In what way do university students believe their cellphone usage affects their concentration capabilities during lectures? The data we have collected is compiled from three surveys from three different universities in Stockholm. We have also interviewed students in a group interview and one individual interview. The results show that the students are affected negatively to some degree by their cellphone usage during lectures. But the level of concentration is also affected by the subject of the lecture, level of difficulty and the teacher’s way of lecturing.

Story Through Gameplay : Design Patterns in Journey and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Nilsson, John, Engström, Lars January 2013 (has links)
This is an analysis in which we played the games “Journey” and “Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons” with the goal of identifying game design patterns that were used to convey the games’ narratives. Using the method known as formal analysis we examined different situations in the games. Having identified which design patters seemed significant we decided upon a template with which we would present our findings. We found three patterns that we deemed were important enough to be defined in this paper; “Player guidance through Non Player Characters”, “Manipulation of controller effects” and “Visual reminders of the Player’s Goal” and explain these thoroughly. In our discussion we examine the value of our findings and how effective we found our method to be.

The Sims : En studie om skapandet av karaktärer ur ett genusperspektiv / The Sims : A study on the creation of characters from a gender perspective

Kabir, Paulina, Taufig, Hoshiar January 2011 (has links)
Todays gaming habits between women and men depends on the age range. Both sexes are playing but how do they create a character when they have free hands? Are there any differences from a gender perspective? The main purpose is to answer the question: How does women and men create characters in the computergame The Sims? By looking at the result of four women and four mens created character and then interviewing them for profound information, we have received data to answer those questions for our study. Data has shown that the men were less personal when they created a character, used more imagination and took less time to create the character. The majority of the women created themselfs or part of themselfs and took more time on details.
